《Field Trip || DNF》Chapter 3

"Hey, Karl?" Dream poked his head into the empty classroom. Well, all empty except for Karl himself.
"Oh hi! What can I do for you?" Karl smiled.
"Can you watch over my class for me?" Dream begged. Karl nodded, "sure! I have nothing better to do."
As they walked back to Dream's classroom, Dream could feel some passing students gazes on him. It was like he was in middle school again, when that stupid rumour went around about him. Dream shook his head slightly, not wanting to remember it.
As they turned into the math hall, Sapnap and George came into view. George was obviously still distraught, and Sapnap was trying his best to comfort the man. They stopped in front of the duo.
"Hi Mr. Jacobs!" Sapnap smiled when he saw the teacher. Karl waved at the gym teacher.
"I love your outfit," Sapnap was looking at the teacher's purple hoodie.
"Thank you!" Karl giggled.
"Excuse me, this is a serious situation! Stop flirting with him and ask him out already!" George snarked. Sapnap's jaw slacked and Karl slapped his hand over his mouth, obviously trying to not laugh.
"Sapnap you can stay here, we'll just go." Dream took George's hand and started to drag the brunette away from the pair. George shook his hand off and glared at Dream.
"No need to be rude," Dream was a little hurt at George's action.
"No need to be rude," George mocked him, "yes, well, my career may be ending, so I'm not very happy about that."
"I'm sorry." Dream sighed, not knowing what else to say.
George's facial expressions were cold as he replied, "I love my job. You know that. The whole damn school knows that."
Dream opened his mouth, but then wisely chose not to speak.
George continued, "I promised myself I wouldn't let someone come in the middle of my passion, and I did. I should've never risked my job for you."

Dream stopped walking, "what...?"
George stopped as well, and turned towards the blonde.
"You heard me! If I don't lose my job, we are never going to speak again Dream, unless for work, assuming you don't lose your job. I... don't love you enough to risk it again." George raised his head slightly, and then spun around beginning to walk again. "Come on."
Dream walked slowly behind the brunette.
"Did... Did you love me enough to risk it the first time?" George stopped first this time, turning around slowly to face him.
"No. Everything I felt, everything we did, it was a mistake." George's bottom lip trembled. "I assumed you felt the same as me!" Dream's voice raised a little.
"Keep it down Dream!" George hissed, "I never felt the same way."
"It didn't seem that way when you were moaning my name in my ear," Dream's voice was even louder now, he was obviously angry, and George knew he had a right to be, but he was attracting unwanted attention.
"Dream, calm down..." George pleaded, "we can sort this out quietly."
"Don't tell me to calm down George, you... you lied to me!"
Now there was a crowd of students and teachers around them.
"Uh, Mr. NotFound, Mr. WasTaken, maybe we could go into my office-" Ms. Niki said softly, but George yelled over her, "I didn't lie to you! I never loved you. What don't you get?"
"You did lie to me then! You told me you loved me!" Tears were streaming out of Dream's eyes now. George's expression was still cold, but his eyes betrayed his true emotions. Dream was too upset to notice though.
"But I don't." George scoffed.
"Excuse me, what the hell is going on here?" Eret pushed through a crowd of students.
Dream was full on sobbing into his hands now, while George's cold expression was breaking down.

"Ms. Niki... would you...?" Eret gestured to the students. She nodded and started to usher the students back into their classes.
"Let's go." Eret motioned for the teachers to follow him, and they did.
When they entered Eret's office, he motioned for them to sit down.
George moved his chair farther away from Dreams, and then sat down.
"Now tell me that two of my best teachers are not fighting for everyone to see? You guys are supposed to be role models!" Eret stared intensely at them.
Neither of them answered, but it was pretty much a rhetorical question anyways.
Eret continued, "I was calling a meeting to give you guys a bigger paycheque, but clearly there's other teachers more deserving. My God, I should not be lecturing you two like you're students right now! It's embarrassing."
"Wait so you weren't going to strip us of our jobs?" George stared at the principal.
"I wasn't, but now I might. I can't have this happen George. You know this." Eret responded. George hung his head, he did know that. He knew that all too well.
"Just... fire me. Let George keep his job, please, but fire me." Dream muttered. Eret looked at the weeping teacher in surprise.
"I... Dream..." Eret stuttered. Dream stood up, "if you don't then I'm quitting anyways."
"Very well, George you may keep your position, Dream... you're.... fired." Eret searched the blondes eyes, but they betrayed nothing.
"I'll clean out everything, and be gone by 5pm tonight." Dream walked out of the office.
Did I really just do that? Dream thought, but it was to save George's job.
As he found his way back to his classroom, he saw Karl wiping the board.
"Oh hey! So, the bell rung ten minutes ago... Wait you know that. Sorry, uh, I was just cleaning this for you." Karl continued to wipe the board.
"Wipe it clean please," he muttered and Karl gave him a questioning look, but obeyed.
He dialled the announcement number, and then spoke into the phone, his voice ringing through the school, "Mr. Boo to room 145, I repeat, Mr. Boo to room 145 please."
Mr. Boo came to his room 5 minutes later, "Mr. WasTaken, what do you need?"
Dream looked at his stuff, and then turned to the tall man, "two boxes please."
Mr. Boo looked surprised, but headed on his way to fetch the teacher his request.
"Oh, are you cleaning up your classroom?" Karl asked. Dream shook his head, "no, I was fired."
"Oh... Dream... I'm so sorry." Karl was sympathetic.
"No, don't be." Dream replied as Mr. Boo returned with two boxes, "luckily enough, I caught Mr. Quackity carrying these to the recycling bin!" He handed him the boxes.
"Can I... um... Ask what you need them for?" Mr. Boo asked hesitantly.
Dream grunted as he shoved his belongings into one of the boxes. Karl whispered, "he was fired."
"Oh, my condolences," Mr. Boo frowned, "I'll miss you, you were a great role model, and I aspire to be as great as a teacher as you were."
Dream smiled a little at that, and murmured, "thank you, Mr. Boo."
After he was done packing, he carried the boxes to his car, with the help of Karl.
"Aren't you going to tell Sapnap?" Karl asked, placing the box in Dream's back seat.
"No, you tell him," Dream got into his car, starting it up.
"Good bye Karl." He waved to the man, who waved back.
As he left the parking lot, he couldn't help but wonder what George was doing right now.
