《Flame & Frost | Rise of the Guardians Fanfiction》Pain and Preparation

Jack POV
"I think we need to be prepared for the next attack," North suggested;
I nodded at him and Bunny, turning to Tooth who was cleaning Jade's wounds. Jade would flinch every now and then, but didn't scream at her pain. Tooth said the wounds were kinda deep, and when I see her shoulder, I could see bruises around the wound. Tooth and North forced us to look at the mirror, and there was a pinkish hand mark on the side of my face. North wanted to look at the place where Jade had burnt me, but I didn't let him in any way.
They used Jade to convince me- and of course I would say yes to her! She inspected my chest, and to do so she ordered me to take off my sweater. After a few encouraging words from her I finally obeyed to take it off. But with one condition.
Only Jade could see me half naked.
So North lent his room for us.
I sat on the sofa and didn't look at her as she inspected the wound though, I was embarrassed with my pale chest. She seems to be okay with it.
"Do you think you could freeze it?" She looked at me and I shrugged.
"Try," She took my hand and placed it on my burnt chest. I forced out my frosts and grunted when too much came out from my fingers. She repositioned my hand and placed hers on top of mine.
"Again," She ordered. I forced out my frosts again, this time, I didn't stop until Jade told me to.
"Stop, Jack, stop," She jerked my hand away when she thought I overfrosted. She inspected the burn one last time and smiled at me.
My heart skipped a beat;
"You're good as new," She said as I looked at my chest. She's right, the burn mark wasn't there anymore.
"You're smart," I complimented.
"Thanks,"
She offered my sweater and I took it quickly. I put it on and sighed when I'm finally dressed.
She chuckled at me.
"Why rush?" She smirked.
"I don't have the six packs so..." I trailed off. "Puh-lease," She smiled at me. "You look attractive even when you don't have them,"
I grinned at her and shrugged. Was I really good looking? I have no idea. I don't like checking myself out.
"What about you?" I rose from the sofa and went up to her.
"What about me?" She asked back innocently.
"Those cuts and bruises must hurt so bad," I took her upper arm in my hands, inspecting them closely. She'd refused when Tooth wanted to cover them up with bandages.
"I'm fine," She winced at my touch.
"Do you think you could burn it?" I repeated her phrase and she giggled. I smirked at her and she poked my forehead.
"You're something,"
"Try?" I smirked at her again. She let me put her own hand on her cuts, and I put my hand on hers, just like she did to me.
"Burn it," I instructed and suddenly my hand was on fire.
"Ow!" I exclaimed and Jade jerked away from me, cupping her mouth. She went up to me and took my hand, it didn't burn my flesh this time. My palm was now pinkish.
"Sorry! I forgot!" She flipped my palm and I simply stare at her, smiling smugly.

"Why are you smiling?" She asked, puzzled.
"You look cute when you panic," I smiled again.
"Jack," She eyed me skeptically.
"Jade I," I shook my head and looked at her. "I don't know how you could touch me and not feel pain at my frosts."
"Actually..." She bit her lip. "I... have always been in pain..." Her eyes wandered off from me. "What?" I jerked away from her. I didn't realise I was hurting her!
"But I'm used to it now! Don't worry!" She assured me, trying to take my hand.
"I feel cruel." I said as she finally managed to hold my hand, and she held it surprisingly tight. "I'm used to it," She repeated and I carressed her cheek.
"You're strong," I whispered.
"No I'm not," She sighed.
"I don't care what you say."
"Fine with me."
"Do you still want that wound to get better?" I asked worriedly.
"Nah," She waved it off.
"Its not fine with me," I retorted.
"I don't care what you say," she repeated me.
I sighed, giving up.
"Alright..." I trailed off.
"You know you look sexy half naked?" She grinned smugly at me.
"I wonder if you look sexy half naked?" I shot back at her, grinning victoriously.
"I doubt it," She blushed and look down.
"What about we find out?" I whispered at her ear and she chuckled.
"Just not today," She promised.
"Okay," I slithered my hand around her waist and laughed shortly. "You can be a perv sometimes," She commented.
"Now you know," I chuckled.
"Stop laughing," She looked at me in the eyes.
"I do whatever I want," I said firmly.
"Here comes the stubborn Jack," She sang.
"I don't care what you say," I whispered to her ear.
"Oh?" She turned to look at me. "What about," She pretended to think. "I love you," She said at last.
I stammered, finding a way to shoot back. "You don't care that I love you?" She grinned at me.
"Of course I do," I said, defeated. "Aren't you gonna do something about it?" She smirked at me.
I wanted to take her by surprise so I pushed her down on the sofa and pinned her down like I always do.
"Not this again!" She groaned and I laughed. I lunged my lips to her face and whistled to her nose. She scrunched her nose automatically.
"When cold air bites your nose," I whispered, looking into her eyes.
