(Y/n)'s POV
I bowed my head, keeping it lowered for fear of seeing the judging looks of the passing crowds. The anger rising in my boss's voice attracted quite a lot of attention.
"You pathetic girl! You were supposed to put these clothes here! How can you mess up such a simple job?!" he yelled.
"Y-you told me yesterday to put-"
"You're putting the blame on me now?! Tch, with your attitude, I might as well fire you."
"...I'm sorry, sir."
"You should be. Get back to work...useless girl."
He pushed past me and shoved me to the side, along with the pile of clothes I had organised for hours on end. I clenched my fists, extremely irritated by the fact that he had continuously picked on me without any remorse.
What did I do to offend him? Why was he treating me like this? I...hated myself. I didn't even have the courage to file a complaint. I knew that I couldn't win against his lies and threats...
Unfortunately, this job was the only one I could find. Although the salary wasn't very high, it was enough to help me pay for the bare necessities. I've always wondered though...did I do something unforgivable in my past life?
~Lunchtime~
"(Y/n)."
I turned around to face my boss despite the fact that I was famished. I had hurried to work because of the enormous pile of clothes I had to sort out, forgetting to have breakfast along the way.
"Yes sir?"
"Due to your irresponsible mistakes, you will not be allowed a lunch break. I believe you still have some things to organise," he exclaimed.
"But-"
"Are you defying my order?"
"...no sir, I'll get straight to work..."
As soon as I turned around, he stopped me from going. I held back a sigh. What was it now? If I was to be honest, then I would've gladly handed him over to the devil if given the chance.

"I have a favour to ask you," he began.
"What favour?"
"My friend's looking for a model, a spokeswoman of sorts. Do you think you'll be up to the job?"
"What sort of spokeswoman?"
"Well, that's..."
He showed me a site on his phone, which made all the colour drain from my face. These...who the hell did he think I was?! This was going way too far. I couldn't do this.
"I'm sorry, I'm not-"
"Please. I'll raise your pay. You look like you have a good body so..."
"I'm not interested."
"What? I'm offering you a chance to relive your pathetic life!"
"I'm-"
"Take this chance!"
"No-"
Someone pushed his way in front of me before facing my fuming boss. The man began speaking before I could interject.
"She's clearly upset by your behaviour. Why don't you stop?"
"Who are you to barge into my business?"
"Is she your employee? Why are you harassing her so much? Every time I walk past, you're always scolding her for silly mistakes. I ignored it at first, thinking it was probably rude of me to ask about it but this is too much."
"Get lost, pretty boy. I have nothing to say to you."
"Well, she wants to quit her job."
"Oh? And where else will she work if not here?"
"T-that, I-I'll take care of. Have a pleasantly horrible afternoon."
"Hey-"
Before I could even begin to protest, the man led me away from my boss and out into the busy streets. I stopped him before we could go any further, feeling both confused and grateful.
"I'm not letting you go back," he said while turning around.
"S-Sunohara...Momose..."
"You know me?"
"*nods* Why did you do that?"
"Isn't it obvious? He was a complete jerk."

"But my job..."
"I'll ask my manager to get you another one."
"I can't possibly ask-"
"It's fine, I'm sure he'll understand."
"But-"
"No buts."
I frowned. It would be rude of me to ask a stranger to provide me with a job. *sigh* And to think I really met Re:vale's Momo...I couldn't tell if my life was blessed or cursed.
"Damn, Yuki's gonna kill me if he found out that I made you quit. We better hurry."
He reached for my hand and began dragging me to the train station. I was still too shocked to protest against his wishes and instead, let him take me away.
Along the way, my stomach grumbled despite my trying to hide it. Momo looked at me and burst into laughter. I couldn't help but blush in embarrassment.
"Let's get some food first, (Y/n)."
"H-how do you know my name?"
"I heard your boss calling you that every time I walked past. Feel free to call me Momo. Don't even start with the formalities."
"O-okay, Momo-san."
He sighed but let it go as we headed into a ramen stall. I waited for him to order before we sat down by the corner. Just as I was about to pay him back, he stopped me, saying that I should save my money for the train.
"But you don't even know me."
"Yes I do. Your name's (Y/n) and you hate your old boss," he replied with a cheeky grin.
"Well- of course you'd know that but Momo-san-"
"Okay, first of all, you need to stop with that."
"Stop with what? Momo-san?"
"Yes, exactly that."
"Then...Momose-san."
"Ugh, you can't be serious..."
"*laughs* I'm sorry."
"Just Momo. Don't feel as if it's impolite."
"Fine...Momo."
"That's right."
He smiled happily. I couldn't help but smile at the sight of him. He was too cute for his own good. Our ramen came, making me remember just how hungry I was.
That was when a man came to our table. We both looked up at see Yuki looking down at us but his gaze was mostly on Momo. Momo greeted him with a nervous smile while he raised an eyebrow.
"What's going on here?" he asked.
"Can't you see? We're on a date. Now if you'll leave us alone-"
"Date?! Momo, don't put such absurd ideas into his head!"
"And you are?" Yuki asked.
"Ah, sorry. My name's (L/n) (Y/n). Momo helped me out with some things..."
"Yeah, I'm helping her look for a new job. I kinda made her lose her previous one..."
"You what?!"
Momo reached out to pull Yuki down so that he could whisper some unheard words into his ear. Yuki sighed before saying a goodbye and leaving.
Momo gestured for me to eat my ramen while a cheeky grin graced his face. I looked at him in confusion but didn't bother questioning him about it for fear that it might be something personal.
As soon as we finished our food, we went to a nearby park. I didn't know why we were here but decided to trust Momo's decisions. We had to be here for a reason...right?
"Hey (Y/n), want to go to an amusement park?" he asked.
"Why?"
"It's boring here and besides, I haven't had the chance to hang out with a friend for ages."
"Isn't Yuki your friend?"
"*pouts* Whatever. Do you want to or not?"
"You know, if you keep doing things like this, I might begin to misunderstand your intentions."
"Who cares?" he replied with a slight smirk.
"...baka."
"Then come on. I'll make you forget about all the bad moments in your life and plus, Yuki texted me saying that our manager found a job for you."
"*smiles* Thank you so much!"

Tales of Mana
Announcement: I (the author) am currently on a journey through guides, feedback and countless pages of miscellaneous other stuff to improve this work. I will not change the plot, but the style should be improved by a lot. I also intend to give more insights on the world and its characters. Once that is taken care of, this message will be removed. Until then, I wish you keep this in mind if you keep reading. - You know the stories about how some random person get's resurrected as the hero of a fantasy world after dying in their previous one? Well.. Mana may have been revived, but definitely not as a hero. This world does not require to be saved. It has to be changed. However.. how much can something be bent.. before breaking? - Mature tag due to: description of gory scenes. Some violence. This will go down after the first few chapters, but will resurface later on. Example: """"had literally drowned on its own blood"""". No sx scenes. To get some things out of the way: -this is my first submission, and the first story I ever wrote. If you find mistakes, or have something to criticize, please do so, but DON'T just write """"xy = bad"""". Explain me how to improve. Would be nice.
