NEW CHAPTER!

YES...I uploaded! So sorrrrry! but here you finally go!

This seems rushed to me, hopefully it's long ish....but I'm soo tired soo was kinda quickly finishing.....

Yeaa...but Hope it's good! you've waited long enough :)

“No, no, no no!” I mumble, my voice getting louder with each word as I shake my head in disbelief...

“No, no! This cannot be happening!” I shove Noah in the back frustrated “Noah! I need to get home!” I shout urgently, reaching up to unbuckle the strap of my helmet as I start to tug it off....

“Whoa, whoa..calm down...” He speaks up as I pull of the helmet, shaking my hair free and holding it in my lap while throwing a harsh glare towards the back of his head..

“Calm down?! Don't tell me what to do” I practically growl at him with a scoff, shaking my head as I look around the deserted, dusty road with dry looking trees and bushes dotted around the place...

“Well....there's no need to get so worked up...” I can sense him rolling his eyes “We're out of gas, it's not like someone died....”

Glaring at his head more, I hold back the urge to hit him and instead just give him daggers “I need to get home Noah!...Tom is waiting for me..I can't let him down, I promised him I'll take him to the fair.....”I trail off, dragging a hand frustratedly through my hair, before flopping back down to my lap by the helmet..

“Please....” I sigh, closing my eyes and resting my forehead against his back “Please Noah...please tell me you have an emergency stash of fuel somewhere...”I groan...

I feel and hear him chuckle, “An emergency stash?” He scoffs “your making me sound like I do drugs or something...”

I slap his back “Noah!” I stress lifting my head, not in the mood for his stupid jokes and comments..

“Alright, alright...” he chuckles, tilting his head to the side, glancing over it to me... “I don't have an 'emergency stash'...” I let out a groan of frustration and annoyance, shoving him from behind, as I don't miss the amusement laced in his voice when he said that last part, thinking it's hilarious at how I worded my previous sentence...

“Great!..just great!” I snap, lifting my leg up and swinging it over the side of the bike “I can't believe you would let this happen!” I slide of the bike, my shoes crunching the small stones and dust on the track that I wouldn't even call a road..

“Don't you ever check the fuel level!?” I scoff, pushing his shoulder to show my annoyance...

“God Noah!” I groan, once again shoving him in anger “Your such an idiot!”

“Hey, hey!” Noah cuts in turning his head towards me a frown forming on his face “First, stop hitting me and insulting my intelligence , because that is annoying. Second stop blaming me...it's not my fault-” He starts to make an exscuse but I cut him off..

“Not your fault?!” I scoff, crossing my arms “It's your bike Noah!” I shout, roughly shoving the helmet into his arms “It's your bike!”

I place my hands on my head, tugging at my hair with frustration and grinding my teeth... why is this happening?....why?!

Pacing away from the bike, my eyes straining to look down the deserted track, seeing for miles and miles to where it ends only going over the hill, small waves of heat steaming up from the ground creating a ripple in the air to show just how hot it is out here...

I let out a long groan, turning around a few meters away from the bike to see Noah climbing of it, kicking out the support to hold it up as it balances on the uneven ground and places the helmet I was once wearing on the ground beside it...

My eyes suddenly widen a little as I lower my arms, remembering something...

My phone.

Hurriedly I pat my pockets down, pulling my phone from my jeans and fumbling it in my hands as I quickly skim over the buttons, finding the right contact name...

Why didn't I think this before?

Pressing the call button, I bring the phone to my ear, impaitently waiting for them to pick up...

But what I hear instead is the ring tone, cutting out and beeping...

No...

Slowly pulling the phone away, my eyes scan the screen that's reflecting too much sunlight that it's hard to see...but I still manage to make out, that the four bars in the top right hand corner of my screen....are blank with a tiny red cross showing over them....

My stomach flips, sinking as I stare at my phone....

“NOAH! There's no signal!”

~

“One..”

“Two....”

“Three...”

“Four....”

“Five....”

“Six....”

“Seven.....

