Anime: Death Note
(Y/n)'s POV
A soft sneeze escaped my mouth. The cold wind blew past without a care in the world. Grey clouds covered the beautiful blue sky, creating a sense of gloom and deprivation of warmth.
I stuffed my hands into my pockets, and quickened my pace. In this cold weather, I'd prefer to be in the comfort of my own home but I promised him we could meet up. To my surprise, my eyes were covered from behind, making me stop.
"Light."
"Yes (Y/n)?"
"*sigh*"
"I missed you," he replied with a chuckle.
I turned around, only to have him wrap a scarf around my neck. It was a (f/c) cashmere one, which made me question how he got his hands on something so expensive.
"Want to talk somewhere more private?" he asked.
I nodded. He reached into my pocket and pulled my hand out. I interlaced my fingers with his. We headed to the city, where our usual cafe was.
There were very few customers but the food here was great...according to Light anyway. Apparently something had happened to my tastebuds when I was a child so I couldn't taste much.
"So how's everything going?"
"I wish life was easier," replied Light.
"Tch, says you."
"It's tiring. I've never met someone like L."
"Finally found someone on your level?"
"I already have you and that's more than enough."
"But it must be fun to compete with him, right?"
"*smiles* Yeah, you're right."
He placed a gentle kiss on my knuckles, which made my cheeks heat up. I blushed even more when he laughed at my reaction, calling me cute.
"I'm still trying to figure out why you can't see Ryuk," he exclaimed.
"Is he here right now?"

"Yes...unfortunately."
"That must be awkward."
"Yeah, but he's just floating so we're fine."
"Want to order something?"
"Sorry but I promised L that I would go back."
"Then I'm going too. You could use my help."
"I don't have to worry about you, do I?"
"Hmph, I'm not the girlfriend of the top student for nothing."
~Some time later~
"Hmm..." L exclaimed, deep in thought.
I raised an eyebrow, waiting for his answer. Tch, it felt like I was under examination in a primary school. He had made me take a couple of tests. It was only when he started marking them did he behave so...strangely.
He scrunched the paper up as if they were nothing and aimed for the bin. I couldn't believe that I wasted an hour of my time just for all of it to go waste so easily...
"Okay, you pass. I'll let you in on the investigation," he said.
"I'm sorry about all this, (Y/n). It's just for safety-"
"Don't worry, Mr Yagami. Those tests were nothing."
"(Y/n), I need to ask you a somewhat personal question," L exclaimed.
"Yeah?"
"How long have you known Light for?"
"Around 2-3 years...why?"
"No reason, just curious."
"Are you done questioning her?" Light asked, seemingly a little irritated.
"Are you annoyed?"
"Anyone would be if a man was questioning their girlfriend so intensely."
"I guess that's true."
I looked past them, at the stacks of documents beside a large set of computers. Were these all notes on the investigation? I looked through the paper despite the others telling me to stop.
A naive-looking man kept pestering me about them being classified information and that only L and Light were allowed access. I sighed deeply before sitting him down.

Light gave me a squeeze on the shoulders as if to tell me that it was fine. I faced the man.
"Do you know who I am?"
"Light's girlfriend?"
"Right, and you're just a lowly police officer. Let me ask you a question. Did you do anything to help with the kira investigation?"
"N-no..."
"My point exactly."
"That's..."
"*laughs* I'm kidding. I'm not that mean."
"It seems that (Y/n)-chan's good at interrogating idiots," L commented.
Light immediately found my hand, giving it a slight squeeze. This act of jealousy made me smirk but his pleading gaze was enough to make me stop myself before I began to tease him.
He must really want to beat L. I wouldn't want to ruin that for him. Despite the detective's suspicious appearance, his intelligence was undoubtedly as good as Light's.
I couldn't compete against these two. They were beyond my league but I wasn't such an average person. Without realising, I leaned back, indirectly making Light catch me.
He grunted beneath my weight, which made me giggle. I heard a sigh behind me but knew that he didn't mind. A frown appeared on my face. He was always doing things for me but what have I ever done for him?
"(Y/n)," he said.
Startled, I stood up straight and looked at him.
"Are you alright?" he asked, concern hinting towards worry.
"Yeah, why?"
"You're..."
His expression was one of serious thought but his eyes never left my body. Without warning, L forcefully reached towards my arm and yanked it closer to his body.
"Ow!"
"What are you doing?" Light asked, placing a hand on my arm.
"Making her remember," replied L.
No one's POV
L hit the back of (Y/n)'s back, freezing her in place. Light was clearly angered by the way his girlfriend was being treated by his archenemy.
To everyone's shock, L pushed on her neck and a small panel opened...like a robot. He used tweezers to grab a small chip before connecting her to his computer, seemingly installing some sort of program.
"It seems that she's forgotten her mission because of you, Light. But no matter, I have her memory disk," L exclaimed calmly.
"What is all this? You're saying (Y/n)'s a robot? And she was sent to spy on me?" Light asked, unable to contain his surprise.
"Yes, that's exactly what I wanted to say. I've suspected you for quite a while and sending in an AI would've been perfect."
"Then..."
"Yes, all her feelings are fake. She's just a machine...although I doubt she's even aware of herself being a robot."
(Y/n)'s POV
I grabbed the cord but L gave me a look that told me not to.
"You'll black out. I'm reprogramming your settings and erasing everything that you've ever known."
"You have no right to do this to me!"
"I do actually. You're just a toy I ordered to be made."
"B-but..."
"L, let her go," Light commanded.
"Do you admit to your crimes as Kira? If you do, I'll return her with all her memories, and unharmed."
"*sigh* I've said this many times. I'm not Kira."
"I have evidence. Will you still deny the fact that you're Kira? This is your last chance to save her."
I looked at Light but his expression gave nothing away. The others were all incredibly shocked but they were nonexistent in our serious conversation.
"Light, thank you for everything you've ever done for me. I know this is probably strange to say it now but I love you. You would never be Kira, I know so."
I snatched the chip off L and crushed it before deleting all of my data. I looked at Light for the last time before shutting down...forever.
