《[I] Freedom {Klaus Mikaelson}》II. Crystal Blue Eyes

Emotionless blue eyes watched as teenagers drank and got high around the woods. Faith took a swing of her beer before smashing the glass bottle against a tree and walking away from the scene. She stumbled farther inside the woods.
She didn't care where she was going. She just felt disgusted by the party.
Faith could never know how it felt to be carefree. Not after Daniel Woods died. Her father.
Daniel died when Faith was only six years old in a car accident. Daniel and Circe weren't married when Faith's father died. They were divorced since Faith was three and Daniel had full custody of her. Faith never knew why the court didn't let her live with her mother until after her father died.
Circe Everly loathed Faith ever since she was a baby. Not only was she a siphoner but she took all of her late ex-husband's attention away from her. There were many times when Circe would act like she forgot where Faith was or would attempt to kill the toddler.
Faith studied her surroundings. She was on the Wickery bridge. Only Faith knew how many times she had jumped down the bridge as an attempt to escape from the world.
She climbed on top of the railing and stood on top of it. She stared down at the lake as the night sky was reflected in the calm water. Her black hair whipped around her as a cold breeze passed by.
The corner of Faith's lips tugged down.
In an instant, she whisked around to meet similar blue eyes to her own. The hood that covered her face fell off her head to show the many bruises and scratches that littered across her face. Her eyes narrowed at the vampire in front of her as her fingers were wrapped around his neck. The vampire's hand was wrapped around her neck as his blue eyes shined with amusement.
"That's cute," the vampire taunted. "A human thinks she can kill me."
Faith's lips pulled into a smirk. "But a witch can."
The vampire's smirk faltered. "Okay, fine. Let's leave this at a draw. Why don't you put down the hand before someone gets hurt?"
"I wasn't born yesterday," Faith retorted. "Damon Salvatore."
"You know who I am," Damon's eyes narrowed.
"The rest of Mystic Falls is oblivious about everything," Faith answered. "But I'm an Everly witch."
"That explains everything," Damon mumbled.
Faith sighed, lowering her hand and jumping off the railing onto the bridge. She began to make her way down the bridge in the direction of her home when Damon appeared in front of her with his typical smirk.
"Now where are we going, Everly witch?" He questioned.
"Home," she deadpanned before sidestepping around the vampire.
Damon grabbed hold on her wrist before she could take another step. "But what's the fun in that?"
Faith twisted her hand so she had her hand wrapped around Damon's arm. Her hand began to faintly glow a red color and blue-eyed vampire grunted in pain. He could feel himself become drained like the Everly witch was sucking the life force out of him.
"Fuck off," Faith seethed. Her crystal blue eyes glowed brightly with anger. Usually, she would play along for her amusement but tonight she wasn't feeling it. Not after her mother had done to her.
She let go of the vampire and used whatever magic she got from him to disappear from his sight. Damon watched as the young witch seemed to be covered by shadows until she vanished.

Faith rushed down a hallway before making a right turn. Worry swam around her stomach as she saw Matt Donovan standing right outside a hospital room.
"Matt," she gasped out once she stood next to him. His baby blue eyes met Faith's crystal blue eyes. Faith always noticed the difference in the color of their eyes.
Matt's eyes were a beautiful bright blue. The color you would see in a clear sky. Whereas Faith's eyes weren't completely blue. They were crystal blue. They had gray or white specks in her blue eyes. Faith always thought that her eye color showed how broken she really is.
She hated it.
"I just heard this morning," Faith cleared her throat as her eyes trained on Vicki sleeping on a hospital bed with a bandage on her neck. "What happened? Jeremy only told me she was attacked at the party."
Matt's eyes were also on his sister. "Police said it was an animal attack."
Faith frowned. She knew that wasn't the case. "An animal? Who only bit her on the neck? I'm sorry, Matt, but an animal would do a lot more than just bite her neck."
Matt glanced at her and sighed. "I know."
They stared worriedly at Vicki before Matt broke the silence. "You need a ride to school?"
Faith nodded, smiling politely. "Yeah, thanks."
"No problem," Matt said as he began to walk away from the room. Faith stayed behind for a moment longer as she studied the brunette with narrowed eyes. Her only true friend she had was attacked by a vampire. And there were only two that live here.
The Salvatore brothers.

