《Daughter of Mortis》Kenobi

They wasted little time returning to the base. The sun had already begun sinking, while they had been stuck in their visions. Tolsa had returned when they arrived. Ania quickly made her way over to Tolsa.

Tolsa raised an eyebrow. "What's wrong?"

"I'm going to Tatooine. Want to come?"

"Why are you going to Tatooine? And shouldn't you talk to Hera about this first?"

"I'm on my way to talk to her now but I thought I'd ask you now." Ania headed towards the command center. "Coming?" Tolsa nodded and caught up with her quickly. Ania spotted Ezra in the distance, headed in the same direction.

They stepped into the command center quietly. Hera, Kanan, and Kallus were there, but didn't look very busy. Hera noticed them and waved them over. "Did you need something?" She asked.

"Actually, yes," Ania began. Ezra ducked through the door and stood next to her. "I'm going to go to Tatooine for a while. I'm not sure how long, exactly."

Hera raised her eyebrows. "Tatooine? Why do you need to go there?"

"I specifically remember you saying you never wanted to go there again," Kanan pointed out.

"That's true, but I've been thinking about my Mortis issue and how to solve it. Ahsoka told me that Master Kenobi was on Mortis with her and Anakin Skywalker. I think he might be able to help me," Ania explained.

Hera nodded. "I can see where you're coming from, but why now?"

Ania glanced at Ezra. "With our connection strengthening and my visions becoming more frequent, I think I need help now. We actually had visions again today."

"About?" Kanan prompted.

"Mine were the same as normal," Ania said, shrugging. "Except for one part. The Emperor was going to kill me to resurrect the Son."

"Mine were the same too," Ezra said. "Just the things I saw last time."

"Do you think Master Kenobi might be able to help with that too?" Hera asked.

"Maybe. I'm not entirely sure," Ania replied. "I asked Tolsa to go with me but I haven't gotten an answer yet." They all turned to Tolsa.

"Will I be needed? Ania did say she wasn't sure how long she'd be gone," Tolsa said, crossing her arms.

Hera thought for a moment. "I think we'll be able to manage. Maybe we'll have Razzi take your place a few times. She's been begging to take a relief mission."

"I guess if there will be someone to cover for me, I'll go with. Maybe there's something Master Kenobi can teach me, too."

"Ok, then. If everything is settled, I think it would be good for the two of you to go." Hera looked at Kanan and Kallus. They both nodded. "When will you leave?"

"In the morning. I can't wait any longer than I have to." Ania looked to Tolsa for confirmation. The Twi'lek nodded her consent.

"All right. You can comm us if you need something," Hera said. Ania nodded and left the command center, with Ezra and Tolsa behind her.

Early the next morning, Tolsa and Ania boarded the Redemption, nearly before the sun had begun to appear. Tolsa prepped the engines as Ania gave Ezra a hug. He was the only one who had come. The others were preparing to leave for Lothal. Ania let go of him and stepped back.

"Watch out for Imperial patrols," Ezra said with a smirk. "I'd hate to come and rescue you."

Ania rolled her eyes. "We both know it would end up with me rescuing you."

Ezra nodded his head. "Yeah, you're probably right." He laughed, eyes glimmering. Tolsa rapped on the window, signaling Ania.

"That's my cue." Ania turned, then hesitated. She pressed a quick kiss to Ezra's cheek and ran on board the ship before he could respond. Tolsa smirked at her as she sat behind the controls. Ania began the take off process. Below them, Ezra waved a hand before turning back to the base.

They jettisoned the planet swiftly and completed the jump to hyperspace. Tolsa leaned back in her seat. "So what was it you said when we first joined the Rebels? No way, that will never happen, you'll understand when you meet him?"

Ania rolled her eyes but smiled. "Well, I've come to learn that half of what I say ends up being untrue."

"That's a bad habit. You should kick it." Tolsa leaned forward, resting her head in her hands. "So, what's your connection like?"

"It's strange. We don't know what all it enables us to do yet. So far, it seems like it links our psyche, let's us perform coordinated attacks flawless, and shows us visions." Ania flipped a few switches on the control panel. "You know, I kind of want to get a droid."

"Your link doesn't let you hear each other's thoughts, does it?"

"We haven't tested it that much. I tried something yesterday and it ended up giving us visions."

"Hm. Are you going to ask Master Kenobi about that?"

Ania nodded. "As well as a few other things."

"What kind of droid are you looking for?" Tolsa flipped a few switches as their lights flashed at her.

"Maybe an astromech? I like the older R units. I mainly want one to help out on the ship when I take solo missions and such, but I don't know if I'll end up buying one." Tolsa nodded understandingly.

"Do you know where we'll find Master Kenobi?" Tolsa asked a few minutes later.

"I've been thinking about that. I don't know exactly where he is, but I think the Force can lead me to him. When Ezra met him, they were somewhere in the desert, a ways away from Mos Eisley, I think. I figured we'd start there."

