Kazimir started off in the direction of her house, her mind an itching discomfort because she couldn't believe she forgot the poem right from the middle. But then again, she did write it a long time ago and never performed it so it was a given that a few lines would have easily escaped her mind.
Her steps were fast-paced and the ache on the left side of her chest was causing strange yet familiar sensations similar to the movement of long narrow needles through the veins. The sharp pointed tips were pricking every cell on their way and the thick metal length of them was hardly squeezing through the comparatively thin arteries. Of course, there weren't any real needles in there but it sure felt like that to her.
The cobblestone streets around her neighborhood were never constructed in a straight line and she was used to the innumerable turns she had to take to get to where her house was but this time around she was finding it hard to turn at the intersections because she was too distracted by both the physical pain and the mental pain of having forgotten a poem very dear to her.
She almost tripped once on a sidewalk crack and then again a little farther on one of her loose shoelaces and her hand shot out to hold herself against whatever support her hands could find and they found a scooter parked at a turn.
But instead of supporting her weight, the scooter fell taking Kazimir with it and she heard a loud crack against herself accompanied by her surprised yelp.
"Ow," she said softly almost to herself when she realized what had happened. She bent her elbows on the ground to push herself upward into a sitting position and saw shards of glass scattered around.
She got up immediately knowing that whoever's scooter it was would demand money for the broken mirror. Even though it was their fault the scooter was parked without any support but she didn't have it in her to start an argument when she needed to be home with Taehyung right then.
Her chest was being circulated by knives now rather than needles and she took out her wallet and took money from the Emergency Cash pocket of it and placed the notes on the lying scooter.
Maybe I should pull it up and make it stand again, she thought but she didn't have it in her so she just took the largest piece of the broken mirror and put it on the money to prevent the bills from flying away and started walking away.
Taehyung was anxious, very anxious and Jimin could tell by the way his body was turned in his general direction and his eyes were trained on him like his life depended on every word that came out of the poet's mouth and Jimin knew he had to be careful with what he had to say.
Taehyung's parents were seated opposite him and his older brother, Minho was to his left standing beside the armchair on which Kazimir's sister, Naomi was seated.
"I was shocked," Jimin said finally and tried hard to make his eyes look like they were swimming in hurt and betrayal. His right hand came up cup his left elbow and he looked down at his shoes.
I hope I am not overdoing this, he thought to himself but Taehyung had given him a rather dramatic script to read from and he was just acting the part. He looked up at the parents and started again.
"I told her so many times, I even came close to begging once, but she wouldn't budge from her decision. I didn't know what was up. At first, I thought it was because she was scared her family wouldn't accept me but I never imagined something like this would pop up."

"Like what?" Minho prodded shooting daggers at Jimin with his eyes and Jimin tried to subtly swallow. He was running on a thin line and he couldn't risk being perceived as nervous right then.
Because right then he was just the heartbroken boyfriend who had just found out his girlfriend was engaged to someone else.
"Like an engagement! God, I don't even know what to think anymore. We were okay, we were so okay but I knew something was wrong when she kept refusing to let me meet you all. I just- I don't know what to say."
He went silent for the dramatic effect and Taehyung was impressed beyond believe at his acting skills. If he didn't know better, he would have bought the act with tearful eyes just like his parents were doing right then.
"I didn't know you guys were dating. She never told me." Taehyung told Jimin, now his turn to play the part. "I just assumed you two were friends."
"I assumed you two were friends, " Jimin shot back at him. He stood up suddenly and everyone's eyes turned on him.
"I just came by to tell her it is over between us. To the hell with her empty promises of love, and everything else she said. I can't believe she had been feeding me lies and then happily got engaged to someone else. I thought my love meant something to her but I think I was just a little nothing." He looked towards Taehyung with anger radiating from his gaze.
Everyone stilled for a second to see what he would say but Mrs. Kim beat him to it.
"Please sit and let us sort this out in a calm way. I believe this misunderstanding is my fault and I believe Kazimir was true to her words to you. Please sit,"
"Mom!" Minho shot out, " How can you say that? How come she never told us about him?"
"She was scared of you," Jimin said calmly, " And now I can see why."
"I wasn't talking to you," Minho growled and Taehyung stood up too.
"Hyung," he called softly and Minho tore his eyes from Jimin to look at Taehyung.
"Hyung please, he's right. You're really protective of her and I doubt she felt suffocated to the point she thought she needed to hide this from us. But don't take it away from her now that you know. I don't want to be falsely accused of what happened the other night, it wasn't my fault. I promised her I would keep her secret since I found out and that she could say my name when someone questions her about anything but this is getting out of hand. I don't want you to think low of me because of my promise."
