Wren whined in the stroller as we walked along the path
"Peas no daddy, I don wanna go docturs"
"Oh honey, it'll be ok"
Wren began to cry, he'd been fussy all day and it was all too much for him.
"Daddy peas no"
I stopped, plucking wren from the stroller and calming him down, wiping away any stray tears.
"Baby bear, you still have to go to the doctors-"
Wren let out a small wail and I bounced him gently, fixing his fluffy jumper.
"But it'll be ok, nothing bad will happen, I'll be sure of that. And don't you remember how nice the doctor was to you, he gave you a sticker, and it was a very nice sticker too"
"Dats cebause papa was there"
"Um... why do you say that baby boy?"
"Cuz people tink papa scawy so dey no do bad suff"
I ran my hands through Wren's hair.
"Ok first off baby bear, people do not think papa is scary-"
I slowly began transitioning Wren back into the stroller, he didn't even notice.
"Peepul doo! Si'urrs call papa scawy"
I tried not to laugh as I continued
"Ok baby bear, and secondly, I'll protect you. Nothing bads gonna happen baby"
Wren whimpered
"No vac-in-a-shon?"
I will not lie to you, wrens fear of vaccinations amused me, I mean now he's just scared of the shot itself, but originally being scared of 'the government's schemes to poison us all' was too damn funny to me.
When david first told me I literally laughed out loud. It isn't ok but I still find it quite funny.
"No baby, you shouldn't be getting any shots today. It's just a check up. We have to make sure my little tiny baby bat is all healthy"
I rubbed under wrens chin with my thumb. He pouted.
"Little bat, what do you wanna do later today?"
Wren hummed in thought.
"Teaparty wif daddy an all mah stuffies!"
I smiled at his cute little request.
"Well after your check up, Daddy's friend kai is gonna drive us home, and we can have a tea party with him! How's that sound"
Wren smiled
"Kai wike tea parties?"
"Oh he absolutely loves them. But we can't a tea party until after your check up little darling"
Wren whined and pouted.
"Fine daddy buh I wan thwee cookies!"
I bargained with my distracted baby boy, as I gently lowered and strapped him into his stroller.
"We'll see later baby bat"
I gave him his favourite 'poppy' fidget toy and we continued on.
It wasn't a very long walk, we could've walked back just fine but when kai offered to drive us back since he was in the area, I couldn't refuse.
We turned down a lane I always used as a shortcut. It was usually deserted but today two men were leaned up against the wall, smoking.
I internally groaned, smoking ain't cool. I payed them no mind as we walked by, until the bigger of the two wolf whistled
"Got a real nice ass there"
"Mmmmm love to take a bite outta that"
I tensed but sped on, not wanting wren to hear any more. The men yelled after.
"Hey where you going sweet cheeks?"
"Yeah we don't bite"
They laughed like it the funniest damn thing. I ignored it, not giving them the satisfaction of me looking back.
Wren whimpered.
"Daddy?"
As soon as we were back out onto the street I crouched down infront of wren's stroller.
"Yes baby?"
"Why dey say tat suff? No nice"
Wren started to tear up and I hushed him gently.
"Baby bear its ok, some people aren't nice, they're stupid and mean, pay them no mind baby, they just want attention. You're ok honey"
I kissed the top his head and wren quickly wrapped his little arms around my neck. Trapping me in place.
"Huggies"
He mumbled quietly and I chuckled, gently hugging back
"You want topsy little bat?
Wren nodded into my neck and I carefully prised wrens hands from my neck. Hastily grabbing topsy from the bag before Wren got upset. I handed him over and wren hugged her tight. I smiled and pet his hair, whispering softly.
"Best little boy"
Wren beamed and we rolled on, reaching the clinic. Wren sucks on his pacifier quickened as we stepped inside. I checked in and we waited for our name to be called.
I took wren out of his stroller and bounced him on my knee to calm him.
"My adorable brave baby, I love you so much little bat"
I hugged him tight and booped his nose. Wren giggled at little and I smiled, seeing he was relaxing somewhat.
That progress was sadly lost when wrens name was called. Wren hid over my shoulder as I carried him, one hand clinging to my neck, the other securely holding topsy.
I rubbed his back and we were greeted doctor Perry Eggleston.
"Ah Ricky, Wren, how's my favourite patient?"
I urged Wren to respond.
"Go on baby, it's ok"
Wren took a shakey breath and as little as possible towards doctor Eggleston.