She giggled.
I let my body lie on top of hers; I was light anyway. And then I buried my face in her chest. Her heart was beating frantically. She carressed my hair, her fingers tangle themselves. "I like your hair," She whispered. "Why?" I mumbled agaisnt her chest. "They're like feathers," She breathed out.
I chuckled and lifted my face to look at her. I was about to touch my lips to hers until someone knocked the door. I groaned and stood up.
"Are you going to be longer inside?" Tooth's cheery voice asked.
Jade looked at me in contempt and I nodded at her, she nodded back.
"Yeah," I answered her.
"Okay! Take your time!" She said.

"And lock the door and windows!" I heard Bunny say. I laughed and turned to look for Jade. She had already went up to the window and locked it shut. I went to the door and locked it.
"What now?" She asked, sitting back on the sofa.
"We continue," I walked towards her and pinned her back down, leaning to my lips to hers.
"Jack?" North called out.
I groaned loudly and ran a hand through my hand in exasperation. "What?" I answered, pissed off. Jade just laughed.
"Use protection!"
"What the hell, North?" I yelled back in disbelief. Jade had said 'What the hell' too. I mean, I'm immortal! And do me and Jade still need to get married before having little flamies and frosties? Are there any rules in being mates as a Guardian? This is a free country!
"Just saying!" He walked off, chortling.
Me and Jade exchanged confused looks. "Did he seriously thought we were going to..." She trailed off.
"Yeah," I ran a hand through my hair again and looked at Jade. Her face was bright red, and I could tell that she was blushing. Wildly.
"We'd think about it," I walked to her, and snickered.
"Jack," She warned.
"What? I'm just saying," I said as a matter of factly and sat beside her.
"Pervert." She shook her head at me.
"You have no idea how an immortal teenage boy feels," I half whispered to her, grinning. "Stop it! You were supposed to be fun and... and... full of mischief and..." She stopped as she realised I am fun and full of mischief at this moment.
"I give up," She groaned and flopped her body to the sofa.
I laughed and propped my body next to her, humming.
"You're not being musical," She complained and rubbed her eyes.
"I'll try," I closed my eyes and drifted off for some seconds.
Jade didn't move while I did so, she also didn't say a thing. She stayed perfectly silent and somehow I'd almost forgot that she's there.
"Jade?" I asked to know if she's there, not bothering to open my eyes.
"Hmm?" Was all she said. I absently put my arms around her, still not opening my eyes. It doesn't feel right...
"Jack, thats my head." She said.
"Sorry," I said quickly. I lifted my hand a bit and then she cuddled to me, her thin fingers tracing circles on my chest.
"Better," I chuckled as she tightened herself to me.
"You're like this since 300 years ago?" Jade asked suddenly.
"Yeah," I answered incoherently.
"You don't change physically anymore?"
"Nope. Jade?"
"What?"
"No offense but you ask stupid questions..." I laughed.
"Yeah I guess. I'm getting more reckless when I'm with you." She traced my shoulders.
"Mm..." I said.
"We better prepare ourselves before Pitch attacks," She stood up and went for the door, leaving me on the couch alone.
Why did she just... huh?
Jade POV
I turned the door knob and went out, facing the cheeky looking Tooth.
"So! How did it go?!" She asked me, giggling. Oh no, not about the sex topic again!
"Tooth," I sighed. "Its too early for you to think that!"
"So you didn't?" Bunny interfered, widening his eyes at me.
"They absolutely didn't," North answered for me, chortling.
The nauseus feeling in the pit of my stomach came back again. When I had told Jack that I'm getting reckless, the nauseus feeling hit me. It happens when something bad is about to occur. Badder than bad. As in, worse than bad. I started to get worried and decided to start preparing to take my mind off it. If I hang out with Jack, I'd get scared just to think of what's going to happen if I don't distract myself. But just because I will distract it away from me doesn't mean that something isn't going to happen! I shivered.
"Jade?" My favourite voice came from behind me. Jack went up to me and looked at me confusedly.
I tried to smile at him despite of the nauseus feeling.
"Jack," I croaked hoarsely. Wow. Even my voice is changing now.
"I'll be... outside the workshop if anybody need me," I excused myself and started for the lift, gaining confused murmurs from the Guardians.
I breathed out deeply as I was outside the workshop. I looked around.
Everything is snow white! I hugged myself as cold air gushed past me. I found a less snowy creek and sat on the edge of it, looking down at the rocky surface below my dangling feet. I had wore the Converse shoes North had gave me last Christmas for months now. And I love it. I don't like it when my feet gets cold and sloppy.
I started humming to a random melody as I hear footsteps from behind. I lit up the flame inside of me, or should I say 'Hot Mode' and let the person come.
