《More Than You Realize》Chapter 39: Why We Left

Who doesn't love the smell of fresh air? It's just... lively. It makes all of my worries go away, for the most part.
"Sabre? How much longer are you going to daze off?" Jake asked while putting his hand on my shoulder. I flinched a little bit. I wasn't expecting him to come up on me like that.
"Oh... sorry, Jake. Hopefully not any longer!" I said happily. Jake laughed a little bit.
"Come on! You're missing out, dude," he said pointing back to the others as we walked back home. Well... where our home was...
Currently, Void Steve and Galaxy Steve were having one of their little quarrels. I sighed a little bit.
"How are two the same person, but you always fight with one another?" I asked with a smirk. They both looked at me.
"Bcue e'e oneprs" they said in unison. Well, they weren't wrong!
"Touché, but what are you two even fighting about now?" I asked.
"I'm arguing with him because he won't agree with me that you two left the other day alone to spend quality time with each other," Galaxy Steve smirked. He knew he was wrong. He was just trying to embarrass his other half. I couldn't help but blush a little bit.
Void Steve said with a blood red face.
"Galaxy Steve, give it a rest already!" Alex complained. I think he was sick of listening to those two fight.
"Please, Galaxy Steve. That really isn't why we left. I planned on going alone, but Void Steve caught me before I left. I couldn't lie since he already caught me, so he came with me to the nearby village," I explained. Galaxy Steve's smirk only grew.
"SO YOU DID SPEND QUALITY TIME TOGETHER!" he exclaimed happily. I flinched a little bit.
"If you call finding a creepy old man that helped us learn about something to help us defeat, now only, Krill, then yes. We totally spent time together in the way you're thinking of," I said angrily. Galaxy Steve laughed, but he quickly stopped when he looked ahead. I looked to where he was looking at, and my heart fell to my feet.
"I-it looks even worse than when we left..." Kylie said sadly. I walked over to rubble of our house. Some of the wood was still burning, but the majority of the building was gone.
I picked up a piece of burning wood. The fire didn't hurt that much. Honestly, it felt pretty nice against my skin. I dropped it to the ground and took a few steps back. I glanced back to the others.
"Stand back. I'm not sure what could happen," I admitted while putting my hands up to the building. They all took my advice and took huge steps back.
I concentrated on the fire coming to me, and I could feel some embers brush against my palms. I flinched a tiny bit.
After a minuet or so, I opened my eyes. All of the fire was gone by now. All that was left was the rubble.

"I-I might have an idea," I said walking closer to the burnt wood. No one spoke. I guess they were waiting for me to explain my idea. "I can probably restore the house. My powers aren't powerful enough to restore Rainbow Steve, sadly."
"Well... let's try it!" Galaxy Steve exclaimed happily. I nodded my head.
I closed my eyes once again. This bit required more concentration than anything I've ever done before; even telepathy! I held my hands out to my sides; feeling all the energy in the world coming to me. After a minute of gathering the energy, I moved my hands in front of me. I released the energy towards the rubble of our home. I began to love my hands around. I'm pretty sure the others thought I was going crazy.
I said. 😂
I could hear something happening, but I knew that if I opened my eyes, my spell would stop. So, I waited there, feeling my own energy being drained out of me.
Finally, I couldn't do it anymore. I couldn't lose a lot of energy in case something happen in which I needed them. I stumbled a little bit as my hands dropped to my side. I felt hands grab my shoulder and arms in support.
I looked to the house with a small smile. I could see the house completely rebuilt. The wood was repairs, and each block was back in place neatly.
"Wow... that must've taken up a lot of energy!" Jake said shockingly. I nodded my head. I looked over to him since he was one of the two holding me up.
"That's why I'm basically collapsed in your guys' arms," I laughed. I heard Void Steve chuckle from my other side.
he said before draping my arm over his shoulders and neck.
Slowly, we all made our way inside our "new" house. Void Steve made sure I made it safely to the couch. I couldn't help but lay back in relief. Sitting down and relaxing was very... well relaxing!
