《Once Bitten, Twice Shy》-Chapter Nine-

"What are you doing here?" I ask a bit tersely, not particularly pleased to see him again, especially since he's interrupted my otherwise perfect day by being here at all.

"Viola...I need to talk to you...please?" He murmurs, his tone pleading. I narrow my eyes irritably.

Oh, so now he wants to talk?

"Then talk." I reply, pulling the towel off my head before crossing my arms over my chest. Jacques's eyes dart to my irritated wolf that's standing just behind me, a low growl rumbling in his chest, before darting back to me.

"Privately?" He asks, and I huff.

"Anything you plan on saying to me, you can say in front of my Beloved." I answer tersely, and his eyes widen in shock.

"Beloved?" He says with disbelief, his eyes flicking back to Tyron and lingering on the mark on his shoulder, the sight of the curling vine of violets seeming to irritate him immensely.

"Yes, my Beloved." I repeat, and I feel Tyron's arm curl around my waist, his hand resting on my hip.

He asks through our mind link, his wolf growling internally.

I reply. I had told Ty the entire story about Jacques the day after I marked him, and it's only made him despise my ex even more so. But I never expected to see him again, or wanted to for that matter.

"So go ahead Jacques, speak...and make it quick." I continue, and he hesitates.

"I really would like this to be a private conversation Viola...please?" He asks again, and I sigh. It's obvious he's not going to leave until he talks to me, and if having a private conversation with him gets him back out of my life faster, than so be it.

"Fine...Mon Chou, could you go inside please? I promise I'll join you shortly." I ask my beloved as I turn to face him and cup his cheek, and he hesitates for a moment before sighing.

I assure through our link, and he chuckles internally before pressing a lingering kiss to my forehead.

"Alright Darlin, but don't take too long." He answers out loud, turning to give an unfriendly glare to Jacques.

"I don't plan on it." I reply as he enters the house and closes the door behind him, and the second Ty is out of sight I turn to give Jacques a pointed look.

"We're alone, now speak."

"Really Viola? A new mate? You trying to replace me already?" He mutters, and I fight back a hiss at his attitude.

"Considering you replaced me before we even split up, you can't say a damn thing." I fire back, and he visibly flinches. Good. "Now what do you want?" I ask again, and he sighs.

"I...I came here to apologize."

As surprised as I am by his words, I keep my expression blank.

"Go on then." I reply, and he falters in his attempt.

"I was an idiot...Genevieve strung me along and made me forget what was important, I'm sorry Viola."

That's it? He broke my heart in two after everything I gave him, and all he has for me is this cheaply worded apology?

"Fine, now that you've apologized you can leave." I answer, and he stares at me in shock.

"You forgive me?"

"Yes, because as a vampire I have too long of a life to spend it hating you, I've got better things to do with all that energy than hold a grudge." I answer. My dad always told me that holding a grudge was like letting someone you despise live rent free in your head, and I refuse to do that.

"Viola..." He murmurs, and I scowl as he tries to embrace me. Apparently he's mistaken my forgiveness for something else, and I hold a hand out in front of me to halt him in his tracks.

"I said I forgive you, I didn't say anything about us being together again...I certainly didn't imply it." I state, and his eyes flicker with surprise and irritation.

"You honestly rather be with that mutt?" He spits out, and my anger flares to the point my fangs descend with an audible flick.

"His name is Beta Tyron to you, don't disrespect my Beloved." I hiss, and he steps back at my hostile reply. "And yes, I would rather be with him."

"Why? He's a werewolf, why would you want to be with a werewolf instead of another vampire?" He questions.

"Species isn't the most important thing. He loves me, cherishes me, that's what counts."

"Loves you? He hasn't even marked you yet, which more than likely means you haven't completed the mating process either, am I right?" He sneers, and my blood boils.

"That is none of your damn business, and has nothing to do with his feelings for me!" I snarl.

"Oh please Viola, after you turned me we marked and mated immediately."

"Maybe that's exactly what went wrong with us, Connard! Considering after I gave you everything you wanted, you ditched me for the next pretty vampire that crossed your path!" I fire back, "Besides, our relationship is completely different. The only reason he hasn't marked me yet is because he respects me enough to let it be my decision! My mate-"

"Mate? Really? You honestly expect me to believe the Goddess actually paired you with that mongrel?" He interrupts, and my palms itch with the urge to slap him, and I curl them into tight fists to resist the urge to do so.

If he keeps this up, I really will break his nose.

"What did I tell you about disrespecting him? You call him that once more and I will throw you out of the pack land so hard your ancestors will feel it when you finally hit the ground." I growl, and he snaps his mouth shut.

"And for your information, He is my second chance mate. Despite what you seem to think of me, I would never stoop to dating someone just to spite you. Whether you believe it or not, I honestly don't care at this point."

"Viola-"

"Lets cut this crap short, what are you really here for? Certainly you didn't come all this way and tracked me down just to give me some half assed apology, did you?" I interrupt, and he sighs. As I stare at his face I finally notice the bags underneath his gray eyes that are darker than normal, the slight paleness to his complexion...

