《More Than You Realize》Chapter 37: Fearless Group

"Jake... you're digging holes in the dirt with your pacing," Mary commented as she walked over to me. I had to look up, which I never have to do. I looked back down to see that, indeed, I was digging holes in the ground.
"I-I can't calm down, though. Are we actually trusting Ty to find Sabre AND bring us to him?" I demanded while climbing out of my little hole. She got angry and glared at me with her hands on her hips.
"JAKE FAVRE! I thought we've been over this! Sabre would give Tyler a chance, so you need to as well," she said before walking off. Let me explain.
Ty is currently not here... in a way. His body is here; floating in midair. However, his mind isn't here. He said he was basically searching the land to find Spency's or Sabre's aura. Once he finds it, his mind will return to his body, and he'll be back to normal.
I watched Ty as his body rose and fell in the air. His eyes were sealed shut, and his marks under his eyes glowed a vicious red. Everyone just waited around. Some lied on the ground, and others merely sat on the grass and talked to the others. I was the only one pacing and causing a mess on the ground.
Suddenly, a loud gasp came from Tyler. He straightened himself out and landed on the ground as everyone rose from their spots. I ran over to him; waiting for to hear what he found. He held his head and closed his eyes once again.
"What's wrong! Did you find Sabre!" I yelled hopefully. He just nodded his head, but I could tell something was wrong.
"I found him... but his energy is weak. I can't tell what's wrong with him besides he is in pain, but it's not what's making him so weak right now," Ty explained as he opened his eyes once again. He looked around to all of us. I guess he wanted to see our reactions. "His energy is really weak, so it'll be hard to constantly feel where he is, but I'll try my best."
Void Steve said. We all began to walk to wherever Ty lead us.
"Another thing. I don't think it's just Spency causing Sabre to be in pain," Tyler said back to us. I looked over to the others with an eyebrow raised.
"What do you mean?" I asked going up next to him.
"I found the base they're keeping Sabre at-" he began before I cut him off.
"They?" I questioned. He nodded his head.
"Yes, they. There was someone else's presence in the building. Something... powerful... something evil," Ty said. "I'm almost positive it was this higher power Spencer is working for."
"Okay... can I question why Sabre calls him Spency, but you call him Spencer? I thought you didn't know his name when you worked with him," Alex asked. Ty shrugged his shoulders.
"To be honest, it's more of a hunch. I mean, I feel like "Spency" is just a nickname for Spencer," Ty suggested before dodging a tree.

"And... they knew each other from Sabre being an assassin," Mary mumbled conclusively. "I mean, Sabre did say they were friends at one point."
"Can I get caught up?" Kylie asked confusingly.
"Sabre, as he put it, "wasn't the best person" before he meet the Steves. He went to some crazy daycare when he was younger, and gained a lot of experience in the real world there. They had some crazy teleporter and a director that had no control over the daycare, and he even had some crazy front desk guy that was basically a lunatic. After that, he became an assassin after some events with some people called Templar Guards and his "parents". I guess, Sabre and Spencer were friends at one point, but Sabre apparently casted Spencer aside for some odd reason," I explained as we continued to follow Ty. I really hope he knows where he's going.
"Oh... wow. I didn't know Sabre had it so rough," Kylie said sadly. A small smile forced its way to my face, but it was a pathetic smile.
"None of us did. He told us not too long ago," I said before bumping into Tyler. "Hey! What's going-oh..."
Tyler has stopped because we had reached a somewhat small building. He looked back to us with a somewhat scared look.
"This... this is it. Sabre is in there; I know it," Ty said looking back to the building. I gave everyone a questioning look, but we all followed Ty as he began to make his way to the building.
Void Steve threatened as we made it to the front of the building. Tyler laughed.
"Trust me... I feel purer now. Besides, Spencer betrayed me, so why would I trust him?" Ty asked as he tried to find a way to open the locker door.
"You could be playing with us. Maybe this is all some sort of trap to lure us to our certain death," I concluded while crossing my arms at him. Ty flinched, and then looked back to us. He began to laugh.
"I would just be leading myself to certain death if that was the case. Please, trust me on this. I want to help you guys, truly, I do. However, I can't do much if you don't trust me with what I do," he said turning completely to us. I looked to his demonic form.
"It's hard to trust anyone that looks like that," I said pointing to his demonic features. He flinched and took his time to evaluate his features.
"I know... but I can't change back. My source comes from within me, and it's nothing something I can shove away without serious consequences," he said as he went back to finding a way to open the door.
"Like what?" Mary asked intriguingly.
"Well... only one major thing... the rest are minor," he said as he tried to just plainly turn the knob. By the way, it didn't work.
"What's this one major thing? Then we can decide if it's worth taking such a risk," I said. Alex glared at me, and Void Steve did as well.

