《Blue Eyes (A Paranormal Romance)》Chapter 67

I swerve my head left to right, I have absolutely no idea whatsoever where I'm supposed to go to get out of here.
All I know, was that I had to break free. So when Slyder had given me that knife, I saw my way out. I have never pick-locked anything my entire life but I knew there's a first time for everything. I used that knife to unlock the metal bar that held my hand down, and then the lock on the chains that held my legs. It was difficult, and it took some time, but I closed my eyes-since I couldn't see the key hole anyways- and focused on it until I finally heard a click. Relief flooded through me, I almost couldn't believe I actually did it.
That was the easier part, the hard part was having to think about killing myself the entire me, continuously thinking about stabbing myself with that knife and how I'd be free from this torturous life. It was awful but I knew I had to because I knew that Slyder had been listening in on my thoughts to make sure I was actually going to go through with it.
And then, after I had thought about that enough, I thought about sliding the knife into my heart. The pain of the blade against my skin piercing my heart and thinking of my slowing heartbeat coming to a stop as my breathing tapered off as it got harder and harder to breathe. I used the instructions Melina had taught me and blocked off my mind. I was sure that Slyder, as powerful as he is, could still hear my thoughts, so I focused in on the moon grabbing every power it was oh so kindly exuding and used it to seal off my mind as much as I possibly could Then I took off every chain and handcuff and stood up, rubbing my raw wrists.
My legs felt wobbly and weak, almost like jello. It hurt to stand at first, my bones weak from being unused for a while.
My whole body burned and stung, my legs itched where I had imprints in the shape of the chains, but I ignored the need to scratch them knowing I'd just be wasting time. I started to search the room for something to unlock the door with.
The only thing in the room was the chair that I had been locked to.
I was about to grab the chain to try to maybe wrap around the handle and then yank as hard as I could, maybe bang it against the doorknob-though that would make more noise I would prefer- then a thought came to mind, so obvious it made me smack my forehead at how dumb I had been. My illumination...duh!
I used every left over amount of strength I had-which really isn't very much at all- and soaked in the moon's exuberance, each breath I took was a new breath of strength and power.
Finally, I had gained enough empowerment to shoot some of my turquoise brilliance at the doorknob, relieved that it hadn't made too much noise and easily melted the lock that blocked my way from opening the door.
Then I had ran forward and hesitantly grabbed the doorknob, fearing that it may be searing hot. Surprisingly though, it was cool to the touch. I quickly yanked the door open and stepped out, and after taking a few random turns, I was led to where I am now, looking from left to right, trying to figure out where to go.
Finally I settle on the right, even though I have absolutely no idea if that's correct.

I come across a wide silver door, I have no clue what the door leading outside looks like, but this door looks like it could be a door that goes outside, I pull it open, thankful that it's unlocked.
My heart drops when I see what's inside. The stench alone in here curdles my stomach, brings vomit to my mouth, but what I see is even worse.
Brandon lays on the floor, his body was bloody and chewed, bitten out of and red. I once saw a horror film where rats chewed all over this girl-or was it a guy?- his body looked almost exactly like that body on the movie had.
Surrounded him was buzzing flies, some flew around and some landed on him, bugs were covering nearly every inch of his skin.
Oh my God. Brandon is dead. Slyder had probably fed him to rats.
I never knew Brandon that well, yet even still tears spring to my eyes. It's horrible, Brandon was nothing more than a prop in Slyder's evil schemes.
Brandon was a straight A student, a star athlete, he was president of the school, he was in the running for valedictorian. He was kind, funny, and caring. I remember one time in 8th grade when I had spilled my milk all over the front of my shirt, the whole cafeteria was laughing-excluding Abigail and my few friends of course- but he had given me his hoodie and then stood up and told everyone to shut up, then he gave this short speech about kindness and whatever. He had come up with it on the spot, and ever since that day, any bullying was shunned in the school because he was such an influential person. I was sure that he would be the next president of the United States of America.
It was sad, he died for no more reason than the fact that Slyder needed him in order to trick me. As sick as it sounds, why couldn't he have used some deadbeat druggie? Or at least some guy that didn't seem like he'd do much in life, a floater? I guess I wouldn't have gone for a guy like that...
A tear slides down my face.
As much as I hate to say this, I can't dwell on his death, maybe later, but for now, I need to focus on escaping this place before Slyder finds out I left.
Taking a deep breath, I shut the door quietly, wiping the few tears that had escaped. Just as I'm about to wander around this building again. I suddenly hear a voice enter my mind.
