《Far Too Little (Age Regression)》33. Breakfast

I woke up early as usual. It wasn't anything specific that woke me up, just a regular early morning.

I looked at my sleeping husband next to me, Wren's stuffed elephant and blanket still in his arms. He's been asleep since yesterday. It's nothing to worry about, hypnosis drains him but it could never really hurt him. Years and years ago when I first met Ricky I dared him to hypnotise a group of people after he got cocky about his abilities.

He did, and immediately passed for a full week! He woke up completely fine afterwards, but I was left to explain to his parents why I was carrying their hibernating son to his room. As well as the distant sounds of a group of college kids howling like dogs.

Ricky explained to me it was a combination of him not being the strongest vampire (which I disputed vampire strength is a bullshit system) and the fact he can fall asleep scarily easy.

If its just one person, lethargic, early night and a late awakening. But any more and Ricky hibernates for anyone knows how long.

Ricky's a smart and decent person, he doesn't use it for petty stuff (anymore), more of a fight or flight response. I run my fingers through his hair and worry about what made him use it.

Deciding not to dwell too much, i got up. I doubted Ricky would be waking up within the next hour, so I decided to work from home today.

I gave Ricky's forehead a quick kiss before I called up the office, and informed them that I'd be working from home today. They were of course fine with it.

I entered the kitchen and started cleaning what I'd left future me to deal with last night.

I got dressed and watched some tv, not exactly hungry yet. I considered waking up wren but thought it was too early... until he decided to wake up himself.

A cry came from the nursery and I headed over. I found wren, sitting up, hugging his build-a-bear and crying around his pacifier.

He noticed me as I walked over, the pacifier dropping from his mouth as he yelled out

"Papa!"

I still get a little happy feeling everytime he calls me papa. I picked him up, bouncing him lightly and pacing.

"Oh my poor princess, what's got you all worked up?"

Wren sniffled, wiping his eyes with his little fists.

"No un dere, an-an-an sum-un ahways dere"

"Ok bubba, Papa's got you now, no more tears"

I gently hushed him, wiping away any remaining tears and kissing his forehead.

"Now I'm sure Papa's little princess isn't too comfy in that messy diadee"

Wren whined and covered his eyes, but nodded. So I layed him down the the changing table, assuring he had bearemy and the discarded pacifier.

I cooed, attempting to calm the squirmy worm beneath me. I undid the onesie's snaps and swiftly changed wren into a block print clean diaper.

Wren seemed a lot happier now that he was clean, giggling as i tickled his sides.

"My happy little bubba, feeling better now?"

Wren nodded, babbling nothing before his tummy rumbled.

"I suppose your a bit hungry huh bubba?"

Wren nodded again and held his hands out to be picked up. I obliged and carried him off to the kitchen. Wren sucked on his pacifier and looked around.

"Daddy s'ill seeping?"

"Yeah he is bubba, so that means you and me have to figure out breakfast. I'm assuming you don't want baby food again"

Wren whined and shook his head as I sat down at the kitchen table.

"No mush papa, no!"

Wren yelled and I shushed him gently, holding back a laugh.

"Ok ok bubba I hear you, no need to shout"

Wren mumbled a sorry and I rubbed his back, scanning the kitchen for an easy breakfast. My eyes landed on a carton of eggs.

Omelettes are easy, I can do an omelette. Scratch that, wren and I can do an omelette.

"Hmmm, we can handle an omelette, right bubba?"

"Y-yeah, Wrenny vewy smawt.... an Papa too!"

Wren quickly added and I chuckled.

"You're my clever little princess aren't you, Daddy's gonna be so proud when he wakes up. First a speed reader, now a master chef"

Wren smiled waving his arms around. He's been coming along so well with reading. He still gets frustrated and I had to deal with a little mini tantrum yesterday, l's I's and t's far too hard. But either way wren's got the alphabet song practically down and is kicking ass with his picture books.

If I keep this up, I can make Wren into my sweet little nerd baby. Ricky won't know before it's too late. Wrens a intellectual, I just know it

I snapped out of my thought to find wren having discarded his pacifier, sucking on his fingers. Absolute intellectual.

"Ah ah wren, don't suck your fingers, it's yucky"

Wren pouted as I pulled the fingers from his mouth and replaced them with the pacifier.

I cleaned Wren's hands and put him in his highchair. I then took out what we'd need for an omelette. Eggs, milk, butter and whatever else was in the fridge.

I put down a bowl on the high chairs tray and instructed wren to hold it. He did so and I got about cracking some eggs. I completely shattered the first one and wren giggled.

"Papa silly"

I chuckled and picked out most of the shell from the bowl.

I cracked the next 2 with alot better results, barely any shell. This is already going better than I thought it would.

Next we poured and mixed in the milk. I held the bowl while wren mixed. He did splash a bit out when he got too excited about the swirl he made.

I chopped up scallions and tomatoes and some leftover ham.

I enjoyed the sight of wren watching so intently (and cutely). The pacifier bobbing as his giant eyes stared curiously at me.

"Wrenny chop chop?"

"Sorry princess, too sharp for tiny little boys"

Wren pouted but letting him stir up the mix again fixed that right away.

I mentally readied myself for the actual frying. Wren clapping in encouragement as I poured the egg mix in the prepared pan.

It was a fairly big omelette. I poked at the partially cooked mound when suddenly a voice came from the kitchen door.

"Dear god it can't be, my darlings making breakfast and not a fire in sight"

I beamed once I saw Ricky leaning on the door frame, blanket over his shoulders and elephant hanging from his hand. My bigger baby.

"Daddy 'wake!"

Wren squealed and slapped his hands on the highchair tray table. He tried to get out of the highchair, grunting as he pulled at the harness.

