Three days later

I sighed as I rubbed my temples in circular motions. It was Wednesday morning, the day of the SATs. I made my mom drop me at school early this morning instead of waiting for Veronica. I mainly wanted to be here on time but I also wanted to do some more prep in the school library. I was kind of surprised when I saw a few other students here before me. Thankfully there was still an hour before school started.

I confusingly stared down at the page in front of me. I was currently stuck on a maths problem that I just couldn't seem to solve. I shook my head and scribbled out what I wrote for the fifth time and started again. Ten minutes later I was still nowhere near close to completing the problem. I didn't get it. Up until today I was able to do nearly every problem except for one or two that took me twenty minutes to do. I scribbled out my rough work furiously with frustrated tears blurring my eyes.

"Hey you" I jumped slightly and looked up to see Aaron smiling down at me. I then remembered Aaron and I agreed last night to meet at the library but he obviously woke up late. When he saw me his smile immediately vanished.

"Hey what's wrong?" He worryingly asked. He grabbed the chair in front of me and pulled it closer to me and sat down. The minute he sat down I threw my arms around him and silently cried. After a few minutes I pulled away from him and wiped my tears away. I looked like a such a baby but I couldn't help it

"Do you want to tell me what's going on?" He asked

I sighed and pointed to the page on the table. "I've been sitting here for the last half an hour trying to solve this question and nothing is working and what if a question like that comes up in the test and I can't do it and what if-" I rambled until I was cut off

"Ok calm down. You're obviously just very stressed and that's ok but babe the SATs are in literally an hour. You need to breathe and stop freaking out" he said. "Ok how about this, close your eyes and take five deep breathes" he continued. He pulled out my chair away from the table so I was facing him. "I'll do it with you"

I let out a breath and closed my eyes. I heard him take in a deep breath and I did the same. We did this four more times. "Ok now look at me" I opened my eyes and did exactly as he said. "You're going to go back to that table and solve that problem because I know you can"

I looked at the table and back at him. "I'm still not going to be able to do it" I mumbled under my breath. I was about to get up to turn my chair back towards the table but he abruptly sat me back down which surprised me.

"And that's it" he said "the minute you start doubting yourself that's when everything starts going down south. You need to believe in yourself or all of this" he pointed to the table where wall my notes and flash cards were "was for nothing" he continued.

I took in what he said and smiled at him "I think that's the most sensible thing you've ever said" I joked. He lightly pushed me making me laugh

"Just go and solve the problem" he said rolling his eyes

Forty minutes later Aaron and I left the library feeling more confident than ever. We walked towards the exam centre which was just a big classroom in the school. We spotted our friends and walked over to them so we could talk.

"So I was thinking, since we finish school early today, we could go to the beach after since the weather is so good" Justin suggested. The school decided that after our SATs we could leave early which was great considering I didn't want to learn new material after a big test.

"I didn't bring a swimsuit" I said

"We could meet up an hour later and I'll order a pizza" Justin offered. We all agreed. We did need the break.

"Alright everyone at your seats! The test will start in a few minutes!" The supervisor said loudly as she walked in with those obnoxious heels. Everyone started making their way towards their seats. She walked around and placed the tests upside down on each desk. Once she did that she walked up to the top of the classroom and waited till the clock hit 9 o'clock. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath just like Aaron showed me.

"You may now begin"

"Please mom don't I deserve the break? I've been studying for months" I explained. My mom wasn't very keen on the idea of me going out on a school night. She never really is.

"It's a school night Sierra you know the rules" she shot back folding the laundry.

"Technically it's still morning" I said pointing to the clock on the wall that said eleven o'clock. "Plus I'll be back early. We won't stay out for that long I promise"

She shook her head and picked up the basket full of clean laundry. "Before you leave I want you to take out the trash" she said. I squealed in excitement and gave her a hug. I quickly took out the trash before heading up to my room. I texted the girls group chat and told them I could come. Veronica responded saying she will pick me up.

