Anime: Pandora Hearts

(A/N): Hey, I hope you don't mind but I'll be spelling his surname as 'Bezarius'. I know it's Vessalius in the manga but I haven't read it and I'm more used to the one seen in the anime. I'm sorry if this isn't to your liking but please enjoy this oneshot.
(Y/n)'s POV
I hurried past the rubble and debris that lay scattered across the blood-smeared ground. An endless apocalypse; a darkening hope being crushed by the negating sky.
I was only a girl, a girl fighting against the dangers that were now going to devour my very soul. The chains from the abyss had gotten through and I was the only human in sight.
Everyone else had either escaped or gotten themselves killed. I was running for my life, desperate to keep this fire alight even if just for a while longer. I...wanted to live.
"Hey, over here!"
A young boy with blonde hair motioned for me to follow him, which I did without question. In my eyes, he was a ray of light; a sliver of hope that had boldly shown itself in this dark, dark era.
I was pulled around the corner as he pressed his body against mine in order to hide our presence from the giant chain. It walked past without so much as looking in our direction.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
"Y-yeah, thank you."
"Come on, I have to meet up with my friends."
Before I could reply, he had already grabbed my hand and began leading me away from the dangerous beings that threatened to consume us. We met up with a black-haired man and young girl.
"Where's Break?" asked the boy.
"He's clearing the place. We better leave now," replied the man.

I was again dragged by the blonde as we began making our way out of this town. I glanced back, feeling a rush of emotions flow through my body.
Father...mother...I didn't even have the time to mourn over their deaths. Our little house...our livelihood...all gone. I swear I would kill all those chains, even if it cost me my life.
~Some time later~
I was given a new change of clothes and some snacks to eat. As I nibbled on the biscuits, I couldn't help but feel completely and utterly useless. I couldn't do a thing...
"Hey, what's your name?" asked the boy.
"It's (Y/n) (L/n)."
"I'm Oz, that's Gil and Alice."
"Nice to meet you all."
"There's no need to be so nervous. We're not the bad guys, you know."
"...sorry, I didn't mean to-"
"Nah, don't worry. You must've been through a lot, right? Where are your parents?-"
"Dead."
I forced back my tears as I left the room, ignoring their calls for me to come back. I rushed outside and hid beneath the shade of a tree.
My parents were never coming back and I hadn't even bothered to fight off the chains that had devoured them. I had run off like a coward, following the last wishes of my deceased parents.
I cried silently into my arms as the time flew by without a care in the world. That's right...no matter what hardships we faced, the time would keep moving forward. It waited for no one and I would have to keep moving to catch up. I wasn't going to be left behind.
"Hey."
Oz sat down beside me as I lifted my head up to look at him.
"Sorry about before. I didn't mean to..." he started.

"Don't worry, you didn't know."
"Anyway, I'm going to help Alice retrieve her memories. Want to come with us? I would love to have you come along."
"*smiles* I'm a very boring person. Are you sure you still want me?"
"Yes, positive."
"I'm not very good at fighting."
"Then you can learn."
"...you'll always find a reason for me to go with you, won't you?"
"Hehe, yeah."
I just cracked a small smile and took his warm hand. His fingers interlocked with mine as we made a vow to protect each other for as long as we were together.
He suddenly stood up, as if something important had crossed his mind. I tilted my head in confusion as he ran up to Gil, who had come out with Alice.
"Yo (Y/n), catch!"
I caught the pistol after a few embarrassing attempts at securing it in my hands.
"Gil's gonna teach you how to use it to defend yourself," Oz exclaimed.
"Eh?! Use a gun?!"
"Come on, it's not that big of a deal," Alice said.
"A-alright."
Gil helped me with the positioning as soon as we had found a suitable target for practice. I nervously held the gun up, aiming shakily at the tree.
"Now just pull the trigger. The recoil can be a little strong but it won't kill you," Gil explained.
"Kill me?!"
"He's just thinking way beyond the worst case scenario. Just calm down and shoot," replied Oz.
I placed my finger on the trigger but couldn't find the nerve to pull down. From a young age, I was kept away from weapons due to my fear of seeing them in action. This phobia had stimulated from a stupid game I had played when I was younger.
Unexpectedly, Oz stood behind me and gently put his hands on mine. I felt his fingers slowly pull the trigger. I stumbled backwards from the blow of the shot, causing Oz to fall on his back.
"Ah, sorry!"
I immediately tried to help him up, but he just pulled me down. I laid on the ground beside him and looked at the vast sky. It was so blue and clear, completely unlike the dark, cloudy look it had taken on before.
"Tch, what children," Alice commented.
"It's not childish, Alice," Oz replied.
"Whatever, I'm going back inside to eat cake."
Gil had gone somewhere to practice some more shooting. I closed my eyes and felt the breeze blow across my body. A sigh escaped my lips as I allowed myself to relax for the first time in ages.
"Hey, you're a part of our family now so you don't have to feel lonely again," Oz said quietly.
"But..."
"You're worried about abandoning your parents? I'm sure they wouldn't want you to be alone."
"What about your parents?"
"...I never had any parents."
"Oh, I'm sorry."
"It's fine. I've gotten over it."
"...hey, you won't leave me alone, right?"
"Of course not."
I let Oz help me up before we headed back inside. As soon as we got through the door, confetti and flower petals fell over our heads. We looked at him in confusion as a man with silver hair congratulated us.
"What's going on?"
"Welcome to the family!" he exclaimed.
"...eh?"
"Alice told me that you two were getting engaged."
We heard a snicker behind him as Alice revealed herself. She had a huge smirk on her face.
"Oi!" Oz yelled, annoyed.
"Come and catch me if you can!" she replied.
"(Y/n), let's go!"