The footsteps stopped. Then I heard something being stuck inside the snow. I ignored it completely. I'm so drained off! Mentally and physically. I sighed, still ignoring the person behind me.
"Are you okay?" Jack said from behind me, and I didn't bother to turn to look at him.
"I'm good, I'm good," I said hoarsely.
"Liar." Jack took a sit beside me, making the snow on the edge of the creek fall down below. "Tell me what's wrong. You're not looking at me." From the edge of my eye, I saw his white hair ruffling softly because of the wind.
"Its nothing you need to be worried about, okay?" I sighed.
"Spit it out." He snapped icily. Wow. I did did a good job on bringing this side of him back.
"Not a chance,"
"Pshaw!" He groaned frustratedly.
"Forget about it." I ran my fingers through my hair. I heard Jack cursed under his breath and stood up. He simply took his staff and flied away.
I was left there, still dangling my feet.
I stared still at the other side of the creek, and I didn't move for a few minutes as the nauseus feeling came back without me inviting it.
When it subsided I stood up and decided to burn some trees, as North said, preparing myself for the next attack. When Pitch says he'll come back then he will. Without a doubt.
And none of us know when he'll strike, thats why we have to prepare. Prepare before he comes.
I found a perfect line of pine trees, I lit my hands on fire and made them bigger and hotter as it dimmed in the cold air.
One by one I burnt them, making them bigger every time.
Suddenly a gush of strong and cold wind past through me, and the fire got bigger. My hair messed itself, and as I turned around I saw Jack spinning his very own chilly tornado.
I smiled at him in awe and he looked at me victoriously, his white teeth gleaming.
"I never knew you could do that," I shouted over the noise his tornado is making.
"I can," He smirked at me and I crossed my arms up to my chest, simply watching him doing his abilities.
I saw North, Bunnymund, Tooth and Sandy jogging to behind Jack. They seem to breath out in relief when they saw it was Jack who conjured the tornado up. When Jack realised the rest of the Guardians were present, he killed the tornado. It slows down and flattened, then the remaining wind gushed past me and blew my hair to every direction.
I turned to the burning flame trees and died the fire by snapping my fingers. The fire was put out completely with a 'shp' sound.
The Guardians came up to us.
"Sandy!" I exclaimed and hugged him. When I pulled away he waved at me, smiling.
"How's are things here?" Tooth asked.
"Awesome," Jack came up to us, proud looking.
"Well everyth-" I was cut off with a sharp pain on my neck, and then my body was dragged from behind me. I reached out towards the Guardians, choked in my own words. They had this surprised and horror faces as I trashed, trying to break free from the strangle.
"The big five. Altogether."
I coughed and choked as the strangle stopped. I panted, looking for Jack. My vision was now blurry and black dots danced everywhere. My neck was throbbing, my hand felt numb and whenever I tried to move, it felt like my skin was pricked with thousands of needles non-stop. I heard a familiar chuckle.
"Jack-" I croaked, the pain that shot through my entire body didn't lessen, in fact, it becomes worse.
Jack took a step to me, but when he did, my body was on fire. I felt like I had been burning, and it was the same feeling when I burned in Dunbroch's castle. I screamed and trashed in agony, I'd do anything just to stop this pain. I'd do anything, anything at all. If what it takes was killing myself, I'd do it, as long as this pain won't come again.
"If you take a step towards her, she'll be in relentless pain," Pitch Black chuckled and the pain stopped. I panted, grateful that it was over.
"Jade!" Jack leaned his body towards my direction and before I knew it the burning fire came again. Again and again, I screamed in pain.
"Even if it was a milimetre, Jack. Even a milimetre." Pitch laughed and the pain stopped when I saw Jack taking a step backwards, cautious.
"Stay away from her or I'll kill you!" Jack shouted at him but Tooth held him back by his shoulder. I closed my eyes, waiting and praying that the pain won't come again, but yet, I knew it will.
"You wouldn't want me to kill her, would you?" Pitch whispered menacingly and the Guardians frowned.
"Please, no, don't hurt any of them..." I managed to say in between breaths. Pitch laughed at me.
The moment he laughed, I knew my time wouldn't be long.

For Nazli, the world is limited from her tribe to the Forbidden Valley. For Asadullah, the world is limitless and his for taking. ***"You should be honored that a man like I have taken such an interest in you!" Asadullah smirked, swirling his small handgun on his index finger. The green-eyed girl paled - her skin already porcelain white and quite different from any other he had seen in the country before. She was definitely beautiful even in her less than impressive rags. "Asadullah hardly makes such a generous offer." He said, liking the self-praise more than he wanted to admit. She shook her head - her dainty fingers wringing in her golden braid. Little Goldilocks. "Think again, little girl. The blood of your people will be on your hands." ***The setting is in Gilgit in a fictional valley called the Forbidden Valley. The image is not mine. The story and characters are.
