Sierras pov

I groaned in annoyance when I heard my phone ring for the second time that night. It was just after two am and I only went to bed about an hour ago because I couldn't stop watching 'Outer banks' on Netflix. I stared at my ceiling waiting for the call to end so I could fall asleep. Once it did, I let out a breath and closed my eyes. For a second. "I Should have put this thing on silent" I muttered. I grabbed my phone off my nightstand and pressed it harshly to my ear. "I swear to God if you call me one more f-"

"Is that anyway to answer me love"

"Aaron? I'm going to fucking kill you when I see you next" I gritted out

"Well then I guess I shouldn't be standing outside your house right now"

"What?" I whispered to myself. I walked over to my window and low and behold he was standing on my front lawn. I opened the window and glared at him.

"Not the reaction I was expecting" he said

"Aaron are you crazy. It's Friday morning, a school night. Why are you here? Go home"

"I couldn't sleep" he shrugged

"Ok well as you can see I was sleeping just fine"

"Come on I want to show you something" he begged

"No my mom will kill me if she found out I snuck out of the house when school is literally in seven hours" I whispered yelled

"She's not here" he said and pointed to my driveway. Well more like my empty driveway. My mom was still at work but will most definitely be back soon. I stayed silent. "Only for an hour. I promise to bring you back"

"The last time we snuck out we got caught by the cops" I said folding my arms over my chest.

"That is not going to happen. I can promise you that now please come down I look like an idiot" he said.

I rolled my eyes and backed away from my window. I changed into a black oversized hoodie and some jersey shorts. I grabbed my phone and walked out the door. I walked over to the car where Aaron was on his phone. "So where are we going?" I asked putting on my seatbelt. He only smiled and put the car in drive.

Fifteen minutes later and we were still driving. "Aaron you have been driving for ages" I whined

"Stop crying like a baby. We are here" he laughed. We got out of the car and he led me over to his secret destination

"Woah" I said in awe. We were on a cliff sort of thing that overlooked the city. It looked absolutely beautiful. All the lights were on and it just seemed extremely peaceful from up here. I couldn't help but to continue to walk over to the ledge to get a better view of what was going on at the bottom. I was abruptly pulled back into his chest by him.

"Woah you don't want to get to close. It's dangerous" he whispered in my ear. I nodded my head and he pulled away. He then walked back and little and sat down on the ground.

"So how did you even find this place?" I asked sitting down next to him.

"Well when my parents first bought me this car I couldn't stop driving it. That same day I kept driving and driving till I got here. I found it during the daytime though but it looks way better at night" he explained

"I agree" I laughed. It was silent for a moment after that. We were just both taking in the view in front of us.

"Tell me something I don't know" he said

"What?" I laughed. "Like what?" I asked

"What are you afraid of?"

I made a face and turned looked back at the city. "I'm afraid of a lot of things" I said

"Tell me a few then"

"Ok but you can't judge me ok?" I asked. He nodded in agreement. "I'm...afraid of the ocean" I admitted.

"What?" He laughed

"Hey I said no judging" I said whacking him on the arm.

"Sorry sorry. So you cant swim or..?"

"I can swim..in the pool but the ocean is different. In the pool there's a definite end but most of the ocean hasn't even been discovered yet. Doesn't that freak you out?"

"I mean when you put it like that yeah" he shrugged. "What else are you afraid of"

I looked at him and pursed my lips. "I'm afraid of loosing the people I love". I could feel him looking at me. "It was not always just me, Veronica and Steph. There was another girl in our group her name was Valerie. We used to call ourselves the VS squad because all our names started with V and S" I laughed. "But then I found out my ex, Ryan, cheated on me with her"

"Damn I'm so sorry"

"I'm over it now but it really ruined my summer. They had been sneaking behind my back for over a month before I found out. Now if we see her we act as strangers, as if nothing ever happened. Of course there's the whole thing with my dad too"

I then turned back to him. "Anyways enough about me what about you? What are you afraid of?" I asked

"I'm not afraid of anything"

"Bullshit" I said rolling my eyes. "The Rock is afraid of miniature horses and rollercoasters"

"Ok and?"

"And" I said dragging out the last bit of the word "it just goes to show that the toughest of the toughest have things they are afraid. So drop the big boy act and tell me"

he sighed and turned his head back to city. "Fine I'm afraid of being a disappointment"

"What? You're not a disappointment"

"Aren't I though?" I exclaimed running a hand through his hair. "I disappointed you"

"That was a mistake and I have forgiven you" I said trying to make him feel better.

