《The 1975 Imagines》Safety Blanket p.1 - George

'This isn't right.' You sigh, taking a glance at yourself in the mirror - messy hair, red face, a bit of a mess overall.
'Isn't it?' George smirked as he pulled his underwear back on before walking round to the side of the bed where you were perched. 'Why does it keep happening then?'
You turned to face him. His tattoos on full show, painted all over his body somehow making him even better looking than before.
'I don't know why it keeps happening. You're my safety blanket.' You laugh as you grab his t-shirt from behind you and chucking it over your head before getting up. Your body tingles as George's hand hits your backside before you flip him off.
'Where you going?' He questions, pulling your hand back.
'To get food. We haven't eaten for ages, I'm ordering something in.'
You slump yourself down on George's sofa and begin searching through deliveroo for something to eat - anything - you hadn't eaten since the evening before.
'What do you fancy to eat tonight?' You ask George as you feel his presence behind you, his breath heavy as he leans over to look over your shoulder at the options.
'Hmm. Other than you?' He says, earning himself a hand to the face from you.
'Chinese.' You say in sync as his local delivery service comes up.
You laugh. 'Sorted.'
The pair of you sit and watch some random old American TV show to pass the time, George trying his best to once again bed you, his fingers tracing patterns on your bare thighs which were mostly responded too with them being pushed away from you.
But George was hard to say no to. Most of the time you were with him you couldn't believe he wanted to spend any time with you, everything about him was perfect. Which was why it was so difficult that there was no actual love there - from his end, anyway. He would laugh in your face if you spoke about any sort of relationshippy things, which was odd seeming that everything you did together was something people in a couple would do.
But the dynamic wasn't that way - it wouldn't work. That didn't get rid of the fact that George was simply gorgeous, however, his body - perfect in build and height - his kind nature, the way he kissed your forehead unprovoked, how large his hands were compared to yours, his thick hair and love for your hands being in it, just simply everything.

But it would never work.
His cold hand on your thigh reminded you of the nature of your relationship, and you finally gave in.
'You win, Daniel.'
'Every bloody time.' He smirks as he pulls you onto his lap, your legs straddling him as his hands find their way up and down your body.
'I hate you.' You whisper as you lean your body close to his, connecting your lips softly before his dominance inevitably overtakes, and you feel his urge to stand up, so you instinctively wrap your legs tight around his torso.
His lips find their way to your neck, sucking softly as he carries you towards the bed you had only just left, when suddenly the door knocked loudly.
The food.
'Leave it outside!' George yells.
'Leave what outside?' A familiar voice calls back.
'Fuck. That's not the food. The boys wanted to come over so I said they could last night, slipped my mind completely.' George explains whilst slowly putting you down.
'It's fine.' You laugh. 'But you're gonna have to hide that rock in your pants real quick.'
He blushes and runs into the bathroom as you go to get the door.
You open it to see Ross, Matty and Adam who look surprised to see you.
'Oh, Y/N! Hey!' Ross exclaims.
The other two follow the same sort of remark before making themselves comfortable, Matty sitting himself down right where you and George had just been.
'Where's the man himself?' Matty asks whilst nodding at you in thanks after you pass him a beer.
'Don't actually know.' You lie as you open your own drink before sitting down next to Adam.
'That's code word for "we interrupted something"' Ross jokes, receiving a hard nudge in response from you.
'You aren't wrong there.' George laughs as he saunters into the living area and perches on the arm of the sofa next to Matty. 'Hello Matthew.'
The afternoon turned to evening as the five of you sat and chatted, played video games, finally ate the food you were craving and got increasingly more drunk. It was nice hanging with George's friends, there was never an unwelcoming sense and you had a different relationship with them all.
You had always been particularly fond of Adam. His personality seemed to mirror yours so it was odd you got on so well, but he was so different to George. Your ability to speak to each other non-verbally was something you were grateful for, and you couldn't really spend time alone together much so you appreciated when he hung out with you all.

