When Dylan sent her a message to look up, Eleanor Oswald had many things stream through her head. But, however, none of them had actually prepared her for what she was supposed to see, because – let's be honest here – seeing her texting pal in flesh and blood standing just a mere ten feet from her was something she definitely did not expect.
But he was here. His messy brown hair, his big blue eyes, his cheeky nose, his curvy lips, his short feature – it was all here. Right in front of her. Yet, she couldn't believe her eyes. Could you?
It couldn't be more than a moment since she looked up; but it felt like ages, literally. Her phone she had previously been texting Dylan fell onto the table, and she didn't even notice. Her hands were as if made of stone, staying mid-air while she was staring blankly at the boy in front of her.
Dylan, on the other hand, seemed to be frozen in his smile and confusion. His lips were curved in a small smile, but it seemed like he was too happy for his face to show his emotions. His phone lay still in his hands, his thumbs still on the screen. But his eyes were fixed at the blonde sitting in front of him.
Neither of them made a move. Neither of them noticed the entire bistro was looking at them, waiting for them to do something – anything. Neither of them noticed the blonde boy beside Dylan smirking at them, looking from one to another. He was smirking widely, because he exactly knew the amount of happiness and excitement his friend was feeling right now.
Mason coughed dramatically, resulting in everyone in the bistro – now including his friend and his texting pal – looking at him, knowing it was his turn. He leaned forward, over the table, and shook Ellie's hand firmly, smiling at her. "Hello Ellie, I'm Mason. Nice to meet you." Her hand was still frozen, though she tightened the grip as she wrapped his fingers around his in a handshake.
The blonde girl smiled, thought it was barely visible. She blinked several times, her eyes flying to the boy in front of her – the blonde one. She could recognize him without himself introducing. "Mason Dye," she stuttered in shock, "I'm...Ellie. It's...it's nice to meet you too."
Although Mason had been used to fans stuttering when meeting him – and he very well knew Ellie was a big fan – he couldn't help but laugh at the girl. "Sorry," he immediately apologized, taking a seat across her, "I didn't mean to laugh, it's just – you look exactly how Dyl described you, and it's funny."
But Ellie didn't hear his words. She was looking at the boy who was standing and smiling at her, then gathered enough strength and self-confidence to smile at him. "Hey," she whispered weakly, suddenly feeling embarrassed.
This wasn't how she wanted to meet him. She was wearing clothes too stupid for him – her damn pink hat was on her head! Her hair was messy, mascara was all of the makeup she was currently wearing, she was sure she had pieces of the burger she was eating around her mouth – she looked absolutely and utterly stupid and terrifying.
"Hey," Dylan replied back, blinking rapidly, before his smile grew wide enough to touch his blue eyes.
"Hey," the blonde repeated, immediately looking down at her phone that was laying on the table, her and Dylan's messages still open. She closed them slowly, being careful not to look up – her cheeks redden with each moment, and she let her hair fall around her face.

There was a silence, before people in the bistro started talking to each other, forgetting about what they'd just witnessed. But the table in the corner was silent, as two boys and one girl refused to look at each other. Ellie was feeling extremely awkward for acting like a stupid girl, Dylan was just trying to pick what to tell her, and Mason was just trying not to laugh at the other two.
Actually, he felt the need to start talking about the burger Ellie was eating when they came because this was starting to become very awkward. "So, uh, this burger...is it good?" He pointed at Ellie's burger with his index finger.
The blonde rose her chin and looked at Mason, nodding briefly. "It's tasty."
Mason smiled, because he had gotten something from her. From what Dylan had told him about the blonde, she wasn't awkward – no, wait, she was awkward around new people, or something like that. But Ellie seemed like a funny girl, and he hoped that once he gets out of their way she might talk to Dylan normally – he thought he was the problem.
Though, he couldn't leave while the two weren't talking. He was a good friend, and – although he actually may or may not have been thinking about it – will not leave his friend to embarrass himself.
"How you doin'?" he asked Ellie, shifting on the seat and making himself more comfortable. He knew Dylan was watching him from the corner of his eye.
"Fine," Ellie replied. She then took a deep breath and smiled, removing those strands of hair that had previously fallen out from her braid. "Pretty good, actually, thanks for asking. LA's a really wonderful town, and I gotta admit I wish I had Sharkey's in Princeton, but, you know, it's too small to have one." She shrugged sadly, before biting into her burger.
"I thought Dylan said you lived in Canada," Mason stated, though with a question mark at the end. He was glad to see that the blonde had relaxed a little.
