Audrey sat on a stone bench watching as Klaus directed his compelled workers to dig. She glared daggers at his back, and hoped that he slipped and fell into the hole he was digging. "I know you're pissed love, but glaring at me won't do anything," Klaus chuckled without turning to look at her.
"I can't believe the shit you drag me into," Audrey grumbled. She should be exploring Italy and all it's beauties, not at some graveyard digging up a dead body.
"Oh come on! We could make a game out of this," Klaus laughed finally turning around. He had his usual cocky grin plastered on his face and Audrey wanted to punch it right off.
"I want to be exploring right now and instead we're wasting time at a graveyard," Audrey sighed.
"Oh trust me love, we aren't wasting time here," Klaus said. "The key to it all is here,"
"The key to what?" Audrey asked, standing up. "What are you looking for?"
"A sword," Klaus answered.
"A sword? Really? You came all the way here for a sword?" Audrey threw her hands up in the air dramatically.
"Not just any sword love," Klaus laughed walking over to her. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her closer to him. "This sword could lead us to the cure for immortality,"
"Oh my god," Audrey gasped with shock. "H-How's that possible?!"
"There's a whole legend behind it but who cares about all of that," Klaus sighed leaning down to kiss her nose.
"So you want to find the cure because...?" Audrey trailed off waiting for him to answer. "Wait! Do you actually want to become a human?!" Klaus burst into laughter as if she told him a funny joke. "I'm taking that as a no,"
"I'd die before I ever became human again. Trust me love, one day after you're turned you'll see how incredible it is to have power like never before," Klaus said happily. Audrey faked a smile and nodded. She knows that part of being soulmates with Klaus meant she'd have to become a vampire, but that didn't mean she was excited about it, actually it terrified her.
"Well why do you want the cure then?" Audrey questioned.
"Several reasons actually, one being to destroy it," Klaus smiled devilishly.
___
"Wow," Audrey sighed with amazement. She leaned against their hotel room balcony railing with a glass of wine in her hand, watching the sunset on the ocean. She was still wearing the expensive silk gown Klaus had bought her for dinner. She felt like she was in a movie. She took a sip from her glass and sighed again.
"What's on your mind, love?" Klaus asked as he snuck up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist. He placed a soft kiss to her neck.
"I'm just admiring the view," She hummed happily.
"So am I," He whispered into her ear. Goosebumps rose to the surface of her skin and she giggled as he tickled her with his breath. "And god is the view stunning,"
"Such a charmer," She moaned as he nipped at the sensitive part of her neck. Right before things heated up they were interrupted by Klaus's phone.
"If we get interrupted one more time, I might go crazy love,"
"You and me both, Casanova," Audrey grumbled as he detached himself from her. When Klaus saw it was Stefan calling he walked away from his soulmate.

"You better have a damn good reason why you're calling me right now," Klaus snapped as he answered his phone.
"The crazy vampire hunter took some hostages in the Grill, one of them being Jeremy Gilbert," Stefan answered.
"You expect me to care about bloody hostages?" Klaus questioned.
"Well, you should. Damon does. So does Caroline, Tyler, Elena, and even Audrey if she knew what was going on," Stefan said. "If any of them get to Connor, then you just wasted a trip to Italy. I can buy us some time, but Damon's getting antsy. So, If you want Connor alive, you better get your hybrids on board with my plan," Klaus gritted his teeth with frustration. The last thing he needed was Stefan Salvatore telling him what to do, but he knew he was right.
"Fine. I'll call them up," Klaus growled.
"Thanks. Oh by the way, tell Audrey about Jeremy. She deserves to know what's going on," Stefan said before Klaus hung up on him. He looked at Audrey who was still standing on the balcony and sighed. He didn't want to ruin their trip together. It was the first time in a long time that he'd seen her completely content and relaxed. She deserved a break from everything back in Mystic Falls and he wasn't going to ruin that, especially since he knew the Salvatore brothers would never let Jeremy be killed. He would tell her when the went back home. Klaus called his most trusted hybrid to tell him and the others to follow along with whatever Stefan had planned and then turned his phone off. No matter what emergency was going on he didn't care. Not when the woman he loved looked so damn beautiful in the light of the sunset. He smirked and walked over to her, he had plans for the rest of their night together all of which included no clothing.