"Jeremy!" Faith hissed his name as she got between the Gilbert and Tyler Lockwood. She had her hands on both boys' chest, stopping them from attacking each other.
"Walk away, Gilbert. It's your final warning," Tyler threatened.
"No, this is your final warning, dick," Jeremy seethed, towering over Faith. Even though Faith was older than him, Jeremy was taller than the Everly siphoner. "I'm sick of watching you play Vicki. If you hurt her one more time, I swear to God, I will kill you."
There was a moment of silence as everyone watched Jeremy walk away from the situation.
"Damn, that was like a death threat," Tyler broke the silence.
"Like you're any better, Lockwood," Faith glared at the taller boy. "At least Jeremy had the guts to care for Vicki, but you? You're cowering in your feet because of your father."
Tyler narrowed his eyes on Faith. "Hypocrite."
"Asshole mutt," she hissed back before walking away.

"Well, I was talking to Grams, and she said the comet is a sign of impending doom. The last time it passed over Mystic Falls, there was lots of death. So much blood and carnage, it created a bed of paranormal activity," Bonnie explained as her, Elena, Caroline, and Faith went through pamphlets for the comet.
"Yeah, and then you poured Grams another shot and she told you about the aliens," Caroline retorted before looking at Elena. "So then what?"
Elena shrugged. "So then nothing."
"You and Stefan talked all night? There was no sloppy first kiss or touchy-feely of any kind?" The blonde questioned.
"Nope," Elena shook her head. "We didn't go there."
Faith ran a hand through her raven-colored hair in annoyance as she lazily looked through the pamphlets in front of her. Faith always thought of Caroline as a neurotic and overbearing blonde. Always thought of Elena as a competition. Faith never understood how the blonde thought, making Faith dislike her.

Her eyes trailed off to the Town Square and her expression hardened at the sight of the black-haired vampire in a leather jacket. She watched as Damon smirked at her before disappearing from her sight. Her attention was brought back to the three teenage girls when Elena suddenly stood up, pulling her bag over her shoulder.
"What are you doing?" Faith questioned, confused as to why she was standing.
"Caroline's right. It is easy. If I sit here long enough, I'll end up talking myself out of it instead of doing what I started the day saying what I was going to do," the brunette explained as her brown eyes connected with the siphoner's. "And Faith, you're coming with me."
"What?" Faith blurted out. She was actually surprised by her statement. "Why?"
She didn't have time to react as Caroline and Bonnie began to pull her up from her chair and placed her bag and jacket into her hands.
"You're better at flirting than all of us," Elena stated as she hooked her arm around Faith so the raven-haired girl wouldn't escape. "You can give me some advice."
"Thanks?" Faith said, but it ended up sounding like a question as she was dragged against her will.
The siphoner was still confused as to what happened while the three teenage girls were talking to make sad, depressing Elena to make this decision.

