《Flame & Frost | Rise of the Guardians Fanfiction》I'll Manage

Jack POV

"Jack. I'm telling you one last time. No." North pinched the bridge of his nose. "Why don't you listen to me first, she-"

North glared at me. "We can't risk anything. Its too dangerous. I don't know how you could even come up with this preposterous thing!"

I groaned yet again. Convincing North to burn Jade, was not an easy job. Especially when you're alone and to defend yourself. Breeze, Ben and Aqua had left; Each of them had their own duties to fulfill too.

North leaned back on his chair and stared at me as I glared at the ground. After a few minutes of painful silence, I gave up on him. I walked out of the room and purposedly slammed the door behind me, not caring if anyone would get a heart attack from my actions. I reluctantly walked into Jade's room, pushing the sturdy door open.

The condition of the room hasn't changed since I left it earlier before, so I had nothing to worry about. I sat on the edge of the bed, staring out at the open window.

I didn't feel uncomfortable anymore like I used to when Jade's around like this. Dead. I'm used to hanging out with an inanimate being. A dead gothic Barbie.

The cold breeze from the open window brushed pass my face, swishing my hair. I fiddled with my staff, waiting for the rest of the elementors to arrive. Though it was just for a few hours since they'd left, my concious feeling is saying that they will come in a matter of moments.

I suddenly felt the urge to actually create something. I conjured a block of ice. I admired the sparkle and shimmer that the ice gave in to. I looked around for a sharp thingy and a small dagger on the windowsill caught my eye.

Putting my staff aside, I walked to the window and picked up the dagger, examining it. The point looked sharp enough for me to carve, so I gave the dagger a praise. Thank you, dagger, for having a mighty sharp end. I flopped myself on the bed again, positioning the dagger on my right and the block of ice on my left hand.

My pale fingers were busy flipping the ice over and over, scooping and carving the ice with my mini dagger. I had a perfect design in my head, and the design was slowly converted into a real object with my skills, though I know I'm not a pro carver.

Nevertheless, the determination and spirit that I had to complete my sculpture was overflowing, trying to make the ordinary ice as extraordinary and special as possible. I have to admit though; I did a very good job.

After a few, which seems like hours, I finally finished my carving. I'm not as surprised that it doesn't melt, because my body is like a refridgerator. I kept the ice cold and freezing. I flipped the transparent snowflake pendant in my palms, admiring the definition and the shape. I've flattered myself.

I closed the pendant around my hand, focusing on the flowing power that shot through my hand. The liquidy feeling that rushed through my arms and to my palms was converted into a icy blue light as it reached the pendant in my hands. What am I doing? Oh, I'm trying to make the ice unmeltable

The power surged through me stopped as I felt the snowflake harden. I opened my hands to find a rather shiny snowflake with hints of icy blue on the edges. I grinned as it didn't shatter when I threw it to the floor, bouncing and making a loud clicking noise. I picked it up and looked around for something to tighten it with.

Due to my laziness and irritation to find a proper thread from outside of the room, I forced myself to pick a thread from my trousers. I succesfully fished out a long brown thread that matched my trousers completely. I fiddled with the thread and pendant, making knots around it and securing it there. I finally managed to create a necklace with a snowflake pendant; Fit for anyone.

"Hey ice." I jumped a little at Aqua's sudden appearance at the window, crouching on the frame. His feautures was so dark I could barely make out his body shape out of the dark night.

"Um.. H-hi," I stuttered, desperately stuffing the necklace into my hoodie's pocket; Hoping that Aqua hadn't seen the necklace and my struggle to hide it. Aqua stepped out of the shadow and closed the window behind him before sitting on the edge of the bed with me.

I gave him a knowing look to which he had responded open mindedly.

"Ben and Breeze usually go for the door." He cleared his throat as I nodded slowly.

There was a moment of silence when we both stared at Jade, as if our stares can break through her skin.

"You failed." Aqua declared, not taking his stare off. I sighed. I knew that my attempt to reason with North was nothing mysterious enough to prevent the rest from knowing. Words spreads so easily. As a matter of fact, Aqua was the one who partly suggested that I should do it, after Breeze and Ben left together to perform their jobs. I'd agreed, but didn't promise that it'd work.

"Its hard." I tightened my grasp on my staff as he humorlessly chuckled and copied my words in a hush.

"You could've tried harder." He responded icily, being obvious.

"I've tried my hardest." I gritted my teeth.

"You're not being good enough. In fact, you're not good enough for Jade as well."

The words that left from his mouth weren't just words, they mean a lot more than words when he implied that to me. Its a war starter.

"Are you disagreeing to the fate?" I said, directly bringing up the major topic up. "Yes." He replied simply, he turned and death glared at me.

"The one who should be with her is me. Not you." He continued just as I was about to shoot back. "You're hurting her. Unlike me." He chuckled humorlessly. "Stop being a prick. She has no feelings towards you." I said icily.