Princess, if you're here, and you can hear me, escape! Don't worry about me, I'll find a way to save myself. I repeat do not worry about me! Your mom, Brenda is waiting outside this building for you. Don't respond back to me, Slyder will hear you. Just find the escape door and get out of here, don't hesitate, just leave! Please Princess, please don't come back for me, you scared me enough the first time you were kidnapped. Don't look back, don't try to save me, just don't. And in case you're trying to figure out if this is Slyder or not. Try not, do or do not, there is no try. This is Adelram. Now go!
My breath halts abruptly at his words. It was obvious that it was the real Adelram, I mean first the re-quoting of my quoting of Star Wars, but mainly his voice and his choice of words proved that he was the real Adelram. I know I haven't know Adelram that long-no longer than two months-yet I instantly recognize not only his voice, but the way that he speaks, the way that he uses his words and what words he uses.

He told me multiple times not to go back for him, to just find my mom and leave, but that's really not even an option, after all, if I had told him the same thing, he wouldn't even hesitate, he would just come and save me. Him coming back is all because of me, he's captured because of me, that would be pretty horrible if I just left him here to die.
I follow his mind that he has now left open until I find the room he's locked inside.
I can hear his groans of pain. He's too prideful to yell out in agony even in the face of death, I probably would have smiled and rolled my eyes if I wasn't in this situation.
I only hesitate for a moment, but I angrily knock that hesitancy out. Suddenly an idea comes to mind, why do this alone, when I could have help?
I focus in with my mind and search until I find my mom's' mind.
Mom! It's me, Kamaria. Slyder captured Adelram, I need you to help me rescue him. This really is Kamaria, please help me! I exclaim, hoping she believed me when I said that I'm really Kamaria, I can't think straight enough to come up with any proof.
As I'm waiting for her, I can hear Adelram groaning loudly in pain. Finally, I can't stand this anymore and I swing the door open.
Inside I see Adelram locked down to a hospital chair, a bright yellow light that hung from the ceiling shined down on him. There was ropes tied to each wrist and ankle, connected to a metal contraption thing.
It took me a moment of staring to figure out that those metal contraption thingy's were pulling away from him, meaning stretching him unnaturally.
Slyder's heads whips up when he finally notices I'm here. His eyes widen, shock expressed clearly on his face. He thought I was dead.
"What the-" Slyder begins to speak, but I interrupt. "Enough Slyder. Just let us go" I demand, even though I knew for a fact that it's 100% pointless.
"Princess?" Adelram heaves out between groans.
I shoot out my arm and pour out my turquoise brilliance onto the rope connected to Adelram's right arm. Relieved when it breaks apart against my illumination, it wasn't some special super strength rope.
Slyder shakes his head, bringing him out of his surprised daze. He runs forward as he's shooting his own illumination, blocking mine.
As I use one hand to block his brilliance, I use the other to grab the left hand contraption with my telekinesis and fling it against the wall, breaking it to pieces while also making a fairly large hole in the wall.
Now I just had to get the ones off of his-"oof!" I exclaim when Slyder's booted foot smashed powerfully onto my stomach, as if I wasn't in enough pain as it is. I fall to my knees. Vomit pours out of my mouth.
Slyder up kicks me right in the stomach once again. I fall over onto my back.
I won't give up.
I use my telekinesis to throw the other metal contraption at Slyder's head, which he blocks.
Just as Slyder is going to kick me again, Adelram sits up and shoots his own brilliance at Slyder's face. I use this moment of distraction and kick upwards, my foot making contact with Slyder's crotch.
I fling both ankle stretchers with my telekinesis, flinging them straight onto Slyder's chest. He's pinned to the floor.
Slyder shoves both of them off of him as though they weighed nothing at all. He stands up, blood seeping through his shirt. Adelram jumps up from the chair he was sitting on, rubbing his no doubt sore arms.
I turn my attention back to Slyder, throwing the chair that Adelram had been laying on at him. Almost smiling when it smacks him in the head.
Slyder falls, but he's only down for a nanosecond before he's right back up, shooting his illumination at me and Adelram, we both block.
It doesn't take long for this to feel repetitive, and soon I find myself getting wary of this. Suddenly, a mint green light shoots straight at Slyder's face, burning it. I can hear it sizzling as he struggles to block it off while blocking mine and Adelram's.
I whip my head over to where the brilliance is coming from to see my mom standing there, her arms outstretched towards Slyder, the mint green light pouring out of her hands. I smile at her as tears form in my eyes. It feels like I haven't seen her in months, it feels so good to see her face.
Suddenly Slyder completely stops his red illumination, immediately jumping into a front flip that goes over my head. He spins around and does a tucked roll smacking straight into my legs like a bowling ball to a pin. I got the floor with a thud.
Then he pops up and shoots his illumination at Adelram before he has a chance to block. He spins and tries to kick mom, but she must have seen it coming because she easily and swiftly blocks his foot, crouching beneath his leg and then shooting her illumination straight onto his crotch.
