"If Esther wants to talk to me, maybe I should find out why," Elena argued to the two Salvatore brothers.

"Well that's a dumb idea, she already tried to kill you once," Damon shot back. While the three of them were trying to work things out, Audrey was getting ready to go out. She needed to see Caroline. She was just about to open the door when Damon rushed over to block her. "Where do you think you're going, little bird?"

"To see my friend who's father just died," Audrey explained. Damon stepped forward and narrowed his eyes at the younger Gilbert.

"You and your sister aren't going to the Mikaelson's tonight," He growled. Audrey rolled her eyes and smiled up at her friend.

"Well, I don't know about Elena but I'm going and you're going to be my hot date," Audrey smirked, patting the older Salvatore's cheek. "Oh come on Damon, lighten up! I can't have a pouty date," Damon shook his head at the human but cracked a small smile. She pushed past him and walked over to her car. Her mind was still swirling over the fact that she was Klaus's soulmate. Before stopping at Caroline's, Audrey stopped at her friend's favorite bakery. She picked up Caroline's favorite food and left. When Audrey walked into the Forbes's house she had to dodge a flying shoe coming her way. "Whoa! I know you're pissed at me but don't take it out on your Louboutin heels!" Audrey shouted at her friend. Caroline walked out of her room and crossed her arms.

"What are you doing here?" Caroline asked as she glared at her friend.

"I brought I'm sorry donuts and chai lattes," Audrey sighed, holding up the bag and coffees. Caroline cocked an eyebrow but showed no sign of forgiveness. "Oh come on Care! They're cookie dough filled donuts,"

"Damn you for knowing my weakness!" Caroline shouted, faking anger. She stormed over to her friend and snatched the bag and coffee from her hands. "God, I love 'Mama's Bakery'," Caroline groaned as she bit into her donut. "Thank you,"

"I'm sorry for not being there for you yesterday," Audrey said. "I thought there was something more important to deal with but there wasn't. Helping you should've been my number one priority," Caroline smiled sadly at her friend.

"Don't worry Aud. We knew this would happen if my dad were to ever turn into a vampire. He would never want to live that way," Caroline sighed. "I just want to find whoever did this and I want to kill Meredith Fell. Since when did becoming a doctor meant taking the easy way out and giving someone vampire blood?" Audrey smiled at her friend and shrugged. After making up the two girls left and met Elena at The Grill.

"It's all so weird. The Originals are throwing a ball. Like an actual ball," Elena said in disbelief.

"It's some twisted Cinderella fetish is what it is. And why does the Evil Witch want an audience with you?" Caroline asked as she leaned in.

"I have no idea. There's only one way to find out," Elena sighed.

"I thought you told Damon and Stefan that you weren't going," Audrey said cocking an eyebrow at her sister.

"I did, which is all the more reason why I need a drama free bodyguard," Elena replied, her eyes going to Caroline.

"Well, I think a Salvatore would look a lot better in a tux. And by that I mean Stefan," Caroline smirked.

"Please, Damon in a tux is way better," Audrey scoffed.

"Ugh, I can't deal with either of the Salvatores right now. Whatever Stefan is feeling, he is channeling it all against Klaus. And Damon...is just not a good idea," Elena trailed off while glancing at her sister.

"Why, cause you two made out?" Caroline questioned. Elena's mouth fell open in shock. "Audrey spilled the beans,"

"Audrey!" Elena yelled. Audrey just looked down and took a sip of her coffee. "I was gonna tell you. Just after everything happened with your dad...,"

"Elena, when you and Matt kissed for the first time freshman year, you called me the second it happened. And now I don't hear about this til now, and from somebody else?" Caroline accused. Audrey scoffed at the blonde vampire and shook her head.

"Care, I told you the second it happened," Audrey chuckled.

"Yeah which was like a day later for you," Caroline replied. Audrey laughed at her friend and rolled her eyes.

"I'm sorry. It's just I, I don't even know how I feel about it yet. All I do know is that it just used to be so much easier," Elena sighed, holding her head in her hands. All three girls were silent for a while until someone walking up to them caught their attention.

"Careful Caroline, it's all well and good until she stabs you in the back," Rebekah sneered at Elena. Audrey stood up and smiled at the Original.

"Bekah, I know you're angry but come on. It's suppose to be a joyous evening," Audrey said trying to ease her friend's attitude.

"Audrey, I love you to bits and pieces but I really can't stand your sister," Rebekah said. "Trust me, I'll make a much better one," Audrey's eyes widened and she gave Rebekah a pleading look.

"What are you doing here? I know your mom's rules. No hurting the locals," Elena stated with confusion.

"Get over yourself Elena. It's not all about you," Rebekah smirked. She gave Audrey one last smile before walking over to Matt. She handed him an invitation and smiled flirtatiously at him.

"Oh my god! She's inviting him to the ball! Why is she inviting him?" Caroline asked furiously.

"Probably to get this reaction from us," Elena chuckles. Rebekah gives the girls one last dirty look before leaving.

"What time is this stupid dance?" Caroline scoffed. Audrey smirked at her friend.

"Well girls, I need to go get ready," Audrey announced standing up. "I have a super hot date,"

"Who Klaus?" Caroline joked. Audrey widened her eyes and shot Caroline a look. Elena looked between the two girls in confusion.

"What?" She asked.

"Nothing!" Audrey said before turning around to leave. At the mention of the hybrid, Audrey's mind filled with him again. The drive home for her consisted of her trying to push Klaus out of her head. She was walking up to her front door when someone cleared their throat behind her. She turned to find a man holding a box. "Can I help you?"

