《Road Trip! [Kagehina]》Chapter 7

"Nishinoya-Senpai, that's so cool!" Hinata exclaimed loudly, eyes shining wide with excitement, fists clenched. "It is, isn't it! What do you think, Asahi-San?" Nishinoya asked with a pleased smile. He had just recited a 'mega-awesome' story about a close save during a tough volleyball match, and Hinata couldn't get enough of it. Ennoshita and Tanaka were holding in laughter. The truth to the story was much more entertaining and slightly less magnificent on Noya's part, but they didn't want to shatter a poor first year's dreams about his senpai. The entire team were laughing inwardly, but still listening intently to the small libero. Spread out around the circular dining table, each of their chosen breakfast meals were placed neatly in front of them, and they were about to eat when Nishinoya had started his rather long-winded story. The hotel restaurant was a posh-looking place with seemingly delicious food. Or at least, it smelt really good. This would be their last meal at the hotel, as they would be moving on to a new spot tonight.
Asahi nodded with a genuine smile, "It sounds like you did a great job," He ruffled Noya's hair, making Kageyama flinch a little and dart his eyes away. "Ruffle mine too, ruffle mine, Asahi-san!" Hinata enthused, receiving Asahi's gentle pat-on-the-head. It was very reminiscent to the dream Kageyama had had, and he couldn't bare to remember it. The thought of Hinata and him being friends seemed so distant and long ago, it was hard to believe that it happened only yesterday. And yet, it seemed to the both of them like an entire decade had gone past. The two of them, drawn together like magnets, couldn't stop thinking about it.
Halfway through the meal, after the table split into smaller discussions, Tanaka asked Daichi in his rather loud voice, "So Daichi, where's our next stop?" The rest of the team was also intrigued, and turned their heads towards Daichi. Conversation simmered down. "Now, now, we thought it should be surprise!" Suga interrupted, waving dismissively. "Please, don't bother with that. Just continue eating!"
"I'll bet they don't even know, they're probably just winging it," Tsukkishima laughed, and Yamaguchi laugheg gently with him.
An hour later, Karasuno had packed their bags and checked out of the hotel, filing into a new coach. This one was slightly smaller, black and shiny from a recent car-wash. This coach would be taking them only most of the way to their next destination, and then the group would have to walk for fourty minutes to get to the next town. Hinata frowned as he remembered he would have to sit with Kageyama again, but found a solution. As Kageyama took his seat by the window, at the back, Hinata chose to sit on the other side. There were three empty seats between the two first years, both looking out their windows. If either were to let their eyes wander, it would only lead to them meeting.

The drive was long, and Hinata couldn't get the idea of being snuggled up with Kageyama again underneath a blanket out of his head. The sweet thoughts swarmed his mind, though he knew he would have to get over Kageyama sooner or later. "Hmpf," Hinata sighed, a hand under his chin as he watched the scenery begin to whiz past his window. "What's wrong, Hinata?" Sugawara asked softly, he had come over to check on the two, surprised to see them separated. He hoped, deep down, that this wouldn't last long. Daichi had told him what Kageyama had said yesterday, and Sugawara glanced over quickly with a concerned expression, before looking back at Hinata. He sat next to the small boy, his hands together in between his legs. "I don't know.." Hinata shrugged, sulking a little, but with Sugawara's persistent eyes he gave in. He pulled Sugawara closer and talked quietly, not wanting Kageyama to hear. "Kageyama and I had a fight, yesterday morning. I wasn't entirely sure what was going on, but he said all these... Horrible things to me. And I can't bear to speak to him. It'll only make it hurt more," Sugawara took note of the last line, hiding a smile. He patted Hinata on the head, receiving an upset expression from Hinata. "Hey, hey, listen, it's okay. I'm sure there was a reason Kageyama said those things. Did anything seem off about him? Is there something, perhaps, he wanted to tell you?" Sugawara stood up, and walked away with a wink, resuming his spot by his loveable Daichi. Hinata thought about Sugawara's stressed words for a while, but came to no conclusion. Sure, Kageyama had been talking about Hinata in a romantic way, but he had snatched those feelings back so viciously Hinata wondered if he had heard incorrectly.
Meanwhile, Kageyama was trying to think about other things, better things. Something better to think about. But his raven-like hair was tilted to a side as he leant against the window, slipping between the fabrics of concious and unconsciousness. Each short dream was something about Hinata, either his smile, his effortless jump, his figure or his easy and charming attitude. Kageyama woke up after each one getting more and more restless, angry at himself for letting the situation get so out-of-hand. "Damn.." He muttered, making Hinata turn his head slightly, pause, and then turn back. Usually, Hinata would have asked what was wrong. But in their situation, that wouldn't be happening any time soon. Kageyama almost longed to tell Hinata he was sorry. Part of him was mad at Hinata, and that part shone brightly. The part of him that was mad was a cover up to keep himself sheltered from his true feelings showing. While the more reasonable, apologetic parts hid away, fearing rejection. His deep thoughts and hazy expression were interrupted by the coach halting, and Daichi standing up. "Okay, every one ! Bring your tents, we're camping here for the night," Some grumbled in response while other's bounced up, enthusiastic to camp out with the team. Kageyama grabbed his large bag, slinging it over his shoulder. He retrieved his tent from the coach boot, remembering something he had promised Hinata a while ago.

