(Y/n)'s POV
Dark, chaotic thoughts took control of my once innocent, childlike mind. The world now belonged not to humanity but the cannibalised creatures that roamed beyond the walls.
Living not to fulfil a dream but living to survive...was now everyone's objective. With no one but myself to rely on, I was forced to lock up my emotions in which confiding with another were something of a fleeting desire.
Walking alone, I wandered aimlessly along the busy streets. Oblivious children ran around playing chase while their parents went to the various stalls buying food with what measly amount of money they had.
Spotting a flash of brown locks and short, black hair, I immediately hid myself behind a stack of boxes and watched as the two passed by. Eren...and Mikasa...seemed like a great couple...
Although their relationship hadn't been confirmed, it was obvious from the way they behaved. You would have to be as blind as bat to not see the potential in them getting together.
My heart ached at the thought but I couldn't deny the credibility behind it. To sabotage their growing relationship would be akin to betrayal. The two...were the first friends I had made.
"Oi."
I held a knife to the male's throat with my eyes still trailing the two. Sighing, Levi pushed my arm down and followed my gaze. He was the only one aware of my affection for the brown-haired boy and had been kind enough to keep it that way.
"Staring holes into the back of their heads won't get you anywhere," he exclaimed.
"Then what do you suggest I do? And don't you dare say 'get over it'."
"Well, their relationship isn't official, is it? And under what evidence do you have that labels him as having fallen head over heels for her? You're just basing it on rumours and assumptions."

"But it's undoubtedly obvious."
"With that kind of thinking, you'll get nowhere."
"Well, unlike you, I don't have a lot of courage."
"Hmph, says you. You've always shown excellent skills and are one of the best apprentices I have. It's pathetic how he can make you so nervous."
"Shut up."
"Oh, look. He's coming back...alone. Go talk to him."
I was given no time to answer as he pushed me forward and into Eren's path. The male stared at me before a smile graced his face. I could imagine Levi's arrogant smirk as he walked away from the awkward scene in which he had placed me in.
"Hey (Y/n)," Eren greeted.
"H-hey."
"I was just about to go buy some food. Want to come along?"
"Sure, I don't mind."
I walked by his side as we headed towards the marketplace. His hand brushed against mine, making my cheeks turn a light pink. He seemed to think nothing of it, crushing what little hope I had left.
I glanced at him. His gaze was on the path ahead of us, his expression mirroring nothing but nonchalance. A soft, barely audible sigh escaped my mouth, followed by the harsh realisation that he would leave my feelings unrequited.
"So how have you been? I haven't had a chance to talk to you lately," he said.
"...I've been doing fine. What about you?"
"Could've been better."
"How so?"
"Well...there's this girl that I like."
"Go on."
"And I have no idea how to tell her. She doesn't seem to like me back..."
"Mind telling me who it is?"
"*blush* N-no, that's a secret."
"Eh...what a party pooper."
It was most likely Mikasa. Could he not tell that she liked him back? Perhaps...they just needed an extra push. Pushing aside my heart achingly passionate emotions, I put on an encouraging smile.

"Just go for it, Eren. I'm sure whoever that girl is would like that too. Rather than beat around the bush, get straight to the point. I doubt she'll reject you. Have some confidence."
"...maybe you're right."
"So? Can I come along in secret to your confession?"
"If you were gonna do it in secret, why bother telling me?"
"True."
No one's POV
Eren nervously clenched his fists. Confessing to the one girl he had laid his eyes on...he was terribly afraid of rejection. She was perfect in his eyes yet her feelings were always bottled inside, like a lock without a key.
He wanted to become that key. The key to unlocking her hidden thoughts. He swore that he would make her happy, even if it took him his whole life to do it.
Suddenly, a tall man charged towards (Y/n), a knife in his hand. She dodged his attack effortlessly. Eren watched in pure amazement as the girl dodged and counterattacked as if it was second nature.
"The titans will break through the walls! And you guys are doing nothing about it! Why are you allowed to eat and talk?! Why is it only us who has to suffer?!" the man yelled, clutching his broken arm in pain.
"You? Suffer? You have no idea what it's like out there in the battlefield. Blood, dead comrades, loss...tell me, is that not suffering? With your weak mindset, I doubt you'd even last a second," (Y/n) replied, quiet anger seething beneath her words.
Eren grabbed her hand, giving it a squeeze. She relaxed slightly before allowing him to lead her away from the man. Once out of view, he turned her around to face him.
The concern on his face made her stand shock still, hating herself for the small blush on her cheeks. His hands on her shoulders made her nervous, increasing the fast beating of her heart.
"(Y/n), don't worry me like that again," he exclaimed.
"Worry you? I didn't do anything worth-"
"You...weren't being yourself."
"*sigh* Okay, I-"
"Hey...do you have someone you like?"
"...yeah, I do."
"Who?..."
"*blush* As if I'll tell you."
"What if...I was to say that I like you?"
"W-what are you talking about? Don't joke around like that. Mikasa will be sad."
"Mikasa? (Y/n), the one I love is you, not her. I'll admit that it may have seemed like that, but I was only asking her for advice."
"You..."
He hesitantly leaned in to kiss her. She melted into the kiss and felt herself waver. He caught her in his arms, staring into her (e/c) eyes. Tears sprung into her eyes as she whispered her answer.
"Eren, I love you too."
"You had me so worried. I thought you liked Levi."
"Eh? Why would I like him?"
"You're always around him so I thought..."
"He's like an older brother to me. And besides, can you say that after hanging out with Mikasa so much?!"
"I guess you have a point..."
"So are we official?"
"Definitely."
