《Field Trip || DNF》Chapter 2

"I'm sorry, what?" Dream asked in surprise, Micah shrugged, "well there's just a rumour going around that y'all have been... doing it in the janitors closet."
"Who told you this?" Dream looked around at his students, and they all were clearly wondering the same thing as Micah.
"Well no one told me directly," Micah replied. Joshua nodded his head, "Jessica told Kelly, who told Fiona, who told Jake, who told me, who told Ethan, who told-"
Dream's eyes widened. He thought Jessica had believed his and George's lie. It was all too much for the teacher to handle.
"Okay, okay. Enough." Dream snapped, "it's my personal business to be quite honest, and you guys should not be listening to rumours."
"He's right," Mr. Boo stood in the doorframe, a stack of papers in his hands, "rumours won't get you very far in life, they'll only cause trouble."
"Thank you, Mr. Boo," Dream clenched his jaw.
"Oh, uh, anyways, here you go," the young teacher assistant held out a few papers out of the stack for Dream.
Dream swiftly walked over and grabbed them, reading the top of the first paper.
"Oh, well why didn't they just announce it?" Dream looked up at Mr. Boo. He shrugged, "I heard it's only for certain teachers."
"Isn't that a rumour?" Ethan called out and Mr. Boo laughed, "well, you're not wrong. Anyways, I must be leaving." Dream walked over to his desk and placed the papers on it, turning his gaze to his class.
"Any real questions this time?"
————
"Mr. NotFound, um..." The teacher turned around, Beth, one of his students, was standing behind him.
"The bell already rung, shouldn't you be getting to your next class?" George raised an eyebrow.

"Yes, well... there's a rumour going around... that um..." Beth pursed her lips.
George was not one to listen to silly rumours, and he turned around, rolling his eyes, "Beth, I do not listen to rumours or gossip around this school, and neither should you." He looked at his lesson plan in his hand, and began writing on the whiteboard with the other.
"That's all very well, but people are saying-" Beth continued, and George turned back around, "I simply do not care what people are saying, so please, if you do not have a question for this class, move along. I have a lesson to plan, and I cannot do that with you pestering me about some silly rumour."
Beth backed away nodding, "I'm sorry." She ran out of the classroom.
"Yikes, a little harsh dude." Sapnap was standing in his doorway.
"I didn't mean for it to be, but you know I hate rumours and such." George capped his marker and put it on the ledge, and then hung his papers on the whiteboard with a magnet.
"Yeah well, students and staff think you and Dream are uh..." Sapnap did some sort of whistle, and George knew what it indicated immediately.
"Oh God no, why would anyone think-" George's face suddenly went pale. Sapnap crossed his arms, "what?"
"Jessica... she saw me and Dream walk out of the janitors closet," George felt sick. This is the exact thing he didn't want to happen, but Dream kept insisting that they met in the janitors closet.
"Well, maybe you guys should've waited till after school?" Sapnap fake coughed.
"Oh! Perfect timing, here you go!" Mr. Boo handed Sapnap the same papers he had handed Dream earlier.
"A staff meeting? Why didn't they just-" Mr. Boo cut Sapnap, "I checked with Principal Eret, it's a private meeting with few staff members."

"Oh," Sapnap's eyes scanned the papers.
"And you also were invited, Mr. NotFound," Mr. Boo handed George the last of the papers in his hands. George ran his hand through his short brown hair.
"Do you happen to know what this is about?" George looked up at the tall young man, who shook his head, "I wish I knew. I do get to go to the meeting, so that's good."
George looked back down at the papers, scanning them for any type of information about the meeting.
"Mr. Boo, are you busy at this moment? Or for the next thirty some-what minutes?" George placed the papers on the desk behind him as the assistant responded, "no, I don't think so."
"Great, mind writing those lessons on the board? They're colour coded by which marker you should use."
"You're literally colour blind Georgie, why did you colour coded things?" Sapnap giggled. George threw a whiteboard marker at him and he caught it.
Near the bottom of it, there was masking tape wrapped around it, with a little star drawn in black marker on it.
"Ooo, nice," Sapnap dragged out the word, before tossing the marker back to him. He set it on the ledge, "come on, we're going to room 145."
"You can just say your boyfriend's classroom you know," Sapnap smirked and George slapped his shoulder and walked faster. The raven haired man giggled before speeding up to catch up with his companion.
————
Dream was silently looking at the papers Mr. Boo had handed him twenty minutes ago. It was odd such a exclusive staff meeting was called.
Someone cleared their throat, very loudly, and Dream looked up. George was peeking into his classroom, Sapnap giggling behind him.
He swiftly got up and walked over to the door, exiting his classroom, and closing the door behind him. "What's up?"
George snatched the papers from Sapnap's hands, and shoved them in Dream's chest.
He looked at them. The same staff meeting papers.
"Yeah, I got those too, it's so weird how-" Dream gave them back to Sapnap.
"Don't you understand? It's about us!" George cried, "we're gonna lose our jobs!"
"What why?" Dream suddenly was panicked.
"Dude, everyone thinks y'all had sex in the janitors closet." Sapnap gestured to them.
"Oh..." Dream said softly. If it was one thing Dream knew best about George, it was that he loved his job more than anything.
George had told him that himself.
"Teaching young minds the history of our world is something I will never get over," George had said, "it's so... captivating?"
Dream smiled, "I understand what you mean."
"Dream I cannot lose my job." George had tears flowing down his cheeks now.
Dream searched his eyes, they were pleading, and they said something else.
Not again. Please.
"Let's go find Principal Eret."

Millenia ago, humanity faced a catastrophe. Some devastating, catastrophic event that even to this day leaves its impact on humankind and the Earth. The Favoured, immortal mages of immense power vie for territory and power in the Fabric. Umbra a naive ward of the Duke is almost Grown and that means she will need to take an apprenticeship. But Umbra isn't the hero everyone wants her to be. Updates will at least one chapter every two days. Notable Location Poliagoras. Poliagoras is the most important world in the Fabric partly due to it being the centre of everything both literally and metaphorically. Trade, commerce, travel, and politics are all conducted primarily on Poliagoras, it has the biggest city in the fabric stretching to cover almost the entire world. It also holds all the known Great portals in the Fabric which are the only way to travel to other worlds. Even without these things, Poliagoras would still be the most important world in the Fabric as it is home to the largest population of Favoured. They were mages chosen by the Deities and given the potential to become more than mortal. I cannot overstate how appreciated constructive criticism is. This is the first story I have written of my own volition so even a small comment on how I could improve would be great. The current title is most definitely a working one. I know it isn't great.