Minho inhaled through his nose closing his eyes, trying very hard to keep his anger in check. His eyes opened to look directly at Jimin who looked as heartbroken as ever but Minho had something else going through his head.
"If you knew about this," he asked Taehyung gesturing towards Jimin, "Then why didn't you just say so from the start?"
"She wanted it to stay a secret," Taehyung answered shortly looking away from him.
"Mom, did she say anything to you? What about you, Naomi, did you know?" Minho questioned, his eyes moving between both.
Both shook their head and Minho's confusion doubled. He sat down beside his dad and looked at him with questioning eyes.

His dad shook his head as well but Jimin wondered why he hadn't asked him verbally. He also started to take notice that Mr. Kim hadn't uttered a single word so far.
"I don't want to be with someone who's had her heart hanging on someone else," Taehyung said softly looking at Minho, pleading with his eyes.
He had it all planned so far. Minho did kick him out of the house but he knew if he presented the case in front of his parents, they would do the same but then they would find another way to attach the both back together. He didn't want that so he thought if he somehow proved she was already attached to someone else, his family would rest assured that at least she will not end up alone. Later when the engagement would be completely out of the question and he would be where he wanted to be in life, he could say Jimin and Mir had broken up a long time ago.
Jimin was starting to slowly regret his decision of saying yes to Taehyung's deal after being in the presence of his family for a little while and a strange thought hit him of how Kazimir wrote so well in such an atmosphere because of course even in such a condition, all he had his heart on was his writing. He was doing it all for his writing.
Minho looked at Jimin finally, his head still not perceiving what was happening but he had figured that the only reason Kazimir would keep Jimin out of his sight was because she must really have a thing for him. But Minho was more worried about Kazimir than her secret relationship and he was itching to interrogate Jimin one on one. But maybe it was too late and Jimin didn't want anything to do with Mir anymore, he thought.
"Did you know? About her uh- did you know about her health?" Minho asked slowly hoping Jimin would answer with yes.
Taehyung's heart dropped to his feet because he realized he hadn't told Jimin how to answer that question but Jimin was too fast to answer, plunging his whole scheme into water.
"What about her health?" He asked.
Everyone's head hung low at once as if Kazimir's illness was something to be ashamed of and Jimin didn't know what he said that was so wrong.
Taehyung had lost it at Jimin's words and his heart was thumping loudly in his chest about what direction the conversation would be steered into now but his heart might have stopped beating all together because right then they all heard a key turning in the lock and the main door opening.
Kazimir walked right into the living room looking as pale as a ghost but her eyes widened at finding Jimin standing in the middle of the room but hers were not the only shocked eyes. Taehyung's were too at finding her home right then.
"Are you following me?" She asked Jimin remembering the drunk events with full clarity but somehow the fact that she had seen him an hour ago didn't register with her mind yet.
Jimin stood still, his heart beating out of its ribcage. Taehyung hadn't briefed him about any of this and he didn't know how to react right then.
"Maybe I should have a long time ago," he said looking at her with death lurking in his eyes, "Then I wouldn't have been so shocked at finding out about your engagement from your own fiancé."
Taehyung exhaled a small sigh of relief but Kazimir just stared at Jimin with confusion clouding her eyes.
She stood still and looked from Jimin to Taehyung to Minho trying to figure out what was going on while each one was waiting for her answer.
"What's going on?" She asked finally looking at Minho who in turn was expecting her to answer that question.
Minho walked towards her and placed his hand on her arm and asked her softly, "Are you okay though? You look pale."
Kazimir didn't know what was happening but she couldn't be more grateful to have someone stand so close to her because all she wanted to do was lean against something and her head gently fell on his chest startling everyone.
"Hey!" Naomi hissed standing up but she didn't make any move to walk forward and pull her sister off of her husband when Minho gestured for her to stop.
"Are you okay?" Minho asked very quietly looking down at her head resting against his chest while his hands grabbed the back of her shirt to pull her away but instead, his hands encountered wet fabric and he looked down to see his hands stained with blood and her black shirt soaked in it.
Naomi's eyes widened at Minho's scarlet hands and her own hand came up to cup her mouth as she felt her bile rising up at the sight and she ran to the bathroom, Mrs. Kim following her.
Minho looked at his wife and then back again at Kazimir who stepped back to look at Naomi as well.
"What's up with her?" She asked pointing in the direction where Naomi ran off to and looked back at Minho to answer her question.
"You're bleeding!" Minho exclaimed outright weirded out by her calm actions and Kazimir looked back at her shirt where Minho had grabbed it and saw nothing but black fabric.
