"No, run that back from the top ."

It's our last night together before we both have to go back to work and I'm spending it with him in the studio. At first it was fun being here, watching him take his craft seriously while he plays different types of tracks. That was good for the first 3 hours. Everyone in here was bobbing their heads, cracking jokes, singing along but as the night dwindled down. Everything relaxed and some people left. Things were getting serious but for me it was getting boring, you try sitting on your ass for almost 8 hours till 3:46 in the morning. Besides the banging headache I've received from the music constantly playing and the long hours of doing nothing I enjoyed myself. Anytime were together doing anything it's never a waste of time, I just wish I could stay awake.

"Brielle!" Chris said waking me up. "If you that tired you can take my keys and go home, pick me up a little later."

I stretched my arms. "No I'm good baby, I'll stay till you're ready to go."

"It's going to be a minute, you sure?"

When I looked around the studio besides the producer, we were the only ones in there. "I'm good"

"Hungry?"

"I'm good, what about you I'll go get you something I don't know what is open though."

He chuckled, "I ate while you was knocked out."

"I'll be back in about forty minutes man, I don't know about y'all but I'm hungry." His producer said stepping out the room.

I stood up and stretched my body as Chris sat in the chair messing around with the buttons, I came behind him and began rubbing his shoulders. "So what do all these buttons do ?"

"Each ones are assigned to do different things, like this one is for bass, and this one changes the level of sound. Wanna make a record?"

I laughed. "Oh hell no, last time we made a song I got pregnant. I'll leave the music up to you, thanks boo but no thanks."

He laughed. "I'm not talking about having sex, here you sit in the chair and play around with the buttons and we'll see what we come up with ."

I smiled as Chris quickly saved the progress he previously made. "Okay, I can do this . Tell me what you feeling right now?"

"Why?"

"So I can get a feel for a sound."

"I feel like lighting up," he admitted.

"Funny, aight so we're looking for something trippy, something that's going to get you lost in a trans."

After twenty minutes of pulling things together I finally found this sound, it was a cross between his Trumpet Lights, Bassline, and a tiny ounce of Don't Wake Me Up .

"Aight we going to have fun with this, sing to me the first couple that come to you when the bass drops."

I probably replayed him the beginning of song 10 times before anything came to him, then he began to sing. "Hold up, hold up! What you sayin' babe? I heard that your love's only a mile away. Movin' slow, why am I wide awake? All of this pain I'm tryin' to take away."

"Oh shit, that sounded good. Look at me, I need to play a part in this business . I need be getting paid for this." I admitted.

He smiled leaning back in the chair, "Look whose getting the ego now!"

"That was fun, let do more!"

But then his producer came in earlier than expected, they got right back to the process they were doing before he left. Everything was wrapped up between them about forty minutes later, all I know is I was glad to go home .

"Listen babe, I was wondering if you wanted to come to this party with me in a few days. It's someone birthday, a female friend's birthday to be exact."

"Is it Jasmine?"

"No, it's someone I've gotten to know. Her name is Janaé."

"Just how damn well did you get to know her?" I said raising the attitude in my voice.

Chris adjusted his grip on the steering wheel and smirked a bit. "Look, I took her home one night and nothing happened. We started talking and she told me that she was getting heart surgery, girl damn near had me in tears when she told me her story. So I went in with her to her surgery, then she invited me out to her birthday."

I exhaled loudly. "For the record Chris, I trust you I just don't trust these bitches out here .You never know when one of them catches you off your game and tries anything in the book to get you underneath them, it's nice that your being a friend to her but a hoe is still a hoe no matter how sick or healthy they made be, she sound like a sneaky hoe."

He smirked, "How is that?"

"She black, white, or Spanish?"

"Black, why?"

"Uses her attitude to play herself out to be someone who talks with a loud bark, because she doesn't want anybody to know her agenda. On the inside is crying for companionship, since she doesn't have that she uses her story and emotions to get what she wants. Now I could be wrong but baby I'm a woman, I know these things."

He laughed. "Brielle, I only asked if you wanted to come. I didn't ask for the break down of Hoeology baby."

"I would like to go but I can't, I already made plans with Chyna after work"

"Aight, maybe next time then."

When we got home it was practically 5 o' clock in the morning, we headed straight into bed. I held her in my arms as we enjoyed the sleep and quiet before she went to go get Mijo. Both of us didn't wake up till 1 in the afternoon, well I didn't, I tried to get up but my body was pressed to the bed.I was too damn tired to move. I was close to telling her about when Jasmine tried to push up on me, but I figured that by the way she was reacting to the simple question of if she wanted to go to this party with me I thought maybe we would be practically at each other's throats. Then I would have to try and make up for doing the right thing in the first place, you can never win with women.

"Daddy, daddy, daddy! Wake up daddy, I'm home!" Mijo shouted in my face.

There goes my peace and quiet. "Hey man what's up?" I stretched with a groggy voice "What time is it?"

"100 o' clock daddy."

I fluttered my eyes to focus on the screen of my iPhone and it read 11:06 PM, damn I slept for the whole damn day.

"Did you have fun at Papi house?"

"Yes and no, I missed you daddy."

"I missed you too man," I smiled.

"Play game daddy?"

"Daddy is very tired, you should be going night night too."

"Awe but I wanna play, daddy please." He pouted.

"Man up boy, what did tell you before? Men don't cry, you want to be a cry baby?"

"No, I not cry baby. I go play with mommy, I missed you for nothing."

I laughed. "Come here Mijo," I said grabbing him and holding him up in the air in my arms. "Mijo it is very late, I'm really tired I promise you tomorrow we'll play all day. But for now you need to get ready for bed, men don't cry but they do need sleep. You got that kid?" I said dangling him in my hands.

He laughed and squirmed, "Yes daddy ."

"Come on," I said giving him something to eat then a bath so he would knock out easily.

Going back down stairs I went to go find Brielle who was already knocked out on the couch, I was going to give her blanket and let her rest on the couch but instead I took the initiative of turning off the t.v then gently reached underneath her. Scooping her body into my arms as I carried her up the stairs then placed on in the bed.

"I wasn't really sleep but thanks for the free ride upstairs," she said with a smile.

"Just lazy ass for no reason," I joked.

She turned around and pouted, "I don't want to go to work tomorrow."

"I told you to just quit!"

"I said tomorrow, not the rest of my life."

"I don't want you to leave too and I'm sorry I wasn't awake for the day baby. I wasted our whole day together sleeping, I feel bad now."

"Don't, we had a good much needed week together. Sometimes you got to do, what you got to do. You worked hard so you deserved to sleep, I love how you stepped right into daddy mode and you put Mijo to bed. So you don't have to apologize for anything, just make it up to me by coming home with a bag of Cheese Doodles." Brielle smiled.

"I better bring two bags home, you know your ass like to kill the damn bag within the same night."

She laughed. "When are you going to show me the painting?"

"When the time is right, don't even try looking for it in the morning because I hid it in some place you won't find it."

"Guarantee it's downstairs, in the basement somewhere behind the projection screen, or something." Brielle guessed.

"Nope, I ain't telling you so don't even start the game."

She smiled. "Whatever, I'm too tired for this anyway. Goodnight fool!"

"Goodnight punk."
