"What?!" Audrey nearly screamed as she sat up in her bed. "What do you mean they changed the theme of the dance?!" Caroline flinched on the other end of the call.

"Well you see, yesterday, Rebekah took over and made the theme the 20's and no one really disagreed with her," Caroline explained cautiously.

"DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG I'VE WANTED A 70's DANCE?" Audrey was furious. She had waited for this dance for so long and now it was ruined.

"Dude, no one wanted to do the disco all night besides you," Caroline reasoned.

"Ugh, I hate everyone right now," Audrey groaned as she flopped back on her bed. "I would be getting down to some funk tonight, but no,"

"Nope. Instead you'll be doing the Charleston and swing dancing," Caroline teased. "So, is Klaus going to the dance tonight?"

"I have no idea," Audrey answered honestly. "We didn't really talk much last night,"

Caroline gasped loudly. "Oh my god! Audrey, are you still a virgin?" Audrey's cheeks immediately turned red and she facepalmed herself.

"Yes, Care. I'm still a virgin," Audrey muttered. "All we did was kiss and cuddle,"

"When do you think you'll let him tap that?" Audrey couldn't help but laugh at her friend's choice of words. "I mean, I may not like the guy but he is hot,"

"Oh my goodness!" Audrey blushed. "I-I don't know. I mean, whenever we kiss I feel...hot all over. I'm just scared about actually having sex. I don't know what to do!"

"Yeah, but he'll like that! Guys love when girls are virgins," Caroline giggled. "I think it's an ego thing,"

"Can we please talk about something else?" Audrey groaned. Caroline sighed exasperatedly but agreed. After talking on the phone for another hour, Audrey hung up the phone and called Klaus.

"Hello, love," Klaus answered with a wide smile.

"Are you going to the dance with me?" Audrey asked bluntly. She blushed at how abrupt she must've sounded. "I-I mean you don't have to if you don't want to. I-I-,"

"Of course I'll go with you, darling," Klaus chuckled. "Rebekah was pestering me about it anyways,"

"Okay," Audrey mumbled, still blushing. "Do you think Rebekah still has any dresses from the 20's?"

"Definitely. You can come over and pick one out if you want," Klaus suggested and Audrey could hear the smirk in his voice.

"Okay. I'll be over in 5," Once she hung up she headed for her car. Once she stepped into the mansion, Elijah greeted her with a smile. "Awe, it's my favorite Mikaelson,"

"I heard that," Klaus sneered as he sped into the room. Audrey smiled and stuck her tongue out at her soulmate. "You're a child,"

"And you're an old man," Audrey giggled. Klaus smiled back and walked over to greet his soulmate with a kiss. Elijah smiled at the couple and sighed. He was relieved that their fighting had ended. Once Klaus started kissing Audrey, it was hard to stop. She was too irresistible. Audrey pulled back and looked up at Klaus with her wide doe like eyes. "I came here for a dress, remember?" She teased.

"Way to ruin the moment," Klaus sighed playfully. He took a hold of Audrey's hand and led her up to Rebekah's room. He pulled the human into Rebekah's closet and showed her all of the 20's style dresses. Audrey picked a glittery red dress that fell to her knees. It was sequenced and had a sharp v neck that she knew Klaus would love. After picking out all the accessories to match her dress she went back home to get ready with Elena and Caroline.

"Oh my god! Audrey, I said I was wearing red!" Caroline complained.

"Sorry Care! It's not like their the same dress though," Audrey chuckled as she slipped into her gown. "I really hope tonight is drama free,"

"Same," Both Elena and Caroline chirped.

Audrey stepped into Mystic High's gym with her sister and best friend looking like she walked out of the 1920s. Her hair was pinned up to appear short and a thick red headband went around her forehead. Her dress sparkled in the light and it made her seem illuminating. Klaus, who had already been at the dance, froze when he caught sight of her. She was simply breathtaking. He was about to walk over to her but Matt Donovan stepped in and swept her away. "Matthew!" Audrey giggled as he pulled her onto the dance floor.

"I always start off every dance with you, little Gilbert!" Matt chuckled. "Do you think we should show off our swing dancing moves?"

"From Freshman year?" Audrey laughed. "I can't believe you remember that!"

"Of course I do! That was the best dance I ever performed in my life," Matt said seriously. "Come on, let's do this," Audrey smiled widely and sighed dramatically. Matt held out his hand for her and she gladly took it. Klaus was still watching the couple closely when Matt spun Audrey around. They began to dance to the fast beat of the song and showed off their swing moves. Klaus was amused by his soulmate's dancing, but the darker side of him wanted blood at the sight of the Donovan boy all over his beauty. After the song was over and a slower one began, he made his way over to Audrey.