"Oh, you know... it could just allow too much energy to enter this air and can cause everyone to go completely insane. Ultimately, it will drive them to the point they will blow the world up. I can do it any time if you want me to," Tyler said sarcastically. I blushed a little bit.
"Uh... I'd rather try to trust you in your demonic ways," I decided as he finally found a hidden button. He pushed the button; allowing the doors to open slowly.
"I would to," Tyler smirked as he entered the building. Everyone followed in after. I rolled my eyes and went in behind them.
"He looks depressed," Spencer commented as he poked my cheek. I looked at him without any emotion. Krill growled a little bit.
"That's because he IS depressed. We've been over this," Krill said as he walked to my other side. Spencer rolled his eyes.
Krill gave me a smirk, but I didn't really care. I couldn't take my mind off the words he said earlier.
"Anything you would like to say, Sabre?" Krill asked with a smirk. I stared into his demonic like eyes for a moment.
"No..." I mumbled looking back down to the floor. Krill laughed before walking over to my chains. He unlocked them, allowing my body to fall on the ground.
"You're too upset and shocked to move right now. We'll leave you here to rot away," Krill said as he motioned for Spencer to leave with him. The two left the room; leaving me in all of my misery.
I let out a huge sigh before collapsing on the ground. I curled up into a small ball and thought about all of my mistakes I've made in my life. The thoughts brought me comfort, for some odd reason. I think people would find it weird.
'STOP! THIS ISN'T YOU! YOU KNOW YOU'VE DONE NO WRONG RECENTLY!'
'But you haven't. You're actions are now pure. Trust me... you have to get out of this depressed state!'
'You know you're reasons... I know you're reasons...'
'No, Sabre. It's me... Rainbow Steve!'
'Uh... that might be a problem...'
'Well... Spencer and Krill kind of... burned down the house.'
'We all got out, but Tyler was struggling. Jake went to him to save his life. I knew they couldn't make it in time. You rubbed off on me... I ran in to help them. In the actions of helping those two get out, some burning rubble collapsed over top of me. Sabre... I'm dead...'
I felt my heart break even more. I looked to my hand, only to see it turn a darker gray. My whole body turned a deeper gray. Is this a sign I fell into a deeper state of depression? I think I have.
'Sabre... you can't go deeper into this condition. You're letting Spencer and Krill win if you do. Please... the others are already here trying to find you. You have to listen to me. You are not the assassin you were in the past. You are a pure human being who wants to help others. Sabre... you are prophesied to be a hero of all.'
I felt joy in those words. I sat up, feeling my strength come back to me.
'THAT'S MY SABRE!'
I looked down to my body to see the color coming back. I can't believe I'm actually saying that COLOR came back to my WHITE onesie, but it did. It looked more "alive."
As soon as I regained myself, I heard the door being pounded on. Honestly, I was a little confused. The door was unlocked because Spencer and Krill thought I was too weak to move/go anywhere. I decided to help the ones banging on the door, and I had a pretty good idea about who it was.
I twisted the knob and pulled the door towards me. As I thought, my friends stood at the door very confused. They looked at the knob, and then back up to me.
"It was unlocked?" Jake asked with a blush. I nodded my head.
"They used something on me that made me extremely depressed to the point I couldn't move. However, I was talked out of it," I explained stepping outside the room. I closed the door, so the villains would think I was still in there.
Void Steve commented. I nodded my head.
"Yeah... I got to hear Rainbow Steve's voice one last time..." I said sadly, breaking the news I already knew about his death. They all flinched.
"You know?" Mary asked sadly. I pierced my lips together and nodded my head.
"Yeah..." I said softly. We stood in silence for a moment. I shook my head. "We need to get out of here before Spencer and Krill find out you guys are here."
"It's a little too late for that, Sabre," I heard Spencer smirk. I looked down the hall to his insane eyes. Krill stood proudly behind the monster he created from my past friend.
Spencer drew a sword and pointed it at us. Blood dropped from the end, and I'm pretty sure I know where the blood came from.
"Now that your friends are here, we can kill you all at once," Spencer said insanely. I got into a fighting stance, but someone FLEW in front of me. "Ugh... you're here?"
"Yes, I am. If you want to mess with them, you'll have to go through me first. I have some stuff I want to take care of with you, though," Tyler said summoning a sword. Spencer rolled his eyes and got into a fighting stance himself. However, he looked extremely bored.
"You're a very fearless group of kids, but I'll use Tyler as an example of what a mistake it is to be a fearless group," Spencer said before laughing insanely. I looked to the others.
"Normally, I would try to convert him to our side, but... with him," I said pointing to Spencer. "I can't save him. He's already lost his mind."

Summoner's Journey
[Before you read - the story is officially dead. The reasons behind it are posted in the last chapter.] In a magic world on the verge of an industrial revolution, Ari Ragnarsson must uncover the truth behind his parents' disappearance. They were part of an organization known as the Order, which protects mankind from various threats - both human and supernatural. Now, after Ari's brands finally manifest, he leaves the safety of his village and travels to the continent. Strength is all that matters in this world and he must learn how to control his powers. There, he meets a man from another world, who's being hunted for merely existing. Their fates become intertwined, but not in a way either of them would appreciate. Author's note (contains minor non-story related spoilers about the MC and setting) This is a progression fantasy with LITRPG elements sprinkled on top. The main character is not a spellsword, but a summoner/support mage hybrid. Since he wasn't ambushed by a random god, there's no cheat item/spell and he has to rely on his skills and wits to survive in a world full of monsters. The story tries to show the moment when the old starts to be replaced by the new, with a healthy dose of magic and a little steampunk in the background. Also, it revolves around a party dynamic akin to RPG sessions. No health/mana bars. Numbers are secondary and the LITRPG elements focus more on classes/spells/runes and their evolutions. Tables are sparse at the beginning, but from chapter 7 onwards they appear more often. Still, I won't be copy-pasting the whole character sheet dozens of times per chapter.