“Eigh-”

“Would you stop that!” I snap, raising my head as I glare at the boy leaning against the bike...

Casting a smirk my way, he ignores me and carries on lazily throwing small gravel stones that he has cupped in his hand to the ground.

“Nine....”

“Ten....”

I let out a frustrated groan, grabbing my hair in my hands as my elbows rest on my knees as I'm sat on the ground beside the bike. I can't put up with this much longer..we've been here for at least a half hour, (every second Noah getting more and more on my nerves) in the scorching sun and view of the same scenery that goes on for miles, and miles over and down hills...waiting for a car, a bike, another vehicle, anything to go past! Anything to come down this track, but as much as I can hope there's a chance one will come, I know it's very doubtful as not one, not a single one has come past in these mere thirty minutes! If this was a proper rroad there would be a car every second...every milisecond and we would be safely at home by now!

At home!..where I would be able to take Tom to the fair, which he's been excited about all day!

But I'm not...I'm not there and the thought of the look on his face when he realizes this is heart breaking....

But then, deep down..I don't want to wish this morning or afternoon never happened, because then I would have never got to spend time with Noah....

Tugging at my hair again, I groan, squeezing my eyes close.....there is nothing worse than this situation right now. Having no way of getting back home, and knowing by that you are hurting someone you love.....

“Twelve...”

“Thirteen...”

“Fourteen....”

Glaring, my head snaps back up towards the boy who's learning to count stupid stones, seriously?!...seriously he finds that amusing?!

“Fifteen...”

“Seventeen...” I cut into his counting watching him with narrowed eyes.

“Sixteen....”

“Eighteen!”

“Seventeen!”

“Nineteen!”

“Eighteen!” He continues, glancing over to me and throwing an smug look obviously my attempt to confuse him is not working....

I glare harder at him, wrapping my arms around my knees with an unattractive grunt, grumbling under my breath as I rest my chin on my arms shaking my head as I curse at him in my mind...

“Twenty...”

“Twenty one...”

“Twenty two..”

“Twenty three...”

“Twenty Fou-..”

“NOAH!” I screech, raising my arms “SHUT. UP!” I seeth, huffing exasperated..hearing my own voice travel, echo even around...as I close my eyes breathing deeply trying to calm my building anger and irritation growing, more than what's already there....

It's silent for a moment as all I hear is my breathing and the high pitch chirping sound coming from nearby crickets...silence, away from that annoyinh, stupid counti-

“Twent five....”

My eyes snap open, forming into slits and my fingers curling up tightly into a ball with a low growl forming in my throat....

“Twenty....six...”

“URG!” I drop my arms, pushing myself up of the ground.

“I can't stay here! With you!” I shout shaking my head angrily and I brush of my hands “Your doing my head in!” I ground my jaw, my eyes darting up and down the dusty track we sit on..

“I will god damn walk if it means getting away from you!” I shoot him a glare before matching off away from him, crunching over the stones as I start to walk away, from the bike and away from that annoying boy.

“Hey, hey c'mon Lex!” I hear him call after me, laughter in his voice obviously finding this amusing...but I just growl, glaring at the floor as I walk, my pace fast wanting to get away from him..

Stuck here in this heat and practically in the middle of no where is not where I want to be!...I need to be home...I want to be home!...Taking my little brother around the fair like I promised!

It's killing me that I'm not there, that it's my fault and knowing that I just cracked a whole in that little boy's heart...

I hear the sound of running footsteps rushing up behind me, the tiny gravel stones making a noise everytime you walk causing it to be hard to actually sneak up on anyone..

“Lexi!...c'mon you can't just walk away...” His voice is only meters behind me with a ring of laughter in it, “It's miles...and you don't know the way...” His voice trails of...

“Watch me.” I snarl, stomping angirly up the dry track, getting further away....

“No..!” I hear his voice call from behind “Lexi!”

Glaring at the floor I ignore him, my feet kicking small stones as I crunch over them, my jaw clenching and my fingers curling up into a fist...

“Lexi! Lex! C'mon!” Noah catches up with me, jogging up to my side with the same amusement in his voice which is infuriating me more..

