"Daddy look!"
"Oh my god what do we have here?"
Daddy picked me up out of my play pen that they'd set up in our room. It was in just the right spot at the window that I could feel the sun warming me as I rummaged through my special backpack, that I had already basically forgot the contents of.
I waved around my tiara that I pulled out to show off. As daddy held me up high I put the tiara down on his head, holding it there with determination to make sure it wouldn't fall. I let out a little grunt of focus and daddy laughed.
"Are you crowning me baby bear? Am I the Princess now?"
Daddy tilted his head and asked. I shook my head, remembering what princess Periwinkle had said before
"No-no no! Chu n Papa King! Wenny pincess!"
Daddy smiled and nodded along as I started babbling about princess families
I had his full attention and I liked that. I'd been very awake and all hyper-y after my nap (Papa thinks I slept too long in the car but nah its fine) and Daddy and Papa were super fun earlier but then when we brought all our stuff in the car and they both got busy putting stuff away.
I wasn't having it though, I wanted to keep adventuring. It was really fun, I mean we met a real life princess on our first trip round, who knows what else is out there.
"Daddy we goin venturin again?"
"I dunno baby, I think we might just chill out in here for a bit"
My spirits dropped.
"Buh venturin"
"Baby we've got the whole week to go venturin"
I pouted.
"...buh venturin"
Papa shut the wardrobe doors and chuckled. He came over to us and bent down a little so he was face to face with me.
"What are you plotting bubba?"
I turned excitedly to papa, gaining back my spirit. Maybe Papa would say yes.
"Papa, we go splorin some more?"
With one hand still holding the tiara to Daddy's head I reached out the other and grabbed Papa's hair. I giggled, Papa's hair was fun to pull.
"Gently bubba, I don't wanna go bald this early"
I stopped pulling so hard, more so messing around with his hair.
"I think we're done with the exploring for the minute bubba-"
I was about to whine and get upset, but Papa continued.
"However if Daddy's not too opposed, how about we check out the pool?"
Daddy gasped.
"I am the least bit opposed to the pool! How about it little bat? You wanna go for a swim?"
I squealed, mirroring Daddy's excitement as he bounced me in his arms. I nodded, daddy and papa cheering, making me laugh loads.
"An bring stuffie?"
"Course we can bring him bubba, not sure if he'll be allowed in the pool though"
"Dat oki"
I have daddy and papa to keep me safe, stuffies just for backup (don't tell him I said that though, he's sensitive).
"How about we just change here, avoid the changing rooms and such"
"Mhm smart"
Papa took me from Daddy so he could get things together while Papa dressed me.
He layed down a mat on the floor and got me changed me into a swim diaper, then called out to daddy, who came out of the bathroom in his brightly coloured swim trunks and a t shirt, carrying a drawstring bag.
"Wassup"
"Could you grab wrens swim trunks?"
"Actually... I've got a new option for us"

Daddy pulled some piece of clothing out of the bag. I was getting impatient, so began to squirm. Papa rubbed my tummy, shushing me before asking.
"When did we get this? We already have shorts, why did he need a one piece too?"
Papa looked over the swimming costume. Daddy shrugged.
"I dunno David, baby clothes just appear sporadically around the house, don't blame me"
"Fair enough, so bubba, do you wanna wear the onesie or the shorts"
"Dunno"
I mumbled, trying to flip myself over to crawl but Papa picked me up before I could, rubbing my back.
"Well let's try the onesie, give it here"
Daddy handed it over and papa started putting it on me.
The onesie was odd feeling. It was all stretchy and clung to my skin. It was blue with a sail boat on the front and little waves on the sleeves and short bits.
Papa zipped it up in the front and went to get changed himself.
Daddy picked me up, showing me myself in the mirror.
"Now that doesn't look half bad does it baby bear. I think you look stunning"
I didn't really mind the swimsuit, it was a bit awkward to put on compared to the shorts, but non the less.
Soon Papa was changed into his black shorts and a t shirt as well.
"Alright I think we're good to go, everything in the bag, towels, goggles, hats?"
"We've got towels, and the pool doesn't require goggles or hats"
"Incredible, let's set off then"
I couldn't help myself as we walked out of the room from waving my hands about and exclaiming
"Swiminin!"
Daddy whooped.
"Yeah wren were going Swimming!"
We made our way over to the pool, me and Daddy looked in through the little circle windows while Papa checked us in.
We walked through the changing and locker rooms which had a good few people in them so I hid my face in Daddy's neck. Though I had to be passed to Papa so daddy could take shirt off.
We put all our stuff in a little locker, including stuffie and my paci, cause daddy said they couldn't come in the pool. It made me a little sad but the excitement over the pool outweighed it.
Daddy even praised me for being a brave boy, although it was easy when I had Papa to hold onto.
And so we were finally pool ready. Papa gave me a few little tickles as we left the changing room and I looked up to try grab at his hair in retaliation but stopped when I saw all around me.
