(Y/n)'s POV
Hurrying along the dark corridors, I made my way to Sugoroku Hajime. His intimidating figure stood leaning against the wall, a cigarette in his mouth.
I stopped in front of him, a smile appearing on my face when he opened his eyes only to widen them in shock. A cheeky giggle escaped my mouth but it was quickly silenced with his heavy sigh.
"I never thought you'd be the new rookie working here..." he muttered.
"Did I surprise you, uncle?"
"Yeah, I can't believe he let you work here."
"Yep, my dad's a cool dude."
"*sigh* Let's go."
I walked alongside him as we headed to an unknown area. To be honest, I was emailed a blueprint of the place but I hadn't taken the time to drill the prison's layout into my head.
It was a quiet walk. Nothing else but our rhythmic footsteps could be heard. With a small bounce in my step, I hummed a soft tune, something my mother used to sing to put me to sleep.
"You seem far too relaxed in a prison full of criminals," exclaimed Hajime.
"You're doing fine so I will too."
"Geez, what kind of logic is that?..."
"So where are we going?"
"To check up on some very idiotic inmates."
"*laughs* Sounds like fun."
"It's nothing but irritating."
"You must have a tough time dealing with them."
"I'm used to it."
We arrived in front of a cell. I gripped the bars and peeked inside. Four inmates sat inside playing a game of cards. Although it looked like they were playing halfheartedly, they seemed to be having fun.
Hajime immediately pulled me away from the door by my shirt as they all jumped up and pushed each other to come over. I tried to put on my best serious face but that failed miserably.
"Hey ojou-chan, go on a date with me!" a long-haired man exclaimed.

"She's not dating anyone!" Hajime yelled, silencing their chatter.
"Who is she anyway?" asked a green-haired boy.
"Her name's (Y/n), a new guard and also my niece so if you four try to do something to her, I'll kill you."
"Eh?! You mean she's related to you?!" they all yelled.
Hajime punched the metal door, creating a giant dent and told them to 'shut the hell up'. I was tasked with looking after them while he went to do some paperwork.
~A few minutes later~
My eyes shone, full of awe and surprise. The guy named Jyugo had escaped so effortlessly. I asked him to do it again and again, completely fascinated by his gift.
"Ne (Y/n), I'm getting bored. Can't we go now?" Nico asked.
"Yeah, I'm hungry," added Rock.
"Where do you want to go?"
"On a date," Uno replied.
"I'm sorry, dating is strictly prohibited."
"Aww, come on."
"Guys, let's go," said Jyugo.
Before I knew it, he had pulled me along with his hand gripping onto my long sleeve like a child. I stared at his features while they led the way, trying to find out what was on his mind.
Were they even allowed to go out? Well, I guess it couldn't hurt. I was technically a guard. While walking, I couldn't help but think that they seemed too carefree to be stuck in a prison, especially this one.
Did they want to see the outside world? Why were they here? What did they do? Curiosity filled my mind like water filling up a tank. All these questions, all these thoughts...trapped inside my head.
"(Y/n), is something wrong?" Rock asked.
"Huh? No, I was just thinking- watch out!"
I pulled Jyugo towards me, pushing the others so that our bodies lay flat against the wall as the ax swung down. With a glare, I turned towards the male who had activated the trap.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?"