“C'mon...come back, you can't seriously just walk...in this heat you will dehydrate!...Lex come back to the bike and let's get the water...” Noah speaks, more serious this time “Then we will walk...”

I harshly shake off the hand that's tries to grab my arm for me to stop, “No!” I snao towards Noah

“I don't have anymore time to waste! I need to get back!”

“Leexxii!” He drags out, keeping up with my pace and long strides “A few minutes won't make a difference! C'mon! Do you want to get sunstroke!?”

Scoffing I roll my eyes, shaking off his next attempt to try grab me and push his arm away “I don't care!”.... I just want to get home.

Now I hear Noah scoff, muttering something I can't make out and just when I think I've won and he'll leave me alone......I suddenly let out a yelp of surprise as I find myself facing the stoney track I was once walking on...

“Wha-NOAH!” I shriek as I process what happened and start to wiggle.

“Noah! NOAH! Put me down!” I slap his back, wiggling more trying to get free as I feel blood rushing to my head.

I've been thrown over someone's shoulder too many times to count...you'll think I'll be used to it by now....but no!...It still aggravates me.

“Calm down! Jeez...” Noah replies and no doubt is rolling his eyes “I'm simply bringing you back to the bike...it's not like I'm kidnapping you...” Sarcasm and amusement laced in his voice...

“Yes! Yes you are!” I protest, hitting his back again “You are taking me against my own will! Which is KIDNAPPING!”

I hear his deep chuckle “So dramatic..” He muses and I see the ground stop moving signalling Noah's halt in walking...

I grunt as my body is pulled from his shoulder, my feet placed back on the ground again and I flip my hair out my eyes blinking with a huff and a glare coming to my face as I come face to face with those dark brown eyes...

“But I like it...” Noah shrugs, a smirk tugging at his lips “It's cute.”

I stare at him, unblinking as his words ring in my ears, that cute smirk on his face as he looks down back down to me and my brain seems to freeze as my eyes connect with his, a fluttering feeling in my stomach...

Oh gosh....

Shaking my head, I step back, dropping my gaze from him and to the floor as I bring my hand up brushing my hair behind my ear as I turn away from him...

“Whatever...” I mumble.. “Let's just get the damn water...”

And I shuffle over to the bike, opening up the back compartment in search for the spare water bottle...ignoring the creeping warmth spreading to my cheeks and hoping Noah didn't see it either...

~~

“Urg...can't. Walk. Much. Longer....” I pant out as my footsteps decrease to something a snail would be embarrassed by. The rays of sun beating down on us is not helping and make the effort of moving one foot in front of another difficult.

Unscrewing the cap of the water bottle, I tilt my head back, chugging down a mouthful of luke warm water that isn't the greatest as it's practically body temperature, but it's something just to have a wet mouth as saliva seems to be evaporating from my mouth it's so hot.

“Oh stop complaining...your such a girl...” Noah rolls his eyes, a small curve of his lips thou showing, proving that he finds it amusing. But when doesn't he find something amusing...

Throwing him a glare, I take another sip from the water, really wishing it could be a cold ice drink right now...

“Bet your glad we went back for the water now hmm?” Noah smugly speaks from beside me causing me to narrow my eyes as I screw the bottle top back on..

“Shut up...” I grumble, lifting my head to look down this agonizing long track, one we've been on for what seems like hours and hours, but...is actually not that long..maybe just an hour?.....nooo! We've been walking for too long....and I need to get home! Even if by now it's too late...I still need to explain myself to him...pray that he will forgive me...

Using the sleeve of my cardigan, that I have long taken off due to the heat and wipe it over my forehead, grimacing how I'm sweating a little....Urrg...how I would love a cold shower...

Heaving a sigh, I shove the bottle towards Noah, because as much as I think this is his fault and that he's annoying...I don't want want him to dehydrate.....and die...

Because then I would be left with a body and a guilty conscience..

