(Y/n)'s POV
"(Y/n), are you alright?" Ciel asked.
"I-I'm fine. Thank y-you for your hospitality."
"My pleasure. It is only common sense that I would help you, considering how our parents were friends. It's such a shame that they passed."
"Y-you must have it worse. I'm terribly sorry for i-inconveniencing you like t-this."
"Don't concern yourself with it. Sebastian, show her to her room."
"Yes, my lord."
I hesitantly placed my hand on the butler's, letting him lead me outside. He showed no signs of discomfort even as I tightened my grasp for fear that my trembling legs would fail to move.
The soft taps of our shoes echoed lightly across the hallway, lit only by the sun's rays coming through the large windows. Three servants stood at the end of our path, each staring at me with what I assumed to be curiosity.
Managing a small smile as a polite greeting, I moved along as Sebastian continued to walk. Unexpectedly, the maid stopped us, her hand tugging loosely on the sleeve of my (f/c) dress.
"Meirin, do you have something to say to our guest?" asked Sebastian.
"Um, well, we were wondering who she was..."
"(Y/n) (L/n), daughter of (M/n) (L/n) and (F/n) (L/n). Pleased to make your acquaintance."
"Cute," commented the boy.
"W-well, um...I..."
"Finny, instead of embarrassing her, you should use this time to tend to the gardens. Bard, shouldn't you be preparing lunch? And Meirin, have you finished dusting the library?" Sebastian said.
"Ah, right!"
The three ran off, all seemingly afraid of the butler's wrath.
"Well then, let us go."
I jumped slightly, painfully aware of how close his face was to mine. He simply smiled before pulling me along the confusing corridors of the Phantomhive manor.

A headache started to form as I unconsciously recalled events from only the night before. A flurry of memories that I wished to destroy and a hurricane of disastrous emotions threatened to overtake me.
~Flashback~
"Good evening, Uncle Lucas."
He simply smiled enigmatically in reply. I fidgeted with my fingers, uncomfortable with his gaze lingering on my body. Mother and father walked in, making him look away with annoyance.
"Lucas, what are you doing here?" father asked.
"I'm here to convince you," he replied.
"Even if you are my younger brother, I cannot and will not ever understand your ill intentions. You are wretched. How can you possibly ask for my daughter's hand in marriage?!"
"It is love at first sight. Oh what a sweet thought!"
"Honey..." mother started, holding onto my father's hand.
"If you do not hand her over, I will have no choice but to kill you."
"Then I shall gladly sacrifice my life to keep her away from you."
Assassins jumped in from the windows, aiming their guns at my parents. I took in the sight with large, frightened eyes and wished desperately for this nightmare to end.
At the signal from my uncle, triggers were pulled. I rushed towards him, knocking him towards the path of the bullets flying in the direction of my parents. He yelled in anger, grabbing my arm just as he was shot in the heart.
Scared, I quickly shook off his grasp and turned around to find my parents on the floor, blood spreading around them like flowers blooming on a field.
The assassins took off without another thought. That's right...their only job was to kill my parents. They had most likely received their money beforehand so the death of my uncle did not hinder their plans... At this realisation, tears finally sprung to my eyes.

~Flashback end~
Swaying slightly, I stumbled over my feet, making Sebastian catch me in his arms. Panting heavily, I quickly caught my breath before steadying myself.
"Are you alright, Lady (Y/n)?" he asked, his hands still on my arms.
"I-I'm fine, thank you."
"Shall I get you something to soothe your headache?"
"Y-yes please. I'm s-sorry for adding to y-your workload..."
"Do not worry about me. I am but a mere butler."
"No, t-that's not true. Everyone's l-life has equal v-value, even if you a-are a demon."
"Oh, may I ask how you knew?"
I quickly covered my mouth, afraid of revealing what my parents had tried to keep hidden. He smirked knowingly, seemingly because he already figured out the truth behind my birth.
Leading me into what I assumed to be my bedroom, he quietly shut the door. I refused to meet his gaze for fear that it would give him the clarification he needed to confirm his assumptions.
"Are you half angel?" he asked.
"...p-please do not spread i-it."
"Then, because you still have human blood in your veins, what abilities do you have that distinguish your kind from the others?"
"I...do not know."
"Do you wish to know?"
"...I-I do not mind e-either way."
"Well, I need to go prepare the young master's afternoon tea. I will be back with your refreshment later."
"M-mind I go with y-you? I do n-not want to be l-left alone..."
"If that is what you wish, I do not mind."
I followed him to the kitchen and watched as he worked effortlessly without rest. The man named Bard had made a mess of the place, leaving everything burnt and damaged. Nothing had come out unscathed.
Offering to help, I grabbed a cloth and started to clean the table tops. Sebastian started making the food. Despite the fact that I had not eaten since yesterday, I did not feel hunger. Only exhaustion made me feel fatigued.
Sighing, I looked over to see a cut on Sebastian's finger. Heading towards him, I reached for his hand and placed a gentle kiss on the wound. Within seconds, it had healed, leaving no trace of it ever being injured.
"You seem to know of this ability," he commented.
"I-I do not like using it. I-it cannot heal much."
"It seems to me that you wish to heal your broken heart."
"...once broken, it cannot be mended."
"That's not true."
We turned towards the source of the voice.
"You have looked after me from when I was a baby. I wish to repay the favour. Sebastian, this is an order: heal her broken heart," Ciel exclaimed.
"Yes, my lord."
"Thank you both...thank you so much!"
The two smiled. I returned their smile through the tears streaming down my face. Sebastian wiped them away with his thumbs. Perhaps...changing my perspective wasn't impossible...
