Dylan knew that it was over. They had their fairytale time, but reality kicked in and he didn't know if he could manage it. He'd gotten so used to seeing her face multiple times a day that now not seeing it would make his day plain. He was no longer going to be able to just randomly see her in a cafe, or a bistro, or sit with her on their bench. 

That was over. They'd closed the last page of that book and it was time to write another, but the pen in his hands was shaking and he didn't know what to write. He was scared because the two of them had said their goodbyes and he was scared that maybe there was nothing left to write, that maybe their story ended with the last page of the book. 

Despite everything, goodbyes aren't forever. Goodbyes aren't promises, or curses - they're just words, and words don't have any power over us. It's, despite everything, up to us to take the pen into our hands and write the story of our lives, even if the goodbyes had already been said and the last page read. 

The only rule is that we never stop writing because our hand is shaking.
