《Sinful |Klaus Mikaelson||》Salvation

Caroline Forbes anxiously paced between rooms in the Gilbert house, while Elena talked on the phone to her. Klaus had been watching her and listening to her conversation from the couch. Audrey was still asleep, her head laid in Klaus's lap peacefully. "Tell me you're not serious," Caroline said into the phone.

"I wish I weren't," Elena sighed. "When we got back from looking for Jeremy, Shane and Bonnie were gone too. Shane needs Bonnie to cast a spell on Jeremy's tattoo in order to find the cure, and he managed to sneak them both from under our noses,"

"Well, where's Damon in all this?" Caroline questioned snarkily.

"We had an argument. I thought he was just taking a walk, but then when we went to the beach, we saw signs of a struggle," Elena explained.

"Meaning what?" Caroline asked obliviously, her eyes meeting Klaus's.

"Meaning someone probably jumped him and then grabbed him!" Elena exclaimed with worry.

"Do you think Shane took him?" Caroline wondered.

"No, I mean, he's not strong enough to take Damon on, even with the element of surprise. He must have someone, or at least a few someones helping him," Elena sighed into the phone. Caroline could tell she was a mess.

"I'm so sorry. I wish I was there to help," Caroline said softly.

"Well, maybe there's something you can do from home," Elena said.

"Anything, tell me!" Caroline perked up immediately.

"So, Shane's looking for the cure. We think we can find him. We have pictures of Jeremy's tattoo, but we just can't translate the map," Elena trailed off hoping Caroline would understand.

"Unless you get the Hunter's Sword from Klaus," Caroline finished for her.

"Exactly," Elena sighed. "Audrey's the only one who can get it from him,"

"You're right. As soon as she wakes up I'll tell her," Caroline said. "Just send me the pictures and we'll get the sword,"

"Okay, thank you," Elena smiled before hanging up. Caroline turned to face Klaus and narrowed her eyes at him.

"Need my help with anything?" Klaus smirked.

"I know you overheard my conversation. Are you going to help us or do I need to tear your house apart to look for the sword?" Caroline sassed, crossing her arms over her chest defensively.

"While I do love Audrey, I absolutely loath her siblings," Klaus tsk'd, causing Caroline to huff dramatically.

"Are you serious right now?" Caroline challenged with sass.

"They shouldn't have killed my brother for their own personal gain," Klaus growled. Caroline rolled her eyes and groaned before stomping towards the door. "I'll give you a hint though. It's nowhere on the first floor," Klaus called out as Caroline walked out. As soon as the door closed, Audrey woke up. Her eyes fluttered open but as soon as everything came into vision, she shot up. She looked at Klaus, her eyes widening with panic.

"Klaus? Has anyone called yet? Have they found Jeremy and Bonnie?!" She asked worriedly. Klaus chuckled at her and nodded.

"Elena called a few minutes ago to talk to Caroline. She said they still haven't found them and now Damon is missing too," Klaus explained. Audrey's heart dropped to her stomach and hot tears welled up in her eyes. Within seconds she was a sobbing mess, she quickly covered her face with her hands as Klaus wrapped his arms around her. "Shh love, they're going to be fine," Klaus said soothingly, but it was no use. The flood gates were open.

"B-B-But wha-what if they're n-not!" She exclaimed through sobs. "I-I can't lose any-anyone else, Klaus!" Her body racked every time she let out another sob, shaking Klaus as well. He grabbed her shoulders and moved her away from him so he could look her in the eyes. He removed her hands from covering her face and cupped her cheeks.

"Audrey, look at me," He instructed. She was still crying but she opened her eyes to look at him. "Take a deep breath," she was still gasping but she did as told and took a deep breath in. "Okay, now exhale and do it again," She did it again and slowly started to calm down. He made her continue until she stopped crying, and once she was done he used his shirt to wipe her eyes and cheeks. "Caroline is going to fetch the hunter's sword so she can help Elena and the others locate the cave where the cure is at. Shane, Bonnie, and Jeremy are surely there and once everyone finds them, they'll get them back and take the cure and leave," He leaned forward capturing her lips in a loving kiss.