"Audrey Gilbert?" He asked.

"Yeah?" The man smiled and handed her the box. "What is this?" She asked but he ignored her and walked away. Audrey was completely confused by now but opened the box anyways. She laughed sarcastically when she saw what was inside. "Oh my god. Of course,"

It took Audrey an hour to decide if she should wear the dress Klaus sent her, and it took her two hours to get ready. By the time Damon came to pick her up she was frustrated beyond belief. She looked at herself one last time in the mirror. Her hair was curled nicely and laid on her right shoulder. Her makeup was dark but it brought out her eyes same as the sapphire colored dress Klaus bought for her. It fell elegantly on her and showed off all her curves. She wore white gloves with it and the bracelet Klaus got for her. Although she'd hate to admit it, she looked amazing. "Audrey!" Damon called out from downstairs. Audrey smiled at her reflection and walked out of her room. She slowly descended the staircase and watched as Damon's eyes widened. "Whoa, nice dress," Damon complimented. Audrey smiled widely at him.

"Thanks. It was a last minute buy," Audrey lied. Damon held out his arm for her as she neared him. "Wow, Damon Salvatore. You look damn good in a tux,"

"You're surprised by this?" Damon questioned playfully.

"Nope!" Audrey laughed. "I have the hottest date. I mean everyone is going to be so jealous," She smiled up at him. Damon smiled back, happy that they weren't on bad terms anymore.

"Ditto," Damon smiled. The two friends took a moment to appreciate each other before leaving for the dance. Klaus knew the moment Audrey arrived from her intoxicating smell. He looked at the front doors of his mansion right as she walked in. He smiled when he saw she was wearing his dress, but his smile dropped when he saw Damon Salvatore on her arm. He watched them carefully and waited for the perfect moment to approach her. When Damon walked away from her, Klaus sauntered over to her.

"Audrey Gilbert. You look spectacular," Klaus complimented while taking her hand to lay a kiss on it. He saw his bracelet on her wrist and smirked. Audrey blushed and quickly snatched her hand away. "I see you're wearing my present. Both of them,"

"Oh don't look so smug," Audrey scoffed. Klaus smirked anyways and chuckled at her. "We still need to talk, you know,"

"What do we need to talk about again?" Klaus asked obliviously.

"How about the fact that your mother-," Audrey cut herself off when she realized how loud she was talking. She leaned in and finished her sentence more quietly. "Said we were soulmates,"

"Oh, that," Klaus frowned.

"Yes that! I mean, what are we going to do?" Audrey asked him hopelessly. Klaus glanced around and grabbed Audrey's hand. He pulled her through the bustling crowd until they reached his backyard. Audrey looked around in amazement. He had the most beautiful garden she'd ever seen. "Wow,"

"At least we can talk in private now," Klaus muttered. Audrey looked back at him and sighed.

"I know you don't want this," She started off. Klaus gave her a confused look. "I know you Klaus. You don't want a weakness and that's exactly what I'll become. I mean look at us! We don't even like each other but we're both willing to save each other. I mean honest to God, I'd jump in front of a bullet for you even though it wouldn't hurt you at all!"

"Audrey-," Klaus tried to say but Audrey cut him off.

"No! I need to get this out," Audrey said looking him in the eyes. "For months I've been going crazy because I've felt things for you that I'm not suppose to feel. I mean, I feel freaking sparks when I touch you! There's some sort of pull between us and I thought it was all in my head. Now, I get told that this is all because of some soulmate bond and I..I just don't know what to do," By now she has tears in her eyes from the frustration. "This is all so wrong but all I can think about is how relieving it is to finally have an explanation for this!" Klaus looked at the broken human in front of him and felt her pain. For once in his life he was actually sympathizing with someone. "God! Why can't my life be simple for once?!" She shouted, walking away from him. She hugged herself and tried to keep her tears at bay. Klaus didn't know what to say.

"You're right. I don't want a weakness," Klaus stated hesitantly. "But it's not like I can stop this. If you're in some kind of danger I react quick. I do everything I can to save you and half the time I don't even realize I'm doing it until after," Klaus admitted. He felt so weird admitting how he felt to someone, but it felt easy when he was around Audrey. "I feel the same thing you feel and I was relieved when I had an answer to this too," Audrey looked at him again and saw that he was being honest.

"So what are we going to do?" She asked softly. Klaus walked closer to her and reached out to touch her face. His thumb grazed her lip causing her breath to hitch.

"I don't know," Klaus answered truthfully. They looked into each other's eyes and for a moment, it was as if the world didn't exist. It was only them. Both of them knew they only felt this way because of the soulmate bond, but it didn't stop them from the intense feelings.

"Brother-," A voice called out. Audrey and Klaus jumped away from each other and looked to see Elijah standing at the back door. "Um...we're about to greet the guest and mother wants you to be there," Klaus nodded at his older brother. Elijah gave the couple one last look before returning inside.

"I guess you should go," Audrey smiled softly. "You have guests to greet,"

"Save me a dance?" Klaus asked with a smirk. Audrey smiled and shook her head.

"You're unbelievable," She giggled. When she saw the seriousness in his eyes she sighed. "I suppose I can save one dance for you. I mean you did save my life a couple times now," Klaus smiled and grabbed Audrey's hand. He kissed it again.

"I'll be seeing ya then," He said, holding onto her hand for a little longer.

"I'll be seeing ya," She repeated back.