My first thought as we stood looking at whole pool area was simply wow.
It was massive, and I know I'd seen it before threw the little windows but it was even cooler when you were actually in there. There were loads of different pools and people.
I found myself oddly unbothered by all the people, sure I was always a bit anxious but they were all family's doing their own thing and I had much more pressing matters to think about.
Like the giant big colourful twirly tubes really high up in the sky!
One of them lead down to somewhere close by and I watched as a girl came out of it. She laughed and stood, going into the pool to join her family.
Is that where people come from? Big sky tubes. Maybe... big sky tubes seemed more plausible and honestly more fun than what Jam tried to tell me a while ago. Though they were put in time out before they could finish.

My thoughts were interupted by Papa waving his hand in front of my face.
"Hello hello, is Wren in there?"
He jokingly knocked on my head and I giggled.
"Ah there you are princess"
"Papa squiggly tubes!"
"I know bubba, they're so big and windey, I like the colours too. Do you see the lazy river wren?"
Papa pointed past the big main pool in front of us, towards something coming off it.
"Was zat?"
"Oh it's very fun baby, like a merry go round but in the water. Me and Daddy will hold onto you and we all drift around"
Before I could even think about floating down a river with Papa and Daddy it occurred to me. Where was Daddy?
I looked around and whined a bit.
"Where Daddy?"
A voice came from behind me
"I'm right here baby bat"
I squealed and babbled at daddy as he kissed the top of my head.
"Put your arms out sweetie"
Papa held me out and I stuck my up. Daddy slipped a hard vest jacket thing on me, zipping it up.
"Wha zis? Why on?"
I asked as I felt around the hard orange vest.
"It's a floatie vest darling, helps little ones like you keep above the water and the pool rules say any kiddo under three has to wear one."
"Buh am sisteeeen"
I lisped around a finger I chewed on, daddy took it out and gave it a little kiss. Papa then reminded me.
"Vampire years bubba, you're not even two yet, tiny baby"
He nuzzled my temple and cooed. I wanted to frown a bit but found it hard under all the love.
"Oh yeh"
I said quietly, I always forgot about vampire years, made things confusing. Daddy kissed my forehead.
"Ok now that this little one is all float-ally protected, are we ready?"
Papa smiled.
"Oh definitely, come on bubba, are we ready?"
He held me up high like that one movie with the lions that made Daddy cry. Bad movie making Daddy cry.
As papa held me up, I could see everything, all the people so excited. All the cool stuff to do.
I may have gotten a bit hyper again.
============================
Wren had been practically buzzing the entire day, I think the extra long nap really had him wired(plus the Princess pep talk). So he was nearly jumped out of my arms at the sight of pool.
Despite all the energy, he was still apprehensive about going in the water, maybe he just skipped that bit when he thought of the pool. Still he wanted to go in, he just wanted some help.
Which me and Ricky were more than happy to supply.
We walked down the slanted ramp like entrance to the main pool up until we were at about our waist, wrens feet dipping in and out of the water.
"Ready princess?"
Wren nodded and tightened his grip around my neck. We gradually lowered ourselves into the water, Ricky coaxing him the entire. But he was being super brave about it, as as we're in past his waist he started getting excited all over again, almost as if he remembered "Oh yeah water is fun!'.
He took one hand off me and started splashing it in the water. In turn throwing little splashes at me and Ricky in fits of giggles.
"Oh you think thats funny little one?"
Wren nodded, smiling wildly.
"Well how's this?"
I threw a massive splash towards Ricky, completely soaking him. He sputtered and laughed. Wren bursting into a new round of giggles right alongside.
"I'd throw one back but I'm not evil"
I grabbed my heart and feigned being hurt.
"Low blow Ricky, I'm farthest thing from. I think you'll find wrens the real evil genius here"
"Wren whipped his head around to me in surprise at what I just said. He turned back to Ricky and began frantically shaking his head, trying to explain.
"Noooo, wrenny no evil. I good boy"
Ricky chuckled and awed, stealing Wren away from me to coo at.
"Aw of course you're not evil, you're my good little bat. Papa's the evil one, isn't he"
Wren nodded with his saddest of puppy eyes.
I didn't even have to feign hurt at that one. My jaw hung open and Ricky closed it for me.
"Oh calm down David, don't make a scene"
Wren giggled and chuckled a sigh.
"We're terrible influences aren't we"
"Well not terrible terrible, but some things were gonna have to unteach"
We swam around the main pool abit, with Wren switching from Ricky's chest to Ricky's back to nearly the top of his head before I suggested he sat on my shoulders for the deep bits.
So there wren was, happily sitting atop my shoulders, messing with my hair until suddenly he gave sharp tug on the left side of my head, sending me tilting and stumbling a bit.
Wren then pulled on the right side, turning me right.
"Princess what're you-"
But I was too late to intervene, the gears were already turning in wrens head, he had put 2 and 2 together, creating a brand new game.