"It's not just you it's my dad too" he said quietly.

"Your dad? But he loves you" I said remembering the time he came back for Christmas.

"No he doesn't love me but he loves the life he set up for me. When I turned thirteen I told him I wanted to play baseball. He got mad because he wanted me to do ice hockey instead. Don't get me wrong I love ice hockey. It's probably the only nice thing he's done for me but he's controlling. I told him my plans for college and he said and I quote "You're a disappointment to this family". He wants me to me to follow in his footsteps and do engineering like him just because our past generations has"

This was news to me. Even though I only met his dad for a day I presumed they were all a happy family. He was about to continue but I placed my hand over his which got his attention. "Hey you're not a disappointment ok? You have a passion and you're following it and you can't let anyone take that away from you. Including your dad" I said and squeezed his hand. He nodded his head and looked at me.

"You should take a picture" he whispered

"What?" I breathed

He then backed away and pointed to the view. "You should take a picture. You know to capture the moment"

"Right" I laughed and tucked a piece of my hair behind my ear. I pulled out my phone and handed it to him. "Do you mind?"

"Sure" he said and stood up. I got up and walked further towards the ledge but not too close. I turned to the side and did a peace sign. I did a few more poses while he took the pictures. "Does it look good?" I asked. He looked back at my phone and then walked towards me. "What are you doing?"

"Screw what I said about capturing the moment let's live in it instead" and with that he pressed his lips gently against mine. I stood in shock and a little taken aback. When I didn't respond he started to move away but I grabbed either side of his face with my hands and pulled him back closer to me. It was slow but I could feel the passion in it. I moved my arms from his face to around his neck while his hands rested around my waist. We were pulled out of our special moment when one of our phones started ringing, precisely mine. We pulled away from each other and looked at the caller ID.

"Shit it's my mom" I groaned. I nervously ran a hand through my hair before I picked up the call.

"SIERRA MAE DAVIS! WHERE ARE YOU" I had to pull the phone away from my ear because she was that loud.

"Mom I'm sorry I'm-I'm with Aaron" I apologised

"If you're not home in the next ten minutes there will be war" and then she hung up. I groaned in annoyance and frustration.

"We have to go. Like now"

The ride home was filled with me explaining to Aaron different ways my mom would kill me the minute I walked through that especially since it wouldn't take me ten minutes to get there. Fifteen minutes later we pulled in front of my house. The porch light was on alongside my living room and my room. I turned to Aaron and smiled. "If I'm not in school in a few hours call the cops" I joked

"Aye aye captain"

"In all seriousness I had fun. We should do this again" I said getting out of the car.

"I agree. Bye" he says. Before stepping out of the car I leaned into his face and gave him a kiss on the cheek

"Bye" I whispered.

By the time I reached the door it was already opened. I walked into the living room where I found my mom pacing up and down. "Mom"

"Where were you? Do you know how frightening it is for me to come home from a twelve hour shift and to not see my daughter, my only child not sleeping in her bed? I thought someone kidnapped you?"

"Mom I'm sorry ok? I promise you we were going to come back soon-"

"And what hell were you doing out at three am on a school morning? You know what I'm done with this conversation. You're grounded for a week"

"What? Mom no please I'm sorry"

"Go to bed Sierra you have school in a few hours" she sighed and walked away.

The next day at lunch

"....and then she grounded me for a week"

It was currently lunch at school and I was explaining to everyone what happened a few hours earlier.

"That's tough but you can't blame her. She was working a twelve hour shift" Justin said

"Yeah I know" I sighed. I turned to Aaron who was throwing chips in his mouth. "Did you get caught?"

"Nah once my mom sleeps she never wakes up till the next morning"

"At least one of us didn't get caught" I muttered

"Ok enough I have great news" Justin said. "Every year my family and I go to California for one week during spring break but they told me since this is my last year at high school I can bring my friends instead"

We all took turns to show how excited we were. "Really"

"That's awesome"

"I've never been to California"

"That's sweet dude"

"I'm so excited"

"Yeah But you have to ask your parents obviously. Let me know in like a week"

I sighed in defeat because I know for a fact my mom won't let me go. Not after what happened. Looks like I'm going to have play extra nice now.
