《Contrasting Similarities》25. Stinky Butt

"Come on. I don't want to be late because of you," Jayden snapped, from the door. I lowered my hand from my mouth and was about to turn around and walk out when I was stopped.

"Bye Bunny. All the best for the session," Asher said, walking over to where we were standing. He maintained his distance and stood beside Lucian. "Pretend I kissed your forehead."

Do it.

I stared at him for a moment, a smile tugging at my lips. It almost appeared but thankfully stayed hidden. He furrowed his eyebrows with a confused smile on his face.

His eyebrows raised in surprise, before he nodded, like he got it.

Moving forward, he got his hands out of his sweatpants pockets and raised them to hold both sides of my face.

I clenched my hands so I don't flinch, when his hands touched me. I didn't.

He pressed his lips to my forehead and kept them there for two seconds before pulling away with a smile.

"Baby steps," he said, referring to the flinching.

His smile widened when I nodded and a small smile appeared on my face despite my will to keep it hidden.

Lucian's face was mostly emotionless with a hint of a scowl on his face as he looked at Asher.

Jayden had his mouth hung open, while Josiah was glaring at Asher. Damien had his usual scowl.

Asher acted unbothered but from the looks of it, he was enjoying it.

Meanwhile, I blushed red from embarrassment. Why do they have to make such a big deal out of it?

"Did she just let you touch her when she's not having an episode?" Jayden asked, pointing his index finger at me.

"Yes. So what?" Asher deadpanned, standing there coolly.

"So, Asher, keep your kisses to yourself. We got it that you guys are already so close." Jayden said, clenching his jaw.

I wish this ground would just swallow me whole.

"No need to rub it in our face," Damien grumbled to himself.

I rolled my eyes, which thankfully no one saw and moved to the door.

"If you actually tried, you wouldn't have to be jealous right now. Get access to your brains first, idiots," Asher said, behind me.

That was savage and I love him more for it.

Slamming the door open and successfully getting Jayden's attention, I walked out.

Jayden followed thankfully. I stopped near the car, peeking in to see if there was a driver.

"I'm driving," Jayden said, opening the passenger side door for me.

I climbed in and did my seatbelt watching Jayden walk to the driver's side of the car. He climbed in and started the car after getting settled.

"Remember what Lucian said," he said. I rolled my eyes and snorted.

"Watch it," Jayden said, before continuing. "Be respectful. To the therapist and to everyone we meet."

I sighed and looked out. The trees blurred due to the high speed of the car.

'All they care about is their reputation. That's all.'

"Where's your phone?" He asked, after a while of silence. I pulled it out of my overalls pocket and waved it in the air before him.

He hummed and pressed a button. Keeping a hold on the wheel with one hand, he took my phone and turned the Bluetooth on with the other.

"Play something," he said.

"Really?" I asked. He glanced at me then nodded. Then he looked at my phone and smirked.

Snatching it back, he switched his hands, so he was holding my phone in the other hand, which was holding the wheel before.

"I'll tell Lucian you were using a phone while driving," I said, not reaching for the phone and risk an accident.

"Let's see your most played," he said, ignoring me completely.

'When you say nothing at all' started playing.

"Your taste is different," he said, handing me my phone back.

Dad loved this song.

I looked out the window, tapping my foot and keeping a tight hold on the phone in my lap.

"Why do you love this song?" I asked, watching him twirling around the kitchen while singing the song he sings all the time.

"Focus on the lyrics, sweetheart." He said, smiling sweetly, before continuing to sing along.

"Why do you love this song?" I snapped my head to Jayden, who was blurry but I could tell he was looking straight ahead.

"Focus on the lyrics, Jayden," I answered, looking back out. My lower lip trembled.

I wiped a tear away and leaned towards the door, putting my forehead against the window.

I sniffled and immediately the car came to an abrupt halt.

"Are you crying?" Jayden said, not hiding the panic in his voice.

"No," I muttered, without turning to him. My voice came out cold. "Just drive. We're getting late."

"No. Fuck the time-" I cut him off.

"That's biologically and practically impossible." I muttered. He sighed.

"Okay. Look at me," he said, in a less panicky and much softer tone.

I rubbed the back of my hand on my eyes, being cautious he didn't see.

"No."

"Amira Levi!" He snapped. "Look at me right now or I'm not driving. Have fun explaining to Lucian then."

I frowned, picturing Lucian interrogating me again.

Dealing with this idiot is better.

I turned my head and gave him the most deadpanned look I could muster.

"Now drive," I said and turned back around to look out.

He sighed angrily.

"Why is this girl so hard to get through?" He grumbled to himself.

'Maybe open up a little to them.'

The car stopped along with the music playing. Jayden got out and rushed to my side. I couldn't even reach the handle when he opened the door for me.

"Be polite," he reminded. "And a little easy, please. He just wants to help."

I nodded. He shut the door of the car and locked it.

"Right. Let's go," he said. I flinched when he grabbed my hand suddenly.

"Shit. Sorry," he said, immediately releasing his hold, making me drop my hand. "Are you okay?"

The scared look on his face, caused a heavy something to settle in my stomach, filling me with regret and guilt.

'Seriously? Why are you so pathetic?'

I nodded.