"May I cut in?" Klaus questioned not too friendly.

"Oh-uh sure," Matt muttered stepping aside. Klaus pulled Audrey close to him and sent a glare to the human boy. Audrey smacked his chest and narrowed her eyes at her soulmate.

"Be nice," She growled. Klaus rolled his eyes at her and leaned down to capture her lips in a passionate kiss. Stefan, who was dancing with Elena nearby, watched the couple with disgust. No matter how much he cared about Audrey, he still couldn't stop himself from hating Klaus with everything he had.

"You would've loved the 1920s, love. The girls were reckless, sexy, fun. They literally used to dance until they dropped," Klaus chuckled as he swayed with Audrey, holding her close.

"Sometimes I wish I would've been born earlier. We could have had a century together by now," Audrey giggled. Klaus smiled softly at her and felt his heart start to pound. She made him feel like a juvenile human again.

"I wish that to," Klaus sighed. "On the bright side, we have forever now,"

"But your mother-," Audrey began.

"Is dead. I saw her body last night," Klaus said cutting her off. Audrey froze and looked up at Klaus with a happy smile.

"Wait really? She's dead?! She won't try to kill us anymore?!" She shouted happily.

"Yes love," Klaus laughed. Audrey embraced her soulmate tightly and laughed gleefully. Relief spread throughout her whole body. Klaus wanted to hold her forever and now that the threat of his mother was gone, he could. He vowed to protect her for the rest of their existence. After the song was over neither of them wanted to stay at the dance any longer. Klaus wanted to celebrate with his soulmate but just as he was about to walk out of the school he was stopped. Audrey was able to exit but got pulled back when Klaus couldn't leave. He looked down at the line of salt going around the school and furrowed his eyebrows. "What is this?" He questioned to himself. Suddenly, Stefan appeared.

"Your mother is back,"

"What's taking so long? All boundary spells have a loophole," Klaus growled angrily as he held Audrey to him protectively. Bonnie sat on the floor with candles everywhere chanting spells while Jeremy, Jamie, Damon, Stefan, Klaus, and Audrey all watched. Before anyone could answer Klaus, Matt walked in.

"People are walking right out of the dance, past the barrier," He stated with confusion.

"Matt and I can leave, we can stop Esther ourselves. We just gotta find out where she is," Jeremy said sternly.

"It's suicide, Jeremy," Stefan reasoned.

"Not to mention stupid!" Audrey chimed in pulling out of Klaus's hold. "If you go, I'm going,"

"Hell no!" Damon and Klaus shouted at the same time. Audrey frowned at the two men and cocked an eyebrow. "You're delusional if you think I'm letting you go anywhere near mother psycho, little bird," Everyone grew silent. Audrey walked back over to Klaus and buried her face into his chest as his arms went around her.

"I'm scared," She whispered to him.

"I know," Klaus sighed. Bonnie was still trying to undo the spell but it seemed almost hopeless by now. After a few more minutes Audrey stepped away from Klaus.

"I need to pee," She mumbled earning a few chuckles from around the room. Klaus let her walk away from him without a second thought. When she reached the bathroom she grabbed out her phone to check it. A text from Elena had her heart stopping. "At cemetery. Esther is turning Ric. Please hurry." Audrey's bladder was quickly forgotten as she raced out of the school.

-

"Where the hell is Audrey?" Klaus growled for what seemed like the hundredth time.

"I just checked the bathroom and she's not there. I think she left," Matt explained as he walked back into the room.

"She knows where Esther is. My guess is Elena somehow managed to tell her," Damon muttered. Klaus, now enraged by his missing soulmate, grabbed Jeremy Gilbert and brought him over to Bonnie.

"What the hell man?" Jeremy scoffed.

"Use the locator spell to find her," Klaus snapped at Bonnie. Without waiting for an answer, he bit into Jeremy's wrist and let his blood drop onto the town map. "Now," Bonnie worked quickly but she couldn't track Audrey or Elena.

"Esther's blocking me," Bonnie huffed.

"How can she be exerting so much power?" Damon questioned. It was like a light going off in Klaus's head.

"I know where they are," Klaus stated. Everything inside of him snapped at the thought of Audrey being in danger and it was as if something took over him. His demons raged and the need to protect his soulmate overpowered him. He was going to find her and save her. No one would stand in his way.