"Wow, you actually told Caroline where the sword was? I figured you would just make her look for it on her own," Audrey said with a playful smile.

"Oh I am. I did give her a hint at least," Klaus replied causing Audrey to roll her eyes. She leaned back into the couch and sighed with discomfort as a wave of nausea hit her.

"Jesus," She groaned clutching her stomach.

"Are you all right?" Klaus asked her. She shook her head and immediately darted for the bathroom. The moment she was inside she crouched down and vomited into the toilet. Klaus ran to the end of the barrier worriedly. "Audrey!?"

"Holy shit," She groaned before puking again. When she was finally done she cleaned herself up and walked out of the bathroom tiredly. "I really don't feel good," the moment she reached Klaus she practically collapsed in his arms.

He lifted her up and carried her to the couch. He sat with her in his lap and brought a hand up to her head to feel if she was hot. Once he pulled his hand away Audrey nuzzled her face into his chest and breathed in his scent. The nausea she felt slowly began to ease the more she breathed him in, she giggled at the thought. "What has you giggling after nearly puking your guts out?" Klaus teased.

"Breathing you in made me feel better. How strange is that?" She giggled again. "If that's the case I'll just be glued to you, constantly inhaling your scent," He laughed this time with her and pulled her closer.

"As if I'd mind," Klaus chuckled resting his head on top of hers. Anytime he had her in his arms like this he felt complete relaxation, something he never truly experienced until he met her. Always being on the run and searching for power never allowed him to ever sit back and feel at ease. Their quiet moment was ruined by the loud growl of Audrey's stomach. She burst out into laughter and sat up to face Klaus.

"I definitely need to eat something. I might have a blood bag somewhere that Damon left for Elena, want me to look for it?" She asked sweetly. He smiled and nodded.

"Yeah, if you don't mind," She shook her head and jumped up from the couch. Within five minutes she was walking back into the room with a blood bag and a plate of pizza rolls. "You eat those ghastly things?" Klaus questioned Audrey as she threw him the bag.

"You're judging me as if you're not about to chug that bag of blood like some freshman at a frat party," Audrey scoffed popping a pizza roll into her mouth. Klaus smirked but stopped himself from saying anything and instead ripped open the bag to drink it. The moment blood hit his tongue he felt his strength restore fully. She was right, he chugged the bag of blood as if it were an ice cold beer. "So does blood still taste like metal as a vampire or does it taste like you're eating a pizza or something?" Audrey questioned as she raised an eyebrow curiously at her soulmate. He chuckled and shook his head.

"It still has a metallic taste but it's sweeter, almost like an addictive nectar," He explained. "Although when I became a hybrid the taste altered slightly, your blood on the other hand is the most delectable, sweetest blood I've come across. It's euphoric and almost seems to get me high." She smirked at him.

"That should creep me out but honestly it kind of turns me on," She flirted with a wink. He was about to make a crude reply until the front door flew open and Caroline Forbes strutted in with a laptop in her hand. Tyler Lockwood trailed behind closely with the hunter's sword wrapped up in a blanket.

"Well, if it isn't little orphan Lockwood. Come to show how laughably impotent you are against me?" Klaus taunted causing Audrey to shoot him a glare.

"I'm just trying to help my friends find the cure," Tyler replied following Caroline into the dining room. She pulled out a chair at the table and sat down, as soon as she did Tyler pulled the blanket off the sword revealing it to everyone. "Found this in your attic," He stated smugly to Klaus.

"Well I did give Caroline a hint now, didn't I?" Klaus teased. "You think just because you found the sword it will bring you closer to the cure?"

"You tell me, I was playing around with the handle on the ride over, and I found this," Tyler unwrapped the leather on top of the sword unveiling some sort of turning device. Klaus stood up from the couch and made his way towards Tyler.

"And what do you think this is?" Klaus questioned.

"It's a cryptex," Caroline blurted out as she stood up. Everyone looked at her curiously. "I've seen the da Vinci Code. You turn the different sides to the different symbols to get the translation on the other side. And with the magic of the internet, Elena sent over these," She picked up the pictures of Jeremy's tattoo to show Klaus. "So now all we have to do is cryptex away," Caroline walked back over to the table and sat down again. "If you happened to want to help, we wouldn't stop you," Audrey smiled at her friend and walked over to her.