"Hey, Matt," Faith answered her phone as Elena parked her car in front of the Salvatore Boarding House. "Did something happen to Vicki?"
Elena glanced at Faith at the tone she was using. In all the years Elena had been friends with her, Faith wasn't the type to worry over people. She would joke around, but everyone thought that as her coping mechanism at least that's what they thought. Hearing Faith sound worry made Elena think how much they really knew about the crystal blue-eyed girl.
"She's awake?" Faith let out a sigh of relief as she followed Elena to the front door of the boarding house. "Yeah, I'll see her tomorrow. I'm kind of busy right now. Okay, bye."
"Since when were you friends with Vicki?" Elena questioned as she rang the bell.
Faith brushed her hair back with her hand. "We started hanging out during the summer."
"She's a drug addict," Elena retorted as she waited for someone to open the door. "She's the one who got Jer into drugs."
"I'm pretty sure Jeremy did that himself," Faith snapped back, her tone underlined defensively and with annoyance.
Before Elena could speak, the door creaked open. She called out to Stefan but got no response as she began to make her way inside.
"What the hell are you doing?" Faith whisper-yelled and the brunette glanced back at her. "I'm pretty sure this is breaking and entering."
The siphoner let out a sigh of frustration as Elena continued inside the house, completely ignoring her. Faith rolled her eyes as she stepped backward to leave, but stopped when she sensed a vampire inside the building. And it wasn't Stefan.
She scowled at herself. Why the hell did she care what happened to Elena? Faith's mother wasn't in Mystic Falls. She went on her usual business trip to Louisiana and wouldn't come back in a month at least. Circe wasn't looking at her every move so why should she save the dumb and depressed brunette?
"Faith!"
The siphoner groaned at the sound of the terrified yell of Elena before stepping inside the house.
"What?" She asked, bluntly with a raised eyebrow at the brunette.
"You didn't see the crow?" She asked before turning her back at the siphoner. Elena gasped at the sight of Damon Salvatore standing close to her. Faith's eyes narrowed on the vampire as she crossed her arms on guard.
"Sorry for barging in.." the brunette turned around to point at the now-closed door behind Faith. "....the door was open."
Damon feigned confusion. "You must be Elena. I'm Damon, Stefan's brother."
The corner of Faith's lips tugged downward as she decided to ignore their conversation. She was soon brought back when Damon said her name.
"Faith, come in," Damon looked at her with a smile, but Faith saw the mischief in his blue eyes. Silently, the siphoner followed Elena and Damon into the living room.
"How do you know each other?" Elena glanced at the two.
"We bumped into each other yesterday in the hospital," Faith lied, smoothly. "During school when I got sick. He was flirting with the nurse that was taking care of me."
"What can I say?" Damon's and Faith's eyes were fixed on each other as Damon followed Faith's lie. "She was a very pretty nurse. Couldn't help myself."
Damon broke their eye contact to peer at Elena. "I see why my brother's so smitten. It's about time. For a while there, I never thought he'd get over the last one. Nearly destroyed him."
"The last one?"
An amused smile appeared on Faith's lips as she listened to the vampire lying to Elena about Katherine Pierce. Of course, Faith knew about the Salvatore brothers' history. The Everly witches have been alive since the beginning of vampires and wrote down every piece of history related to the witches. There were dozens of books filled with information that Circe made Faith remember ever since Faith was able to read.
"Hello, Stefan," Damon announced as his eyes remained on Elena.
Both teen girls turned around to see Stefan Salvatore standing in the doorway of the living room with a hard gaze on his brother. Faith could feel the atmosphere in the living room immediately go tense as the two brothers looked at each other. Her crystal blue eyes shined with amusement at the brothers.
"Elena, Faith," Stefan spoke with his eyes trained on Damon. "I didn't know the two of you were coming over."
Elena moved toward Stefan with a smile on her face. "I know. I should've called, I just-"
"Oh, don't be silly," Damon interrupted. "They're welcome anytime, aren't they, Stefan?" Before he could get a response from his brother, Damon turned his attention toward Elena. "I should break out the family photo albums or some home movies. But...I have to warn you, he wasn't always such a looker."
Stefan glanced at Faith, almost like he was pleading her to get Elena out of here. Faith mentally sighed, also wanted to leave and plastering a fake smile on her face, hooking her arm around Elena's. "Actually, we have to get things ready for the comet that's passing over Mystic falls, tomorrow tonight. You should come, it could be fun if you're into that kind of nerd stuff."
"Right," Elena hesitantly agreed before turning to Damon. "It was nice to meet you, Damon."
"Great meeting you, too, Elena," Damon grabbed Elena's hand and kissed the back of it before turning to Faith.
"You're not kissing my hand," The siphoner rejected the vampire, "but I'll see you around, I guess." Faith pulled Elena out of the house before the black-haired vampire could say something else that could keep the two teenage girls from leaving the boarding house.