I take his moment of shocked pain to my advantage and jump up, I pick the chair up from the floor using my telekinesis and throw it at his head. It hits him, in the legs...I never said I was good at aiming.
Just then Adelram runs forward and smashes his fist down hard on Slyder's already bloody nose, spraying blood all over him.
Before I can even step in, mom throws this ball of what looked like electricity directly onto Slyder. I watch with wide eyes, in complete amazement as the electricity crackles and sizzles against Slyder's skin.
I immediately jump into the fight, just as my mom and Adelram had and shoot my brilliance onto him. As I'm doing this, mom continues to throw her electricity balls at him, and Adelram smashes punch after punch onto Slyder's face.
Suddenly, as we're all doing this, Slyder let's out a piercing scream right before a huge red blast shaped into a circle bursts from around his body, flinging us all back like some unseen force.
Before any of us have a chance to stand up, Slyder kicks Adelram directly in the face, resulting in Adelram spitting out a mouthful of blood. I try to fling the hospital chair on him once again, but he easily blocks that before slamming his foot down on my stomach with such a strong force that vomit literally flings out of my mouth. It hurts so, so badly like as if someone just dropped an anvil onto my stomach.
My mom instantly sits up because of this. She begins to make a lightning ball again, but Slyder quickly kicks my body as hard as he can into the direction of mom so that the lightning ball in her hand smashes against me, sending a thousand volts of pain and shock.
It's as though I have no control of my body, I literally could not stop myself from jerking around spastically as the pain course through me.
Adelram of course stood up and kicked Slyder in the back of his right knee. Slyder immediately falls to the floor, but even in pain he pours out his red orange illumination onto Adelram, which is easily blocked.
Mom is sitting next to me, staring at me with wide eyes, hesitantly moving her hands towards me and then pulling them back, it was obvious she didn't know what to do.
Adelram continues to fight Slyder, but my attention is pulled away from them and focused on my own pain. The electrical shock soon leaves, replaced by a continuous buzz.
Once my mom sees that I'm okay, anger flashed through her eyes, she looks up at Slyder and stands, her hands clenched tightly by her side.
"Slyder!" Mom suddenly screams, instantly bringing everyone's eyes to her.
"I'm sick of this! I'm sick of you living! First my sister, then my husband, but you will not take my daughter" she screams. Before any of us can do anything, she's suddenly on top of him, punching him over and over again. Her husband? Does that mean Slyder killed Aashray?
I literally just sit here, staring with my mouth hung low as she repetitively punches him in the face. It's not long after that Adelram is jumping in, kicking Slyder over and over again on his left rib cage.
I slowly stand up, my legs weak along with the rest of my body, but I ignore the pain and stumble forward until I'm standing right next to Slyder, I use every single amount of anger towards him for everything he did to me, every single amount of hatred towards him for the pain and torture he put me, my friends, and family through, into the brilliance that I stream onto him.
He began to jerk around spastically just as I had when I was being electrocuted. He let out a scream and yanked around as hard as he could, punching and kicking, jerking and flinging, but none of us let up, we continued to beat him, kick him, and burn him, letting out every ounce of anger, and hate that we have onto him, the one person who deserves it more than anyone...well maybe not anyone, but you get the point.
And finally, Slyder let out another piercing scream, this one far louder than any other one. So loud, we all three of us stopped beating Slyder so that we could cover our ringing ears. Once the scream died down, Slyder stopped struggling, stopped moving, stopped breathing. He just laid there, but I wasn't going to fall for it again, I held my hands out towards him, ready to attack at any moment and looked to my mom. "Check if he's breathing" I instructed.
Mom hesitantly pressed her fingers to Slyder's wrist, checking for a pulse. Adelram shook his head, "Slyder's different, that's not how you see" he stated. Then he sat down on his knees and pulled up Slyder's eyelids to reveal a red iris with small orange splashes of color. His pupil was smaller than any normal pupil, and the iris took up most of the eye. It was creepy, scary, and strange. It was the very same eye I saw on that day that I fought Slyder.
Adelram stands up and looks to me, the shock in his eyes was so clear that it didn't take any form of mind reading or even hints, you could easily tell that he was completely and utterly shocked. "He's dead" Adelram stated, his voice rung obviously with shock and disbelief.
I probably wouldn't believe it, as a matter of fact I didn't, not until Slyder's once buff, rough body begin to shrivel up. Mom let out a short shriek and jumped up.
