《Sinful |Klaus Mikaelson||》Stand By Me

Audrey looked around with confusion and frowned. Why was she walking around aimlessly in the woods when she had just been in Klaus's bed? She continued walking forward until a small clearing came into view. There was fog covering the meadow but she could still see something lying in the middle. As she got closer she realized it was a body. She started running now to help whoever was hurt but once she saw who the body belonged to, she collapsed onto her knees and screamed with agony.

"Jeremy! NO!" She screamed over him. He had his eyes open but blood was coming out of his mouth and nose.

"Audrey...please, help," He gasped out, struggling to breathe. She grabbed him and brought him into her lap, trying to find where he was hurt.

"Jeremy, stay with me okay? I'm going to call for help," Audrey assured her little brother through tears, brushing his hair back from his face. "You're not going to die on me."

"Aud..-," She could see the fear in his eyes as he tried to hold on. He gasped out loudly before a peaceful expression overtook his face. His eyes glazed over and his body went limp.

"Jeremy? No, no, no! Jeremy!" She screamed and cried as she held onto her brother. "Please don't leave me! Somebody help me!" The wind began to pick up dramatically as a storm quickly approached them, and right as the first crack of thunder rang through the air, Audrey woke up.

"AUDREY!" Klaus's thundering voice screamed as she shot up awake, still hysterically crying. She looked all over the room in a frantic panic before her eyes landed on Klaus. The moment she saw him she unraveled and fell apart. He wrapped his arms around her tightly and brought her in as close as he could, but she still shook violently and screamed in pain. It took her over a hour to settle down and cry herself back to sleep, but once she was sleeping Klaus made sure to force a happier dream into her head. This had become their routine since Jeremy's death. Four excruciatingly long nights of Audrey dreaming of her brother's death over and over again. The daytime wasn't much better. She would spend her days laying in bed, not talking to anyone, not even moving to get up unless it was to use the bathroom. She hadn't showered and barely ate or drank anything. She was withering away slowly and no one could do anything about it. For the first time since he was human, Niklaus Mikaelson felt completely helpless. He tried brushing it off as he entered Audrey's dreams to make sure she didn't have another nightmare.

When sunlight flooded through the bedroom Klaus awoke, immediately checking on Audrey once he did. She was awake as well, staring blankly ahead of her. Klaus sighed and leaned down to kiss her head. She was beginning to develop a slight odor from not bathing causing him to cringe. He couldn't stand watching her deteriorate any longer, so he climbed out of bed, walked to her side, and heaved her up into his arms. She gasped from the sudden movement and quickly fixed her eyes on him, yet still said nothing. He carried her into his immaculate bathroom before setting her down on her feet. She looked up at him with curiosity swirling in her wide brown eyes, he caressed her cheek and kissed her softly as he turned to start the shower. She watched him as he made sure the water was just the right temperature before walking back over to her. "Arms up," he instructed. She did as told, raising her arms to the ceiling. He slipped her night shirt off and moved to her shorts. He hooked his fingers into her shorts and panties and dragged them down her legs slowly. She felt her limbs weaken, so she quickly reached her hands out to grab his shoulders and steady herself as she stepped out of her clothes. Once Klaus stood up he began undressing himself too and even though Audrey was depressed she still appreciated the sight of his naked body. He grabbed her hand to lightly pull her towards the shower. He stepped in first, easing into the warm water, before helping his soulmate do the same. She stepped in with him, relaxing once she felt the water hit her skin. She still said nothing as he squirted shampoo into his hands and began massaging it into her scalp. Audrey closed her eyes and relished in the feeling of her soulmate taking care of her. It was the first time in days that she felt something other than unbearable grief. Klaus had never in his life done anything like this before, yet it felt easy and natural. He made sure to cover her entire head with shampoo before helping her rinse it off. They had taken many showers together, but none like this. There was no sexual tension, no giggling or laughter. Audrey was hardly holding it together. Klaus was sure if she wasn't linked to his life and all of her friends lives, she would probably kill herself. As though she could hear his silent thoughts, she leaned closer to him and wrapped her arms around him, resting her cheek against his wet chest. He embraced her back, wanting nothing more than to shield her from anymore grief or pain she will have to face. It felt like they held each other for hours, once they finally pulled away Klaus finished cleaning her hair and body and pulled them both out of the shower. He grabbed a towel for them to dry off and cover themselves with before walking them back into his bedroom. He stepped away from her to grab clothes for the two of them while she walked over to the desk sitting in the corner of the room. One of the pictures of her and Jeremy, that she grabbed before Elena burned their house down, was perched proudly. She reached out to trace Jeremy's face and felt tears stream silently down her own. Klaus dressed himself on the opposite side of the room, watching Audrey carefully. When he was finished he grabbed the clothes he chose for her and brought them over to where she stood. He held them out for her to take but she stayed cemented still, staring at the picture sadly. Klaus sighed, grabbed her shoulders and turned her to face him. He pulled the towel away from her body and slid one of her band t-shirts over her head, along with his navy blue sweatshirt that hung loosely on her. He helped her into her panties and leggings, taking note as to how skinny she had gotten within the past couple days. Once she was dressed, he lead her downstairs into the kitchen and sat her at the island.