__
When Audrey fluttered her eyes open she thought she was still dreaming. She turned her head to see Klaus still asleep and she couldn't help but smile. He looked so peaceful and she could see his youth shine through. She silently wondered how old he was when he was turned. Instead of staying in bed she quietly crept out of it and grabbed a silk robe from the bathroom. She tip toed to the balcony and stepped outside. The sun was low in the sky meaning it was only morning. She took a deep breath of the Neapolitan air and smiled. Audrey wanted this for the rest of her life. As much as she loved her home she wanted more. She wanted to see the world and all that it held and she knew Klaus could give that to her if he wanted to. If he didn't focus so much on becoming the most powerful person in the world, he could do so much more with his life. Audrey's eyes scanned all the colorful buildings, all the ripples in the ocean, all of the people awake and starting their day. She memorized all of it. She knew today would be the last time she'd see this place for a while and she wanted to remember it forever.
"Audrey?" Klaus mumbled half awake. Audrey turned around to see him stirring awake. He seemed panicked, frazzled almost. "Audrey?!"
"It's okay," Audrey cooed as she stepped back into the room. "I'm right here," Klaus looked her way and relaxed immediately. She walked over to his side of the bed and sat beside him. He pulled her down to him, embracing her tightly. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah, I just...," Klaus paused. He didn't know how to say what he felt. How could he express his worry for thinking she had left him without seeming pathetic. "I love you," Audrey smiled into his neck and hugged him tighter. It still felt surreal hearing those words come out of his mouth.
"If someone had told me a couple months ago that I'd be in this position now, I'd think they were absolutely insane," Audrey muttered. "Never had I imagined having any sort of relationship with you,"
"I never imagined being in this sort of relationship with anyone," Klaus admitted. Audrey sat up to meet his eyes. They locked gazes getting lost in each others eyes. "I never thought I was capable of loving anyone until I met you,"
"Klaus," She gasped breathlessly. Klaus smiled before he leaned forward and pressed his lips against hers softly. Audrey felt a warmth engulf her heart. She wanted to stay in this position with him for the rest of her life. She wanted a bubble to form around them and trap them inside forever. She pulled away to breathe and smiled. "Who would've thought that you would turn out to be a big softie,"
"Softie?" Klaus questioned as he raised an eyebrow at her. In a flash he had her on the bed with him on top of her. "Let me show you how I'm anything but soft, love," Audrey shot him a mischievous smile.
"Okay love, prove me wrong then," She winked before pulling him down to her, crashing her lips onto his.

"God, I already miss Naples," Audrey whined as her and Klaus stepped out of his car. The weather was bitter compared to the weather in Italy. Klaus chuckled and pulled her too him, kissing her forehead comfortingly.
"Don't worry darling, we'll go back someday," Klaus assured. Audrey nuzzled against him. They were standing outside the Gilbert household basking in the early morning sun. Suddenly the front door flew open.
"Audrey! I need you in here now!" Damon called out, giving Klaus a dirty look before turning around to go back inside.
"Like I said. I really miss Naples," She grumbled.
"Yeah, you and me both," Klaus rolled his eyes. Audrey detached herself from him and pouted.
"Thank you for taking me with you. I had the best time," Audrey smiled. "I love you, prince charming,"
"I love you," Klaus said back softly. The moment Audrey entered her house she saw Jeremy lying on the couch and Damon and Elena arguing. Elena stopped when she saw her sister.
"You. Where have you been?" Elena questioned sternly.
"Uh with Klaus," Audrey answered.
"Where?" Audrey met Damon's eyes and raised her eyebrows. He just shrugged and rolled his eyes.
"Italy. I told you I was going the other day, remember?" Audrey answered. "What's going on. Why are you so frazzled?"
"Um...," She eyed Damon. "Look, that Connor guy took hostages in the Grill, one of them being Jeremy. We got all of them out but I ended up-um killing Connor," Elena was almost shaking. Audrey quickly walked over to her and embraced her.
"I'm so sorry Elena," Audrey cooed. "But it had to be done right?" Elena had tears in her eyes and she nodded her head.
