《Far Too Little (Age Regression)》35. Papa's here

"Sir stop! That is not your child, you cannot take them from the facility"
"I'm not, I'm going to call his parents, and wait with him, right here till someone comes for him. I'm not 'taking him from the facility', I'm just waiting till his parents do"
The nice man held me close to his leg with Finn on my other side, holding my hand. He walked to the cubbies and I whimpered thinking about how I caused this. I started nervously muttering.
"I'm sowwy I'm sowwy, wanna go home"
"Soon sweetie soon but first, which one is your bag?"
I fell over my words and struggled to point out my bag as the hand I lifted shook violently. I quickly retracted it and whined pitifully. I was making everything so much harder.
"It's that one papi!"
Finn jumped for emphasis as he pointed to my bag.
"Thank you pumpkin"
Her dad took it down and lead us to the gate around the main door, breezing past kyle who fruitlessly tried to stop him. He sat us down on two stools in there. I pulled my knees up and hugged them to my chest.
He opened up my bag and searched through it, pulling out my blankie first. I made grabby hands, desperate for something soft to hold. He handed it over and I couldn't stop my happy noises as I wrapped my hands around the soft material.
Then I felt a little push at my lips, I looked up from blankie to see Finn's dad offering me my paci. I instantly latched onto the rubber nub and sucked happily.
"Is there anything else you want from your bag? Maybe this guy?"
He pulled out stuffie and I quietly squealed, reaching out once again.
Once I had my 3 comforts back in my arms, everything seemed a lot more ok. I stopped shaking as much and my breathing became more even. I was still scared though, what if Jane comes back, I've broken so many rules. I bet Daddy and Papa will be mad.
My stuff gonna get taken away again. I whimpered and hugged stuffie and blankie close.
"You feeling a little better now wren?"
I nodded with tears still pouring and the man gently rubbed my back.
"Ok sweetie, it'll be ok. Does your mommy or daddy work here?"
"Muh- my Papa work here"
"What's your Papa's name?"
"I- uh It's D-da Dav-"
"David?"
I nodded, still trembling. A lightbulb went off in the man's head.
"You're Nightshade's lad aren't you? David and uh- Ricky I believe"
He knows my daddies! I nodded frantically.
"Your Papa talks about you alot bud and you're even cuter than the photos, I'll get him down here now"
I blushed and buried my face into blankie.
Finn's papi stood and got out his phone while Finn tried talking to me however it was fairly one sided. He complimented stuffie and said he looked really fluffy but I couldn't bring myself to say thank you, talking was hard. He seemed to understand though.
I snapped my attention to Finn's Papi as he began talking on the phone.
"Hello? Yes hello, Mr Nightshade, its mark. Mark down in accounting- yes I'm so sorry to distract you but I'm here with your son, yes wren... No he's not seriously hurt, I don't think. I was just picking up my son, Finn and he- he looked like he needed some help, look I can explain it once your here... I'm still in the daycare with the both of them, as I can't take him from the facility... Well, he's calmed down a little but he's still quite upset. Ok, will do"

He kneeled down to me
"Your Papa's on his way buddy"
I tried a wobbly smile but it wasn't working out so I settled for my shakey speech.
"Hank-oo"
I turned and mumbled the same to Finn, who smiled and tried wiping away more of my tears with his long sleeves, it tickled a little, earning a tiny giggle out of me.
Finn stopped and smiled wider, then determined to get me to laugh again.
He made silly faces and tried telling a joke but forgot the ending and had to ask his Papi what it was.
I appreciated the distraction until the Nursery door opened again and all focus I had on Finn was on the door.
I was enveloped in a hug almost immediately, my nose filled with the sharp yet calming scent of Papa's cologne. I instinctively curled up in his arms and began to whimper. I felt fingers running threw my hair.
"Shshsh it'll be ok bubba, Papa's here"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I cradled my distressed baby in my arms. His face was blotchy from the crying that wouldn't cease. I covered his body with blankies, I couldn't look at his cuts right now. They only made the rage I'd pushed down for later grow and right now, wren didn't need me being angry.
"Do you wanna go princess"
Wren nodded. I kissed his forehead
"
Alright"
I turned to stare down the man looking after the other kids, the same one from this morning. He sheepishly handed me the sign out sheet. I'm guessing he could tell how mad I was by the fact he wouldn't make eye contact with me.
That, I was perfectly alright with. I'd be back later, once all the children were gone.