"A guard protecting criminals? What a rare sight," he said, stepping out from the shadows.
"Elf..." Jyugo exclaimed.
"'Elf'? Do you know him?"
He wasn't given a chance to answer. Daggers were thrown our way, almost hitting me square in the face until Nico pulled me away. I sighed in relief but gaped at the sight before me.
Jyugo's arms...they were transforming into blades. What the hell was going on? I reached my hand out but thought better of it and retracted it, afraid of what he'd do.
"Nico, Rock, go get Hajime. I'll look after (Y/n)," Uno said.
The two ran off, leaving us behind.
"J-Jyugo..."
"(Y/n), I won't let him get close. He's going to regret showing his face to me," Jyugo growled.
"...I'll handle him. Your sentence will just get heavier."
"What? But you're just-"
"Hmm, so does being a girl mean I can't fight?" I asked Uno.
I stood up and out of his hold before ducking under Jyugo's blades to stand with my back facing him. He immediately crossed them in front of me, preventing me from continuing any further.
The warmth of his breath tickled my neck as he told me to go back. I turned around and gently pried his arms down. He just stood still with his lips slightly parted as if he was trying to find something to say.
"Don't worry, I'm skilled at hand-to-hand combat and I have a weapon."
"A weapon? I'm interested to see that," exclaimed Elf.
I pulled it out from my pocket, a large smirk on my face.
"...you're kidding...right?" he asked in disbelief.
"Nup, these cat-shaped key rings are my weapons."
"*laughs* You'll die before you even try."
I simply smiled mockingly. He was behind me within the blink of an eye but I took this chance to jump back and flip him onto his back. I stabbed the cat's blade-like ears into his shoulder, making him scream out in pain.
Without warning, he disappeared from my grasp. The next moment, I heard a dagger being thrown towards me. It managed to scrape my thigh but I remained unfazed.
"Come out and face me, you coward!"
Suddenly, he was behind Jyugo with a knife at his throat. I quickly threw a keyring at him but he dodged it without any effort. The knife pierced Jyugo's skin, making me stop in my tracks.
"Let him go."
"Why are you so protective over him? He's a criminal who deserves to be punished."
"That doesn't mean that you can kill him."
He threw another dagger at me, daring me to dodge it but I knew perfectly well that he would kill Jyugo if I did. It scraped my arm but I didn't flinch.
Uno tried to help but he was already helplessly tied down by blades. I stood still as he threw dagger after dagger, giving no reaction even when they grazed my skin.
"Are you even human?" he asked.
We heard yelling in the distance. Elf had disappeared by the time Rock, Nico and Hajime got here. I quickly ran over to check Jyugo for any injuries.
"Your neck's gonna need to be treated but thank god you're okay..."
I pulled him into a tight hug but he was staring at me in pure shock. I cupped his face, checking for any injuries on his face but he seemed fine.
"How...are you not freaking out?" he asked.
"(Y/n)'s not so easily scared and her pain resistance is incredible. But what the hell are you guys doing out here?! And (Y/n), you were supposed to make sure that they wouldn't escape!" Hajime yelled angrily.
"*fake gasp* You're not concerned by my scratches?"
"You call those wounds scratches?!" Nico and Rock asked.
"Geez, let's head back," Hajime ordered.
I smiled but jumped in surprise when Jyugo suddenly grabbed my hand, somewhat like a jealous child.
"Hmm, has Jyugo taken a liking to her?" Uno asked with a smirk.
"...what...did you just say?" Hajime asked.

Most of the population has died and survivors have banded together to form new settlements and societies. Carter and Lucas settle in to the new ways of the world, becoming adventurers like many others to protect their home and hunt what's needed. Occasionally, they even find time to go on an adventure of their own or just sit back and relax for a little while. There will be: wolfboys, catboys, fairy boys, and more, and there might even a harem of them. I haven't decided for sure if there's a harem yet or not, but I've put the tag on because it's not outside of the realm of possibility. There is also a Level reset mechanic that will come into play. This is not an OP powerfantasy. While the MC will grow strong, he won't become ridiculously powerful for an adventurer and will meet others at or above his own level of might from time to time. There will be times he struggles, fails, or needs to retreat. There is no posting schedule. Chapters will go up when I post them.

Code Reader Kagami (LitRPG)
Sometimes things happen in this world that we are not in control of. Sometimes we are to a certain degree, and sometimes we are completely in control. However, this is a tale that constantly questions those boundaries. The story follows Kagami, a young programmer, as he winds up in a world almost alien to him. If it were up to him, he would have never visited this world and would rather stay raising his young daughter. Was it through his own actions that he had wound up here? Was it due to several combinations of factors? Or was it something he completely chose. These are questions that constantly haunt Kagami’s mind as he wanders this world and ponders his actions. Unfortunately, the glaring truth of it all refuses to ever look him in the eyes. Each night as he looks up at the night sky, he wonders if the end of this would turn out like the game he made. A tale of Guts and Glory… or would it turn out like he fears, a tale of blood and tears. Regardless of how it turns out, he will one day unveil the truth enshrouding it all. And perhaps in doing so, unveil the fate of his old world, enshrouded by mystery. ___________________________________________________________________________ While this is a typical Isekai started by the infamous truck-kun, the story is most definitely not what is to be taken at face value. I love making tragic twists into these types of stories. For Code Reader Kagami, you'll begin to see a descent into psychological madness. As your hero changes entirely from the moral man he initially was. If you're not a fan of dark aspect stories, this one is not for you. Thank you~