"Well now do you think she has feelings towards you?"

"Yes." I replied confidently.

"What if everything was just an act? Can you believe it? Can she fall inlove with you in just a few days? If you're asking me; No, Jack Frost. No."

That ends it.

In a swift movement I grabbed his neck and threw him towards the nearby wall. I took the opportunity of his position - crampled on the floor - and pinned him towards the wall as tight as I could manage. He was choking by the time I growled at him.

I had no words to shoot back. Maybe its true; Maybe everything was an act. I couldn't confirm, but the only way I could think of to shut Aqua up is doing what I'm doing. My chest was going up and down rapidly as my fierce self choked the gagging water elementor.

I breathed in and slammed his head to the walls again when I breathed out. The walls shook with the concussion. My body was trembling with anger, confusion and temporary insanity.

Aqua's eyes were about to shut when I felt a strong set of warm hands on my arms, pulling me back. When I turned around my eyes failed me. Who I saw was the unconcious fire elementor which lied on the bed earlier, alive. Awake.

With just a blink of my eyes she vanished, the position was replaced with Ben, giving me a merciful look. I gradually softened as he loosened my hands and reasoned with me at the same time.

"Come on Jack, where's the Guardian of Fun we knew all this time, mate? Come on, calm down," Ben tugged my arms when he sensed that I'm not done with my anger.

I gripped tighter, and Ben did a swift job when he pried my fingers away; Aqua's body fell and cramped to the ground. He coughed multiple times, trying to get air.

I took a few step backwards, keeping my attention to Ben's guiding eyes. He let me go when I was at a safe distance.

"Thanks." I huffed, walking towards the now open window. I sensed footsteps behind me when I almost reached my short destination. I pushed the window open, careful not to slam it. Just as I was about to jump, a tiny hand caught my wrist, tugging me back slightly.

I didn't bother to turn around, my eyes were glued to the night sky. I missed the cold air already.

"Where do you think you're going?" Breeze asked desperately as I didn't respond to another soft tug.

"Home." I replied nonchalantly. I didn't have my own private home, everyone knows that. Before I was a Guardian I was homeless, sad to say. Now that North doesn't accept my proposes this workshop doesn't feel like home anymore.

"You don't have a home..." She said between statement and question.

"I'll manage." I pried my wrist free from her grasp and quickly jumped onto the windowsill. I jumped with the echo of Breeze's worrying tone, telling me to stay safe. The wind picked me up easier than before, I'm guessing it was Breeze's idea.

I drived myself to Jamie's and just as I arrived, my feet landed on the windowsill of Jamie's bedroom. His window was opened slightly so with a force from my fingers, the window gave me way. I stepped into the bedroom, greeted by Jamie's gasp from the corner of his room, where his toys are.

"Jack!" He ran towards me and wrapped his small arms around my waist. I replied the hug, setting my staff aside so that I take no risk of freezing him. When he pulled away I casually walked up to his bed and sat on it. Jamie was like a family to me; And his sister Sophie was a charm.

"Guess what?" He hopped, grinning.

"What?" I tried to sound excited, but I heard myself sound a lot more annoyed than what I intended to sound. I hope Jamie doesn't sense that...

"I got," He pulled out a keychain from his pocket and showed it in front of my face. "This! For Christmas! And its from Megan!" He whined excitedly.

I pulled out a confused face. Megan?

He blinked twice at me and shook his head.

"The new girl in school," He said obviously. I nodded in knowing.

"Ah..." Was all I could come up with. I examined the keychain which was now on my lap. It was a wood carving, I suppose I couldn't get what shape it was carved into. It partly looks like a bishop from chess. Squidward?

"Its a dagger." He said.

"A dagger? Why a dagger?" I asked confusedly. He shrugged twice and we both just stared at the carving. My mind was processing, why would she give him a dagger woodcarving? Why not a car, a hat woodcarving, maybe?

I knew it was none of my business. Jamie reached for it, but my fingers caught it and dangled the string in the air. I was taller than Jamie (Obviously) so the keychain was out of his reach. I proudly grinned as Jamie begged for me to lower my hand, which I declined. He shook me, but I wasn't the type to fall so easily.

"Jack! Give it to me, please!" He whined and climbed on top of the bed, he was about to succeed but I switched the keychain to my other hand, he faltered yet again.

I laughed as he huffed in defeat, punching my side lightly.

"Here you go," I held out the keychain to his face. His expression brightened and his fingers tried they're best to grasp it. I moved the chain out of his range and hovered over him. He glared at me as I smirked victoriously.

"Kiss me first," I playfully pouted my lips and he averted from my face in disgust.

"Ew!" He exclaimed.

"How could you turn down the Jack Frost?" I laughed as he pretended to throw up.

"Why don't you kiss Jade Flame instead?" He suggested as he recovered from his act.

My expression soften and I looked down knowingly.

"I'll manage." I repeated.