The game would ultimately be very painful for me but very fun for wren and for Ricky to watch. The game was called..
"-HORSIE!"
Wren screeched and began slapping my head like it were a set of bongos
"Uh oh"
Ricky sniggered, laughing at my inevitable doom if this game was what we thought it would be.
I wanted to drown him in that moment, but I couldn't due to the small child that was currently in charge of my every movement via tugging on my hair. Much similar to certain rat chef, but in wrens mind it was far more similar to horse and its rider.
"Papa horse go!"
Wrens confidence had nearly doubled atop of me, almost like the height and the power had gone to his head quick.
He forced me to charge froward into the families all around the pool, narrowly turning me away at the last second.
Ricky followed behind, apologising to people and saying I wasn't in control. People mostly laughed and one girl even asked her dad if she could do the same to him. He gave her a resounding no. I only wish I could have that will power with wren.
We did laps and laps around the main pool, definitely not doing as much exploring as intended, but that didn't really matter. We were having fun.
The game began to evolve as we ran out of people to dodge.
It turned into an almost hide and seek sort of game. Us closing our eyes, and Ricky hiding. But he was considered a cheater when we found him holding his breath under the water. Not cool.
Then the game turned into a climbing game for wren, where he had to get up on his horse as quick as possible. The water apparently made it a bit hard for him to find his grip but he overcame it quickly, and already being a pro climber soon made the game boring.
That was when the game evolved to 'blind horsie' where I had to close my eyes as wren led me around.
Then wren closed his eyes and tried to follow Ricky's voice.
Then eventually we both had our eyes closed, trying to follow Ricky's voice. We had tried to move to a more less populated area but it proved to be difficult.
"Over hereeeee~"
Ricky sang out and wren giggled as he wrenched me over to where he thought the noise had come from.
"Go papa horse!"
Wren said, and I took a few big steps forward, pretty confident we were headed towards Ricky. As turns out we were a bit off
I knocked into wall, at least I thought it was a wall till it angrily said
"Watch where you're going Jeez!"
I opened my eyes and was met by a truck of a man. I immediately apologise, despite his curt tone.
"Oh sorry, we were just playing a game, didn't exactly see you there"
I tried to laugh it off but he didn't seem in much of a funny mood.
"What're you blind?"
I was taken a bit aback. I tried to remain calm.
"No, but as I said we were just playing a game-"
He cut me off.
"-You think people could have a little bit of fuckin care for the people around you"
I wanted to go off on him for cursing in front of wren, or just in a family environment in general but held back. I wasn't bothered to waist my energy on him.
He stormed off through the water, probably back to some family.
I turned around to see Ricky behind me. He looked concerned.
"God he was rude wasn't he?-"
I was cut off by a little sniffle above me.
Ricky started as I pulled wren down from my neck.
"Hey hey you're alright baby bear, no need for tears"
Ricky took wren in his arms as I rubbed his back. He was sniffling and crying a little bit.
"Princess did the rude man make you cry?"
He nodded with a whimper.
"Oh bubba I'm sorry, well the mean man is all gone now. Its just papa and daddy"
Wren wiped and rubbed at his face.
"Jus daddy and papa?"
"Yeah it's just us, nothing else you should even be worrying about baby, focus on us"
"Oki"
I thought quickly about what we should do next, to distract wren from upset, figuring we should stop the horsie game there.
"Oh I have an idea princess!"
Wren looked at me quizzically.
"How about we go around the lazy river, nice and calm over there."
"Quiet"
"Yeah baby, probably a bit quieter than over here"
"Oki go there then"
We carted wren on over to the lazy river, which quietly and sparsely populated by a few people, certainly less than the main pool.
We stepped into the stream and were swept away by the gentle current.
Wren at first clung to Ricky, only barely feeling the waves. I encouraged him.
"Here wren baby, why don't we try like this? Just trust me bubba"
Wren nodded suspiciously and I took him from Ricky.
"Help me bit honey"
I asked Ricky and he instantly knew what to do.
"Course darling"
"Alright wren do you remember when we went swimming in the lake and you laid on your back, with me and Daddy holding you up?"
"Uh huh"
Wren responded unsure.
"Well this is just like that princess, so just relax, we've got you"
I held wren away from me for moment and began to lower to him back into the water. He whimpered but didn't cry out or anything. Ricky held his hand and brushed his fingers through wrens hair.
"Good boy wren, such a good baby"
Wren smiled a little at praise, and soon he was laid back in the gently flowing water. His feet bobbed to the surface and Ricky pretended there was a monster about to eat them, tickling them and making wren squeal.
Wren then looked to me, big big innocent eyes, with small little grin on display. I asked him.
"How're you feeling baby?"
"Good papa!"
Wren kicked his little feet and giggled. Good mood restored... and I'd have to find that oaf that made my baby cry later, give him a good talking to.