We all watched as the body somehow turned into a thin, scrawny body. The face morphed into what looked like a literal demon. His face was contorted and so creepy it instantly brought chills to my arms. It's so hard to describe, it was like something you saw from a horror film. It was thin, pale as paper, his eyes were so large it took up at least half of his face, and most of the other half was his giant forehead. It was like....like an alien demon. An almonien...a demien? I'll work on the name later.
It took a long time of us just standing there, staring, but finally, Adelram cleared his throat and said "I'm not taking any chances" with that, he shot his sky blue brilliance at the body, it didn't take long for my mom to join in and pour her light onto the body along with Adelram. After a moment, I shook out of my shock and shot my own illumination at him.
We all watched as the light morphed into an intense aqua color, slowly disintegrating the small, frail body.
None of what I was doing felt real. It didn't feel like I had just killed The Slyder. It didn't feel like I was now disintegrating his body. It didn't feel like I had just won some incredible victory. It felt like this was all just some elaborate, scary nightmare.
Soon the body is completely gone, burned to nothing more than a small pile of ash.
Besides that, the only proof anything had happened was the rancid stench of burned flesh.
We all closed our fists, and stood there, a mixture of relief, disbelief, and shock ran through my mind.
I looked up at my mom and was surprised to feel a smile curve on my lips. "We did it, we really did it" I announce, feeling the tears pour down my cheeks. I'm not sure if the tears were from the stress of everything that just happened, relief over what we did, sadness and fear from everything that I had gone through these past days, or joy from seeing my mom again, but I'd say it's probably a mixture of all of that.
"We really, truly did" mom cried happily, tears sprinkling down her own cheeks. She quickly pulled me into a tight hug.
"I'm so sorry for being angry with you mom. I know you only did what you did to protect me" I cried apologetically.
Mom squeezed me impossibly tighter. "Don't you dare apologize. I'm so sorry for everything you've gone through, you never should've had to go through the things you have. And I'm sorry for lying to you, you deserve only the truth." Mom cried, squeezing me so tight I could hardly breathe, but I didn't mind.
"It's okay mom, really it is. You'll always be my favorite mom, no matter what" I assure, squeezing her back.
"And you'll always be my favorite daughter" mom whispers.
After my mom and I break apart, she holds me at arm's length and stares at me with wide, sad eyes. "Look at you!" She exclaimed, "what has he done to my sweet baby?" She cried, her voice cracking very noticeably.

8 64The Ruined Monks of Rothfield Monastery
Erin is the youngest member of the dark monks; a supernatural brotherhood whose ultimate mission is to improve the dire circumstances of poor, war-torn villages using powers unique to each member. Or so he was led to believe. Erin, like his brothers, does not age, and that is, unfortunately, the only trait he shares with them. He cannot charm or compel like Woodrow, he cannot cast illusions like Knox, he was not swift like Swithin, not powerful like Blake. He was barely an assistant to his dear brother Wilbur, with his herbology and alchemy. He was told to lie low and make himself scarce. That is what he did. The dark monks temporarily reside in abandoned monasteries scattered around the country, feeding the poor and healing the sick, nurturing the monastic lands until it was fertile enough to raise crops and rear animals. As the years passed, they would leave these reformed, repopulated, self-sustaining monasteries and venture froth to help the next settlement. Yet, after years of toiling and quiet servitude, Erin notices that people and the country itself are declining. The villagers look gaunt, the once-lush soil now barren and cracked. He begins to feel disheartened, thinking that their mission is proving futile. Still, their leader Blake is steadfast and charges onward, and lately has his eyes set on a certain monastery in a thick, thorned forest that seems to diminish, even nullify their powers. A thick forest that Erin somehow has a connection to. A thorned glade where an ethereal voice calls his name with one simple request along with a promise:Heal the land, child. Heal the land and I promise to give you sanctuary so long as you stay. I promise to nurture you as you nurture me. As Erin cultivates the land, the land, in turn, gifts all its caretakers with new, enhanced skillsets on top of their unique powers -- skills of protection, healing, and magic. Magic. Erin had long wished to see the world fill with it again. The people, regardless of common or noble blood, still believe that magic will enter this world again. Magic to bless the king like it did the Saints. Magic to dispel the miasma befouling the world. Magic to bring back the fae folk and their many forms. It is up to Erin to forge the many paths leading to a bright future; to build a prosperous paradise that welcomes all races and bloodlines, by mastering the rewards gained through agriculture, horticulture, and animal husbandry, smithing, crafting, and fishing. Erin may also find a lifelong friendship and romance with his neighbor, Claude, if he decides to pursue him, and may even join him in the military campaign outside the monastery. The darkness still lurks outside, after all, and the mastery of his skills, along with a few good friends, may finally be enough to turn the tide in their favor. Most of all, Erin wants to keep the vow he set for himself: to protect everyone and everything he loves until his dying breath.