Dominion Expansion (a 4X LitRPG)
Clay is one of the world's top players of 4X games, a genre where the goal is to eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate. He's also one of the only players in the world to so stubbornly stick to the one city strategy, a favorite tactic of his that involves only ever using a single city or planet depending on the game's setting. All that matters to him is winning with his favorite strategy, but earning the respect of his fellow players for taking a sub-optimal strategy to its highest level has always been a nice bonus. And now it is because of his skill and entertaining determination that he has been chosen to represent a higher realm in a strategy game where the fate of Earth and dozens of other worlds are at stake. To the victor goes the spoils, and the spoils include entire worlds and billions of lives. That's how he ends up representing the ascended realm of Hell in a grand "game" between an entire pantheon of godly beings and other higher powers. But while it may just be a game to those overseeing it, it is a genuine war for survival to those participating in it where billions of real lives will go to the victor of whoever wins, and many will die before the game is over. Quick Author's Notes: System inspired by Civilization, Endless Legend, Stellaris, and Crusader Kings 2. Combat mechanics inspired by the Total War series. Slow-paced with many long-term plans. Protagonist has a personality heavily inspired by Ron Swanson. Know who that is and love him? You should like Clay. Know who Ron Swanson is and hate him? You'll probably hate Clay. Planning on writing every single day (turn). Days with important things happening will have the system/game mechanics be the priority of the chapter. Days where there isn't really anything important happening will be more slice-of-life and focused on character interactions. Designed a dice-based randomized map generator to create the world as the story goes on, so I don't even know myself exactly what's going to happen as a lot is dependent on world generation. Tech tree with hundreds of technologies already designed. There is a "harem," but it's not the main focus, the girls won't be cardboard cutouts, and I'm not going to completely forget about any previous women in the relationship whenever a new one comes along. One last thing. The "game" starts off with primitive technology level. The current plan is for the "endgame" tech level to be equivilent to WW2-era technology. After that and war just gets boring until you end up in space. Cover is temporary and made from royalty-free stock images while waiting for the real cover's commission to finish.

The Flame in the Forge (A Slice of Life Isekai LitRPG)
Thrown into a world he doesn’t recognise, Niall Vendra has to adapt, learn and fight to survive. Physically, emotionally, personally. If Niall wants to save his family, then the man he was needs to transform. Surrounded by Minotaurs, Fae and Magic, Niall will have to reinvent himself as both a warrior and an artisan. Growth won’t be fast and it won’t be easy, but with patience and hard work, Niall can earn the Skills, Abilities and Classes to battle his way to the top. The Flame In The Forge is a LitRPG Isekai/Portal fantasy. You should expect slice of life with conflict and an overarching mystery to be solved. Niall will be both a crafter (primarily, but not exclusively, as a blacksmith) and a fighter. There won’t be a harem. But don't worry, there will be both flames and forges! I should be clear that while this is very much LitRPG, it's story led and I have tried to make it feel believable. So, for example, the first blue box doesn't appear until chapter 6. I hope that the payoff is worth it. Compared to some LitRPGs you may find the pace rather gentle at times. There will be some periods where it feels like Niall is eking out every level and others when, for good reasons, he makes a significant leap. My goal though is to give you a satisfying story, so that dictates when and how Niall's stats and skills change. I can reassure you that I fully intend for Niall to become immensely powerful, but I want you to feel like he has earned every level in a realistic way.

At The Lions Gate
In the 20th century America reinvented itself. Devastated by depression, scarred by war, rocked by a revolution, Americans banded together to preserve their country and their freedom. They had faith in themselves, faith in one another, and for those who believed…faith in God. This novel tells the story of one American who lived through those turbulent years….years that would test his character and the character of a nation. For Josh Sanders it begins in 1935. A star athlete in school, pro football is a ticket out of poverty during the Great Depression; but when his father, a WWI veteran, is killed during a robbery, Josh’s spirit is broken, and with it his boyhood dream. To honor his father Josh joins the war effort in 1942, distinguishing himself as a fighter pilot, until a fateful decision near the end of the war changes the course of his life once again. But many years later, after a stint as a boxer and a failed marriage, Josh finds his calling…at a time when the country is at war with itself. The year is 1968. King and Kennedy have been killed, race riots are breaking out, and Vietnam has become an albatross, causing massive protests across the country. In the streets of San Francisco Josh watches a crowd of students march for peace. As a veteran he’s conflicted, toward the war and those who oppose it. But when he encounters Rosy Goldin, a spirited young protester in need of help, a voice from the past calls him to action. His good intentions are soon tested when Rosy falls in love with the fugitive anti-war activist Erick White, a young man determined to oppose the war at all costs, against the wishes of his own father. Fearful of what happens to Rosy, Josh confronts Erick, unwilling to be part of his plan to escape…until he meets the boy’s father. A high-powered criminal attorney, Karl White is also a flag-waving patriot demanding that his son follow the law. But as White makes his case Josh is jolted by a painful war-time memory, a crisis of conscience that will soon determine the fate of Rosy Goldin and Erick White.