"Right. Well, might I suggest using the magic of the internet to purchase an Aramaic-to-English dictionary from your nearest retailer," Klaus suggested with his classic smirk.

"What's Aramaic?" Audrey asked.

"It's a dead language. It hasn't been used since, like, biblical times," Caroline scoffed dramatically.

"Qetsiyah's native tongue, I'm guessing. You know, even if you had the best dictionary in the world it could take days to translate," Klaus tsk'd as he sat back down on the couch. "Perhaps weeks. In bas so-teen-too ara-ma-eet,"

"What does that mean?" Caroline asked growing more frustrated with him by the second.

"If only you spoke Aramaic," Klaus grinned, kicking his feet up on the couch. Caroline looked at Audrey now expecting her to say something to him.

"Look, my siblings straight up murdered his brother in cold blood. I am not expecting him to help us unless he truly wants to," Audrey explained shocking everyone. "I hope you find it in your heart to help us though," She mustered the best puppy dog eyes she could, as he rolled his with boredom. "Okay, come on we can do this ourselves. We are strong, smart, beautiful women,"

"You know I'm still here, right?" Tyler asked.

"Yeah, and?" Audrey answered snarkily. It took them two hours but once they were done Caroline sighed with relief.

"Okay, this is it. We've translated all the symbols on the tattoo. "Passage inside...requires a young senator, and a pretty flower.'," Caroline read aloud.

"Okay this doesn't even make any sense!" Audrey growled with anger. Suddenly Klaus begins to speak Aramaic again and all eyes turned to him.

"Requires a powerful witch and a hunter in full bloom," He translated.

"What are you doing?" Tyler asked with disbelief.

"I don't need to tell you my reasons. Audrey, bring my sword over here, please," Klaus requested, Audrey smiled widely at him and brought the sword over to him. "Silas rests on the far side, the means of his destruction at hand," He translated. He glanced over at the pictures of Jeremy's tattoo and looked at Audrey. "Turn the cryptex to the right," She obliged. "Stop. The top of the hilt reveals a key to a nautical map. Turn it to the left," She did as told again. "Now turn the other piece," She does, sounding off a clicking noise. "There's something else," Klaus examined the sword carefully before a menacing smirk appeared across his lips. He spoke in Aramaic again, but this time he didn't translate.

"What does it mean?" Caroline asked. "Klaus, what does it mean?" She asked again when he refused to answer.

"Call Rebekah," Klaus said to Audrey instead. She nodded and grabbed out her phone to quickly call her.

"Hello, Audrey," Rebekah greeted in a surprisingly cheery voice.

"Hey, we have the translation of the tattoo. We're emailing you pictures of the map and instructions right now," Audrey explained, putting the phone on speaker mode.

"Got it. Thanks!" Rebekah said gratefully.

"Actually, it was me," Klaus chimed in.

"Nik, you helped?" Rebekah asked with utter shock.

"You sound so surprised, little sister," Klaus fake pouted as he began to pace the room.

"Shouldn't I be? I mean, you don't want me to be human. You don't want any of us to be human. Why would you help us find the cure?" Rebekah questioned with attitude. "Does Audrey really have you that whipped?" Audrey, Caroline, and Tyler laughed at the statement.

"Maybe I finally realized the longer I stand in the way of what you want, the longer you'll continue to hate me. Perhaps I want my sister to finally know happiness," Klaus answered trying to sound sincere as possible, but Audrey could tell something was up.

"Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me a hundred times-," Rebekah started but Klaus cut her off.

"No more fooling. No more games. I hope you get to live and die as you wish," Klaus said truthfully. Audrey was surprised by his confession and smiled softly at him.

"So do I," Rebekah agreed.

"There is one more thing," Klaus added, his eyes darting to his soulmate. "There is only one dose of the cure. You need to find it first and take it. It's the only way you'll-" She hung up her phone before he could finish.

