《Alpha (under construction - rewrite)》Chapter Sixteen

The person standing in the mirror was the picture of grace and elegance.

The long white gown clung to her every curve, and a secret slit was hidden beneath the folds that would expose her legs had she made one wrong move.

Spaghetti straps held the dress up, but if they snapped it would be a pool of silk up on the floor.

A glow emitted from her skin and her hair tumbled down her back in carefully arranged curls.

A wash of colour was upon her face making her look flushed and her eyes wide due to a the mascara.

Her lips were plump with the beautiful rose gloss that had been applied not moments ago.

She was beautiful.

But she wasn't me.

Lovella came up behind me in a gown similar to mine, but in a deep crimson, it had been our mothers. She looked stunning but her face was grim.

She hugged me and I continued to stare into the mirror willing myself to be somewhere else, anywhere else, somewhere with Ajax.

My heart clenched at the thought of him, I hadn't known him long but the love I had for him had been like we had been together for an eternity.

The door opening shook me out of my thoughts and Corazon stepped inside, Valentina followed closely behind.

They both wore similar gowns to me, except Corazon's was a light pink and Valentina's a stunning emerald.

My sisters.

I opened up my arms and they ran to me, they were just as upset as I was. In a cruel twist of fate, our grandfather had decided that tonight he would rid himself of all his wards, meaning that the battle would not only occur for me, but for my three sisters as well.

A maid entered the room, her expression one of apology. "It is time."

It was dark, not night but as if a storm was brewing. We were placed in a jeep and driven to a remote place.

We tumbled out of the car. Landing on the grass. One of the guards shoved us forward and we began to walk on a concrete path.

I struggled as my legs shook in fear, I looked around for an escape but the guards had surrounded us in a tight circle.

I looked over to Valentina who's eyes were wide and red and my heart hurt for her, she was only fourteen and she had to go through this. It wasn't right. I took her hand in mine and gave it a reassuring squeeze.

She gave me a small smile to show me she was okay, but I didn't let go of her hand. Instead I moved closer to her.

Loud noises began to sound and my head snapped us. A crowd of men stood before us, all rowdy and hungry. For what I didn't want to think about.

My grandfather stood before us and grabbed Valentina, who screamed in shock, from my hands. I tried to keep hold of her but she was gone before I had realised what was happening.

He held her hand up and men began to dye forward. A total of seven stood before her, all older, far too old for my sweet sister. Then an eighth man stepped forward. He looked younger than the others, perhaps he was a teen. He was extremely handsome and smiled towards my sister who simply looked back at him in dazed shock.

The eighth man stepped forward along with the first and they faced each other. The young man gave a cocky smirk whilst the older one gave a growl. He lunged for the young man shifting into a wolf in the process. My heart stopped, but somehow the young man jumped out of the way and changes into a wolf. He went for the older one's hind leg causing the wild to stumble. The young one, who's black fur was beginning to turn red from the blood of the older wolf's leg, jerked his head breaking the leg. The wolf fell causing the young one to go for his throat making the wolf fall to his knees. He finally howled to my grandfather, who looked rather disappointed, in submission.

The young man had won.

After this every other man who had volunteered for Valentina faded back into the crowd, unwilling to fight the monster.

He shifted back and had the decency to cover his nakedness whilst someone fetched him a pair of sweats.

He smiled and ran up to Valentina and swung her over his shoulder running of into the distance. My grandfather had a scowl up on his face and I tired to escape the guards to go after Valentina. But they would not relent and a feeling of despair washed over me.

Corazon was up next and a similar thing happened for her to. Five men stepped forward and then the sixth a couple of seconds later. The sixth man was good looking and looked around my age. He wasn't as cocky as the first man but he throughly beat two of the participants before the others escaped.

Now it was my turn and 6 men stood forward, the seventh a little later. His face was scruffy and long hair covered most of it. He shifted before I could see anymore and then he proceeded to conquer four wolves before the rest gave up.

He stopes forward to claim his price and his touch seemed oddly familiar. I saw a fight occurring for Lovella from this man's shoulder and I prayed she would be okay.

I could no longer hold my emotions and felt myself tearing up. A loud sob escaped me and the man stopped suddenly putting me down on the ground. I felt other presences but couldn't bring myself to look at them.

The man before me wiped away my tears and I looked at him, really looked at him. He pushed his hair back and smiled.

"Ajax."
