Anime: Owari no Seraph
(Y/n)'s POV
I kept on running through the endless mobs of people and crumbling buildings. No matter what, I needed to survive. I couldn't fail my parents' last and final wish.
The screams of everyone's voices and slashes of swords and knives clouded my ears. The smoke covered my vision as I tried to run far away from the chaotic era that had fallen upon us.
What I definitely didn't need was dying alone and unwanted. If I couldn't survive, then I'd just be a failure...a disgusting beggar on the streets with nobody by my side.
"I've got you, little girl."
I turned around quick enough to dodge his incoming sword. It was so close to my cheek that I thought I was going to die. Before he could land his hit, I rolled to the side and quickly stood up on my feet.
"You're a fast one, aren't you?" asked the silver-haired vampire.
"Tch, like you just noticed."
"And feisty as well."
I ignored him and held his playful gaze. I wouldn't lose to this monster. As I slowly inched away, he walked towards me. I couldn't outrun him nor fight him off. What the hell was I supposed to do in this dire situation?
In the blink of an eye, he was already in front of me with a knife held to my throat. I grabbed the knife's blade and ripped it out of his grasp before jumping away.
I controlled my blood to form into a scythe before gingerly taking it in my injured hand. His eyes widened for a split second but it was soon replaced by a knowing smirk.
"You're one of those rare half breeds, aren't you? You guys aren't exactly as strong and fast as pure vampires. In fact, you're more similar to humans but you do harbour one special ability to make up for that, isn't that right?"

"I don't need you to state the obvious."
"You can't last in that condition, can you? Unlike us, human food can keep you stable for a few days but you'll need blood eventually. So? Who's were you drinking for your whole life? Your mum's? Dad's?" he asked, completely ignoring my statement.
"Shut up!"
I swung the weapon at him but he was right. I was terribly unstable in this condition. I wouldn't be able to last for much longer.
Soon enough, he raised his sword above my head and slashed down. I closed my eyes and waited for the pain but nothing came, nothing at all...
"Leave her alone," exclaimed a blonde-haired vampire.
He...Mikaela?! How was he still here?! I thought he had died along with everyone else...after all, they were all bloodied and unconscious when I had arrived at the scene.
"Mika, push your feelings aside. That girl is dangerous to us."
"Leave her be. I'll take the responsibility for looking after her. If she goes out of control then you can kill me," he replied with his sword still pointed at the silver-haired vampire.
"Hmm, I'll let you go this time but don't forget, you owe me one...Mika."
He disappeared from our view as he jumped onto a building and escaped. Mika soon turned to me and knelt down. I slowly retracted my blood and just stared at him, too shocked to do anything.
For me, it felt like I had just seen the boy I loved come back from the dead. How was he here? I...couldn't comprehend this at all.
He reached out his hand and pulled me close. His firm arms wrapped around my body as he pulled me into a tight hug. Before I realised it, tears had begun sliding down my cheeks.

"M-Mika, I...I..."
"It's alright, all that matters is that I'm here now. Now drink, you can't survive much longer in that condition," he replied.
"I can't-"
"You have to. I won't die, you know."
I pushed him away and took a few shaky steps back. I couldn't get tempted, I had to control this painful thirst.
"(Y/n)..."
He bit into his wrist before pulling me closer by my arm. Soon enough, he had his lips on mine. I could feel his warm blood trickling down my throat.
I couldn't hold back any longer. I bit into his neck and drank. It was refreshing and pleasurable. I didn't want to stop, it was hard to but I had to.
"I-I'm sorry..."
"Let's go back," he exclaimed with an extended hand.
"G-go where?"
"My...new home..."
I hesitantly reached out and grabbed his hand. He smiled gently before leading the way out of the dump. I couldn't have been more grateful to have found someone who'd stay by my side.
Mikaela's POV
I was now carrying a sleeping (Y/n) in my arms. I was sorry, and guilty. I felt sorry for leaving her all alone in this harsh world. I was guilty that I never executed any effort to confess my feelings before.
I had lived a few painful years of loneliness, thinking that I no longer had anyone that would ever be by my side. But that changed when I saw (Y/n).
I headed to my room and placed her on the bed before pulling the blanket over her cold body. It was almost like I was holding a corpse. She had probably gone too long without blood...just like how I had done before...
She stirred in her sleep. Her expression was one of pain and suffering. I felt a vice-like grip clench my already wounded heart. What was I doing all those times before? I should've spent more effort trying to find her.
She had occupied my mind every day for the past few years. After all, it wasn't the goodbyes that hurt...it was the flashbacks that followed... You don't realise what you really have until you lose it.
"H-huh? Where are we?" (Y/n) asked while sitting up.
"My room."
"Oh."
"Do you want some food?"
"Yes please."
"There should be some spare clothes in the closet. I'll be back soon."
I headed outside and went to the warehouse where all our human food was kept. I searched the lined shelves, trying to find (Y/n)'s favourite snack. I wasn't even sure if we had them.
After deciding that it wasn't here, I grabbed some bread and jam before heading back. As I opened the door, what I saw would traumatise me for life.
"Oh, sorry Mika. They were orders from higher up. We can't let her live here, now can we?"
"Ferid!"
I dropped the food and charged at him but he simply jumped out the window and disappeared from view. I quickly ran to (Y/n)'s limp body and picked her up. Tears were streaming down my face.
"H-hey, wake up."
"M-Mika..."
"Don't die on me. You can't. I'll-"
"No...I-I won't s-survive..."
"Yes you will-"
"I've...always loved you...y-you know t-that, right?" she said with a weak smile.
Her eyes slowly closed. I gently shook her body and yelled out her name but she remained still...just like a corpse. N-no, this could not be happening...
"(Y/n)...I loved you too...so don't you dare leave me alone again...please..."