"I'm okay." My voice cracked, for some reason.

Why are my thoughts and emotions all over the place?

"God, Bunny!" He said, crouching down before me, so he entered my lowered gaze. "What are you thinking?"

"Nothing," I shook my head.

He stood back up and turned his back to me. Doing that 'follow me' gesture with his hand, he started walking. I walked a step behind him and he kept glancing back to check I was there.

Once we entered the building he walked over to a couch at the side, beside those tall potted plants.

"Sit," he said, pulling his phone out. "Do you want to talk to Asher?"

I bit the inside of my cheek and looked down at his shoes. I nodded.

'Pathetic.'

He handed me his phone a second later.

After two rings, he picked up.

"Yes, Jayden. You're not fighting with her, are you?" Asher said, once he picked up. I started swinging my feet out of nervousness.

"Hey, Asher," I said, quietly.

"Oh. Hey, love. What's wrong?"

"Nothing. I-" I stopped, not really knowing what to say.

"Give the phone to Jayden," he said, softly.

I handed it to Jayden, who furrowed his eyebrows and took it, careful not to touch my hand.

Jayden put the phone to his ear.

"Yes?" He said, with a confused frown on his face. Not even a second later, he pulled the phone away from his ear and hissed.

"Jeez. Stop yelling!" He said, cautiously moving the phone closer to his ear.

"She was crying in the car then tried to hide it. I asked what was wrong. She's feeling down and wanted to talk to you," he explained himself quickly.

His widened eyes and rushed explaining made it clear that the full name had been used.

"I didn't do anything, I swear!" He said, before going silent, listening to whatever Asher was saying. "I think she's getting overwhelmed."

He nodded and held the phone out for me. I took it in my now shaky hands. Frowning at my hands, I pulled the phone closer.

I feel so out of control of my own body and mind.

Putting the phone to my ear, I waited.

"What are you thinking, honey?" Asher asked, softly.

"Nothing." I said, quietly. My voice matched Rose's, making my eyes go wide.

"Are you scared?" He asked. I nodded.

Somehow he knew I nodded and sighed.

"There's no reason to be scared, sweetheart," he said. "No one is going to force you. If you're really not ready, you don't have to talk about everything just today."

"I don't want to," I mumbled.

"Don't want to see a therapist?" He asked.

"Yes," I said, almost in a whisper. I know I said I was ready but I'm feeling super anxious right now.

I know I need help but it makes me feel pathetic and I don't want to look like that.

"Okay. Just try one session. You might not want it, honey, but you really need it. Please do it for yourself," he said. I nodded my head again.

'When you're overwhelmed, you need a big hug. King Elijah Verlice of the kingdom of hugs, cuddles and kisses is always here to make you not overwhelmed.'

"Okay. How about this? You can keep me on video call for the session. Mute yourselves, so you will just see me?" He asked. "I'm sure Nico won't mind."

"Okay," I said, feeling slightly calm.

"Perfect," He said, happily. "I promise it'll be okay."

"Thanks, Asher," I said.

"Anything for my Bunny," he said. "Pretend I gave you a big hug."

"I did. It feels nice. You're warm." The words left my mouth on their own, making me want to bang my head on a wall.

Asher chuckled.

"You're adorable," he said, making me blush red. Great! Embarrass yourself by being a baby.

"Okay. Call me once you're inside," he said, in his usual deep yet gentle voice.

"Okay," I said, before hanging up. I handed the phone the phone back to Jayden and hopped off the couch.

"Ready?" He smiled. I nodded and walked beside him. He led us through corridors and stopped outside a wooden door. This huge door had tinted black window on both sides. The windows were huge.

Dr. Nicholas Rodriguez.

Was written on the plate.

"Kick his butt if he scares you," Jayden said, as he knocked on the door.

The door swung open a millisecond later.

A tall lean man stood there. He was wearing a white button up with navy blue pants. His sleeves were rolled up to his elbows and his hair were dark brown and curly. With one hand in his pocket and one holding the door, he was looking at Jayden with narrowed eyes.

"I heard that," he said, sharply, scowling at Jayden.

I looked at Jayden, who was smirking at Nico.

"That's nice, Stinky-butt. You were supposed to hear that." Jayden emphasised the nickname.

Nico's eyes widened a fraction, and he looked at me finally.

His scowl vanished and a bright smile appeared on his face.

"Nice to meet you again, Bunny," he said, putting his hands on his thighs and bending down to my level. "You've grown beautifully."

"You too." I smiled. It's really nice to see him.

"So which one of you reminded this idiot of that name?" He asked, raising one hand from his thigh to point his finger at Jayden.

"It was Rose," I said, smiling. "But I just got to know that he was the one who suggested that name back then."

"Hey! I brought you here. Be a little grateful," Jayden said, glaring at me. I shrugged.

Nico rose to his full tall height and cracked his knuckles while he looked at Jayden.

"Now are you going to run or do I have to give you a trial of what is going to happen?" He asked.

"Fine." Jayden stepped back. "Take care of her."

"You don't tell a brother to take care of his sister." Nico turned to me and smiled. He stepped back himself and opened the door wider. I took a deep breath and entered, looking back at Jayden once. He was already looking and gave an assuring nod.

I hope this goes well.