I grabbed one of my gym bags and stuffed it with things such as a hair brush, sunscreen, a hoodie etc. I then changed into a plain white bikini and covered up with denim ripped shorts and a tube top. For the rest of the time I laid on my bed scrolling through Instagram while I waited for Veronica to come pick me up.

I finally heard a honk and waved bye to my mom before walking out the door. Thankfully Steph and Mia weren't here yet so I got to ride shotgun. Twenty minutes later we arrived at the beach where the boys already were blasting music on a Bluetooth speaker.

We walked towards them and laid our stuff in the sand. Soon enough we all ended up in the water.

"Wanna play a game?" I asked smirking

"I already know what she's gonna say" Steph laughed

"We should play the game where we get on your shoulders and then we try to knock each other off"

"You mean chicken fight" Josh clarified giving me a weird look

"Yes!" I shouted excitedly. "Cmon it will be really fun"

The boys all got down so us girls could get on their shoulders. The teams were Veronica and Josh, Aaron and I and Mia and Justin. Steph had no problem being out of the game for the first round but I decided to let her pair up with Aaron for the second one.

"Get set...GO!!!" Steph yelled. I immediately started pushing Veronica's and Mia's shoulders in attempt to knock them off. Mia held her balance but Veronica nearly lost balance but luckily regained it.

"Push harder!!" Justin yelled at Mia

"I'm trying" she yelled back. I took their simple exchange as a chance to push her and she immediately fell off Justin's shoulders and into the water.

"Oh my God" she shouted in shock as she reappeared from the water.

"Nice one babe" Aaron said squeezing my thighs

"Thanks" I laughed and then refocused my attention on Veronica.

"Looks like it's just you and me" I said while squinting my eyes.

"Bring it" she glared. I pulled my arms out in front of me and started pushing her. The upper half of her body flopped backwards and for a second I thought she was about to fall but she then pushed herself up with the biggest smirk on her face.

"You are so going to pay for that Bitch"

My eyes widened and before I knew it I was knocked off of Aaron's shoulders and I fell straight into the water. I could hear everyone 'oooing' at my fall. I resurfaced and saw Veronica and Josh highfiving each other. I rolled my eyes and got up.

"At least you weren't knocked down first" Aaron said but I could tell he was trying to stifle his laugh. We played a few more rounds and then walked back to the sand to lay down. We mostly just chilled out, listening to music and ate some pizza. By five pm we were all laying out on the sand, looking up at the sky and simply listening to music. I suddenly felt spontaneous and had an idea.

I grabbed my phone from my bag and opened Aaron's and I last text message. I proceeded to texting him something a little too risky. After sending it I put my phone down and waited for the ping. Once he was alerted I watched as he looked down at his phone. I smirked as he widened his eyes and he just kept staring at it. I heard him clear his throat and ran a hand from the base of his neck up to his hair.

"You ok man?" Josh asked as he looked at him with raised eyebrows.

"Yeah I'm good" he answered putting his phone down.

Time for the next step. "Hey babe do you mind putting sunscreen on my back?" I didn't even give him time to answer. I handed him the sunblock and turned on my stomach. As he massaged it into my back I purposely let out a moan that was too quiet for the others to hear but loud enough for him. He halted in his actions.

"We'll be back in a minute" he said. I turned around and saw him offer a hand for me so I could stand up.

"Don't do anything stupid" Steph joked. He grabbed my hand and dragged me across the sand to his car.

"Get in" he ordered opening the door, except it wasn't the passenger door

I didn't even think twice and entered the car. He slammed the door shut and rounded to the other side. Once he got in he looked me straight in my eyes.

"What kind of game are you playing?"

"What do you mean?" I asked innocently tucking a wet strand of hair behind my ear.

"You know exactly what I'm talking about" he rasped. He inches closer to me and placed his right hand on the window right next to my head. I gulped. I then remember that I was the one who started this. There was no point getting all shy now. I pushed him back and straddled his hips so my legs were on either side of him. He looked taken aback by my actions.

"You're right I do know exactly what you're talking about" and with that I smashed my lips against his.
