《The Student Council | Ray》Classic

Me and (f/n) were getting ready to walk home from school when I heard Emma run toward us in the halls. She probably would have knocked us over if we haven't moved to the left just in time.

"Guys!" she exclaimed catching her breath. Norman and Ray quickly followed her. I noticed Ray smiling at me and he waved at us I felt (f/n) nudge my elbow and I discreetly kicked her in the shin.

"The new karaoke place just opened today! Wanna join us?" she said. I was about to refuse because I wanted to avoid Ray at all costs because of the incident at my sister's birthday party, but I felt (f/n) grab my forearm excitedly.

"We'd love to!" she said. She better not be scheming something again like last time.

"Perfect! I already reserved a room so we don't have to wait!" Emma replied.

We all started walking to the mall and (f/n) stood between me and Ray behind Emma and Norman. It was pretty quiet, to say the least. Well minus the two lovebirds in front of us.

"So guys, how you been?" (f/n) said, trying to break the silence. I resisted face-palming my forehead.

"I'm fine, (f/n), in fact, you should know that because you literally live two houses away from me," I said sharply. I questioned what she was doing with my actions, but her eyes just said, "What?! I was just breaking the silence!"

"Alright. Ray, whatcha been up to recently?" she said.

"Uh, nothing much. Oh, actually, one of my classmates asked me to tutor her in math, so I've been going to the library often," he explained matter-of-factly. He put his hand on his neck as I saw (f/)'s expression change into a thoughtful one.

" I see. So what do you teach Ray?" she asked. I secretly hit her shoulder to get her to shut up, but she just shrugged it off.

"Uh math?" he said. I immediately looked at (f/n). Besides sunshine and rainbows, (f/n)'s mind is also lowkey confusing. Like, where is she going with this?

"Well, guys moving on," I said, changing the topic. "So (f/n), how's your life going?" I asked her.

She went back to smiling again. Well, something's about to happen. "I'm doing just fine."

"Oh look, guys, we're here!" Emma said cheerfully. We all looked at the sign. It read "24 Hour Karaoke Club" in neon purple lights.

We walked inside and it smelled delicious. My mouth watered at the scent of my favorite food, (f/f). Emma walked up to the front desk while Norman took a laminated menu from one of the stands.

"So you can do solo songs and duets," he stated thoughtfully. I bet he was thinking of asking Emma to sing with him.

Emma then came back and we followed her to one of the private karaoke rooms upstairs. We all marveled at the technology surrounding us.

It was purple and had a table with a couch, me between (f/n) and Ray. Two microphones were connected to a TV, while speakers were found everywhere. We all took a spot on the couches. Norman ordered some calamari for all of us, and we started talking about all sorts of things. He then stood up to hook up the microphones to the setup.

"Oh (y/n), I forgot, It was your sister's birthday a week ago right?" Emma asked, looking at me. I kind of choked on my iced tea but swallowed quickly.

"Yeah, it was," I answered. Out of all the places I had to talk about that, why did it have to be here?

"(f/n) told me you had a lot of fun! How was it?" she asked. I instantly looked at her and she started reading aloud the nutrition facts.

"Wow 198 milligrams of cholesterol, 13.2 grams of protein, and 0.3 grams of saturated fat for calamri?" I heard her murmur, hiding behind a menu.

"It was, interesting, to say the least," I explained vaguely. I side-glanced at Ray and quickly turned around, because his head was propped on his hand, which was leaning on the table. And he was smiling at me.

"As I was saying, it was definitely an experience," I said but quickly regretted. (f/n) looked from her menu shield, and I heard Ray shift behind me.

"Experience, what do you mean?" Emma asked curiously. She tiltled her head, waitin for an answer.

"Well, I mean-" I was cut off by Norman shouting, "Guy's we're ready!"

I was glad to escape that situation because any weird answer could backfire against me. Emma, (f/n), and Ray all craned their necks to see the sound system.

"I wanna go first!" Emma exclaimed, standing up. We watched as Norman explained the gist of it, even though we all knew how karaoke works. She proceeded in clicking the shuffle button. We watched as familiar songs flashed before our eyes until it stopped on "Snowman", by Sia.

She started and sang really excitedly. The lighting around the room lit up with every note. It was like a disco ball. We cheered as she finished.

"Aww, I only got a 74," she said, kind of disappointed. "Well it was ok for a first try. And here, Norman, you go next."

She offered the microphone to him and he pressed shuffle as well. This time it landed on "You're the One that I Want" from "Grease."

It was a duet, so he asked Emma to sing with him. They didn't really sing, they mostly just screamed out the lyrics before bursting into a fit of giggles. Cute.

"Wow 87?" Norman said, surprised. "We're pretty good!" he handed off the mic to Ray this time, who reluctantly accepted. He clicked shuffle and landed on "Total Eclipse of the Heart."