"What would you like to eat?" He asked her, hoping she would give him an answer, she only stared at him. "Audrey, I will not play this game with you any longer. Tell me what you want to eat right now," Klaus demanded growing frustrated. Their eyes met in a challenging way, neither one of them backed down. He ripped off the vervain coated jewelry she had on and stared directly into her eyes. "Don't make me compel you."

"You wouldn't dare," She whispered, her voice hoarse and shaky. Audrey looked up at him with the most defeated expression he had ever seen. He almost gave into her, but held his composure.

"Don't test me, love. I'll do whatever is necessary to keep you healthy," Klaus stated firmly. She held his gaze for a moment longer, before finally giving up.

"Fine, I'll eat some toast with peanut butter on it," Audrey mumbled, crossing her arms over her chest with a loud, dramatic 'huff'. Klaus smirked with triumph.

"What else? You need more than just toast," He asked as he turned to begin making her food.

"I don't know? A banana maybe?" She answered unsure of herself. He glanced back at her and shot her a 'really?' look. "I'm not hungry, okay? Don't push it, you're lucky I'm eating anything at all," He wanted to lecture her about taking better care of herself, but he hadn't realized how much he missed hearing her voice until now. He couldn't ruin that by having her shut down again. Klaus gathered her breakfast onto a plate before serving it to her, staring at her intently until she lifted a piece of toast to her mouth. "Stop staring, weirdo."

"I'll stop once I know you've actually eaten something," Klaus growled, causing an unwanted shiver to creep down her spine. She rolled her eyes at him before taking a bite of the toast. "That wasn't so hard now, was it?" She ignored him and continued eating, feeling the affects of starving herself take full force. He chuckled as she practically stuffed her face, devouring everything he put on the plate. Once she finished she stared down at the plate with defeat. "Talk to me, Audrey. It helps."

"What is there to talk about?" She whispered. "Jeremy, he's...dead, and the only way to bring him back is by bringing every supernatural creature to ever exist back from the dead too." Tears started to fall down her face as she spoke, but she quickly wiped them away. Her heart broke into millions of pieces once more as she thought of her brother. The insufferable grief was beginning to swallow her whole. She pushed herself out of her chair in a panic and began to bolt for the bedroom, but Klaus sped in front of her to block her. "I can't- I-," She stuttered, but couldn't form the words she was trying to say.

"You can't run from it, Audrey. This grief your feeling will consume you if you do," Klaus said in the softest voice she'd ever heard him use. Hot tears poured out of her eyes, her throat felt on fire as she struggled to catch her breath.

