《The Universe In Us》Chapter 10: Invincible Infinity

6 years later.

Blair Walorf(-Bass, since a few years now) woke up with the familiar crying of her baby boy, laying in the new crib Serena had given her when she gave birth to her little angel. It was so true what she had heard about giving birth and seeing your baby for the first time. 23 hours of labor, in so much pain were quikly forgotten when she held Henry Bass. It was the most beautiful child she had ever seen, pure perfection. She had cried happy tears when he had looked up at his mother and opened his eyes. They were a deep brown colour, just like his father's eyes. She knew in that moment that she would do anything to protect her baby and his father at all costs. She would rather die than seeing them hurt. The happiness and joy that Henry had brought her and Chuck, was so intense and so beautiful. Nothing had been so perfect in her life before. She had married the love of her life, had an amazing career as fashion designer and she was a mom. Blair Waldorf, a mom. Of Chuck Basses child. Sometimes it made her laugh and smile at the same time. If you would have told her this 10 years ago, she would have thought you were crazy. She often thought about life at Constance, what happened at prom, the hurt and problems she had needed to go through all those years ago.. It was worth every single part of it. And she would do it all again if she needed to. Just to have this perfect life she was living right now.

She opened her eyes and sighed. She loved her baby more than anything, except Chuck ofcourse, but he cried so much! And he was hungry 24/7! She felt so tired of getting up each 2-3 hours. She just wished she could sleep once through the whole night without being woken by her son. She was just ready to sit up when she felt a hand on her shoulder, pushing her down on the bed again. She smiled lightly when she heard her husband speak.

"I'll go. You should rest." Chuck sat up himself and got out of the bed. He yawned and put on the shirt that Blair almost had ripped off him last night. Serena and Dan had taken care of Henry so Blair and Chuck could be alone for a few hours. They had eaten in her favourite restaurant and after that, they had gone home to do the thing they both desired. The love-making was still mind-blowing awesome, even after all those years.

Chuck returned with his 6 months-old son laying in his arms, still crying.

"Hey baby, it's okay. Daddy's here." Chuck looked adoringly down at his son and kissed his forehead. Blair watched them closely. This was her favourite thing to do. Well after making love and shopping ofcourse. Chuck had turned into such a softie when Henry was born. He was always so careful and worried about him. Blair watched them, proud of the two men in her life.

"Are you a little bit hungry?" The little boy made a little noise inbetween his cries and he touched Chuck's chin with his little fingers. C smiled and looked at Blair, only to see that she had fallen asleep again.

"Come on baby, let's go to the kitchen". The brown curls and the porcelain skin the little boy got from his mother seemed to light up in the early, so fresh sunlight that shone right into the kitchen.

When Henry became 5 years old, he started to ask some questions about his parents. He knew that his mother and father were famous on the Upper East Side. Suddenly, when Blair was talking to her husband about Serena's upcoming wedding with Dan, Henry stopped playing with his train he got from Nate a few days ago. He interrupted the conversation, even when he knew his mother often told him that he couldn't do that.

"Mommy? When did you and daddy meet?" Blair looked suprised at her son.

"Henry, we've told you so many times. You can't just interrupt a conversation mommy and daddy are having." Chuck spoke, always calmly to his son, while playing with his wife's hair. When Henry was born, he made a promise to himself never to shout or yell at his son. He didn't want to be his father. Blair once's told him he was becoming a man in a way his father never was. He had had a hard time to believe that, but he still did.

"I'm sorry daddy... But when did you?" Henry spoke, eager to know the answer to his question. Blair and Chuck shared a look and smiled at their son.

"Well, actually.. Mommy and daddy had been friends for a long time. Mommy didn't like daddy that much before mommy turned sixteen years old." Blair smiled, recalling the memory of she and Chuck in the limo. Chuck grinned at her when he heard Henry ask:

"Why when you were 16? Why not before?" Henry had jumped onto the couch and had laid himself inbetween his mother's and father's body.

"Well.. Daddy was kinda weird before and he didn't care that much about me". Blair said with a sad face. Chuck laughed and replied:

"That's not true. I may have been a little weird, but I cared a lot about mommy, more than she will ever know." Blair turned her head to look at him and smiled at him.

"When mommy turned 16, daddy and me went dancing and-" Blair was cut of by her husband.

"Mommy was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen and she was never the same again after that night". Blair playfully poked her husband, whispering him to stop. Chuck laughed and Henry replied:

"Why not daddy?" Silence suddenly filled the room and Chuck stared lovingly in Blair's eyes.

"That's the night I fell in love with mommy. And she stole my heart from that moment." Blair blushed and Henry turned to look at his parents.

"Will I fall in love with someone too mommy?" Blair put her arms protectivly around Henry.

"I'm sure about that, little prince. Just don't wait 2 years to say 'i love you' to your princess okay?" Chuck rolled his eyes and scooted closer to his wife and son. Blair grinned when Chuck kissed her cheek and whispered an apology in her ear. After a few minutes of silence, Henry said something, so little, but so important.

"I love you both, mommy and daddy".

"We love you too honey". Chuck kissed his son's head again before turning to his wife. Blair kissed him quikly but passionately on his lips. This is what she had fought for. This is how fate was supposed to go.

Later that night, Blair was standing in the shower and quietly singing to herself. Chuck had gone to an appointement to upgrade the Empire a little. She still loved the Empire even though the house she bought with Chuck when they turned 22 was now their home. Suddenly, out of nothing, she felt to hands on her back. She let out a little scream, shocked. Chuck just laughed and stepped into the shower with her.

"You scared me..." She turned and looked at his face. His eyes roamed over her body and she smiled. She still felt selfconscious about her body, especially after she had given birth to Henry. She wasn't the super fit, super slim girl anymore. He had said many times that she was still the most beautiful woman, just like he had said the day after she went up to meet him at the Empire State Building.

"How did your meeting go?" She turned her back to him and he took the expensive shampoo that was laying on the showerground. He started to wash her hair, carefully ofcourse.

"Well, Bass Industries plans to renovate the whole building, so I'm happy with that." After shampooing her hair, he pushed the start button on the shower and water started to flow over them. She turned again to look at him.

"That's great, honey". He gave her the 'don't call me that-look' and she laughed, kissing him under the shower. "You know... I thought about what you said this afternoon. About liking me, even before Victrola". He smiled and cupped her cheeks into his hands.

"You really thought that I never noticed you until then? You are so wrong. I even once got in a fight with Nate because I had told him you were beautiful". Blair grinned against his chest and looked up.

"I don't want to know what would have happened if Nate had shown up at the party. I never would have gone to Victrola by myself and I never would have danced and-" Blair was cut off by her husband's kiss on her neck.

"We are inevitable. Even if Nate had shown up, the universe would still have found a way to bring us together. He turned the water off and reached out to take a towel. She just smiled and agreed. "That's what love does, right?"

She took the towel and stepped out the shower, looking in the mirror at herself. The broken, fragile girl she once was, had become the powerful, strong woman. He admired her from a distance, looking at her never-ageing beauty. She let the towel slip and walked seductivly to her husband.

"Are you sure?" He asked quietly, just as he had done 12 years prior in the limo.

She didn't need to answer.

Always.