"Am ok"
Perry kept light chat as we entered and sat down in his office, wren with his back firmly against my chest, elephant in arms.
"Well I heard a you got turned to a fledgling! That's so cool, would you be able to show me your fangs?"
Wren looked me for reassurance and rubbed his arm gently.
"Can you show Dr Eggleston your pretty fangs?"
Wren nodded a little before scrunching up his face and opening his mouth slightly, showing a bit of his small fangs.
"Ok, can i see a big, big smile Wren?"
Wren hesitated but smiled fully showing his fangs.
"Wow! They're coming along great, I assume he's been teething"
I answered his questions while gently comforting Wren.
"Yeah, but we've been using the toys and the fangs haven't been bothering him much as of late, it just occasionally"
"Well that's very good, it sounds like you're quite far into the turning process... Wren I'll grab my best sticker sheet for you to pick from, now would you mind sitting up on the table for me?"
Wren nodded meekly and I stood, sitting him down on the metal table.
I still held his hand knowing there'd be uproar if I let go. Perry turned back with his sheet of stickers.
"Ok wren you can pick one now and if you're super good during your checkup you can get another"
I gently squeezed wrens hand, to let him know it was ok. Wren picked an elephant sticker that said 'toot-rrific paitent'. Wren stuck it to topsy and I awed.
Perry began the check up, asking me questions throughout.
"This'll just feel a bit cold wren-"
He listened through the stethoscope on wrens chest and his back.
"-have you done any shape-shifting with him yet"
"No, not yet, we were planning on bringing him out somewhere secluded"
"That's a good idea, first bat changes can be stressful and it's best to be somewhere you wouldn't get a noise complaint"
I chuckled.
"Any signs of specific powers yet?"
"No, no signs so far"
"Thats alright, even if they're in there, powers can take awhile to manifest"
Wren nervously spoke
" ike mahilda"
The doctor looked at me confused but I cleared it up.
"Yeah baby bear, just like matilda. Good job, you're doing so good baby"
The praise really helped keep Wren calm as we continued on, ears checked, tongue depressed, etcetera. And the doctor continued his questioning.
"Powers in the parents?"
"Um, well yes I have hypnosis, but it's weak, practically useless"
I tried to laugh it off. I'd always been a little insecure about my strength as a vampire. It never really affected me, David more than makes up for the both of us. It just annoys me sometimes that I couldn't protect Wren 'as well' as he could.
"Hypnosis is a very strong power Ricky you shouldn't doubt it, and what about David?"
"Well he doesn't have any specific powers but he's just especially strong"
"Ok well which parent was Wren turned by?"
"He was bitten by David but he feeds off of both of us"
"Thats good, powers can be recesive but its really a gamble"
Perry motioned for me to bring Wren over to the scales. Wren cried and fussed on the scales as I had to stop holding his hand for a moment, but he was soon back in my arms.
"My best boy, so brave for daddy"
"You two can sit back down-"
I did, wren comfortably nestled in my lap, pleased the touching part was all over.
"So great news, nothing appears wrong, fangs are growing in well, no overt discomfort, wren is gaining weight which is fantastic, certainly not skin and bones any more."
Wren whined a little and I rubbed his back, hushing lightly.
"I dont reckon he'll be needing his nightly meds anymore, but if anything seems off come straight back"
I did a little whoop and bounced wren.
"Hear that little bat? No more pills!"
Wren smiled and clapped his hands a little. Dr Eggleston awed before continuing.
"Just one more thing, do you bring Wren out much?"
"Yes we take him the park, plenty of playdates but he doesn't really like too many people so we tend to keep to ourselves"
"Well it'd probably be a good idea to introduce him to more social situations, nothing big, maybe day care or play group. Get him used to that sort of thing, good fun for wren and more time on your hands"
I pondered
"He wouldn't be too young?"
"No, there's plenty of places that take kids even smaller than Wren, I can give you some recommendations, but even just the weekly or introducing him to more people can help with anxiousness"
He grabbed some pamphlets off a shelf and handed them to me, smiling kids decorated the covers.
"We'll look into it, thank you"
"Now I believe I owe someone another sticker"
Wren smiled a little as Perry brought out the sheet once more. This time the one chosen was shaped like a pink rosette.
"Baby do you know what that says? It says number 1 paitent"
Dr Eggleston chuckled
"How appropriate"
Wren beamed and stuck it to his t shirt. Another doctor visit survived, and without David this time. Everything's coming up Ricky.