I signed Wren out, slung his little bag over my shoulder and motioned for Mark to follow me outside. We left into the hallway. I continued stroking wren's head, and wren rested his head on my shoulder. His pacifier bopped and he rubbed stuffie up against his cheek.
Taking this opportunity to talk to Mark as wren wasn't paying much attention.
"So what happened?"
Mark sighed and was about to start, when his own little boy, standing at his feet, stuck his hand up.
"I know, i- I know!"
Mark mouthed a sorry to me but it wasn't a problem to me. I nodded for the boy to talk.
"Well Wren was tryna get to his bag and he climbed up the cubbies and-"
I briefly thought to myself, how the hell did wren climb up those shelves? I pushed the thought aside and listened to the boy.
"-and I tink he tried to get to his lunch cause he hungry and didn't eat breakfas' buh den Jane took it away and-"
"Hold on sweetie, who's Jane?"
Mark interuppted his son and he looked up at his dad.
"Oh, she's a new grown up there but she's a bit of a meanie"
Both me and Mark frowned but Mark told him to keep going.
"And Jane put Wren in the corner buh she dragged him and took his Teddy and dummy! Really mean. She- she left wren in the naughty corner and then she left all us. Then Papi helped"
He looked up at his dad and Mark picked him up, setting him on his hip.
"When I went in, no one was watching them. Finn pointed out wren to me and-"
He sighed and rubbed his temples, looking back over at the door.
"I swore this place was trustworthy, Finns always enjoyed it but God, Im not bringing him back after this"
I hummed in agreement.
"Well, thank you for... this and trust me, 'this' is not just gonna be let go"
Mark smiled and told me it was no problem, any half decent person would do the same.
I smirked to myself, quickly looked the guy up and down. He was just some guy from accounting but maybe I overlooked him.
"See you soon, Mark from accounting"
I heard a laugh as I walked away
"Will do David"
As I headed to the elevator, past the other daycare classrooms, I fussed over wren. He may have calmed down slightly but I had not. And during my fussing, I noticed a wet patch on the back of wren's dungarees.
"Oh bubba"
Wren looked up at me with worry, he probably didn't even notice. I decided not to mention it till we were in a 'more private' place.
"Did no one change you?"
He sniffled and shook his head. I rubbed his back and whispered sweet things in his ear.
"Its ok bubba, Papa's here now, Papa will change you. Let's go get you changed"
We finally reached the elevator just as I covered wren back up with the blanket. I opened the doors, stepped in and pressed the button for my floor. Somehow we lucked out and no one joined us during the ride.
"Bubba, just so you know, there's gonna be a few people on Papa's floor, but I'll make them clear off, so no worries"
Wren made a little whine and I scratched the back of his head to soothe him. He settled down a bit and rested his head on my shoulder, suckling his paci softly.
The doors opened and I stepped out and everyones head turned to me, and the fledgling in my arms. They didn't matter much, just some interns, dropping stuff off, picking stuff up and also my secretary.
"Alright, everyone's gonna do me a huge favour, ask me no questions and leave this floor"
The interns scattered past me into the elevator, not daring to stare. Stacy, my secretary didn't even look up from her computer.
"So I'm guessing today's meetings are cancelled"
"Yup"
I started walking to the bathroom.
"You got an excuse that they'll accept yet"
"I'll think of one in a second stace"
"Aight"
I ducked into the bathroom, and headed straight for the stall with a changing table, locking the door behind me.
I pulled down the hard plastic changing table, wiped it down quickly and laid wren's blankie down for his head. Then laying Wren down as well. Wren cried out as I detached him from myself, struggling to try stay in my arms, so much he dropped stuffie. Thankfully I caught the horse before he could hit the floor and place him safely with wren on the changing table.
I tried soothing wren with one hand, rubbing his forehead with my thumb while the other hand searched through the bag and pulled out the nessecary supplies, Diaper, cream, wipes. Wren however, not too pleased with how this situation was going began crying louder.
"Shshsh Papa will be quick princess, let's get you out of those wet clothes now"
I unbuckled the wet dungarees and slipped them off, with some struggle as wren started kicking and squirming.
"I know bubba, Papa's a meanie"
Wren whined and frowned at me
"Papa nu meanie"
"Alright bubba, Papa's not a meanie. And since I'm not a meanie, can we stop with the kicking for a second?"
Wren whined loudly and half stomped his foot, I took that as a no and solidered on. I unclipped the soaked through dinosaur onesie and took that off too.
I wren's tummy a soft rub for reassurance and untaped his diaper. I winced at the forming rash and quickly began wiping him down before throwing the soiled item away.
