《More Than You Realize》Chapter 41: Darkness Haunts the Living

"The tent in pretty roomy," I commented while sipping up the last part of he zipper on the tent. I heard Jake hum.
"Yeah. You did a nice job on these, Void Steve," Jake said looking over the evil looking Steve.
Void Steve replied sheepishly.
"You did just fine," I smirked while sitting next to Jake and Void Steve.
"Yeah, you really did. I feel comfortable in here," Jake said as he tried to lean back against the flimsy fabric. He ended up almost falling through, so Void Steve and I had to catch him. He blinked a few times at us before we all ended up in fits of laughter.
"Nice going, Jake," I laughed before pulling him up. He continued to laugh as he got back up into a sitting position.
"Shut up," he said pushing me back some.
Void Steve said worryingly. We sat quietly, eating to hear what he would say next. he asked glancing between the two of us.
I sat still and focused on feeling the energy around me. I was immediately consumed by something dark. I couldn't stop myself from flinching away from the power.
"Y-yeah. It's dark... and powerful," I commented while rubbing my pounding head.
"What is it, though?" Jake asked as he put his hand somewhat into the air. It began to be coated in a dark aura. It looked as if some sort of magical essence was being absorbed into his hand. "It's not that close, but it's getting closer..."
Void Steve suggested. I shook my head.
"No. He should've been on the same off track quest as we were. The dragon said they would guide him in the wrong direction because of his evil intents," I recalled.
"Let's step out and look. Maybe we can find something?" Jake suggested. Void Steve and I nodded our heads. We stood up and unzipped the zipper on the tent.
I poked my head out first. I glanced in all directions, seeing if anyone/thing was there. I sighed a little bit when I didn't see anyone/thing.
"Come on; I don't see anyone," I said motioning for Jake and Void Steve to follow. I stepped out of he tent, allowing them to follow me afterwards.
I could hardly see anything through the thick branches and leaves of the trees. Normally, they're not this thick. I was a little curious as to why they were like that though.
"Alright, let's look around. We will let each other know if we find something. Okay, guys?" I said questioningly. I still looked around, trying to find something. I stopped looking when I didn't get a response from either of them. "Guys?"
I turned around to face them, but they weren't there! Actually, I was just staring at an empty void. The tent was gone, and the trees seemed to have disappeared into thin air. I began looking around relentlessly. My mind began to race with many agonizing thoughts.
"Jake! Void Steve! Where are you guys!" I exclaimed. I tried to run to where they were suppose to stand, but it felt as if I was getting no where with my efforts. The darkness surrounded me so much to where I couldn't see if I was even on ground or not.

It didn't feel like I was on any ground. I felt suspended in the air. I couldn't stop as tears pricked the corners of my eyes. Needless to say, I was terrified.
How do I get back to the others? Are Jake and Void Steve in the same situation? What even is this place?
My head began to ache with all of the unanswered questions circling in my head. Each one was screaming for an answer. They all wanted one so badly, but I didn't know how to answer them. It's like a teacher being yelled at by five hundred kids to answer a question, but doesn't know the true answer themselves.
"Heheheh... maybe you should try to get smarter," a familiar voice rang. I snapped my head in the direction of the voice, but there was nothing there. I tried to walk away from where he voice came from, but, once again, it didn't feel like I was really moving.
"Wh-who's there?" I stuttered with a slight shiver. I felt something cold pass through me; as of it were taunting me in a way.
"Awe... you don't recognize me? How sad..." the voice said sadly. Suddenly, my own figure materialized in front of me. I jumped away, but it seemed as if I just floated upwards more.
"W-wait... y-you're ME! Back when I was an assassin," I stuttered from realization.
"You mean, when you BEGAN TO BECOME an assassin," myself smirked. "I mean, you are still that same assassin that you were back then." My onesie changed into the same assassin like attire my other self was wearing.
"What's going on!" I yelled, ignoring the fact my clothes were changed. I didn't like it, but my clothes are the least of my worries right now. My other self just began to laugh evilly.
"I can't explain exact details, but all you need to know, is that destiny is now embracing you," 'I' said with a smirk.
"What do you mean by... NO! Oh no! No no no no no nonono... NO!" I yelled tried to get further away from my past self.
"Come on, Sabre. We are meant to be assassins. We were meant to kill those who oppose us; no second chances, no real friendship," my other self said tauntingly.
I closed my eyes and looked down towards where the ground should be. I felt myself lower towards the bottom of the endless abyss, or what I think was the bottom. My feet, finally, landed on something solid, but my knees collapsed to the ground as well. My whole body fell forward, so I put my hands out to catch myself. I inwardly flinched when I saw my "clothes" turn a type of grey.
"Of course, you don't specifically have to be an assassin," my other self said. Man, I could just hear the smirk in his voice.
I looked up to him, only to see a version of myself currently (in my chicken onesie). The bandana was off from around the eyes, letting a creepy red glow from the eyes. He stood with his hands on his hips, and an evil smirk looking down upon me.