I unclipped him and pulled him out into my arms.

"Hello my little darling, my sweet tiny dumpling, my-"

"Ahem"

I turned to look at david who stared expectantly. I whispered in Wren's ear and gently put him back in his highchair, gifting him back topsy (but not not blanket..... I was cold alright)

"One moment baby bear, papa need some love"

I snaked over to David and smashed my face into his chest. David wrapped his arms around me and hugged tight. He sighed contently, kissing my forehead.

"How are you feeling baby cakes?"

I giggled lazily at the nickname

"Tired enough to let you do all my chores"

David smirked and squeezed me

"Sit down, you're not lifting a finger today"

I smiled and briefly snuggled up slipping out of his grasp and sitting next to wren. He excitedly babbled at my presence.

"Now where was I... ah yes, my widdle baby bear, my precious angel, light of my life little boy"

Wren turned a little red as I showered him with more and more cute baby names. He whined and covered his face with his hands. "Stawp daddy"

"Aw I'm sorry baby, you're simply too cute, I can't help it

Wren huffed and pouted. David appeared next to him, serving up some omelette and a sippy cup of water.

"

Don't pout bubba, eat up but be careful its hot"

Wren stopped his pouting and drank from the sippy.

Next David placed a giant serving in front of me. I cocked my head at him. Did he really expect me to eat this much?

David threw my expectations out the window as he sat on the edge of my chair and pulled me onto his lap, sliding in, in my place.

"Not a finger"

David booped my nose with his finger at every word. I definitely wasn't complaining as I reclined against him. Watching wren out of the corner of my eye, he happily ate away with his hands, unfazed by Daddy and Papa's antics.

David kept one arm firmly around my waist as he interchanged feeding himself and feeding me. He peppered kisses on the back of my neck.

"Gotta make sure both my babies are happy"

He kissed my forehead and gave me another fork full. It wasn't half bad I'm going to be honest. Apart from the occasional pieces of eggshell that I'd pick out.

"So David... if you can now achieve cooking an omelette without burning the house down, then certainly I can drive myself to the shops and back"

David gave me a 'really?' look and I responded with my best smile.

"I'll think about it"

I was about to woop when I suddenly yawned, unaware of how actually tired I still was. David kissed me again.

"And you have to send kai a text, he's worried about you, also-"

He began whispering so wren wouldn't hear, even though I don't think wren would've listened.

"-you wanna talk about what happened, its ok if you don't"

I whispered back

"Later"

David rubbed my arm reassuringly and fed me the rest of the omelette.

"I finished!"

Wren exclaimed and we both praised him. David gave me one last kiss and squeeze before sliding out from under me and leaving me alone on the chair.

David began wiping wrens face and hands, when he turned to me.

"Go and get something ready to watch. We'll be in soon, with this little tykes baba"

I did as ordered and got all comfy on the couch. I lined up some spongebob episodes and soon David and wren joined me. Wren greedily sucked on his bottle. David cuddled up close to me.

I didn't turn on spongebob yet as wren wasn't too focused on anything right now. I just talked to David and watched my little boy.

"So how was the check up?"

"It went surprisingly well you know, he said were doing a great job everything seems fine. Wrens gaining the weight he needs, and no more night time meds-"

David whooped, which was appreciated.

"-but he said we might wanna socialise wren a bit more"

"So that means-"

"Yup, daycare. We have to start looking into it, all the leaflets are in the stroller"

I went to stand but David snaked an arm around me and kept me firmly in place.

"Sorry honey, but that's a tomorrow you thing to look in to. Today you are resting, probably taking a long nap later and hanging out with wren the rest of the time"

I sighed

"Sounds perfect"

Me and David went to kiss again but Davjd was pulled away by his hair. Wren had yanked with an angry whine. His bottle was long empty and he giggled once he had our attention.

"Bubba why did you pull my hair, it wasn't very nice"

Wren frowned

"Chus fowget bout wrenny, stawp kissins, its gwoss"

I tried desperately not to laugh as wren got himself all worked up. I pulled wren to my lap.

"Baby were very sorry for leaving you out, let me just me make up for it.

I covered wren in kisses, peppering them all over his face. Wren squealed at the tickley feeling and fell back to Papa's lap.

"Hey bubba, why don't we show daddy what we've been working on"

Wren nodded and bounced excitedly on David's lap.

He was passed to me while David slinked off to grab something. Wren started assuring me whatever I was about to see him do was really hard and he's sorry if he messes up. I awed and rocked him in a hug.

David soon returned with some taped together paper.

He sat down and revealed the paper to be an alphabet poster they must have made. All the letters were written out big and a drawing next to each one.

"I-i drewed it, Papa did da 'phabet"

My heart filled with happiness as I imagined the two of them working together to make this. Before I could praise him, wren continued on.

"An-an-an Papa tell me song da' makes it easier!"

"Did he now?"

"Ya! Papa sing wif me!"

David who had just been sitting there grinning as wren explained everything, agreed to sing. I leaned back and enjoyed the show.

"A, B, C, D-"

The two started unsteadily together, David went a bit faster than Wren but slowed down and helped him from letter to letter.

They both pointed at each letter as they sang it and my heart nearly exploded. Wren struggled a bit at 'lmno' but David kept him going.

"-Y an' Z"

Wren looked to me as they finished and I immediately started clapping and cheering.

"That was incredible baby bear! I'm so proud of you my little bat"

I crushed him in a bear hug. Wren squeaked out little giggles and David chuckled.

I leaned in to David and hissed in his ear

"Next milestone is mine!"

He hissed back

"I'd like to see you try"

We both got a quick yank on our hair from a giggling wren. Really should've seen that one coming.