"Good job, Sabre," I heard Rainbow Steve say. I snapped my head in the direction I heard his voice from. Luckily, I didn't attract any attention. I smiled at the fainted spirit of my rainbow colored friend. I nodded my head as he disappeared into thin air.
"Okay, for real, though. Where did you two go before Spencer attacked?" Kylie asked as she walked up next to where Void Steve and I sat. Everyone else crowded around us.
"It's not like we could hide it. It affects where we go from here," I explained before pulling out the folded map from my inventory. Everyone got closer. I guess they thought the answer would come quicker if they got closer. Well... Ty didn't get closer. Honestly, I was thankful for that. I was a little uncomfortable with everyone surrounding me like this.
"Can you guys not see he's uncomfortable?" Tyler said. Mind reader much? Everyone looked to him for a minute, not believing him.

"He's not wrong. I feel cramped like this," I admitted shrinking down a little bit. Everyone nodded and back away some. I smiled at Ty. "Thank you, Ty."
"Uh... no problem... I guess?" he said questionably. I laughed a little bit while unfolding the map.
"Void Steve and I went to the nearby village. On our way back from my little... de-aged problem, someone was speaking to me telepathically. They said to come to the village to find a special book that would give me information about some object to help us defeat... well it was Ty and Spencer. I guess now it's Krill," I explained showing everyone the unfolded map.
Void Steve finished.
"The Relical Orb? I think I've heard of that somewhere before. Oh! Ty! You told me about it!" Jake exclaimed pointing to Ty happily. Ty flinched a little and pointed to himself in shock.
"Me?! I don't remember anything about-OH! That's right! I remember back when I was in school, I took an ancient history class. The class told us about a multitude of things; ancient legends, myths, magic, relics. I remember my Professor talking about this Relical Orb. Hold on," Ty said before he disappeared. We all glanced at one another, a little confused.
Suddenly, he reappeared. He had a book in his hands. He held it out for us to inspect.
"Is this your history book from this class you were talking about?" Galaxy Steve asked as he looked at the book. "Strange. Where I'm from, everyone is already given all of the knowledge they need. You guys learn... extra?"
"Yes, Galaxy Steve. We learn stuff that is completely pointless in life here," I said dumbfounded.
"You're not from here?" Mary, Alex, and Kylie mumbled in unison.
Void Steve questioned angrily.
"I agree. We need this orb. Krill probably already knows about it. We can't let him have it," I said. Everyone stopped talking about how Galaxy Steve wasn't from here. "Ty, continue please." He nodded his head.
"Actually, your conversation gave me time to find what I need. Listen to this. "The Relical Orb was man-made by people who craved power. It was a plain orb at first, but it was quickly filled with magic from animals, Steves, and other humans. Soon, the power became too powerful, and corrupted. The wielders fell to the darkness the orb offered them. It didn't take long for lands to be destroyed, waters to rise, and even the time of day was all mixed up. Then, about a year into this conquest, a daring hero confronted the corrupted people. He was the only one who was able to keep his abilities away from these evil people. This hero was Hitar Frave?" Ty said questionably. I felt my heart stop.
Jake looked over to me, shock written in his face. Ty got ready to continue when no one corrected him on the name. However, I had stopped him to ask a question.
"H-how long ago was this?" I asked. He gave me a weird look, but began to look for the answer to my question.
"Um... about 200 years ago," he answered.
"H-HOW!" I yelled. Jake almost fainted. Everyone looked at us weirdly.
"Well... I guess now we know where our powers came from... and why mine's corrupted..." Jake said quietly.
"What are you all talking about?" Alex asked a little angrily. We weren't exactly being clear about what we were talking about.
"Guys... Hitar Frave was our father," I explained gesturing to Jake and myself. Everyone stared before bursting into laughter. Jake and I exchanged confused glances.
"Impossible. Like Ty said, this was 200 YEARS AGO!" Mary exclaimed with a laugh. "Besides, last names don't even match."