"I can't do this," She cried painfully. Klaus looked deep into her eyes, tempted to compel her pain away as his heart broke for her. His phone going off distracted him enough for Audrey to slip through and run back up to his bedroom. He didn't stop her this time and instead grabbed his phone to see who messaged him. He frowned with frustration as he saw who it was. Klaus knew it was a bad idea to leave Audrey alone, but if he didn't act now he'd lose his only lead on Katherine. He sighed heavily and looked back up at the staircase where his soulmate had just disappeared to. He told himself he was doing this for her as he stepped out of the mansion. If he found Katherine he'd find the cure and have a chance to avenge Audrey's brother, hoping it would bring her the closure she needed.

Audrey stared at the decorated wall ahead of her, studying each work of art as she laid in Klaus's bed. She felt weak, exhausted, and slightly nauseous, but looking at all the beautiful paintings her soulmate had helped ease her. It was a simple distraction that she greatly appreciated. When Audrey closed her eyes she was hoping she'd fall into a deep sleep but her phone going off obnoxiously loud disrupted her. She was confused because she had let her phone die four days ago and hadn't charged it since, but she quickly realized Klaus had plugged it in at some point. She groaned miserably as she sat up to grab it. She had planned on turning it off and not answering, but once she saw Caroline's name she knew she couldn't. "Hello?" She answered quietly.

"Audrey! Oh thank God!" Caroline answered with a sigh of relief. "I tried coming over to see you, but Klaus stopped me and said you needed more time. How are you doing?"

"I...I don't even feel like a person anymore, Care," Audrey answered truthfully.

"Explain," Caroline said softly.

"It's as though the light has gone out inside of me," She whispered on the verge of tears. "All I can think about is how horrible his death was and how scared he was in his last moments. I should've been there, Caroline! I could've stopped Katherine or-," Audrey began, but her best friend quickly cut her off before she began to spiral.

"Audrey, please don't do this to yourself. None of this is your fault at all and there really wasn't anything you could've done to stop it," Caroline assured her softly. "Remember when my dad died, what was it you said to me? That I'm your person and I'm telling you that everything will be alright. Even though your world is crashing down right now, you will always have me to help lift you up again." Audrey took a moment to absorb Caroline's words and realized she was right.

"Thank you, Care. I really don't know what I would do without you," She sniffled as she wiped away her tears.

"I feel the same way about you, Aud. For instance, I have no freaking idea what I'm going to do without you at the Cheerleading competition today!" Caroline exclaimed worriedly into the phone.

"I thought Elena was filling in for me?" Audrey questioned with confusion.

"She is, but I have a weird feeling about her. Ever since Damon made her turn off her emotions she's been-," Caroline started.

"A bitch?" Audrey finished for her.

"A major one at that," Caroline groaned. "Having her turn her emotions off was the worst idea ever."

"Yeah, that's usually how most of Damon's ideas are," Audrey chuckled, surprising herself.

"Exactly what I said! This is the last time we follow one of Damon's ridiculous plans," Caroline laughed with her friend. Audrey smiled genuinely for the first time in days and she was grateful to her best friend for it. "I wish I could talk more, but I need to get to the school. Can I swing by later and see you?"

"Of course, I'd love that," Audrey agreed.

"Great! See you later, love you!" Caroline cheered happily into the phone.

"I love you too, Care. I hope you guys kick ass today," Audrey said before hanging up and falling back into bed. If there was one thing she could always count on it was her best friend to make her feel better. Audrey took a deep breath in and sat up in bed, feeling all of her muscles and joints ache. She knew she needed to stop sulking, but this grief was unlike anything she had felt before. It didn't matter how many friends she had or if she had Klaus and his family to rely on, nobody could replace the hole in her heart that Jeremy left. For as long as she could remember it had always been her and Jeremy against the world. When they were all kids, Elena would cry constantly about how Audrey and Jeremy would leave her out and wouldn't play with her. Their parents would have to sit them all down and have a talk about it, but nothing would change. The two younger siblings had a bond they shared with no one else. How was she supposed to go on living without Jeremy? The past two years had been filled with nothing but grief and anxiety for Audrey and her family. How much more was she going to have to take? The smell of delicious food wafted through the air, capturing Audrey's attention. Why was Klaus cooking? A painful cry emitted from her stomach as she clutched it. Refusing to eat for several days was taking a massive toll on her body. She knew her small breakfast from earlier wasn't going to keep her satisfied so she begrudgingly got out of bed and made her way slowly downstairs. As soon as her foot hit the bottom step she froze. A powerful force was compelling her, but she had no idea why or where it was coming from. Her heart rate spiked and it was as though she could hear an electric buzzing sound ringing in her ear. A warmth began to spread throughout her chest. All of a sudden, she was making her way towards the dining room, her feet having a mind of their own. The electric sound intensified the closer she got and once she stepped into the room her eyes widened. "What the hell?" Klaus sat at one end of the dining room table while a woman sat at the opposite end. Delicious food was set out before them and it appeared as though they were having a good time. Audrey examined the woman more and recognized her as Hayley Marshall, Tyler's friend who also gave Katherine information about the cure which lead to Jeremy's death.

