"Did you eat my last poptart, asshole?!" Audrey shouted at Damon, throwing the empty box at him. "You don't even need actual food!"

"I enjoy the taste," Damon argued. Audrey rolled her eyes and scoffed. "Calm down princess, I'll buy you more," She huffed and sat down on the couch.

"You know the s'mores ones are my favorite!" She mumbled with annoyance.

"Would you two stop acting like children?" Stefan questioned with a sarcastic smile. Damon and Audrey rolled their eyes at him at the same time.

"Where did Jeremy go?" Damon suddenly asked when he realized the youngest Gilbert was nowhere to be found.

"School. Bonnie has him volunteering for some occult exhibit," Audrey answered.

"Or maybe he didn't want to linger in a house where his sister just jammed a knife in his neck," Damon replied.

"Damon! That's not funny!" Audrey said hitting him in the arm. Damon just smirked at her and shrugged. Stefan was about to chime in but his phone began to ring. He pulled it out and looked at the caller I.D.

"It's Klaus," Stefan sighed. Audrey's attention immediately snapped to Stefan. Why was Klaus calling him?

"Oooh, time to face the music. Pay the piper, dance with the devil," Damon teased.

"You know, I'm glad you find this amusing. If he finds out I told you about the cure, he'll kill both of us," Stefan scoffed.

"Wait. Klaus told you about the cure?" Audrey asked Stefan.

"Yeah," Stefan said glancing at Damon. "Did he not tell you?"

"No! I mean he told me about the cure but not that you knew or that he was working with you!" Audrey exclaimed. The phone continued to ring.

"Quit avoiding him, that means shady. Shady people get outed," Damon pointed out.

Stefan rolled his eyes but finally answered his phone. "I don't want to talk about it," he immediately said. Damon listened closely while Audrey sat quietly.

"Well I can't imagine why, what with you ruining my plans for a hybrid filled future," Klaus answered.

"Well, it wouldn't have happened, if you hadn't sworn me to secrecy," Stefan said looking at Damon who nodded.

"Well, life's full of ifs, Stefan. But let's accentuate the positives, shall we? The hunter was one of five, we'll find another. It may take centuries, but we've got nothing but time, right?" Klaus said calmly.

"You're using your calm voice today. Who's getting killed?" Stefan asked.

"Not you, if that's what your worried about. But I am concerned about your beloved. Have the hallucinations started yet?" Klaus asked with a smirk.

"What do you know about that?" Stefan asked.

"I'll tell you. Where are you?" Klaus replied.

"I'm at her house," Stefan answered.

"How convenient, so am I," Klaus said right as there was a knock at the door. Stefan hung up the phone and made his way out the front door. Audrey looked at Damon who looked back at her.

"Little bird, don't you dare," Damon warned. Audrey sighed and leaned back into the couch. She knew she could never outrun Damon. Damon leaned back with her and slung an arm around her shoulders.

"I think I'm going to go insane, Damon," Audrey groaned as she leaned her head against his shoulder.

"You and me both," Damon chuckled, resting his head on top of hers.

"Can we just run away together and live in a bubble?" Audrey suggested.

"Honestly, I would love that," Damon smiled. "I wouldn't mind being anywhere as long as I'm with you,"

"Awe! You're such a sweetheart, Damon Salvatore," Audrey giggled pulling away to look at him.

"Only to you," He smirked.

"Well don't I feel special," She said shaking her head with a smile. Elena walking down the stairs drew their attention. Damon immediately stood up once he saw her and made his way over to her. Audrey saw this and decided it was the perfect moment to jump up and race out the door. Once Klaus saw her he smiled only she didn't return it. She opened her mouth ready to say something but Elena rushing through the outside door stopped her. Before anyone could think Klaus sped forward and grabbed both girls before speeding them away. When they stopped, Audrey realized they were at his mansion. Klaus set Audrey down but pulled Elena through the mansion. Audrey followed behind closely. "Klaus, what are you doing?"

"Don't worry, love. I'm doing this to help her," Klaus said as he pulled Elena into a room.

"Let go of me!" Elena sneered.

"Gladly," Klaus replied letting go of Elena. "I apologize for the lack of windows, it's to preserve the art. And of course to prevent you from taking off your daylight ring and burning yourself to death in the sun,"

"I'm not going to kill myself. I would never do that," Elena scoffed.

"Oh, but you'll want to. I did. Problem is, I'm immortal," Klaus smirked causing Audrey to stare at him in shock.

"You went through this?" Elena questioned curiously.

"Yes, I did. For fifty-two years, four months, and nine days. I was tormented, in my dreams, my every waking moment, relentless, never-ending torture. It was the only period of my life when I actually felt time," Klaus explained.

"So, you knew that this would happen if Connor died? That's why you got involved. Did Stefan know too?" Elena asked crossing her arms over her chest. Audrey frowned at her sister.

"All he knew was that the hunter had to be kept alive. You should have listened to him when he said he had it covered, love," Klaus frowned rolling his eyes at the doppelgänger.

"What else does Stefan know?" Elena asked again.

