Chapter III

The palace was anything but ordinary. Every suite I looked into as we pasted, an artist from all generations, was that room's theme. When we made it to mine, I finally understood why they referred to it as the Michelangelo suite. A mural of his famous "The Last Judgment" painting covered the ceiling. The walls were a blue gray slate color, and the floors were still the same marble that laid in the rest of the castle. A giant white framed bed sat in the middle of the room. The post ascended about 8 feet before they were all connected with gold fabric. They covered the bed in silk white sheets with a blue quilt folded neatly on the foot. What took me by surprise the most was the white double doors leading to a balcony.

As I moved towards the doors, Esme spoke. "King Legacy has an undying love for art."

That is something I could definitely see. I certainly respected it. "I see. What does the balcony overlook?"

She seemed to map out the rooms and the outside area in her head. "I believe the Royal Garden, Miss Everly." She then clapped her hands together, almost like she wanted my attention on something else. "I will be back in an hour to collect you. The King and Queen request you then."

I nod in understanding as my lips curl together, "Thank you, Esme."

She gave me a smile before heading out, closing the door behind her.

Esme was around my age, but seemed so much more mature than me. I was merely just a little girl compared to her. I should have been taking notes on her mannerism and body language to prepare for what comes next.

For what comes next? Shit! What am I going to wear?

Celeste, my wolf, echoed in my head. She had been silent this entire time, probably, so I did not lose my mind dealing with all this, plus her snide comments.

I rolled my eyes at her as I unzipped my suitcase.

Of course she would say that about this wonderful place. She was more into cottages and outhouses. It surprised me that the Moon Goddess paired us together, considering our differences. On the contrary, she was just as head-strong as I was. We both held goals and are very determined to stick with them.

When I pulled the dress and shoes out she suggested. It pleasantly surprised me how well they looked together.

She just rolled her own eyes and went back to her little haven in our mind.

In a hurry, I grabbed all my supplies and threw myself together in the bathroom. My long brown hair was perfectly straight, my face was perfectly covered in makeup and my body was perfectly covered by a navy blue sundress. The dress held a V neckline that stopped right where my breast began. It fitted comfortably against my body until the waist where it flowed out. Ultimately, the fabric ended right above my knees. I wore my simple gold necklace my Mother got me for my birthday. It was a sun and moon intertwined together.

I looked professional enough; I hoped. It was not everyday you get to meet the Royals, so I did not have the most elaborate options in my wardrobe.

A knock rang throughout the suite, alerting me that Esme had arrived. "Come in!" I called for her quickly, putting on my heels as I did.

"Miss Everly, your presence has been requested by King and Queen Cyprus." A male voice followed a very tall, dark and handsome man in the room. He was wearing a suit and tie that had to be tailored for him. His hair cascaded to his shoulders like a black sea. His eyes captured me the most. They were pools of ocean blue. If I knew how to swim, I would in them.

"Oh-" I gulped at the sudden redness on my cheeks. "I was expecting Esme."

His head nodded curtly as he stepped through the door completely. "She is caught up with other things. King Legacy appointed me as your personal guard while you are here. I am Beta Lockley, but you can call me Lux."

"Beta?" my emerald eyes widened in shock. "As in Beta of the Royal Crest Pack?"

He let out a small laugh at my face. "Precisely, Miss Ford. I will accompany you if you would like to explore our pack lands or palace."

I nervously licked my lips at this. I have never been around a male that looked like he was hand sculpted by cupid and now I have to hang out with him? Moon Goddess, help me not make a fool out of myself.

Celeste growled at me as a reminder.

She was so dramatic sometimes. It was not like I was planning for Lux and me to be married.

Not wanting to stand here and argue with her all day, I ignored her. Smiling at Lux, I walked towards him, well, the door, and said, "Lead the way, Beta Lux."