You grew tired as the late evening turned to early morning, and went to the fridge to get some water so try and sober yourself up a bit. Adam was in the kitchen flicking through his phone with a bottle of water himself and you greeted him with a smile.
'All good in your world?' You ask, your words slurring slightly, reflecting the amount of alcohol you had consumed.
'Pretty boring, but yeah all good. Not much to report on. But how are things with you? You and George look pretty cosy.' He replies.
'I wouldn't say cosy. It's the same as it's always been, he's my friend, like all of you are.'
'You don't shag the rest of us, Y/N.' He teases.
'Adam! Shut up, that's literally all it is anyway.'
'I beg to differ. I see how you two look at each other. I've known George for god knows how long and have met the many girls he's introduced to us...' He begins.
'What's your point?' You interrupt.
'Have you not realised how long you've been around for? This isn't just a fling to George, I can promise you that. And I don't think it's just that to you either.'
Your conversation is cut short by a loud scream from Matty after he presumably beat George in some video game.
'Too right! I am victorious!' Matty teases and you hear George tut as he throws down the controller. Always a sore loser.
'Well I'm glad that's over.' Matty says as you see him lay down on the sofa. 'Haven't seen you in a bit though, how are things?'
George mumbles a response which causes Matty to sit up, wobbling as his intoxicated body fails to support him sat up.
Matty begins to whisper, and you and Adam lean closer to the doorway to try and figure out what's being said. Clearly drunk, the pair don't realise how loud they're actually being.
'So, Y/N still? You getting as much use out of her as possible?'
'Be quiet, she's in the next room.'
'She can't hear us, she's talking to Hann.'
George laughs and lowers his voice. 'I mean, you could say that, then. She comes in handy when needed.'
You couldn't believe your ears, and Adam goes red next to you after hearing what you had just heard too, especially after the conversation the pair of you had just had.
'We all need our safety blankets, don't we, eh G?' Matty laughs.
What a fucking idiot you were. To think a part of you believed that there was some sort of future with George. But you were just a body to him, something to play with.
Being drunk didn't help, and Adam could sense what you were planning on doing. You weren't confrontational, never had been, and he knew that. He grabbed your arm as you moved forward.
'I'll come with you, I don't want you leaving alone.'
'Don't worry, I don't live far and my brother doesn't ever sleep. He'll be on his way soon.'.
Adam smiles sadly at you as you text your brother George's address.
You leave the other 3 to entertain themselves in the living room and leave Adam in the kitchen to quickly pack up your things unnoticed, not letting yourself get upset yet as to not draw attention to the fact you were leaving.
With everything together you give Adam a quick wave as you feel yourself getting teary, but quietly let yourself out as the others argue over another football match.
It felt silly. You knew and had discussed with George that you were on a friends with benefits basis. But you had spent nearly an entire week at his house and things felt different. He wasn't afraid to show you off in public, you were closer with his friends than ever, and small moments kept happening which felt like the beginning of something.
As you opened the door of your brothers car you heard a loud slam as George met you on his front porch.
'Where are you going?' He asks with heavy breath from running down the stairs.
'I'm sorry, do you care? I thought there wasn't much left of me to use? Do you not have another girl in the waiting line to come over whenever the last one leaves?'
'Y/N, I didn't mean that, I didn't know you were listening. It was lads banter.' He defends.
'Lads banter? You spoke about me like that for a laugh? We'll get used to lads banter because that's all you're going to be getting from now on.' You reply before getting in the car and nudging your brother to drive away.
As you drive away from his flat you see him only as a figure in the distance, his head in his hands as he watches you leave.
And then what had happened hits you.

Papercuts to Fell Immortals
Qing Shen is a girl from the counrtyside, forced into a role she never wanted by a Young Master who's infamy is spread throughout the land. As a Cultivator in the path to immortality, Qing Shen has to deal with her own problems as well as the mysteries surrounding her Young Master. Things, however, are not as they seem, and the young girl finds that sometimes the truth is more unbelievable than the lies we often follow. . . . If you want a less hidden-meaning summary: This story is about the struggles of one girl as she tries to become an Immortal. There won't be any meaningful romance, but there will be a plot that spans most of the story, and violence. Oh the violence! I'm not going to say that my ideas are 100% original (because hoo boy are there a lot of Wuxia), but hopefully I can write something entertaining. Guaranteed things: 1. Cliche events with a twist (I mean, it's literally in the description) 2. Important Characters will have backstories and motivations that will hopefully make them not one-dimensional (honestly, that's just normal stuff...) 3. Untrustworthy characters (everyone in the story lies, even me, so don't trust everything you read... but at the same time, trust everything you read) 4. Goodish grammar (not gonna say mine's the best, but it's readable in most cases) 5. Plot! (Everywhere!) 6. worldbuilding? (Should be there somewhere, but I probably won't do blatant info dumps... probably) 7. Character development? (Its there... at some point...) 8. The story gets dark at some points (if you don't like characters dying, then this might not be your cup of tea) 9. A strong main character? (She'll be strong, yes. However, her enemies are also strong. If everyone is strong, then is she no longer strong? My brain hurts) 10. Wow, this list is going on for awhile... uh, Believable and reasonable Action? (I mean, I'm writing for mainly my fun, so if I want a fight scene, then I might craft a scenario to explain it... or I might suddenly throw in a Dragon and call it a day) This story also goes by the same name over on Webnovel.com, but I'm going to be updating it here because, well I want to. They are both by me, and created by me. If there's anything that seems like a copy of another work, then that's just the genre being saturated by everything under the sun.

8 267Marakar
Far from the exploration he yearned to go on, Rae, the Kijah prince, finds himself in the middle of the impending war between Kijah'dar and Ga'ani. Unknown to him, or to the rest of the states, the Kijah Magister plots to overthrow the queen, and he will stop at nothing to achieve his plans. Marakar is a fantasy adventure series about the island states of Mar’narana (with focus primarily on the two states, Kijah'dar and Ga'ani). Tensions between the big players are rising, with more and more plots getting revealed, and powers are unexpectedly shifting. As the string of seemingly unconnected events grows taut, the smaller nations suddenly find themselves into the midst of things, struggling with the sudden shifting of their boards. On a more meta note, I am trying to develop two storylines parallel to each other. As you might have noticed, odd-numbered chapters are very different from even-numbered chapters. That’s because those are the two different storylines; odd-numbered chapters are in the present, while even-numbered ones are in the past. Once the two eventually meet I'll continue with just the present storyline. This story can also be found here where it currently updates every other Sunday (about twice a month). Feedback is greatly appreciated! Thank you for taking the time to read. :) tw/cw list (please take care of your mental health! Don't force yourself to read these chapters if they may harm you). -------> Chapter 14: hate crime description.