"Audrey-," Klaus began but she cut him off.

"Why is she here and what the hell is going on?!" She asked again, this time more harshly. "You have a lot of nerve coming here after what you did. My brother is dead because of you! I should kill you right now!" Hayley stood from her chair and flashed her gold eyes at Audrey in a challenging way.

"Enough! I brought her here. She has information on Katherine that we need," Klaus explained as he stepped in front of Audrey. Audrey looked at him with hurt and betrayal prevalent in her expression, she felt her insides grow hot as her anger began to bubble. She closed her eyes and Klaus thought it was so she could compose herself. When he reached out to touch her comfortingly, her eyes snapped open but they held a dark aura. With impossible strength she pushed Klaus out of the way and went directly for Hayley's throat. As soon as her hand made contact with it, an explosive eruption of electricity emitted between the both of them. A loud crack sounded through the air as they were thrown off each other landing at complete opposite ends of the room. Klaus sped to his soulmate, immediately checking to see if she was hurt. She gasped from pain as she tore her locket off her neck. Klaus looked down to see a burn mark was left on her from the necklace. He picked up the locket to see it was smoking and incredibly hot, a large crack now ran down the center of it. Hayley sat up and coughed loudly, gasping from the pain of being knocked down.

"This is definitely not how I envisioned my day going," Hayley groaned to herself.

"Audrey, how long have you had this necklace?" Klaus questioned suddenly, drawing both girls attention to him.

"For as long as I can remember. My dad brought it back for me from a business trip when I was like 5, why?" Audrey answered with confusion. It was as though a lightbulb went off in Klaus's head. He sped towards Hayley appearing behind her in a blink of an eye. Once his eyes caught sight of the crescent birthmark on her right shoulder he finally connected the puzzle pieces. He sped back to his soulmate and helped her off the ground, looking deep into her eyes once she was on her feet

"You two are descendants from the same wolf pack. A very powerful one out of Louisiana," Klaus said casually. Audrey stared at him blankly for a moment before bursting out into laughter.

"M-Me? A werewolf?" Audrey laughed hysterically, while Klaus cocked an eyebrow at her. Hayley, who had been sitting quietly, stood up and stared at the couple.

"What else do you know about this wolf pack?" Hayley asked ignoring the human who was hunched over in tears from laughing so hard.

"I'll answer that question as soon as you tell me everything you know about Katerina," Klaus replied smugly. The doorbell going off distracted everyone, but Klaus reacted quickly, speeding to the entry way. He pulled open the door to reveal the annoying Salvatore brother. Damon sauntered his way into the mansion as soon as the door was opened for him. "Ah, what an unpleasant surprise," Klaus greeted as he shut the door behind the vampire.

"So I just came up with a list," Damon said looking at the piece of paper in his hands. "It's called 'Things You Suck At'. Number one, finding Katherine. Ever. Number two, covering up your secret phone conversations with that little backstabber Hayley." Damon said waving the piece of paper at the hybrid before throwing it down on an end table. "Yeah, so, where is she? What does she know about Katherine?"

"I should help you?" Klaus questioned with slight disgust.

"Mhmm," Damon agreed, plastering a fake happy smile on his face.