"Well, that's one of life's little mysteries, isn't it?" Klaus smiled sarcastically. He looked at his soulmate and grabbed her hand into his, entwining their fingers. He was about to pull her out of the room when Elena stopped them.

"How did you make it stop?" Klaus stopped and glanced back at her.

"I didn't. Eventually it just stopped. The hallucinations tend to appear in strange forms," Klaus said knocking on the door. His hybrid on the other side opened it. "Don't say I didn't warn you," Klaus's hybrid shut the door behind him and Klaus pulled Audrey away.

"Wait, we need to talk," Audrey said stopping in her track pulling Klaus to a halt too.

"About what exactly, love?" Klaus hummed with a smile.

"Why are you still keeping things from me?" Audrey asked. Klaus's expression dropped immediately. "Yeah. You forgot to mention that you've been working with Stefan oh and that Jeremy got kidnapped and almost died!"

"Look I can explain alright-,"

"No! I don't want you to feed me some crap story and leave out things. I want the truth Niklaus," Audrey shouted cutting him off. "I'm so tired of all the lies lately. I mean we are soulmates, Klaus! We told each other we love each other but in all honesty we don't even know each other! I know the basics about you, what everybody else pieced together but I still feel like I don't actually know anything about you. You're so used to shutting people out and not trusting anyone, but it's me, Klaus. I'm probably the only person you can trust, because believe me, if I haven't ran yet, I'm not ever going to," Klaus looked down, not able to meet her eyes. "All I want is for you to let me in. Okay, just tell me everything there is to know about you," He finally looked up at her. "I wanna know your darkest secrets, your fantasies, what your favorite color is, everything. And I know this is hard for you but please just-," This time he cut her off, but by stepping forward to bring her lips to his. Audrey kissed him back, tangling her fingers in his hair to pull him closer. When they pulled away Klaus was looking at her with a soft expression.

"Alright, love. We can talk," He chuckled. She smiled widely and went to kiss him again but he stopped her. "If you want this to happen, I suggest we do it now because if I kiss you again I'm bringing you up to my room and not letting you out until every one of your needs in completely satisfied,"

"You're right," Audrey smiled, a slight blush tinged her cheeks.

"How about we go get dinner?" Klaus suggested with a small smile.

"Alright deal! I am a little hungry anyways," Audrey said looking at him softly. Klaus smiled and leaned down to kiss her forehead gently. Before Audrey knew it they were outside the Grill. "I'll never get used to that,"

"It is rather fun to do and it tends to be very useful," Klaus agreed, taking her hand into his and pulling her into the Grill. They sat at a table far away from people and ordered food. "So, what did you want to know about me?" Audrey cocked an eyebrow at him.

"You really want to talk about this here with all these people around?" She asked curiously.

"Well, I won't be sharing my darkest secrets here but we can start with the basics," Klaus smiled.

"Alright. What is your favorite color?" Audrey asked.

"You know when the sun sets on a clear day and all those layers of colors follow it?" Klaus asked her. Audrey nodded. "Right when the sun is almost out of sight, there's this soft but vibrant color of orange and for as long as I remember that has been my favorite color," Audrey absorbed each of his words knowing exactly what he was talking about. She could picture it in her head vividly.

"I know exactly what you mean," Audrey sighed happily. "Sunsets and sunrises are my favorites, all of the colors that paint the sky is breathtaking,"

"Exactly how I feel about them," Klaus agreed. "Honestly, sunsets are the reason I started painting. I wanted to capture the beauty of them as closely as possible," Audrey was shocked. She never realized how deep Klaus was until now.

"Wow," She gasped breathlessly.

"Surprised?" He smirked knowingly. Audrey smirked back and shrugged casually taking a sip of her drink. Klaus watched her longingly, memorizing every inch of her perfect face.

"Audrey!" Caroline suddenly cheered, appearing out of nowhere. Audrey jumped, startled by her friend.

"Hey Care," She smiled. Caroline took that as an invitation to join the couple, because she slipped into the booth beside her friend.

"Sorry for intruding I just feel like I haven't talked to you in forever, Aud," Caroline smiled innocently.

"We talked yesterday, Care," Audrey stated with a blank face.

"I know but texting doesn't count as actual talking!" Caroline argued rolling her eyes. "We need to have girl talk! Besides, since Klaus is here it's the perfect opportunity to get to know him better. I mean did you honestly expect this to never happen? You're my best friend and he's the man you're going to spend the rest of your life with. I deserve to know everything there is to know about him," Audrey and Klaus shared a look.

"I didn't realize you had such a change of heart," Audrey mumbled.

"It's not like I completely hated Klaus. I just didn't like the fact that he turned my boyfriend into a mindless sired hybrid," Caroline scoffed. "But let bygones be bygones, right?"

"Right," Klaus smiled sarcastically.

"Caroline, not that I don't love your company, it's just Klaus and I were in the middle of something," Audrey reasoned.

"He gets all of your time, Aud. Your best friend needs attention too ya know," Caroline huffed, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Now you're just being dramatic," Audrey sighed rolling her eyes. Klaus chuckled and looked at Caroline.

