《Field Trip || DNF》Chapter 9

"Welcome to your last day of class for this school year you guys!" Dream smiled at his students, which all had the same excited glow on their faces.
"Today we're just gonna rest easy, okay? But first, you guys have to go clean out your lockers," Dream explained, and some people groaned.
"I know you guys hate it, but you gotta do it, so go on," Dream motioned at the door and his students made their way to their lockers.
He smiled again, the last few months had been rough without talking to George, but he finally felt content, and his feelings for the brunette had finally faded–just like he said they would.
George only spoke to him when necessary(and vice-versa), and Dream didn't mind it anymore.
A lot of things have changed, and I'm okay with that, Dream thought.
Besides, between streaming, teaching, spending time with some old friends and family, he wouldn't have had the time for a relationship.
"Knock knock," Sapnap said jokingly, entering Dream's classroom.
"What's up?" Dream nodded to the raven haired man. He shrugged, "nothing, just wanted to see how you were doing, it's always emotional to send kids off to the next grade."
"It is," Dream murmured, "but I'm holding up for now. I'll start sobbing at the end of the day though."
"Heh, I stopped by George's room and I could tell he was trying not to cry," Sapnap laughed and Dream joined in.
"At least we get to teach new kids next year," Dream smiled at the thought, and Sapnap nodded, "definitely looking forward to that."
"It'll be great."

"Dream hurry up! The fireworks are starting at 10!" Sapnap yelled as Dream rushed down the stairs, "okay, okay, jeez calm yourself."
"Well sorry, but it's fireworks," Sapnap giggled, "fireworks Dream."
"Yeah, yeah I get it, come on," Dream snatched his keys off his counter and went outside, locking the front door after Sapnap.

They both got into the car and Dream started it up, pulling out of the driveway.
"So, do we need to make any stops on our way to the park?" Dream asked and Sapnap nodded, "we need to stop at Karl's and pick up him and Quackity."
"Oh I didn't know Quackity was at Karl's," Dream replied, surprised. Sapnap nodded, "they had a sleepover."
Dream giggled, and coughed to cover it, "okay then."
"Adults can have sleepovers Dream!" Sapnap crossed his arms, pretending to be angry.
"Mhmmmm sure, okay," Dream held back another laugh.
After about 10 minutes of driving, they got to Karl's place, where the two friends were waiting outside.
Dream pulled the car to a stop, opening his window, "get in!"
Karl and Quackity both got into the car, buckling their seatbelts.
Dream pulled away from Karl's house and began driving towards the park.
"Hey um... Dream?" Sapnap was looking at his phone.
"Yeah, what's up?" Dream asked. Sapnap typed something and then looked at the blonde, "is it possible we could pick up George?"
"Oh..." Dream's voice faltered, and then he cleared his throat, "yeah, I don't see why not."
Sapnap looked at him like he was being weird. "Are you okay Dream?" Karl asked, and Quackity added, "yeah you don't look so good."
"What's his address again?" Dream ignored them, he was desperate to take the attention away from himself.
"You know his address dude..." Sapnap blinked, and Dream cleared his throat again, "right haha just kidding...."
Dream pulled up to George's apartment, and he was sitting on the steps outside. The brunette's face lit up as he saw the familiar car and ran over to them.
He knocked on Sapnap's window, so the raven haired man opened his window, "what do you want?"
"Go sit in the middle in the back seat, I wanna sit up front," George said.