"That's not all, Aud. I-I had a really weird dream last night. I saw him-I saw Connor and he was trying to kill me so I stabbed him but when I came to I realized that I had stabbed Jeremy. Luckily he was wearing the ring but Jeremy is the last person I ever wanted to hurt and I just- I don't-,"
"Shh," Audrey shushed. Elena sniffled and buried her face into her sister's chest. "So Connor took Jeremy hostage? When did this all go down?"
"Last night. Stefan said he called Klaus," Damon answered.
"Well looks like Klaus forgot to mention it," Audrey grumbled already thinking of the ways she was going to make her soulmate suffer. "I'm gonna kill him,"
"I'll help you," Damon smiled. Elena sniffled one last time before pulling away from her sister. She looked back at her brother on the couch and approached him.
"I can't believe this happened. What am I going to say to him?" Elena sighed.
"Thanks for not ditching the family ring after it drove Ric crazy?" Damon suggested. Elena shot a glare at him while Audrey smacked him. "You should've called Stefan,"
"I don't want to talk to him. He's been lying to me and hiding things from me. He compelled Jeremy to forget God knows what," Elena replied shaking her head with disappointment.
"Stefan compelled Jeremy to forget something? What an ass!" Audrey scoffed encouraging her sister.
"You're not helping," Damon shot at Audrey who rolled her eyes as a response. "In all fairness, I mean, I think you killing him kinda trumped that anyways. And you should have called Stefan,"
"I don't trust him right now, Damon," Elena argued again. Right as she said that Stefan entered the house. Elena looked at Damon.
"Hey," Stefan greeted.
"PS I called Stefan," Damon stated with an innocent smile. Stefan walked over to Elena.
"What happened? Why didn't you call me?" Stefan questioned worriedly.
"I just- I need to go upstairs and shower. Clean all the blood off my hands," Elena answered avoiding Stefan's question. She turned around and walked upstairs without saying another word. Jeremy gasping away dramatically diverted everyone's attention.
"Oh my god! Jer!" Audrey shouted running over to him. He was panting heavily still in a haze-like state. Audrey grabbed him embracing him tightly.
"Welcome back. How are you feeling?" Stefan asked the youngest Gilbert.
"What happened?" Jeremy asked confused.
"Long story buy the e-book," Damon replied sarcastically. Stefan ignored his brother and went after Elena upstairs. Jeremy pulled away from Audrey to look at her.
"I think Elena killed me," Jeremy mumbled.
"She did but it was an accident. She was sleep walking or something. She thought you were Connor," Audrey defended for Elena. "I'm so sorry Jer. You know she'd never mean to hurt you,"
"I know," Jeremy nodded still a little shaken up. Audrey noticed and sighed.
"You know what you and I need to do," Audrey stated to her brother.
"What?" Jeremy asked cocking an eyebrow.
"Go on one of our special drives," Audrey suggested with a smirk. Jeremy frowned with confusion before he realized what she meant.
"I totally agree," Jeremy smiled. Audrey nodded and stood from the couch helping Jeremy up in the process. They walked towards the front door together but Damon stopped them before they could leave.
"Where are you two going?" Damon asked crossing his arms over his chest.
"On a drive. I want to get Jer out of the house for a little bit," Audrey answered. Damon looked at her suspiciously. "Has anyone ever told you that you're kind of hot when you're being all macho man," Damon cracked and chuckled.
"Be safe," He said before moving out of the way for the siblings. Audrey shot him a wink before pulling Jeremy to her car. Once inside they took off.
"Thanks for this. I really needed it," Jeremy sighed with relief.
"I'll always have your back Jeremy," Audrey giggled. "That's what big sisters are for,"
"I love you Aud," Jeremy smiled.
"I love you more, Jer," Audrey smiled back. She reached over and grabbed his hand. "I can honestly say that I don't know what I would do without you!" Jeremy rolled his eyes with disbelief. "What? It's true! You're my baby brother and my best friend. I'd do anything for you, Jer,"
"Thanks, Audrey. And I want you to know that I'd do the same for you. You and Elena are all I have left," Jeremy said. Audrey squeezed his hand tightly.
"I promise that you'll never lose me, Jeremy," Audrey said. Jeremy smiled at her and nodded, squeezing her hand in return.