I smirk a little to myself in my head thinking that, because yeah, I know just how much of a lie that is. That wouldn't be the reason why I wouldn't want him to get hurt....

Hearing Noah sigh in satisfaction after just taking a sip from the water, I lift my head scanning our surroundings and seeing nothing but what I have been seeing for the past hour, small shrubs and bushes dotting around the landscape...

Great...

“Urrrg....” I Iet out a flustered sigh “There's gotta be a short cut or something around here...” I continue to scan the area “Because this track doesn't look to be heading anywhere!...we need somewhere high...somewhere to get signal...” I trail off as my eyes come across something in the distance..

A mound. A hill..whatever you want to call it....there is one there!

My eyes light up a little as I see it, higher ground! That's what we need!

“Look!” I point over to the hill, jabbing Noah in the side “High ground! That's what we neeed!”

I step forward, turnind to step off the road, “C'mon!” I look over my shoulder towards him “Higher ground means we have a better chance of signal!”

“Come on Noah!” I tug at his shirt, stepping onto the softer soil ground, Noah's shirt slipping from my grasp...

“Um..yea, but wouldn't it be better to just carry on walk-” I cut Noah off as I know what he's going to say..

“No” I say shaking my head “If we carry on walking, it could go on for miles!” I point in the direction of where the track dissapears into the distance, before back to the hill “If we get up there, we will be able to see how far the road is, and then probably be able to get signal!”

“But-” Noah starts to protest and I give him a glare

“It's probably two more hours or something walking that way!” I exaggerate a little with a shake of my head “Noah..c'mon, this way is bound to be quicker...then we can phone for help...” I look at him in the eye, a slight begging tone to my voice..

I see he's about to protest again, and I turn my gaze into another glare “Anyway, why should I listen to you?” I narrow my eyes more “..How can I trust you with the way to go when your the one that couldn't even fill up a petrol tank!” I snap, shaking my head again...

“I'm going this way..” I say turning “I don't care which way you go....” and with that I start my walking. If he thinks it's better to stay on the track which could be hours more long to reach the main road, then he's more than welcome to! I'm not going to be stuck there when this is such an obvious easier way....and especially I'm not going to listen to the boy who can't fill a damn petrol tank up.

“Alright, alright....I'm coming..” Noah lightly laughs from behind and I hear him catch my up “let's go your way...” He says, while I hear a smirk in his voice.

Rolling my eyes at his weird behaviour, I continue walking my eyes set on the mound hill directly in front of us, but far away and will take a while to get there..but It'll be worth it, because there's a more chance that I will get signal...and then be able to call someone...

Walking for about a solid fifteen minutes, we become closer to the start of the hill, the smal bushes turning into medium height and taller thin trees, dotting around up the hill. I have to take another sip from the water bottle, which has gone down a considerable amount...looking to be enough for one big mouthfull....

Oh.

I let out a sigh, my eyes squinting in the bright sunlight and looking up this hill...looking taller and steeper than I originally thought, but I think that's better..the higher it is..the better chance of getting a good signal...

And with pushing myself forward, ignoring my tired limps....I reach the start of the slope beginning the hill, already feeling the strain.....I need to get to the top...

It's weird that there are more trees and bushes confined on this hill than on the rest of the land around......more pointing sharp branches sticking out..

I frown as I dodge around a thin twig pointing from the low down branches....this seems to remind more of a forest than a dry, almost desert like landscape...

there must be a water supply somewhere for all these trees to grow....or maybe it just rains a lot...

I haven't spoken to Noah since we started walking...mainly ignoring him as I'm still peeved at him, but not just only him...myself too..but I won't let him see that...

Swatting another branch out the way I look up, just over half way....

“We're nearly there...” Noah breathes heavily beside me, the hill actually effecting him more than the long strip of road..

“No sh*t sherlock...” I mutter under my breath to his obvious statement as my shoes crunch down on some odd fallen twigs fallen to the floor.

Noah heaves a sigh “Lex....I know you want to get home...I know you do, but I'm sure Tom will understand..” he trails off... “It's not your fault the bike broke down, Tom will understand...
