(A/N): Hey, I'm sorry if I get his personality wrong. He doesn't exactly have a big role in the anime so yeah...sorry for the inconvenience
(Y/n)'s POV
I pulled Carla along the frost-covered path, towards our ancient mansion. Our residence remained hidden from the real world like a myth materialising as nothing more than a small whisper.
Shin was waiting by the large double doors with a grin on his face. I smiled happily as I showed him the fresh strawberries Carla and I had picked throughout the morning.
"Shin-nii, these will be delicious. I'll make some strawberry cake with them."
"Human food?" he asked, a little disappointed by the fact that I couldn't offer anything other than that.
"*frowns* Fine then, don't have any. I'll eat it all by myself."
"I'm going inside," Carla exclaimed coldly before leaving.
"Did something happen with him?" Shin asked.
"I don't know. He was fine this morning..."
Shin shrugged as if he didn't care about his brother's sudden refusal to be in our presence. I, on the other hand, was a little upset about him leaving. I didn't notice anything wrong this morning...
Perhaps I may have done something that upset him. Carla was always honest and sometimes tended to be blunt with me while Shin often took a while to realise his true feelings.
"I want some cake later," Shin exclaimed quietly and left before I could reply.
With nothing else to do, I set off to the kitchen with the basket of strawberries in my hand. I was left in shock as soon as I stepped foot into what I thought was a kitchen...well, my kitchen. Carla and Shin rarely came in here.
Carla didn't even acknowledge my presence as he got out various bowls and utensils. I hesitantly went to his side and began washing the strawberries. Unexpectedly, he slipped an apron on over my head and tied it around my waist.

"T-thank you."
"Shall we start then?" he asked, masking all his emotions behind his stoic expression.
"*smiles* Sure."
To be honest, I had fallen for him but these feelings were forced back into the room for the forgotten. Carla has rarely shown any sort of emotion towards me with only his actions acting as the evidence that he did indeed have a heart.
His hatred for my kind was also another factor affecting my love. I was only a young vampire when they found me in the forest, alone and injured. They claimed that I was rescued in order for them to carry out their tests but I experienced none of these so-called experiments.
Although Carla has already told me that I was no longer needed for their exams, I was worried that I was just a test subject in his eyes. After all, I held no worth compared to a first blood.
"Now that the batter's done, let's start making the icing."
"Icing..." he started.
"Or would you prefer the one bought from the store? I don't mind, either one's fine with me."
"Do you not have a preference?"
"Hmm, not really. Whichever you choose will be fine."
"I want your opinion."
Without realising it, I had begun to slowly back away as he continued to walk towards me. He was still waiting for my response but I was too nervous with how close he was getting to answer.
His piercing gaze remained unmoving as I felt a sliver of fear run through my body. I had no clue as to what was on his mind and did not know how to react to this situation.
"C-Carla-nii, are you okay?"
He ignored my question. I noticed his eyes widen as I bumped into the unsteady shelf that had been left unfixed for an extended period of time.

"(Y/n)!"
Everything inside collapsed on top of me, making me shield myself from the equipment. Despite trying to protect myself, blood dripped down my face and onto the floor.
I looked up to see Carla's face glowing with anger. I quickly pressed a hand to my wound and busied myself with tidying the mess I had made. I didn't like this side of him...I was terrified.
"I-I'm sorry, I'll clean it up-"
"Why?! You should have known that that shelf was broken," he exclaimed with a tone that suggested I need punishment.
"P-please forgive me..."
He moved his hand, making me close my eyes.
"C-Carla, stop!" I heard Shin yell.
To my surprise, I was pulled up to my feet and into an awkward hug. I opened my eyes to see Shin staring at his brother with an open mouth.
I giggled, unable to stop myself. Shin was also laughing, which made Carla blush a slight pink. I leaned into him, no longer afraid of the monster that was only there as an illusion.
"I-I read that girls like hugs when they are hurt," Carla admitted quietly.
"*giggles* That only applies to some girls."
"What about you?"
"I like hugs."
"Oi guys, the cake!"
We heard a boom behind us, implying that something had gone wrong. The cake wasn't supposed to explode in the oven. Carla looked away from my gaze before walking away.
"Carla-nii, did you put something inside that you shouldn't have?"
"I'm offended that you would even suggest such a thing," he replied.
"Sorry, it's just that I've never seen you bake a cake before..."
"Does one need to act it out to know how something's done?"
"N-no but-"
"Come on, stop making her apologise. She's already our little sister and I'm pretty sure family members aren't servants of one another. Well, a younger sister to me but maybe something more for you," Shin remarked, smirking.
"I suggest you close that mouth of yours and leave us alone," replied Carla.
"Oh, I see how it is. Have fun then."
Shin left the room, leaving an awkward silence hanging in the air. The kitchen was a mess and so was my head. Carla's actions confused me yet he had always done that. It was always anger followed by an unexpectedly sweet gesture.
"(Y/n), I l- no, it doesn't matter. Just get your wound treated before I stop holding myself back," Carla exclaimed.
"O-okay and I love you too."
"W-what?"
"Of course, I love Shin-nii as well."
"Oh, yes. That's what you meant..."
I'd never confess that I love you before you tell me your real feelings so please, don't make me wait any longer...

Trickster's Tale
Be careful when demanding reparations from gods. They rarely own up to their mistakes. Instead, she curses him with cowardice, limiting his combat and magical potential. Little does the goddess know that nothing can stand in the way of Perry's sheer will. If brute strength and arcane might won't get him the justice he desires, wit and creativity will. Perry's first target? A goblin shaman. Then, the world. And so begins, the bard's ballad. Trickster's Tale (Book 1): Is That A Lute In Your Pocket will release on Kindle Unlimited on the 10th of May.Due to KU's exclusivity rules, I've had to take most of book 1 down.Book 1 Bard's Ballad takes place in the same extended Universe as my other story, The Houndsman. It's set on a distant 'disk', though. As a result, the magic system is unique in comparison and has a harder LitRPG system. While the story utilises stats, it doesn't take them seriously and occasionally makes fun of regular LitRPG mechanics.