The Oswald girl nodded, swallowing the last pieces of her burger. "Yep. There's Princeton in Canada, but it's got like two thousand citizens and people don't really know about it. It's all cool, though, because I know most of my neighbors. It's better than people going to your hometown every single day, like they do here, and basically you can't walk around in your pajamas."
"You did that?" Mason laughed, and shook his head.
"Once," Ellie replied with a huge grin. "I was supposed to visit my friend and it was three a.m., I think, and basically I forgot I had my pajamas on. But no one minded, seriously. And don't ask me why I went to visit my friend at three in the morning because I myself don't know."
Mason buried his hand in his hands and laughed loudly, while Ellie continued to eat her burger and stare at Dylan – who was, for your information, staring at her with his mouth hanging wide open – with a smug smirk.
"What's up with you, a—Dylan?" she asked, cocking her head to the side. She wanted to say assbutt, but it was their thing – stupid, yeah, but she didn't want Mason to hear it. "You're too quiet for your own good."
Actually, although Ellie seemed really relaxed and 'chill', she was far from that. She silently thanked God for her acting skills, because if it weren't for them, she'd be literally panicking right now.

Dylan fucking Sprayberry was right in front of her. The person she'd been texting with for last four weeks, one of her favorite actors, someone who was on Teen Wolf. He was her crush, he was everything she could think about practically from the moment she had seen him acting on Teen Wolf and decided to learn everything possible about.
Right when Ellie was about to mutter some lame excuse and get the hell out of the bistro, Dylan stopped acting like a jerk and stopped grinning at her – or in the lack of a better description, his mouth wasn't hanging open anymore. He gave Mason one look, before turning his head to Ellie and smiling.
"Hey, Ellie."
When he finally spoke in a normal tone, Ellie felt as if her heart was about to explode. And let me tell you, it was no exaggeration – the loud thumps in her chest, the beat in her head, it was all completely real. And soon enough she found herself grinning like a child on Christmas.
"What's up?" She forced herself to remain completely calm and chill, and finished her burger.
"The ceiling, I think," Dylan replied with a grin, causing both of his friend to roll their eyes. "Fine, I'm fine. You?"
"Eatin'," Ellie replied with a smirk, winking at the boy. Frankly, she had no freaking idea what she was doing, but she let the intuition lead her through this crap she had found herself in. "Seriously, when you tweeted about Sharkey's I never thought they were this good. Like, their food is heaven. Literally. And they're just across the street. I mean, how amazing is that? This is awesome. Totally awesome. I'm not even kidding, I'm enjoying this way too much."
She was well aware of the fact she was rambling too much for her own good, not enjoyed the food – though that wasn't far from the truth. It wasn't like she didn't talk a lot in other situations, it was just this time she talked a lot about nothing, basically.
Oh, she's such an idiot.
"I'm glad you liked it, because they're really good," Dylan agreed with a smile. He leaned forward, put his elbows on the table and rested his chin on his hands.
"Yep." Ellie didn't know what else to say.
Obviously, she wasn't the only one who realized the rising amount of awkwardness between the trio – actually, between the texting pals. Mason was just sitting there and watching their conversation, restraining himself from rolling his eyes – he had never ever before felt the need to roll his eyes so many times in five minutes; the two were completely ridiculous.
"Hey, guys?" Mason called, drawing the attention to himself. "You're idiots. You were waiting weeks to meet each other and you're talking about burgers?" He let out an annoyed sigh before sending each of them an annoyed glare, although he didn't know Ellie really well – oh, screw it, he knew her just as much as Dylan did because the kid wouldn't shut up about her the last five days.
As he got no reaction from any of them, he groaned. "Get up," he rushed, jumping onto his feet. "Get up!"
Both of them got up, looking confused – it was the first time Mason ordered them what to do, and neither of them – especially Ellie – weren't used to it. "You guys waited so long, you're so not going to talk about burgers. So get your asses out to this beautiful Cali day and I'll leave you alone. Just freaking do something!"
Ellie ran her fingers through her hair nervously, her pink hat falling onto the floor. She was looking at Mason with doubt, before bowing down and picking her hat up, holding it close to her chest. She looked over at Dylan, who was staring at his feet. Frankly, Mason felt like he randomly picked two strangers to talk to each other, not good friends. And he also felt like he was a father to those two, trying to make them talk after a bad fight.
He felt like a father. And those two were just a few years younger – and he wasn't ready to be a father.
"Okay," Ellie then said, a small smile appearing on her face. She looked at Dylan, and smiled a bit wider. "We'll talk about something that isn't burgers."
Mason nodded, crossing his arms on his chest. He rose an eyebrow at his friend, waiting for him to say something.