Wren was very happy leaving the clinic. Two stickers this time, honestly I'd be just as happy. I should buy some stickers, maybe for wren, maybe for me.
I thought about the different stickers I could buy as I wheeled wren out of the car park and down the road. Kai texted me to say he was waiting on the other side of my trusty shortcut Lane. I don't blame him, parking was insane around here.
I absentmindedly hummed to myself as wren babbled behind his pacifier, messing around with his poppy toy. I had completely spaced on the fact anything could be wrong in the alley until...
"Well look who's back, it's sweet cheeks"
I cursed myself internally for coming this way.
"Can't get enough of us, can you darling"
The two men stepped closer as I attempted to once again walk past. The smaller of the two stepped in front of the stroller.
"Hold up baby, no hurry, we just want a good look at you"
Wren began to whimper and I felt rage bubbling in the back of my throat but I tried pushing it down. I calmly spoke, failing to hide my anger.
"Please get out of my way"
"OooOooo he's fiesty"
The man laughed and I gritted my teeth. I leaned over the stroller and pushed the man aside. I once again, tried to leave but Wren suddenly cried out. He uttered softly.
"Poppy"
I turned back and saw the rubber toy on the ground. I stepped over bent down to get it. Just as i grabbed the fidget toy, I felt a pair of hands grab my hips. I stood straight up and shoved the figure off me. The rage came right back, but I knew exactly what to do.
I blocked out their calls and laughs and let my mind go blank, closing my eyes for a brief moment and turning. I opened my eyes and saw red. I gripped the asshole who touched me's neck and spoke calmly.
"I suggest you fuck off and never bother me or my family again. You and your pathetic friend will never speak to me or my son or my husband ever, ever again. Do you understand me you disgusting excuse for a lifeform?"
Both his and his friends eyes glazed over and they nodded. I didn't mean to hypnotise them both but what's done is done. I let go, letting him fall to the ground. He suddenly snapped his head up in fear and grabbed his friend, fleeing from the alley.
I blinked away the red, when my vision was back to normal, that's when reality hit me. Wrens quiet whimpers, and the intense wave of tiredness hit me like a ton of bricks. I could've passed out right there.
I fell to my knees, groaning deeply and resisting the urge to curl up and hibernate. I shamble-crawled to wren's stroller, turning to face him.
I saw Wrens tear stained face, he shook and reached for me. I lifted my weak arm and gave him back his poppy toy. He just grabbed my hand.
"Daddy?"
"Dah-"
I yawned, slurring my words
"Dahdees ok, its alright baybey, just gonna shut my eyes-"
I heard a little yelp and a voice
"What the fuck happened?!?"
"Language... idiot"
I shakily stood up, facing Kai.
"Ayyyy kai kaiiiii"
Kai looked at me in disbelief, soon turning to worry.
"Dude are you ok? What happened and why did you use hypno-"
"Shshshsh kai, I'm just gonna take a quick nap, you won't even notice"
And with that I fell forward onto my friend, and letting my overwhelming tiredness consume me.
¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡
Daddy's very sleepy. I don't know what those meanies did to him but I bet I could make it better.
Uncle Kai got really scared when he saw me and daddy. Daddy was half asleep and laughing at nothing. He assured me everything was fine. I aggressively popped my rubber fidget toy, whimpering and whining.
"You're Daddy's just being very silly Wren. He um... needs a nap, just like you, so let's get you two home. You're daddy can take a nap, and I'll call your papa"
When uncle kai brought us both to his car I cried until he let me sit on Daddy's lap. He called papa in the car, I could hear his voice on the phone, sadly I was far too busy making sure daddy was ok to talk to papa.
Daddy hugged me like I was a stuffie. I giggled whenever his head slumped, he'd try to stay sitting up but he kept falling to the side. I snuggled up to his neck, lightly sucking my paci. I just enjoyed being in Daddy's arms.
Kai ended the phone call and pulled up outside our house. He got out and opened my side of the door.
"Ok kiddo, I'm gonna bring you in first, then I'm gonna try carry your daddy in. Can I pick you up?"
I nodded and made grabby hands. Kai picked me off Daddy's lap and took the keys from his pockets.
Kai carried me inside and pulled my padded play pen out of the corner.
"Alright you stay here for 5 minutes little man, ill go get your daddy"
Luckily I still had my comfort items for being left alone. I sat with topsy and watched as Kai struggled to carry daddy. Daddy was fast asleep and rag dolling. Kai eventually managed to get daddy on the couch.
