《Dare: Love within the student council》hatefully adorable

Park Jeongwoo signed the last document for approval and sighed. He stood up from his seat after he finished his job and handed the documents over to the student council secretary. He scanned the room and found Haruto and Doyoung missing.
Yedam smiled at the confused reaction of Jeongwoo and explained, "I asked Haru to help Youngie with checking the clubs"
"I'm not particularly looking for him" Jeongwoo huffed and slid back to his seat. He dropped his head and started to check the documents for the school clubs' budget when Junghwan rushed inside the room again.
"Woo!?" Jeongwoo jolted in surprised at the sudden exclamation."Have you seen, Haru?"
"N-No, why?"
"His grandpa did it again" Junghwan sighed and continued, "There's a news released about Haruto being engaged. Did you two knoe about this?"
Yedam and Asahi stared at each and chuckled. As expected of the grandfather that dotes on his grandchold heavily.
Jeongwoo froze slightly at the news and awkwardly smiled at Junghwan, "I-Is that so? G-Good for him"
Junghwan tilted his head, he heard from Haruto that they are together but it appears that it was a one-sides misconception.
"Dammie hyung, Asahi hyung, I'm sorry but I need to help help someone out" Jeongwoo robotically bid and dashed to exit the room.
Junghwan stared at rhe seniors and asked, "Don't tell me he misread the news?". The seniors inside the room shrugged in reply, smilea obviously hinting that they are enjoying the drama.
Haruto was dragged into a corner by Jeongwoo's bestfriend, Kim Yeongue. The bespectacled musician has a disapproving look and a menacing aura as he stared at the tall executive council leader. "Yah, have you properly explained everything to Woo?"
"Hmm?" Haruro raised his brows, obviously confused. Yeongue blew the fringe in his eyes fruatratedly. How come someone so smart is so insensitive? "Explain what to, Woo?"

"Your grandfather released an article about your engagement this morning"
Haruto frowned as he cursed the two generations of clan leader for doing something so unnecessary. "I'll take to him abou that"
"No, not that" Yeongue grimaced and stared at the japanese in annoyance. "Have you confirmed your relationship status with Woo?"
"En?"
"You fool!" The pianist blow his top off making the students passing by flinch at the sudden exclamation. Yeongue had to inhale three times to calm his anger down. "You basically rejected Woo's confession before"
"I did?" Haruto tilted his head, obviously not grasping the scenario. He bit his lips as he tried to remember what they talked about when Jeongwoo confessed. "I didn't though?"
"You did not confirm that you like him either. Now, Woo told me earlier that you and him are not a couple"
"But we are? I won't be touchy to him if we are not"
"But he does not think that way." Yeongue grunted as he tried to patiently explain " Now, Jeongwoo who thinks that he has been rejected heard the news of your engagement. What do you think he would feel?"
Haruto widened his eyes as he realized the possible misunderstanding his roommate would feel. "He's not misunderstanding things, is he?"
The pianist chuckled slightly as he watched panic appear on Haruto's expressions. He sighed in relief and noted, "I don't know. But, I saw him earlier called at the back of the school by a girl. Probably a confes-"
Yeongue laughed as he watched the samurai hopped down the stairs and scaled down the windows and ran for his life.
Watanabe Haruto had never felt so rush in his entire life and the people who were watching him also never knew that he could be that fast.