She lifted up her right hand to touch it and it came off stained with blood and her lips dropped to make a frown, confused rather than shocked to find the blood.
"I must have cut myself on that mirror," she said quietly thinking back to her fall but she didn't look much bothered by the injury.
Minho turned her around abruptly to inspect the source of the bleeding and Kazimir came face to face with Taehyung and Jimin. Taehyung was eyeing her with discomfort and annoyance while Jimin was standing still and scared.
"What were you saying?" Kazimir asked Jimin as if she didn't have someone looking for a wound on her back and things were as okay as ever.
"Shit," Minho hissed, "There's a glass still lodged in your back cutting into the skin. How can you not feel this?" He demanded running off to get his car keys to drive her to the emergency room.
Kazimir reached back with her hand feeling for the culprit and her fingertips touched glass exactly where her chest was aching in the front, between her left shoulder blade and upper arm. She thought the intensified pain was just her joint joining the war but this is what it was.
She pinched the glass between her fingertips and both Taehyung and Jimin shouted No at the same time as she pulled it out easily making the cut drip blood unto the floor.
A smile tugged at her lips at their reaction and she was amused beyond believe. She held the broken shard of glass up for them and let it fall on the tiles dramatically making a satisfactory clink sound when it made contact with the floor.
"Okay now, explain what's up?" She demanded of Taehyung but he looked outraged for some reason.
"You just have to ruin every second of my life, don't you?" He exclaimed coming forward towards her. He grabbed her right elbow and shook her a little and Kazimir winced.
"Tae, you're hurting-"
"Just fucking die!" He snarled pushing her away with force and she tripped and almost fell on her back.
Jimin's cheeks flamed up at the scene and he was regretting his decision to become a part of the family drama but before he could take his leave he saw Taehyung's eyes soften and he held Kazimir by the elbows.
"Shit sorry, I didn't mean to say that." He murmured softly touching his forehead to hers briefly and moving back. "Just- I was trying to help." He said and started walking away leaving Jimin behind until he disappeared out the front door.
Jimin stood dumbfounded not knowing what to do now and he wondered where had Minho disappeared to and he was suddenly left alone with Kazimir and Mr. Kim who looked spaced out.
"You should uh- you should-" Jimin stuttered picking up the box of tissue papers from the coffee table and handing it to her, vaguely gesturing towards the blood dripping on the floor.
Kazimir extended her hand just as Minho showed up and he took the box from Jimin's hand before Kazimir could and gave him one last warning look.
"We'll be talking soon." He said grabbing Kazimir's hand and dragging her away from him and out to the car.
She let herself be pulled down the stairs, the urgency of the situation still not soaking in with her but instead, she felt a strange pull at the base of her heart, like the needles and knives from earlier were finally exiting her system.
It was pretty brief this time, she thought to herself as she took a deep breath and didn't feel like there was brick pressing down on her chest anymore.
They reached the parked car and Minho opened the passenger side door for her but before she could get in, Minho stopped her and turned her around to inspect the wound some more.
She sensed his finger touching the torn shirt as he opened up the small cut in the fabric to reveal the injury and he winced silently.
"I guess you need stitches." He started taking out several tissue papers and pressing them to the wound.
He pushed her inside the car until the tissues were pressed tightly between her back and the seat since she couldn't just hold the tissues in place with her other hand.
"Don't move." He instructed softly grabbing all her hair and placing them over the right shoulder so that they wouldn't get soaked in blood as well. Once he was satisfied with the setting he closed her door and went to get behind the steering wheel.
The drive started out with them both completely silent but one minute later Minho couldn't contain the questions anymore.
"How did you get hurt?"
Kazimir was startled by his question because the calm was slowly steering her into a state of sleepiness and she turned her head slightly in his direction and closed her eyes again so that he can see she was drifting off to sleep.
"Don't fall-" Minho started but shut up immediately.
Don't fall asleep. We're almost there. That statement rang in his head bringing back awful memories of another drive to a hospital where he had to repeat the same statement to her five years ago while driving her away from her parents.
That statement had too many painful pictures attached to it and he couldn't bring himself to ever say it again.
"Talk to me till we get there. I don't think sleeping while bleeding is a good thing." He said rephrasing his words.
She remained silent and Minho's heart skipped a beat thinking she might have already blacked out from the blood loss.
"Hey, Mir, talk to me." He repeated tapping on her nose and her eyes shot open.
"Don't touch me or else Naomi would cook you on barbecue rods tonight," Kazimir said monotonously closing her eyes again.
Minho relaxed a bit knowing she was awake at least but she had a point. Naomi's jealousy had no healthy outlet and it always prevented Minho from ever directly reaching out to Kazimir.
