《The Alphas Secret Mate》Chapter Thirteen:

Tate's POV

It had been two days since Christopher had been put in the cell. Scott and I had been killing time training with Braxton and some of the other pack warriors. My mind had been so preoccupied with the plan. How I was going to handle Christopher. It was also filled with thoughts of Hadley.

This plan had to work. If I couldn't get the information I needed how could I guarantee that I was even able to protect her. I felt responsible for not having been able to keep her safe. It would only get worse if she accepted the role as our packs luna, as my mate.

A knock on the door broke away my thoughts as Scott came in.

"Ready to get this over with?" he asked.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" I asked him.

"I have to do this," his hands clenched the door so hard they started to turn white.

We made our way to Darren's office where he and Braxton were waiting. No other pack members would know the information that was found behind these walls. That was a part of the agreement that Darren and I had come to.

"Braxton go grab Christopher. Were ready," Darren ordered.

We stood there waiting patiently in silence. I could hear the sound of the shackles as Braxton and Christopher made the way to the office.

Braxton shoved Christopher down into the chair and tied him again for safe measure. He looked a lot worse than he had two days ago. His face was healed but the blood crusted to his clothes and face told me he had been beaten.

"Are you ready to make a deal with me then?" Christopher asked with that small wicked smile.

"We are prepared to listen to your request in exchange for the information you claim to have," Darren said.

Scott stood in the corner silent, the rage was pouring off of him and filling the room.

"If I make a deal I need to be sure that all of your members are in agreement," Christopher nodded towards Scott.

"Just tell us what you want," Scott spat.

"You know I have information on your half breed and that I know who sired her,"

"Why should we care who sired her," I asked, trying to show no emotion.

"Who her father is affects multiple packs. There is a very good reason why rogues of all people have come together for him to capture her," Christopher went on.

I focused on my breathing. Willing my wolf to stay calm and fight the urge to rip Christopher's throat.

"What. Do. You. Want." Scott said getting angrier by the second.

Christopher stared at Scott as he named his price. "I want immunity. I want you to call off your trackers from hunting me. I don't wish to return but I don't want to have to watch over my shoulder for the rest of my life. I want a blood oath that no one in either of your packs will seek to harm me in any way,".

I stood there debating what Christopher was asking for. I knew he would want his freedom. Scott was glaring at me and had moved away from the corner of the room.

"You can't seriously be debating this right now!" Scott shouted. "After everything he's done to our pack! To Devin Tate! She has been loyal to you your entire lives! How do you think she'll feel if she finds out you let him go!" His face was right up in mine.

"There is a lot more at stake than just Devin. We have the future to think about and the safety of our pack!" I used my Alpha voice at Scott but he refused to back down.

"Tate I swear to the goddess if you do this I am out. Devin and I will leave the pack,"

I contemplated my choices carefully in my head. Before turning to Scott. "You should understand as my third the choices that I have to make to do what is best for my pack. Take your personal feelings out of this,"

Christopher sat in the chair, his smile widening with each blow of words. I let one of my wolf's claws through and carved into the palm of my hand, drawing out a small pool of blood.

"I will agree to your request. But mark my words if you bring any further harm to my pack then I will kill you," I said to Christopher.

"Do you agree to the terms Darren?" Christopher asked.

"I do."

"Are you kidding me!" Scott shouted.

"Say it," Christopher said to me.

"I Tate Lockwood Alpha of the Atlas Pack make a blood oath with you that no one from my pack will cause you any harm. You will be granted immunity in exchange for the information you possess. If I am to break my oath then I accept the consequences of my death," I said.

Christopher sliced his own palm and shook my hand sealing the deal. Darren moved forward to make the oath for his own pack.

"You betrayed Devin. We will never forgive you for this," Scott said shoving me.

"Learn your place delta" I growled.

"No. I, Scott severe myself from the Atlas Pack and will take on the life of a rogue,".

"You don't want to do this Scott" I said.

"Oh but I do" He snarled. With that I felt the ties break. My mind was no longer linked to Scott. He stormed out of the room.