"No burgers talk," Dylan finally said, sighing.
The blonde boy knew how much it took for Dylan not to hug Ellie right there and then, most likely pushing air out of her lungs considering his muscle mass. He knew Dylan was just trying to stay calm, while he was panicking on the inside and everything, but Mason was aware that if he doesn't start talking to Ellie soon, she'd leave – it was no strange to see that Ellie was feeling awkward as well.
"Fine guys." After a long moment of watching the two friends, Mason hugged Dylan and walked away, hoping Dylan wouldn't embarrass himself – or at least, more that he already did.
Ellie and Dylan watched Mason turning behind the corner, neither of them saying anything. The tension and awkwardness between them was too tangible for any of them's liking.
Not knowing what to do, Ellie tucked her hands into her pockets, looking around awkwardly – actually, anywhere but at Dylan. "I'm starting to think Mason was kidding," she began awkwardly, "It's not a usual Cali day. I mean, it's not even sunny. It should be sunny in Cali, not cloudy. I never thought I'd be wearing long sleeves – well, sort of – and now I am. I'm wearing long sleeves to Cali, oh my god. I realize now why you were wearing a sweater the other day, I mean, it's damn weird."
She knew how stupid she sounded, rambling like an idiot, but she also knew if she didn't speak they would just stand there, looking away. So basically, she was going for all or nothing.
"Yeah, you're right," Dylan then said, smiling at her. "Mason was joking. It shouldn't be like this in Cali, but it's okay. Sometimes we need to relax from sun, so we don't get on fire." He laughed, burying his face in his hands. "I'm so sorry, this was a totally bad joke, oh my god!"
But Ellie only shook her head and genuinely laughed. "No, it was okay."
Dylan made space between his index and middle finger and his eye peaked from it. "Was it?"
The blonde rolled her eyes at him, tucking her hands even deeper in the pockets. "You're like a kid," she said playfully, winking at him. She was trying hard to forget they had practically just met, and he was a popular actor. Actually, speaking of which... "How come bunch of girls aren't following you around?"
He only shrugged, looking around as if expecting for girls to show themselves. "LA's a big city, and I'm not actually so popular."
"You? Not popular?"
"Yeah," Dylan grinned, "but sometimes fans get out of nowhere. Rarely, though. You know."
"No, actually I don't," Ellie stated and rolled her eyes again.
There was a minute of silence between the two, though much less tense and awkward than the first one. It was just weird for Ellie – she thought she'd meet him in some café on agreed time, not so...well, spontaneously.
"We should get going," Dylan noted, and Ellie realized people were bypassing them to get into the bistro, since they were standing on the entrance.
"Yeah," she agreed and they started walking. "Where are we going? I should tell my mom..."
"Um, there's a park around the corner..." Dylan tailed off, unsure of what to say. He didn't want this to sound like a date, but he also didn't want it to sound like she's inviting a stranger to sit with him on the bench.
"Good idea. I'll text my mom."
Ellie took her phone out and her fingers slid across the screen, whilst Dylan was watching her. Her pink hat wasn't on her head, but in her right hand – she was texting with left thumb. He vividly remembered when she had told him she was left-handed, when she broke her thumb. Speaking of which, Dylan wasn't sure but it seemed to still be slightly bigger that supposed to.
After she was done, they spent a few minutes talking about random stuff while walking towards the park. A lot of benches were taken, either by couples or homeless people, or just people who wanted to relax a bit. On their way to probably one of the last few remaining free benches, they had passed three dogs and Ellie patted each of them, lively chatting with their owners.
"I miss Beau," she told him when they finally sat down, looking distantly at a dog that ran past them. "I haven't seen her in almost twenty four hours, it feels weird."
"It's just twenty four hours." Dylan was surprised. He had never had a so strong relationship with his dog that he'd miss it after twenty four hours, so he assumed he simply didn't understand.
"She's twelve, and I remember getting her." She smiled at the memory she was reliving. "She was so small and fluffy, barely two months old. She licked my face, and then jumped into my arms. We're best friends, like really. Sometimes I wish I could get another dog, that would stay two months old forever."
Dylan smiled at Ellie, nodding. "Yeah. Dogs are cute."
The blonde shot him a glare, "Dogs are utterly and completely adorable."
"Okay, utterly and completely adorable, don't kill me," he joked, raising his hands in the air in defeat.
"I'd never kill you, assbutt." Ellie chuckled, shaking her head.
"Assbutt," he repeated. The smile on his face grew wider as she looked up at him, a small smile dancing on her dark pink lips. "You called me assbutt."