"You'll let me share your tent with you, right, Kageyama? I don't have one of my own, so.." The fiery haired boy had asked, smiling up at him. It was the adorkable smile that could bring Kageyama to his knees as it was so cute. He blushed slightly but nodded, trying to downplay it. "Hmm, sure, I guess," But Hinata still looked a bit discouraged, and Kageyama held out his pinky with a sigh. "Here, I pinky-promise," Hinata laughed, but wrapped his finger around the taller boy's and shook it gently. "Pinky-promise!" Hinata had muttered it with a smile occasionally the rest of the way home.
There was no way Kageyama would back down from his promise, even though they were in an argument. Hinata had looked so excited about it, after all. And as Kageyama set his tent out, Hinata helped him put it up in a deathly silence, granting several odd looks between the team. Nobody but Sugawara and Daichi had a vague idea of what was going on. "O-okay, let's start a fire," Daichi stuttered a little, almost as shocked as the rest of Karasuno. See, the funny thing was, Sugawara and Daichi had been trying to mentor Kageyama and Hinata a little. Since the argument, the two third year's had been discussing their new-found information with one another, in hopes to find ways to bring the two back together. They both had a massive intuition that it had something romantic involved based on the evidence provided, but chose not to mention it. "Well, at least they've done something together," Daichi whispered while collecting sticks from the ground with Sugawara and Asahi. Asahi was oblivious to the other two's mutterings, instead focusing on collecting dry sticks. The area they had chosen was surrounded by a small circle of forest. You could see the coach as it left in between the trees if you looked hard enough, but even then that was only in a small clearing. However, Suga had spotted the central spot that they were in now, with an empty area above them to stargaze in. It was right by the sea, as they were near a cliff, having scurried across a motor way that wrapped around the shore. The dark blue sky was lit up by shining stars, and as the large camp fire was started a warm glow hovered around them. Various tents surrounded the fire, but Karasuno were sat on the floor around it, telling stories. The smell of the sand and a salty ocean far outweighed the small scent of smoke. "And then... He hit it all the way down, right past all those blockers, it was amazing!" Nishinoya, Ennoshita and Tanaka exclaimed loudly, praising Daichi for his "ultimate save" from the previous year. Daichi laughed along with the other two third years, who patted him on the back playfully. "Well, Daichi's not our captain for no reason, you know," Asahi grinned, but then Sugawara interrupted, "Say, how did we elect you as Captain, 'chii?" Daichi turned and shrugged, thinking hard, "Ah! I remember! It was all when-" But Kageyama had zoned out, unintentionally staring at Hinata. His gaze usually wandered to wherever the orange blob appeared. He enjoyed the small things, like Hinata's cute and excitable reaction to what people were saying. How his expression change ever-so dramatically.
Moments later he received a nudge from the person next to him, glancing over, it appeared to be Sugawara. Sugawara was sitting next to him? That was strange. To Kageyama, Sugawara's voice had seemed so far away. He mumbled quietly, "Listen, I don't know how you feel about Hinata. But, to me, it sounds like you appreciate him a lot. So just staring at him isn't going to fix the problem, right? Think of something, and it. I'll bet Hinata wants it to work out as much as you," Suga then leaned back against Daichi, acting as if nothing had ever happened. The casualness of his voice and tone, and then leaning back so naturally put Kageyama in awe. This guy was smooth. Meanwhile, Kageyama was sat, thinking deeply about a solution to his problem.

Lost In Translation
If you're one to travel the roads, you may have heard of me. You may have heard my Names in the stories, the songs, and the whispers of the road. Perhaps you've even seen me during my travels, speaking to a bird of blue light, or on a city street, performing small acts for coin and repute. Or perhaps you may know me as the Skystrider, who walked with the wind. Or the Voiceless, a man of song without speech. You may know me as the Tutor, who taught the Lion of Summer how to fight, or the Traveler, who has walked all the roads of the earth. I am all of these things. And people have branded me a myth. But people don't understand what a myth is. They haven't heard the songs lost to our tongues, nor have they seen the things I've seen. They haven't gone to the places I've gone. My feet have walked the plains, the seas, and the clouds. I have spoken languages unspoken; tongues lost to time. I have sung to the earth, held the moon in my arms, and walked the roads that your heroes hesitate to even mention. I have outwitted Demons. I have danced with the Fae. My songs have been heard by lords of wind and ash, and my steps have echoed in the bellies of gargantuan beasts the likes of which you have never seen. These are what real myths are. And me? I'm no legend. I'm just the bard stupid enough to poke the real ones with a stick. Discord link here. The Last Marshal
Weird West Fantasy Noir Once the Republic Marshals brought order to the chaotic lands along the Frontier, facing dangers both human and supernatural with ancient wisdom and a six-gun —but that was a long time ago. Destroyed by conspiracy and betrayal, all that remains of that secretive order is one nameless man on a trek though the West seeking revenge on the woman he blames for the Marshals' fall and his disgrace. When a visitor from our world joins him on his journey, they together must confront the horrors of a strange land, the mysteries of the past and the real meaning of their quest for justice. The world of Tellus is what 19th Century Earth would have looked like if the stories of Poe, Ambrose Bierce, Lovecraft and William Hope Hodgeson were real. History in this world moves slower. The old faiths persist and civilization never conquered the dark corners of the map, at least not without being inextricably changed. Technology and culture takes a little longer to evolve in this land, as people here tend to spend more time pursuing their elaborate revenge plots or trying to avoid being the next sacrifice to the Outer Gods rather than advancing science or statecraft. Imagine Cormac McCarthy by way of Edgar Rice Burroughs, though a little less testosterone-drenched than that description would imply. Three caveats: First, there are deep mysteries here, including how such a world came to be and who controls it. Second, this world is not wholly unconnected from our own. There is a historical point of divergence, but in the distant past. To paraphrase Twain: history in this world is not a repeat of our own, but it does often rhyme. And finally, this is not a setting that lends itself to happy endings.