(f/n) stifled a laugh, while I myself had to bite my lip from snickering. Ray groaned and started singing very monotonously. As someone as confusing as he is, he IS fun to laugh at.

"A 52. Shocker." he said before sitting down next to me. He gave the microphone to (f/n), who quickly pressed shuffle. She seemed pretty excited for her turn.

"Ooh "Call Me Maybe!" she said before singing. As she was singing she jumped up and sang her heart out, literally yelling in the microphone.

"I got a 90!" (f/n) said after she finished. "Here (y/n), your turn."

I stood up and silently prayed that I get a good song. I took a deep breath and pressed shuffle. I quickly read all the titles that passed me before it stopped on "Classic" by MKTO. The universe just loves me.

As I was scanning the options, one particular bullet point shot out to me.

"Uh guys, it's a duet," I stated. I saw (f/n) clap her hand over her mouth. I'm sure I know what's going on through her head.

"Well, I already did one with Emma, so Ray would you want to go?" Norman asked. Emma nodded as well.

He smirked. "Sure, I'll sing with her," Ray agreed. He standed next to me and I gave him the other microphone.

"Well (y/n), seems were in another situation," he said under his breath. I ignored him as the song started. He chose to be Player 1 so he went first.

Ooh, girl you shining like a 5th avenue diamond, and they don't make you like you used to, you're never going out of style.

Alright, so great start. I went next.

Ooh, pretty baby, this world might have gone crazy. The way you saved me, who could blame me, when I just wanna make you smile?

Now that we got into it, my nerves started relaxing. At the next line, Ray didn't even bother looking at the lyrics. Instead, he looked at me.

I wanna thrill you like Michael, I wanna kiss you like Prince,

Two can play at this game. At the same vibe I sang,

Let's get it on like Marvin Gaye, like Hathaway, write a song for you like this,

No matter how much he annoys me sometimes, I can never turn away from his eyes. How they twinkle sometimes. And his smile. The way that he smiles in such a sweet way is enough to make someone develop feelings for him at first glance.

The only thing is, what he said back at my sister's birthday party, was a joke. Just a way to make fun of me or something. How I know? You wouldn't just pretend confessing didn't happen. Of course there would be some kind of awkardness between, but there wasn't. That's why it's just a lie.

But, there's a part of me that does admire him. More than friends, or aquaintances, or whatever we are. I try to ignore that little voice in my head. It's what makes my cheeks flush when I'm around him. When he playfully teases me, and my heart skips. Why does he have to be so difficult at times, I can never figure out what he's thinking.

That littl voice in my head sometimes asks me, "What if what he said was actually true?" I always pushed the thought out of my mind. But it always comes back. Would I be happy? Probably not. Confused? Obviously.

But there are times I wish it was real. It's heart-fluttering. A boy having feelings for you. You can't blame me for reacting like this. But common sense only states that it's false. And to think he faked a kiss on my cheek too.

You're over my head, I'm out of my mind . Thinking I was born, in the wrong time. One of a kind living in a world so plastic,

We both sang together, with much energy we can muster. He held my hand and I felt different about him. It was like when we danced together, I couldn't take my eyes off him.

We forgot all about our surroundings. We somehow knew the lyrics, and I briskly forgot all about our other friends. The only thing that mattered to me right now was Ray, and what kind of person he is.

Baby, you're so classic.

We sang the last line before quickly facing the other way. I was brought back to the real world. What the heck, (y/n), what were you thinking? Holding Ray's hand like that?! I thought. I quietly sat down in my seat.

"Woah, 98?!" Emma exclaimed. I looked up at the screen. Wow, we must've sang pretty well.

"(y/n), (y/n), don't tell me you didn't enjoy it," I heard (f/n) say.

"Shut up (f/n), we're never speaking about this," I replied under my breath so that only she can hear.

I felt a tap on my shoulder from Ray and turned around. Please don't mention anything relating to what just happened, this is too much right now.

However, I watched as Ray looked to the TV and back to me. He smirked. I have a bad feeling about this.

"Why don't next time we sing "Can't Help Falling in Love" together?~"

I was walking home with (f/n), and she kept interrogating about what he said.

"And he said that. Ray, the emo bookworm who is our student council treasurer and surprisingly a decent cook said that," she repeated, trying to get a hold of it. "Oh (y/n), he's crazy over you. I know you don't wanna believe it, but that's the gospel truth."

I rolled my eyes but smiled a little. "Yeah, whatever you say (f/n)."

"See? You're not even arguing against it! So if you're not saying no, that means you're basically saying yes!" she answered, almost walking into a streetlight. "By the way, can I be the Maid of Honor at your wedding with him? I wanna make a speech of how my OTP sailed."

"Shut up!" I replied jokingly before slapping the back of her head.

"Hey!"