"So weak that one. Never able to make the difficult choices," Christopher said as he shook Darren's hand.

"What is the information that just cost me my delta," I said.

"Alpha Nolan of Fenris Moon Pack wants to take the half breed and mark her as his own mate," Christopher said casually.

My blood froze and my wolf was ready to go straight to Fenris Moon and end Nolan.

"Why would he want to do that?" Braxton asked.

"Because of who she is. Who she is sired from and what it can give Nolan,". His sinister smile grew as he dragged out the conversation.

"You have the blood oath so get to the point Christopher," I said.

"Your half breed is from royal blood. Alpha blood to be specific," Christopher went on.

"Which Alpha?" Darren asked.

"You know I'm surprised Tate that you didn't catch the family resemblance. Although I will say Hadley took more of her mother's traits. Hadley's father is Alpha Warren" Christopher said reveling in our reactions.

Darren and I froze and we exchanged glances with each other. That's when I noticed it. They were similar. The hair color was nearly the same shade. Eyes too although Hadley had more green in hers then Darren.

"That's impossible," Darren said.

"Your father met her mother before he met his mate. He didn't even realize he fathered the child. Your sister. Well half sister. When the shift is activated her wolf and scent will all but give it away," Christopher said.

"Why does Nolan want her as his mate," I asked. To force a claim on someone who was not your own mate against their will, I shuddered at the thought. Arranged marriages happened but rarely. They were always met with scandal especially if one of them ended up finding their mate afterwards.

"Nolan wants to expand. He's made promises to the rogues. With Hadley as his mate he will be able to take claim to Blood Bane pack as his own. Since your borders touch he essentially would have doubled the size of his pack. Since she's currently in Atlas Pack he could also try to use that to over run you Tate," Christopher smiled.

My mind was racing. My body had gone tense and rigid. Christopher didn't seem to know that Hadley was my mate, which meant hopefully that neither did Nolan. It needed to stay that way.

Christopher turned so he was talking directly to Darren. "Your sister well half sister technically has as much claim to this pack as you do as its alpha,". Darren looked furious but he held his composure.

"Now that I have held up my end of the deal it is your turn. Unchain me and I'll be on my way," Christopher said, raising his hands up towards us smiling.

Darren nodded to Braxton signalling him to unchain Christopher. Braxton got out the key and released him.

"Glad we got to have this chat," Christopher said. He headed to the door opening it. "I do look forward to our next meeting. Let's hope it's as equally exciting"

Christopher froze. His eyes had widened with shock before he collapsed to the floor. Standing behind him. Scott threw Christophers heart to the floor.

"I would like to be reinstated to the Atlas Pack" Scott said looking at me.

"With pleasure," I smiled at Scott. I slowly felt the bond and link snap back into place.

"Who knew Scott over here could act so well," Braxton said smacking Scott on the back.

"We need to think about what we're going to do about Nolan," Darren said. "Do you think he was telling the truth about her. About Hadley," his face was glum.

"I do," I said, meeting his gaze.

"Nolan can't get his hands on her; she needs to be guarded. I will be bringing her to Blood Bane," Darren said.

My heart stopped at the thought of Hadley leaving. "She will make any decision herself you don't get to just grab her against her will. She needs to know first she has a right to choose," I said.

"Then I am coming back with you," Darren said.

"Fine. I will let them know," I said, pulling out my phone. My screen was covered in missed calls from West. I dialed him back immediately.

"Tate. Check your phone more often! " West said.

"What happened? Is Hadley ok?" I asked frantically.

"Hale broke in. I don't know how he got past our border and into the house. Hadley shifted. She killed him. Well we killed him." West was more frantic than me as he blurted on the phone.

"She's a full wolf now?" I asked in disbelief.

"She is. You and Scott need to get back here quickly. Devin was hurt but she'll be ok,"

"I'll be there by tomorrow night. We have to finish things here first" I said to West although it killed my wolf to not go to her now.

"West," I paused. "West, Christopher is dead,"

"How?" he asked.

"Scott killed him," I said cautiously into the phone looking at Scott.

"Good. I will see you tomorrow," West said, hanging up the phone.