"Dada ok?"
I asked worriedly. I pulled myself onto my feet, leaning on the mesh wall.
"Daddy's ok, he just tired himself our keeping you safe-"
I whimpered, this was my fault?
"-But he's perfectly fine and your papa will be home soon, is there anything you wanna do?..."
I smiled, remembering what daddy said earlier.
"Tea pawty?"
"Um.. sure, let's set up in here so we can keep an eye on your daddy. Where's your tea set?"
"Ih my woom"
Kai left to grab the stuff and soon returned with my set and my others stuffies.
"Figured these guys would want to join the party"
I babbled as kai lifted me out of the play pen and set up the tea party. I sat close to daddy just to be sure he's ok. He'd snort every few minutes and make me and Kai burst into giggles.
Daddy was right, kai was really good at tea parties. He did a funny fancy voice and called me 'an incredible host'. I dunno what that means but I'll ask papa later. He even let me have four cookies! He stopped me from grabbing a fifth. I whined in protest.
"Sorry little dude, but your daddies will have my head if I make you sick"
I huffed and sucked on my final cookie, savouring it. I made it last super long, I should do that with all my cookies.
Just as I finished my cup of imaginary tea the front door opened and in stepped Papa. I squealed and crawled over, stopping half way and reaching my hands out to him.
"Hey princess"
He threw me up in the air and caught me. He jumped when he finally noticed daddy on the couch.
"Why is he on the couch, he needs to be in bed"
"I can't carry him that far man, he's heavy"
Papa placed me on Daddy's chest and snapped his fingers in front of his face. Daddy was unfazed, snorting and grabbing me in his sleep. I squeaked and giggled and daddy rolled to the side and hugged like a stuffie again.
"He hasn't used hypnosis in ages, do you know what happened"
Papa squated, he seemed worried but smirked at my entrapment. He pushed hair out of daddy face and turned back to kai. Who was still eating cookies. Totally unfair, I only got four.
"Yeah, I was just waiting in the car saw these guys running out of the lane, you know the one"
"Yeah shortcut lane"
"Mhm, well I went in to see what was up, found wren and Ricky, little guy was all upset and Ricky just fell onto me, totally asleep"
Papa sighed
"Hmm ok, Kai you are dismissed, I've got it from here"
"Fine but make sure he texts me when he wakes up"
"Of course, say bye bye to uncle kai Wren"
I squeaked out a bye from Daddy's grasp. Kai left and Papa turned back to me.
"How about we get daddy here to bed hmm?"
I nodded and Papa slowed prised Daddy's hands off me. I was taken into Papa's arms only to be immediately put back down, an outrage really. I whined loudly.
"Princess I can't carry you both, I need you to be a good boy and stay here while I put daddy to bed"
"Oki Papa"
Papa leaned down, picking daddy up bridal style and carried him off to their bedroom. When I got a great idea. I took topsy and my blanket and toddled after Daddy and Papa.
I just caught Papa tucking daddy in when I waddled over and climbed up on the bed. Papa looked at me.
"Bubba what did I just say?"
"Nu papa I gota dada s'uff!"
I put my blankie on top of him and gave him topsy.
"Aw baby, you're too sweet"
Papa picked me up just as I kissed Daddy's forehead.
"I'm sure Daddy's gonna have the best sleep ever!"
I giggled, papa bouncing me then subsequently shushing me. I shushed back and we had a little shush fight. We eventually left daddy tucked in with the door cracked open. I insisted on it cause I don't want him to get scared.
"Now why don't we do some reading work huh? We can impress daddy when he wakes ups"
"Yay! Pies daddy! Pies daddy!"

One Piece: The Elder Twin
(Previously known as Being Luffy isn't Lucky) An utterly random person comes to their senses to find out that they're being dangled by their legs, not to mention that they feel some slight vertigo. Upon realisation, they discover that they've become... ahem, I mean they share a body with the one known as Monkey D. Luffy and they also have no idea who they are themselves! The one thing they do know? They used to be an absolute loner. (EDIT: So... a few months later and I come back to this and read like a few chapters. Only to realize the absolute rubbish the story and everything has become. There was many needlessly developed things that just waste chapters and don't even develop anything. The fiction's Mary Sue was horrendously developed. I'm just repeating myself to try and convey how terrible it developed... like seriously. IF I were to update the fiction again I would be thinking of improved concepts and ways to present everything which would contradict the entire way I previously presented everything.)