"You can always just be completely ," he said insanely. He let out a murderous laugh, making me worry a lot more than before.
Finally, the tears. began to stream from my eyes. I had no clue what to do. This was my worst nightmare.
"Void Steve! Sabre! ANYONE!" I called out into the black abyss. I could only hear my echoing voice. I whimpered some, realizing there was no one here that could help me. "Please... I just want anyone to be here with me right now. Anyone..."
"You better be careful with what you say," someone spoke through the blackness. I looked around some, and yelped in shock when I saw a sight for sore eyes.
"You're... Slade," I said slowly. He didn't waste time in answering directly after me.
"I'm you," he replied. I shook my head with a frown on my face.
"No! You're not me! You and I were never the same. You're controlled, evil, and I'm anything but that," I growled clenching my fists tightly together.
"So... you're insane? Uncaring? Player?" Slade smirked. I flinched.
"Wha-NO!" I yelled back.
"Well, you said you're anything besides controlled and evil. Last time I checked, those words and evil aren't truly the same," Slade replied. I growled even more than before.
"You know what I mean!" I yelled annoyingly. This guy is really annoying; can someone please get rid of his image? FOREVER!
"Maybe I do, maybe I don't. All I know, is what you still are on the inside. Admit it, Jake. You are still evil. You and Ty both are. There's no true way to become not evil," Slade said as he began to circle my figure. I stomped my foot on he invisible ground below.
"You're basically calling Ty, Void Steve, Kylie, Sabre, and me evil!" I yelled. I watched him circle me a few times, but I made sure my back was never faced to him. Honestly, I was getting a little dizzy from the spinning.
"I never said they weren't evil," Slade said as he finally stopped circling me. I felt my head lower itself to the floor. He was right, in a way. He never said they weren't evil. What if... there truly IS no way to reverse the evil I did?
"N-no... there's always a light. It doesn't matter how small it may be, it's still a light!" I replied confidently. In reality, I wasn't that confident in my own answer. I think Slade knew this.
"Darkness can consume any light that may be shining," Slade replied smoothly.
I can't deal with this anymore! I need to get out of here. Come on, Jake. This isn't real. This isn't real. This isn't real! I looked up to Slade again, but his smirk didn't help me at all.
This IS real...
No... nononononono! I can't be here! It's not possible! I don't even want to be here! How and why and I here!
"Because you do want to be here," a voice replied. How-? I wasn't talking out-loud, or anything like that, was I? "No... I can read your thoughts. Well, more of, I am your thoughts."
I growled. I heard this voice sigh.
"Basically, I'm your subconscious. I'm really just here to say a few things," the voice said.
I yelled as some tears threatened to fall from my eyes. The voice laughed once again.
"You needed to be reminded of the great things you did in the past," it spoke. As it said this, another figure of me materialized in front of me. I jumped a little bit, making my, now, other self sigh and shake his head. "You've grown so weak. You're too jumpy now. You use to be so powerful, able to destroy a town with a little bit of power. Now, you jump when someone is in front of you. Oh, how far you've fallen."
my other self cut me off angrily, so I just allowed him to rant to me.
"Sabre this! Sabre that! Sabre doesn't care about you! He's only trying to look good in front of his real friends. He still believes you're evil. He doesn't trust you; he only wants you to believe he does. Now, look! You've fallen for his mind games! HOW PATHETIC!" my other self yelled. He turned to the destruction of my home that I caused so many years ago. "Don't you see?! This is what we were made to do! Sabre knows that! He doesn't care about your health. Him and Jake are celebrating over the fact you're gone right now. They're hoping you don't come back."
My other self was panting because he was taking so much. He didn't have any breath to speak because of how much he was speaking. I didn't say anything because I didn't truly believe in what he was saying.
"Well, don't go back. Become their other enemy. This betrayal will make you stronger..." my other self said with a smirk. He held his hand out for me to take. I only began to laugh at his futile attempts.
I yelled in my other self's face. They growled before disappearing into many small particles.
My body shot up as I said that statement. I looked around, relived to see the real world. However, my smile fell as I saw everyone else in a state of worry, yet relief.
"VOID STEVE! You're okay!" Galaxy Steve exclaimed before going back into a panic. "I wish I could say the same for Sabre and Jake."
I looked to both sides, and I instantly began to worry as well. Both had the most uncomfortable look on their face, and they were somewhat twitching in their curled up position.
"We came to wake you three up, but all of you looked like this. Well, you were less uncomfortable," Kylie said as she tried to wake Jake up.
I mumbled to myself.
"What?" Alex asked shaking Sabre even more. I shook my head.
I yelled while shaking Sabre with Alex.
"What are you talking about?!" Mary asked in a panic when Jake began to twitch more. "You've made it worse!"
I yelled firmly.

Doctored Chance: The Unpleasant Preceding of "Pajama Boy" and What Drove Him to Murder
I, Mick Chadwick, regret to inform my readers that this memoir contains nothing but the truth, which in the case of Tobias MacClain, most ridiculed as Pajama Boy, is far from pleasant. If you seek to relate to a hero more than to aspire to them and have the stomach for unpleasant things such as a hero left for dead, villainous scars, bomb threats, and murderous intent, then look no further. All of these gruesome things and more await from my research, and though I do not wish them on any man or woman, I cannot bear this burden on my own much longer. In the words of Tobias MacClain himself, "Sometimes, a villainous act can cause the greatest good." I hope that all my villainous acts of sneaking, blackmailing, diary-reading, and grave-digging, among others, will be redeemed as I present this complete and truthful memoir to the world, and with any luck, open eyes to the truth of what we call "villainy". Doctored Chance: The Unpleasant Preceding of "Pajama Boy" and What Drove Him to Murder ********* MATURE FILTER IS FOR:- violence- graphic imagery (blood, burns, fairly dark headspaces)- cartoon depiction of burn scars for visual aid Despite graphics, Mick Chadwick's writing keeps Mr. MacClain's terrible tale light somehow. This is foremostly a comedy.

I am very lazy. :DDISCLAIMER: My primary purpose here is Comedy rather than badass skills and righteous adventures (although there's some of that too).