"No, you go sit back there," Sapnap crossed his arms.
George smirked, and then glanced pleadingly at Karl.
"Sapnap you don't wanna sit next to me?" Karl pouted, and Quackity put in, "and me!" and Sapnap glared at George, "how dare you." But he unbuckled his seat belt, getting out of the car.
George got into the front seat, while Sapnap sat in between Karl and Quackity.
"Alright, let's go," Dream pulled away from George's apartment and finally headed towards the park.
————
"Come on, we can sit right here," Sapnap spread the blanket out on a free space, and Karl and Quackity sat on either side of Sapnap, leaving Dream and George to sit beside each other.
"Sapnap they have popcorn and cotton candy!" Karl gasped at the little food station. Sapnap smiled, "let's go get some, come on!"
"I'm coming too," Quackity declared, and the three got up and walked to the food station, leaving Dream and George alone.
"So..." Dream trailed off, George was intently staring at the grass, trying to ignore Dream.
"How has your summer been so far?" Dream asked. "It's been fine," George replied.
"That's good," Dream smiled.
What's he doing? I said no talking, George thought angrily. I miss him though...
"Miss who?" Dream raised an eyebrow, and George slapped a hand over his mouth, and then slowly took it away, "d-did I say that out loud...?"
"Uh... yeah..." Dream answered sheepishly.
"I was just um..." George searched for a reply, but he just closed his mouth, not knowing what to say.
"We're back," Karl dragged out the second word. Sapnap was holding two big bags of popcorn, while Karl was holding a cotton candy bag. All three boys were covered in glow stick bracelets and necklaces.
"How much did you spend on glow sticks?" Dream laughed, and Sapnap put the popcorn bags down, sitting down, "over 50 dollars, but it was so worth it."
Karl took off a bracelet after sitting down and tossed it to Dream, who caught it. "George, gimme your wrist."
"W-what?" George stuttered as Dream grabbed the brunette's wrist, putting the blue glowing bracelet on the man.
"Simp," Karl sang and Dream playfully glared at him.
"Five minutes until fireworks guys," Sapnap showed them the time excitedly.
"Ay, pass me some popcorn," Quackity demanded and Sapnap gave him some.
Suddenly a big bang went off in the sky, and everyone looked up. The fireworks were starting.
George sighed, he couldn't really see the supposed pretty colours of the fireworks, and just focused on the bracelet.
He glanced at Dream, who's eyes sparkled while watching the fireworks.
He's so adorable... George then panicked, looking around making sure he didn't say that out loud, and thankfully he didn't.
The brunette shivered, and he was regretting asking to come along, it was kind of cold and he hadn't brought a sweater. He rubbed his arms, still shivering.
Dream glanced at George, and then took off his sweater, giving it to the brunette. George hesitated and then grabbed it, slipping it on.
The blonde tilted his head a little, and then moved closer to George, to where they were almost touching.
George yawned, holding his arms around his body like he was cuddling himself, looking up at the fireworks.
"You don't have to like... cuddle yourself you know..." Dream whispered in his ear and George gazed at him, raising a eyebrow.
Dream put his legs out, and then pulled George over, sitting him between his legs, making sure not to accidentally hurt him.
Dream wrapped his arms around the brunette, and rested his chin on George's shoulder, looking back up at the fireworks.
George was blushing madly at this point, trying to keep his eyes on the fireworks, but every once in a while he glanced at the blonde's pretty face.
What are we doing...

To The Far Shore
Post apocalyptic Oregon Trail. The apocalypse has come and gone. And come back again, and left again... nobody really knows how often. Nothing lasts forever, but nothing is ever completely gone. Which is a shame for young Mazelton, as his family has been around a terribly long time, and made an astonishing amount of enemies. Millenia's worth. So he has to run- from mobs, cannibals, soldiers, sailors, cholera, cattle, thieving sales-monks, starvation, mechanical horrors, vengeful spirits, negotiating your own marriage, and poison of every sort. Fortunately, his not terribly nice family has trained him well in the arts of core polishing. Or as you and I might know it- turning radioactive pellets into useful tools. And weapons. Updates Monday-Wednesday-Friday. Usual defensive tags applied. The goal isn't exactly family friendly, but you have probably seen worse on network TV. After the watershed. Not full blown HBO, let's say. This is the first novel I am sharing publicly, so feedback is very much appreciated and encouraged. Act 1 of the novel is completed, but do please let me know what works, what doesn't, and what you would like to see more of. Thank you, and Enjoy!