"Are you kidding me?! She's going to kill them all now!" Audrey shouted angrily. "Rebekah is going to do whatever she can to get the cure,"

"Rebekah also has a soft heart, she won't kill them unless absolutely necessary," Klaus assured her. She rolled her eyes at him and groaned with frustration. Tyler shook his head with disappointment and began to grab his things before storming out of the house loudly. Caroline followed him quickly to make sure he was okay. Audrey watched them go but stayed inside with her soulmate.

"Do you really think Rebekah isn't gonna kill anyone? Even Elena?" Audrey questioned him.

"I've seen the way she's been around Stefan lately. She's starting to fall for him again which means that, although she may loath Elena with everything inside her, she respects Stefan enough to not actually kill her," Klaus answered truthfully. "I know my sister better than anyone else, love. I promise you." He reached out and caressed her cheek lightly. She grabbed his hand and held it against her.

"Thank you," She sighed softly. He smiled and leaned forward to capture her lips in a sweet kiss. They pulled away from each other right as Caroline stormed back into the house.

"You can't kill Tyler," She said weakly, unlike the usual strong willed person she is.

"Not only can I, I have to. I have a reputation to uphold. Moreover, I want to," Klaus replied smugly.

"I'm not asking you to forgive him. All I'm asking is that you let him live, somewhere far from here," Caroline pleaded helplessly.

"So he gets to live a happy life after he turned all my hybrids against me, after he tried to kill me, after he made it his life's mission to find the cure so he could use it against me-," Klaus rambled but Caroline cut him off.

"We all want to cure," Caroline defended.

"Do we?" Audrey scoffed.

"Do you?" Klaus asked her.

"It doesn't matter. There's only one, so it's not like I'm gonna get it anyway," Caroline sighed with defeat.

"You wouldn't take it even if their was more. I know you Caroline, you love being strong, ageless, fearless," Audrey said catching the blondes attention.

"You know how much I love Tyler, Aud. You know how scared I am to lose him," Caroline turned to Klaus now. "Please show me your compassion. Show him mercy that I'd show you," She begged.

"Mercy? For Tyler? Very well. Tell him to leave town immediately. And tell him to run and hide in a place I will never find him," Klaus answered sternly.

"Of course," Caroline sighed with relief, a smile over taking her face.

"Tell him this is the mercy I extend for your sake...that I will give him a head start before I kill him," Caroline nodded before quickly leaving the house to tell Tyler. Audrey smiled at her soulmate once her best friend left. "What?" He asked her.

"Thank you, I know how difficult that was for you," Audrey said as she walked into his arms.

"Things would be much different if I weren't trapped in this room," Klaus mumbled into her hair before kissing the top of her head. Audrey pulled away and looked up at him.

"I wish we were at your house, laying in your massive comfy bed. Those Egyptian cotton sheets are calling my name," She whined causing him to laugh.

"You look especially beautiful when you're wrapped in them," He flirted while leaning down to kiss her cheek and lips. He stopped suddenly when he felt something lift off him, almost like an invisible veil.

"What's wrong?" Audrey asked. Klaus said nothing and instead moved away, towards the edge of the barrier. He reached his hand out and when he felt nothing he stepped through. "How did you-?"

"I think something terrible might've happened to your friend, Bonnie," Klaus answered. Audrey widened her eyes and immediately felt her heart drop.

"Oh my god," She gasped. She pulled out her phone and quickly called Damon. When he wouldn't answer, she tried Stefan, then Rebekah, then Jeremy, yet no one answered. Most of their phones went straight to voicemail. "This can't be happening." Her breathing began to get heavier and she felt weak.

"Audrey-," Klaus started to say.

"No you don't understand, I knew this would happen. I knew this was a terrible idea. I knew it and I still let them do it," Tears welled in Audrey's eyes and she felt her lower lip quiver.

"I'm sorry I shouldn't have been so harsh when I said that. I'm sure they're all fine, so try not to get so worked up before knowing anything," Klaus comforted, gently grabbing her face to make her look at him. "Relax, my love."

"You're right, we don't know anything for sure yet," Audrey said while wiping away her tears. Klaus pulled her to him and held her closely. "Klaus I'm just terrified. I have been this entire time," Klaus didn't know what to say to ease her nerves.