"I'm sorry for stealing her away all the time," Klaus apologized, but the smile on his face told Audrey that he wasn't sorry at all. He grabbed her hand from across the table and held eye contact with her. "I just can't help myself. She's the most magnificent woman I have ever met and that's saying something considering I've been alive for a thousand years," With that being said he kissed her hand and looked at her lovingly. Caroline looked between the two of them and it was almost as if she could see their love for each other. She smiled, she was happy her friend had found love even if it was with the enemy.

"Wow," Caroline sighed in a daze. "Now I see why Audrey likes you so much,"

"I believe that's the nicest thing you've ever said to me," Klaus chuckled squeezing Audrey's hand before letting it go. Caroline was about to reply when her phone going off stopped her. She glanced down to see Stefan had messaged her. I lost Elena. I need a vampire to kill, I'll turn someone if I have to. Get answers fast.

"So here's the thing, I didn't actually come here to have lunch with you two," Caroline sighed.

"You don't say," Klaus said, faking shock.

"Caroline, I've known you our whole lives. You've always been a terrible actor," Audrey chimed in.

"Have not! I fooled Katherine that one time-okay you know what that's not the point. The point is I was sent here to distract you two while Stefan broke Elena out of your house," Caroline began.

"What?!" Klaus and Audrey shouted together.

"That's not the only thing. Stefan lost her," Caroline said with guilt. Klaus was up in a second. Caroline and Audrey quickly followed him. "Klaus!"

"Caroline, you're Audrey's best friend, but if you don't stop talking, I will kill you," Klaus growled before turning around to walk away.

"They figured out a way to stop the hallucinations," Caroline blurted out, stopping Klaus in his tracks. He turned around and glared at the blonde vampire.

"You have 10 seconds, start talking,"

Once Caroline had told Klaus and Audrey about Jeremy being the next hunter of the Brotherhood of the Five, Audrey's heart felt like it was stopping. "No," She said as Caroline was explaining.

"What do you mean no?" She asked her friend.

"No. I'm not letting Jeremy do this! You saw how Connor was, I don't want that to happen to my little brother!" Audrey argued, grabbing her things and heading for the door.

"Audrey, it's the only way to save Elena! Stefan said she's in bad shape and that she's unpredictable," Caroline replied.

"She's right, love. You don't know the struggle of the hunter's curse. If it can drive someone like me to want to end my life, what do you suppose it will do to Elena?" Klaus added in. Audrey sighed and looked down.

"So what are we going to do?" Audrey asked him.

"I have a feeling that Tyler has been stirring up trouble, has he not?" Klaus questioned Caroline who avoided his gaze.

"Klaus, you can't kill him-,"

"I know that, love. It's not him we're going to have young Jeremy kill," He assured his soulmate. "It's the hybrid he managed to unsire from me that will pay the price,"

-

Audrey, Klaus, Jeremy, and Stefan all arrived at the Lockwood mansion together. Audrey held her brother's hand as they approached the front steps. Klaus stepped inside first, leaving the trio outside.

"I'll be fine, Aud. I promise," Jeremy smiled, trying to ease his sister's worries. "Besides, you and Elena have always looked after me. If this will help her I have to do it,"

"I know, I just..," She trailed off looking up at him. "I'll always see you as my innocent baby brother. Last time you did something like this it was understandable because Ric's life was in jeopardy but now it's different. I don't know I just have a really weird feeling about this,"

"Audrey, you've been worrying to much lately," Jeremy chuckled.

"It's my job to worry about you!" Audrey argued, crossing her arms over her chest and huffing. Stefan must've heard his signal because he walked into Lockwood mansion without speaking to the two siblings and stabbed the hybrid they were baiting with a stake. Audrey heard Tyler and that Hayley girl cry out in shock. Jeremy stepped into the house now, with Audrey behind him. He held the meat cleaver in his hands but didn't do anything with it yet.

"Jeremy?" Tyler asked with confusion. "What the hell man?!" He yelled at Stefan now.

"I'm sorry," Stefan apologized before turning to look at Jeremy. Jeremy nodded and brought the cleaver down on the hybrid's neck, chopping his head completely off. Audrey gasped with shock and turned away.

"No!" Hayley cried out falling onto her knees in sorrow. Jeremy looked down at his hand to see the tattoo growing. Arms wrapped around Audrey's shoulders and she looked up to see Klaus holding her. She buried her head into his chest and breathed in his scent to calm herself down.

"Come on, darling. Let's get you home," Klaus cooed soothingly. She nodded and closed her eyes, when she opened them again they were standing in his foyer. "Are you alright?"

"I don't know," She answered honestly. "I just- I have a feeling that something really bad is going to happen,"

"Audrey look at me," Klaus said quietly. Audrey looked up and met his eyes with hers. "Nothing will happen to you. For as long as I am alive I will protect you from everything. I love you, sweetheart,"

"I love you too," She sighed happily, leaning up to kiss him passionately. She wanted to believe him, but that feeling was still there. She didn't know what was going to happen but she knew that it wasn't going to be good. If only she knew.