Wren began to wail as the coldness of being naked on the table set in. I moved swiftly, placing the new diaper under wren. I gently rubbed cream into the rash area and taped up the new diaper.
"Ok princess, your doing so good for papa, we're nearly done"
I searched threw the bag and pulled out a spare long sleeve white oneise with Sesame Street on it
"Thank be for your silly daddy making me overpack"
Wren stopped his wails at the sight of the familiar characters and I dressed him up without much fuss.
"Now that wasn't so hard was it bubba?"
I picked wren back up and he reclaimed his spot on my shoulder. I cleaned down the table with a wipe and binned it before washing my hands and leaving the bathroom.
I walked straight for my office but stopped in front of Stacy.
"See if you can get me a meeting with Mr ambrose, I'm aware he's busy but try get it asap"
I began walking away from her
"Will do sir, also.."
Is stopped and turned
"..cute kid"
Wren hid covered his head with blankie and I stated a simple thank you before actually going into my office.
I sat down at my desk, wren still covered up. I tried to pull it down but Wren kept a firm grip on it.
"Princess, we're in Papa's office now, it's just me and you, no one can get to you baby. So let me just pull this down-"
I removed blankie from wrens face and pulled it down.
"-so I can see my precious little princess"
I kissed wren's forehead and he fell forward, hugging my torso. I rubbed his back and leaned back in my chair.
"Wren, princess eyes on me please"
Wren lifted his head and rested the chin on my chest.
"I want to say I'm sorry wren, I know daycare was just awful today and I'm so sorry I sent you in. I know how you think bubba and I also know your probably blaming yourself"
Wren whimpered.
"You have no reason to blame yourself, it's Papa's fault, ok? I picked out that place thinking it would be wonderful for you but I was very wrong. That awful woman will never work with any child ever again after in done with her"
Wren started to tear up again
"Peas papa, don wanna talk bout it, don wanna think, scawy"
I wiped away wren's tears
"Ok baby we don't have to talk about it I'm sorry.. now that boy mentioned you being hungry-"
"Finn"
"Yes, finn. How's some lunch sound and I'll send Daddy a message, just so he knows what's going on"
"Oki papa, am hungy"
Wren turned so he was lying on his back. I pulled his lunchbox out of his bag. I unclipped it and took out a ham sandwich for him, wren pulled out his paci and scoffed it. I handed him another.
"Quick question bubba, why didn't you eat the breakfast they gave you?"
"Gwoss, tasted wike sawdus' an wook gwey an gwoopy"
I frowned, I had told the daycare before hand about wren's fledgling diet which they said they could accommodate. I also told them of his comfort items and panic attacks but everything seemed to have been ignored.
I grumbled to myself as I began texting Ricky an update to our 'situation', telling him not to be alarmed or worried, wren was ok now and we'd be coming home soon.
Ricky messaged back almost immediately with his regular amount of panic and I assured him again everything was ok and we'd be home in no time. Ricky however, was not home as he told me. He was out on the town shopping, having got brunch with Donna and Emma. He insisted on him coming to meet us at the office so we can all go home together, already had his friends agreed to drop him around.
Wren tried to look at my phone but scrunched up his face as he couldn't recognise anything, I cleared it up for him.
"I'm talking to Daddy"
Wren's face lit up he tried to reach out for the phone.
"Daddy! Hi Dada!"
I chuckled "Oh bubba it doesn't work like that, but I'll tell daddy you say hi. He'll be here soon"
Wren rested his back against me and did a little bounce, waving his hands about. "Yay! Dada hug too. W'en sandwich!"
I laughed and wren giggled as I texted Ricky exactly what wren had said. With Ricky thoroughly informed, I continued feeding wren.
I held apple slices up to wrens lips and gently nommed on them.
Sometimes his tiny bite would aim a little too high, leaving my fingers covered in slobber.
I wiped them playfully on wrens cheek and he half whined half giggled
"Gwoss Papa stop itt"
Wren squealed as I trailed my fingers all over his face, following as he tried to dodge. Finally I clasped onto his nose. Wren stared at me, eyes wide as I made a small pop sound and pulled my fingers off his nose and shoved my thumb between them. Wrens head turned, following my hand as I swayed it in front of him.
"Gotcha nose"
Wren jaw dropped, he tried grabbing it but my arm was too long for him. He whined.
"Give it backkkkkkk, Papa gimme"
"Hmmmm"
I held my hand under my chin in thought
"I think I'll keep it for myself, such a pretty nose"
Wren made a little growl sound, making me snicker.