"Our mother's name was Litdo ErAnde (air ândé). When they got married, mom wanted the name to change a little bit. She didn't want anyone making connections to Hitar to us," Jake said. "People are pretty dumb, so they just moved some letters around and gave it a "weird" sound."
Void Steve mumbled.
"Hitar was a well beloved hero, to the people he saved. He was mortal enemy number one to the villains he stopped daily. If they found out he had two sons he held dearly to him, what do you think they would do to kids?" I asked Void Steve.
Void Steve exclaimed.
"How do you know all of this?" Galaxy Steve asked.
"Our mom told us when we were younger. Remember, I've regained all of my memories from the past. There's a lot I haven't told you guys about," I laughed. Jake laughed with me.
"Ty? Can you finish your little story real quick?" Jake said while still laughing. Ty nodded his head.
"Hitar Frave hid the Relical Orb where the hands of evil couldn't reach it. No one has been notified of its whereabouts since Hitar hid the relic." Until now," Ty finished while closing his old history book. "Now, we have the map to find the object. However, something tells me Krill may know if its whereabouts. Something evil is emitting from the map."
Void Steve suggested. We all fell silent. I stood up, taking the map with me.
"Then we head out now. Krill won't expect us to know that he seeks the same object. We need a head start," I stated. Everyone else nodded in agreement.
"I agree with Sabre. Let's pack some things in a bag that we may need, and then we can head out," Kylie said grabbing her own backpack from somewhere in the room. I have no clue where she pulled that thing from, but it was magical.
"Alright, guys. Let's do this!"

Chronicles of Xod (returning from hiatus)
After a long recovery over a chronic motion sickness issue, I feel I'm ready to return to writing this book. It might be slow at first, but I'm hoping to pick up where I left off. I apologize again for the long hiatus. The pages following are a true account. An account of how I, Josh--a teenage nerd from modern suburbia--ended up in a strange world filled with fantastic magic, bizarre creatures, and terrifying dungeons. Despite the troped-up fantasy feel of the world, this is hardly an ordinary tale. For one, don’t expect a happy ending. With the trials I’ve been through, the horrors I’ve seen and the atrocities I’ve committed, believe me when I tell you, this is not a happy tale filled with friendly rainbow bears or teenage flying unicorns. It’s more likely you’ll finish this book mentally scarred as I will not spare the details of my unfortunate adventures. With the help of my trusted companion Gui, I gain an insight that no one else in the world has. This knowledge allows me to exploit and, for lack of a better term, metagame the system which gave me a clear advantage over its residents. “With great power...,” someone might begin to quote to me. In my defense, I think maybe even you, reader, might have acted similarly with how this reality changed my view of good and evil. This story will be updated regularly on Wednesdays around 6 PM. There will only be about 1000 words per update. The focus is to finish the story before doing any major changes or editing. Please read as if this is a work in progress, not a finished product. Feel free to let me know if you see any error, whether glaring or minor. If you help me out, I'll be sure to add you to a thank you list at the front of the book when it is published. Chronicles of Xod is a first-person fantasy novel that follows the adventures of a young man from Earth. Through unknown circumstances, he finds himself in a fantasy world where life is not all wonders and happy endings. The story takes common fantasy concepts from my favorite video games, books and movies and gives them an adult edge. It also introduces some taboo concepts often glossed over by stories written for broad audiences. The style is meant to be immersive and heavily detailed. The short novel will be written in a way that attempts to bring a sense of realism to an unrealistic genre. Where there are realistic consequences and dangers in a world populated with violent monsters, cruel demons, bloodthirsty undead, and immoral bandits. In this fantasy world, the inhabitants are essentially gender blind as far as sexuality is concerned. There is also more variation amongst male and female physiology. This isn't meant to be any kind of promotion or demotion of social behavior in reality. Just a concept I thought would be an interesting idea to have in a fantasy setting. I highly discourage anyone from reading this material if you are personally concerned with being offended or traumatized. Both violent and sexual content will be graphically detailed. All characters involved in sexual scenes are mature and of the age of consent(18+).