You have got to be kidding me...

"I see exactly what's going on now." I murmur irritably, and his expression becomes one of shock.

"You've been feeding off of Genevieve, but you're slowly realizing that it's not enough. No matter how much you feed, no matter how much you take...it's barely enough. Your body is rejecting it, which means you're weakening." I say, the cruel irony would make me chuckle if I wasn't so pissed...if I didn't know why that brings him here.

"I-" He starts, but he stops as he sees my hardened glare.

"So you came here with the delusion that after a half assed apology, I would allow you to feed off of me." I continue, my fists shaking. "You honestly believe that after the way you hurt me, I would let you use me like that?"

"Please Viola, you're my mate, I-"

"No, I'm not. You rejected me, remember? You lost that privilege the moment you cast me aside!" I point out, "And I would never betray Tyron like that!"

"What does he have to do with this? He's not even a vampire!" He argues, and I hiss. Does he know nothing?

"He's still my mate! After meeting them, feeding is something mates only do with each other! Feeding is equivalent to intimacy for vampires, allowing you to feed off of me would be equivalent to cheating on him! And unlike you, I would never betray my mate!" My body shakes with fury, he of all people should understand that!

"You have to! What else am I suppose to do?" He begs, and I clench my teeth so tightly they could probably bite through steel right now.

"What every other single vampire does, hunt or get your hands on donated blood. I am no longer responsible for you Jacques, I don't have to do anything for you." I answer, and he has the nerve to looked offended.

What did I ever see in this pompous asshole? He's a selfish, rude, entitled little child.

"Leave. Now. We're done here." I state, feeling drained.

"Vi-"

"I said leave! Marked or not, I'm still the mate of this packs Beta, and as the future Beta Female I am making it clear that you are not welcome here!" I raise my voice, noticing the slight tone of authority in it.

"But-"

"Get out of my pack land! Now! And don't you ever come here again!" I order, and he flits off the porch. He pauses to look at me once more, and after a second of meeting my hardened glare he hangs his head and disappears into the trees.

After he's out of sight, I let out a heavy sigh. Anger still flows through my body, leaving me with exposed fangs. I need to calm back down, before I break something. So I turn and head inside, my wet shoes making loud squeaks as I stride across the wood floors, making my way to the upstairs bedroom...only to halt in my tracks when I see Tyron emerge from the kitchen.

His concerned expression deepens as he sees me, and when he quietly opens up his arms to me in an invitation, I immediately flit to him and bury my face into his bare chest. Inhaling his scent, feeling his warmth as his arms wrap around me, and listening to the sound of his breathing and steady heartbeat seems to help my anger subside immensely...as well as feeling his fingers comb through my damp hair, reminding me of how I did the same thing with the fur of his wolf.

"Better now Darlin?" He murmurs in my ear after a few minutes, pressing soft kisses to my temple.

"Much, thank you Mon Chou." I sigh, tracing the tribal wolf tattoo inked on his bicep.

"No need love, I enjoy making you happy." He chuckles, and I smile as an idea comes to mind, reminding me of what I originally planned to ask him before we were so rudely interrupted.

"You know what would really make me happy Mon Amour?" I whisper as I run a finger over his slightly parted lips, and I smile with satisfaction as his eyes darken and I hear him purr.

"What would that be love?" He asks, his voice becoming a bit husky, and I stretch up a bit to bring my lips to his ear.

"I want you to mark me, right here, right now." I whisper, and his body shivers at the feeling of my cool breath on his warm skin.

"Are-Are you sure? This isn't because-"

I press a finger to his lips to silence him, looking him dead in the eyes.

"This has nothing to do with him, I've wanted this since I marked you...I want to be even closer to you Tyron." I reassure, and as I see his doubt disappear I remove my finger, and the second I do his lips collide with mine. His purrs seeming to drown out every other noise, I close my eyes and lose myself in the kiss, not even realizing we're moving until my back is suddenly pressed against the wall.

I sigh as he begins to trail slowly down the line of my jaw, then my neck, his mouth and tongue leaving me warm and tingly everywhere he touches. As his hands slide up and down my sides, I gasp as he finally reaches the curve of my shoulder, and knot my fingers in his hair as he proceeds to nip there playfully.

"Tyron..." I murmur, and he chuckles.

"Patience Darlin, I want to do this right."

After pressing a few more teasing kisses there, I hear his canines flick out.

"This will only hurt for a moment love." He warns, and I go from wincing at the feeling of his sharp teeth piercing my skin...to gasping as the pleasure washes through my entire body, making me arch against him.

"Dear Goddess..."

His low growl in response to that sends another flood of warmth through me, and I begin to feel a little limp as our mind link strengthens and my connection to the pack comes to life. Thankfully, Ty keeps me upright by pulling me closer to his chest, and after another moment he retracts his teeth and cleans the wound gently with his tongue.

"Mine." He purrs as he presses a kiss to the healed spot, and I sigh in absolute content as I rest my head on his chest.

"All yours."
