《SWEATER WEATHER | dylan sprayberry [✓]》66; you're the brightest of them all

It was just about to be seven, and Ellie still hadn't shown up. Frankly, Dylan was a little more than concerned. He hoped nothing had happened to her, and mainly that she'll actually come. Even though he knew she was mostly late wherever she went – she smiled at the memory of her telling him, less than twenty four hours ago – he was still scared something was wrong.

Because hell, this had to be perfect.

He was sitting on their bench, feeling – well, stupid. People were passing him by, and some fans even asked him to give them some autographs. He just wanted them away, no matter how rude that was – fans were totally nice and everything, but he didn't really want them to be around when he was with Ellie. It wasn't like they spent every day together, after those short three days they probably won't be able to see each other for at least one year.

Dylan sighed as he looked around one more time – there was no sign of Ellie. Even though it was 6:58 last time he checked, around fifteen seconds ago, he was scared she wouldn't come – but that's plainly ridiculous. There was no reason for him to worry, and he was just acting like a hormonal teenage girl waiting for her boyfriend.

The brown haired boy shook his head with a small smile on his face, running his fingers through his hair; he found it funny that his mind compared him and Ellie to a couple, with opposite genders. Though, they were internet pals, as his beloved sister Ellery liked to make fun of them. From what he'd seen over the internet, people who had internet friends and met them were the happiest – at least that's what he was trying to convince himself into.

His eyes flew to his hand watch, convincing him it was few seconds till the full hour, and Ellie still hadn't come. But he knew she'd come – she had never let him down, had she?

Just as his hand reached into his pocket to get his phone out, he saw a small figure heading his way. It wasn't hard for Eleanor Oswald to stand out, even from a fifty-feet distance – she was wearing a caramel dress with chocolate brown polka dots that was cut right under her knees, and it was swinging as she walked; her hair was hanging low, shining brightly on the sun in natural waves.

Seeing her completely natural brought a smile onto his face – what he really liked about her was that she wore minimal makeup. From this distance he couldn't really see if this was the case again, but he was almost hundred percent sure it was. Ellie just wouldn't change for a guy – especially for a friend.

As she approached even closer, he noticed her legs – she wore some ridiculous chocolate brown Dr. Martens, and they moved somewhat even more ridiculously. It took him a second to realize the blonde was actually dancing, with earphones shoved into her ears, connected to the phone in her hands. She was jumping a little, swinging her head in the rhythm only she was able to hear.

"Dylan!" Ellie shouted once she noticed the boy sitting on the bench, cupping her hands around her mouth.

Since Dylan saw no need for yelling across the park, he just waved at her with a smile, getting up from the bench. She waved back energetically, grinning widely. For a second she reminded Dylan of some really, really happy kid.

"Sorry I'm late," Ellie began as she walked over to him, "My mum suddenly decided to go on a rant about strangers, and Elinor was telling me this" – she motioned at her outfit, slightly out of breath – "doesn't match, that I look like an idiot, and she was giving me some stupid heels, and mum was looking at me angrily, like, I don't even know what's wrong with her, she was fine with me being with you yesterday! And Elinor, she just – she watches Teen Wolf occasionally, and she knows who you are, and she wanted me to – ugh, never mind that, Elinor's just really annoying and she's the reason I'm late, like I—"

"Ellie, shut up, it's okay." Dylan was barely restraining himself from laughing – heck, he was grinning at her. She didn't even take her earphones out and she was already talking. "Um, you're listening to 5 Seconds of Summer?"

"Yeah, they're my favourite band! How did you know?" The poor girl's face looked as if it was about to explode from smiling.

Dylan shook his head at her, sighing. "I'm pretty sure I can hear She Looks So Perfect blasting through your earphones."

For a short moment confusion ruled her face, before she burst into a fit of laughter, taking her earphones off. "I didn't even – oh my gosh I'm so stupid!"

"It's okay," Dylan laughed. They started walking around the park – or at least that's what he wanted Ellie to think. He was actually leading them to their destination. "By the way, I think Elinor was wrong about those Martens. You don't look ridiculous."

The blonde smiled at him, looking down at her feet. "Thanks. I told her they were okay." There were a few seconds of comfortable silence, before Ellie opened her mouth again, "So, where are we going? And why was I forced to wear a dress?"

"Why do you say it like it's a bad thing?"

Ellie shot him a glare – well, more of a 'duh' look – and crossed her arms on her chest. "Dresses are annoying. Like, there's nothing on your legs and it just feels weird. I'm used to tight jeans, or leggings, not nothing. They're just weird. Like, weird. Odd. Unusual. Unnatural. Weird."

"Well do you like wearing this one?" Dylan questioned, rising his eyebrows. She looked comfortable and relaxed, and from what she'd just told him she didn't usually feel relaxed. And he partially asked that because he'd totally send her home to get changed if she didn't feel relaxed – he wanted her to be completely natural and comfortable with him.

Her fingers went through her hair and she casually tucked a strand behind her ear, shrugging. "Yeah, I guess – but it's only this one."

That was enough for Dylan to grin at her. "I win at life."

She playfully raised her left eyebrow at him, smirking. "You win at night, not at life, assbutt."

Her choice of words surprised him, but didn't stop him from casually putting an arm around her shoulders, shaking his head. "That's not good, my sweetheart, not good. You see, the night is the life – everything's more alive during nights than days, supporting my statement. Everything good happens during nights, so do stars come out and shine their light on us, small creatures in among billions and billions of stars. And you, you are the brightest of them all."

Frankly, watching Ellie's facial expression change from confused to utterly embarrassed was definitely highlight of Dylan's day so far. Her pale cheeks had become a very deep shade of pink, and he felt she tensed under his touch on her shoulders.

"That's so not cool, Dylan Muse Sprayberry."