Which soon evolved to laughter as Wren immediately launched at my hand, nearly making him fall off the chair before I caught him with my arm and spun him around to face me.
This didn't deter him as he tried for his nose again, which I stupidly held infront my chest. My laughter was cut short by the wind being knocked out me from a small boy diving straight into my chest.
I wheezed as wren took hold of my fist and tried to open it. I pulled it out of his grasp and high above my head, displeasing wren.
"Mine!"
"I don't see it on your face princess"
I teased. Wren looked me dead in the eye and began to climb, climb me that is.
Getting his footing on the arm rests, he chambered up my shoulder, kneeling on my neck. He did it so effortlessly even with stuffie still under his arm, it got me thinking again.
Fearing that he'd break my neck climbing any higher, I lowered my high hand.
"Fine, I relent, I'll give you back your adorable little button nose"
Wren clapped his hands and scooted around my shoulders, sliding down my neck. "Yay!"
I held the fist containing his nose in front of wren.
"Magic word first"
"Peas!"
"Good boy"
Making the same popping noise from earlier, i returned wren's schnoz to his face. Wren rejoiced, waving stuffie about and hooting.
"Bubba"
Wren, keeping a hand on his nose just to be sure, tilted his head at me.
"I wanted to ask about your climbin-"
I was cut off by Stacy opening my office door, making wren hide under my suit jacket and me forget what I was talking about. Stacy leaned on the doorframe.
"So news"
"Oh god what"
"Mr Ambrose is booked up for the month-"
I pinched my brow
"Of course he is"
"But, he heard you were looking for him, and he's agreed to see you in 15 minutes"
"What?! Ive got wren with me, my husband's on his way over, I can't work that"
"Well you said 'asap', and according to his secretary 'he moved a pretty important thing back' for you. I'm afraid we're trapped Mr Nightshade"
I took a deep breath.
"Alright I can handle this, Stacy give us a minute"
She nodded and left.
I gently pulled wren out of hiding.
"Bubba, Papa's going to have a quick meeting with his boss. And I'm sorry bubba but your gonna be here for it"
Wren shook his head and whimpered, clutching onto my shirt.
"I no wanna Papa, jus wan Papa an Dada"
I lifted him off my lap and hugged him close to me.
"It'll be so quick baby and then daddy will come in and we'll all go home"
I nuzzled wren's forehead, soothing him slightly
"Baby do you wanna stay in my lap or do you wanna sit on the couch there?"
I gestured to the 2 couches and coffee table but Wren quickly shook his head.
"Wan stay here"
"Ok bubba, now I don't want you listening to this meeting cause it could make you a bit upset so,"
I opened a drawer and pulled out a pair of earphones, sometimes I listen to music when I do my paperwork, helps me focus.
"You can watch something on my phone, how's that sound, some my little pony?"
Wren smiled at me and nodded. I plugged in the earphones and brought up an episode of mlp. I put the screen on lock so wren couldn't back out of it without realising and gave him the phone to hold. I gently put each bud in Wren's ears and he squeaked when I hit play, but dissolved into giggling at the show. When he suddenly sat up.
"Oh! Papa?"
I took out his ear buds.
"Yes bubba?"
"Can I has the chocky bar, weally wan-ed it Papa, peas"
He gave me the puppy eyes I can't deny and I grabbed the chocolate bar from his lunch box. I peeled the wrapper down but kept it on the bar, so wren had something to hold onto. I pulled out wren's pacifier.
"Now don't get too mucky princess or ill take back your nose"
Wren giggled and took the chocolate as I popped his earbuds back in.
"K papa"
He snuggled back up to my chest, gently biting the corner off the thin bar and getting absorbed back into his show.
I watched him, contemplating today's events as I lightly rubbed his back up until a message came through the phone on my desk from Stacy.
I like pictures taken in cars. Driving at night is kinda mysterious, an intimate thing - and what shall I say? Imagination's a wild thing, and there are stories hidden in your smiles.Instagram is so much more than a vanity thing. Sure, there are a lot of people out there, bloggers, starlets and so-called stars just promoting themselves, but there are also the lovers, the travelers, the real artists playing and inspiring with visuals and words, and so Instagram first of all things means worldwide traveling to me. Here's what I found on my travels there, I wanna share it with you!Title "Pictures In Cars" is inspired by a photo of wonderful hannahtaha.Cover photo © Hannah Taha Visuals belong 2 the artists and travelers.