The imner courts located at the back of the school was a known confession spot. It was also an area that is visible from the rooftop. A few pair of eyes watched the whole drama with interest as they discussed the actions of a certain japanese.
Without his knowing, Haruto has become the leading actor of someone else's planned drama. But, he had not any time to spare to think of any other thing as he spotted Jeongwoo and a girl, he remembered to be a year younger.
"Sunbae-nim, I've always admired you. Please be my boyfriend" The samurai felt his blood boiling in jealousy as he watched the female hand over a box of chocolate. He watched Jeongwoo received the box and his vision darkened. Next thing he knew, he rushed out of his hiding place yanking Jeongwoo's arms to pull towarsa him.
To say that Jeongwoo was shocked was an understatement, he was absolutely mortified when a force suddenly pulled him out of nowhere. When he whiffed a familar musky scent of light citrus, his fears immediately eased. He raised his head and was about to complain when his cheeks were held captive suddenly by the tall japanese's hands. A warm soft lips suddenly crashed against his.
The female stared at them shocked and saw the cold, warning glare from the japanese. Jeongwoo clutched Haruto's shirt and melted in the kiss.
The girl bowed and escaped the scene, intimidated by Haruto's repressing aura. Haruto smiled as he indulged the boy in his arms with kisses.
Jeongwoo regaines his senses as both lips parted for air. "Yah! You shouldn't do this when you're engaged!"
Haruto pouted at the reprimand he received. "You're okay with me being engaged to someone else? "
"No, I-" Jeongwoo bit his lips. Haruto was so irritated that he bit Jeongwoo's lips lightly. "Ha-Haru"
"Woo, did you know that Watanabe's are possessive?" Haruto tightened his hold on Jeongwoo's waist. "And, we dont kiss people we dont love"
Haruto stole a peck on Jeongwoo's lips one more time and smiled as the other looks so baffled. "Haru?"
"Who do you think they are referring to as my engagement partner?"
Jeongwoo widened his eyes as he realized the implications from the other, "you dont mean--"
"Well, it seems like I messed up the sequence. Park Jeongwoo" Haruto grinned boyishly at Jeongwoo. "Be mine"
"Baka" Jeongwoo burst out laughing, tears in his eyes as he hopped and clinged to Haruto. "Haruto, you idiot. My idiot"
"Your dark plans always works, Mashiho" Hyunsuk cackled as he watched the scene. He leaned his head on Byounggon's shoulder who was watching the drama with the rest of the gang in the rooftop. Yedam and Keita even had popcorns on their arms. Doyoung sighed as he was filming the scene as ordered by his boyfriend. Mashiho smiled at Junkyu, "See? I work magic"
"You always do. Each and everytime" Junkyu whispered back kissing Mashiho in his cheeks. He then glanced at the scene of Jeongwoo scolding Haruto for being so vague and Haruto pouting as he felt wrong but is too whipped to voice out anything. "At least, I don't have to worry about Haru being a rival now"
The gang laughed at the remark as they remembered how Haruto once messed up and was accused of being a secret admirer of Mashiho. The hyungs watch their maknaes with a happy expression. The Kings were just happy that their idiotic, spoiled and lazy-ass samurai maknae had finally found a place he can call home.

Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.

Dragon: Birth of an Ancient
Deep in a secluded forest, within the depths of a long forgotten cave, an unnatural silence that has reigned for little over a million years is shattered as a hatchling takes its first breath. To the various species that called this world, one of seven, home, the matter seemed beyond insignificant. The hatchling, like all monsters, had no divine backing and with its age, could only be considered a lesser existence. A being to be used by the Chosen and noble monster bloodlines in their never-ending pursuit of power, fame and immortality. However, how could any of the short-lived races, Chosen and Monster alike, know that the tiny, weak, lizard-like creature was much more than it seemed. That it was an entity only spoken of in myth and legend. From a species that their ancestors, with the backing of the Gods, paid a huge price to remove. A heretical existence that threatened the fragile peace that had descended upon their world. A Dragon. ==== ** Cover done by the amazing Felix!*** I am writing this story for a friend who is currently in hospital and in a very precarious situation. He gave me the plot/ concept and, after my own health issues, I wanted to try and brighten his day and provide a distraction from the monotony of their hospital stay. I am posting it on RRL mainly in case anyone else can find enjoyment from the story and to show the readers of my other stories that I am not permanently MIA (and will 100% return to those stories in the future).