"Sounds like a good plan. I'm going to grab some food." Tolsa stood and left the cockpit.

Some time later, Ania dropped the ship out of hyperspace above the dusty planet. Ania activated the ships scanners and set it to pick up on any approaching vehicles or dust storms. They entered the planet's atmosphere and headed toward Mos Eisley.

"Are you planning to land in Mos Eisley?" Tolsa asked.

"No way. With the number of bounty hunters, smugglers, and not to mention stormtroopers that roam this dust bucket, that's the most likely way to lose your ship. We'll fly over Mos Eisley, get a feel for the place, and hopefully sense Master Kenobi somewhere." Tolsa nodded her agreement.

They did a quick sweep over Mos Eisley, but Ania sensed nothing out of the ordinary. She made sure to get out of sight of the town, before turning. Hopefully no one would suspect them and come to investigate. She set the ship down.

"What are you doing?" Tolsa raised an eyebrow.

"I'm going to sense Master Kenobi. As soon as I find him, I'll try to direct us there. You'll have to fly."

"All right." Tolsa's words sounded skeptical, but she grabbed the controls anyway.

Ania sat back in her seat, letting herself relax. She pulled the Force around her and let it carry her across the sandy planet. Help me find him, she thought.

He is here, the Daughter replied. Ania let the Force pull her along to a small hut in the middle of nowhere. Only one other home was nearby, but not close enough to walk there. The Force drew her inside the hut. An older man sat on a bed, head in his hands. She watched him curiously.

The man looked up suspiciously. Ania caught a hint of fear in his blue gaze. It is he, the Daughter said. Ania nodded and drew herself back in. She blinked her eyes open in the Redemption. Tolsa was already headed in the right direction.

"Did I say something?" Ania asked, somewhat confused.

"Your mouth tends to run when you're joined with the Force," Tolsa replied. "Sometimes it's rather funny." They flew for a while, passing over a dome shaped house on a moisture farm. A kid below waved a hand as they passed over.

They drew closer to Master Kenobi's home. "Land over here in that cave," Ania directed. "We'll go in on foot."

Tolsa nodded and set the ship down. They landed inside a large cave carved from stone walls of sand burned wind. Dunes drifted over the cave, but it would keep the sand from reaching the ship if there was a storm. Together, they disembarked. The ground here was more rocky than sandy, but Ania could still feel the wind brush sand past her face. She looked at a mound of freshly dug dirt, covered in rocks. An echo of a terrible evil clung to the rocks. On the makeshift headstone, one word was carved. Ania shuddered.

The older man stepped out of his hut as they approached. "Who are you and what do you want?" He called out.

"Are you Obi Wan Kenobi?" Tolsa asked, not bothering to answer his questions. Ania cleared her throat, signaling Tolsa. They stopped a few feet away from the man.

"I'm Ania Bonteri and this is Tolsa Lee," Ania said. "We've come for your help."

Obi Wan sighed. "I told Ezra Bridger that I won't join the fight against the Empire."

"That's...not why we're here Master Kenobi," Ania glanced at Tolsa. "We've come to ask for your training."

"My training?" Obi Wan raised an eyebrow.

"Yes, Master. My powers aren't very strong and the Jedi who has been helping me can't teach me anymore, because of my limited abilities. I was hoping there would be something you could help me with, or tell me if I've learned all I can," Tolsa explained. "Although I think Ania's request is a little more pressing."

Obi Wan turned to Ania again, looking her over. "You seem very familiar. Did you say your last name was Bonteri? As in the Bonteri family of Onderon?"

Ania nodded. "My father was Lux Bonteri. You knew him, although you knew my mother even better."

Obi Wan smiled. "Your mother was Ahsoka Tano, wasn't she?"

Ania smiled too. "Yes, Master."

Obi Wan nodded slowly. "I will help the two of you as a favor to her. What do you need help with, Ania?"

Ania sighed. "This." She closed her eyes and let the Daughter surface. "Hello, Master Kenobi. It has been a while," the Daughter's voice said, layered over Ania.

Obi Wan's eyes grew wide. "Is that..."

"The Daughter, one of the Force Wielders of Mortis? Yes. She manifested inside of me. Something is changing. I lose control more easily and am constantly having visions. I was hoping you would be able to tell me how to fix whatever is happening to me. Sometimes only the Daughter speaks through me but other times, I hear another voice too," Ania explained.

Obi Wan opened his mouth to reply, but a distant howling sound interrupted him. "Come inside, quickly. The Tuskens are moving and I hear a sand storm approaching. Is your ship locked down?"

"Yes, sir."

Obi Wan nodded approvingly. "Good." He opened the door to his hut and motioned for the girls to come inside. He glanced out once more, grabbing a pair of monoculars and looking into the distance, before closing the door. "Well," he said at last. "It appears we have work to do."
