《Blue Eyes (A Paranormal Romance)》Chapter 44

I can feel the fear and nervousness flowing through my entire body as I wrap my arms tightly around Jake's torso. But soon all of my worries have drifted away, as I breathe in his heavy peppermint orange smell.

The engine revs and we're off, zooming right past all of the brilliant green trees, making them appear to be one very long multi-toned green blur. My long thick tresses are whipping wildly around, obscuring my vision, and I'm practically blind at the moment; but if I tilt my head at a certain angle, instead of my hair whipping in my face, it fans out wildly behind me. I really love this feeling. Before ever riding on a motorcycle, I had thought for sure that I would hate it, that it would feel like a death trap, but now as I'm riding it, holding onto Jake, I feel safe, happy, exhilarated.

I can feel the waning moon shining down on me, and even though it's not a full moon, it's still bright and empowering. A small smile lifts my lips.

I'm not sure how far away the Eribiss world is, or what I'll do when I get there. Different scenarios have been running through my head since Jake first told me I'd be going. There's one scenario where they say I'm not allowed there because my mom and dad were from different clans.

There's another scenario where the person that's supposed to train me refuses to help.

There's yet another scenario where everyone immediately attacks and kills me.

The scenario where they all pretend to be very kind to me but then they pour a bucket of melted butter on top of my head and shove me into a large oven, cooking me for dinner, terrifies me, but hey. I've supposedly got these awe inspiring powers, maybe they would pull through?

And then there's my personal favorite, the one where everything goes absolutely perfect, and all goes as planned...don't worry, you're not the only one that doesn't believe that's going to happen.

I can tell that there's something Jake's not telling me, he's tense, and nervous, which makes me both anxious and curious. Curiosity gets the better of me and I decide to do something that has failed every time I've tried, something that has never worked before, I attempt to read Jake's mind. I close my eyes and take a deep breath of his calming scent, then press my helmet to his back and concentrate with everything I have, trying to grab some of the moon's power. It was almost tangible, like a thread of spiders silk.

At first I heard something low, it's a voice I don't recognize, raspy and angry "Just make sure you never bring her here." Jake tenses up even more and just like that I'm kicked out of his mind. I growl out in frustration. As I replay what I heard is his head, all I can do is hope that the thought had nothing to do with me.

"Jake?" I say but my voice is whisked away by the wind instantly. "Jake?" I yell this time much louder than last. A moment later "Yeah?" Jake yells back "Why can't I read your mind?"

I ask. The question feels strange to ask it loud. Even though I yelled it loudly-and I know Jake heard-he doesn't reply. I sigh deeply and close my eyes, putting the question on hold, just for now.

After I don't even know how long, Jake hesitates for a moment before he pulls off onto the side of the road. He parks his motorcycle and hops onto the ground and takes his helmet off. "What are you doing?" I ask, taking my helmet off too. He looks around nervously as he bites his lip "Because you've been gone for so many years, you're considered an...outsider, so I'm going to have to drive you in there while you're uh...kinda unconscious." He says anxiously. I could see his body language pleading with me to just understand, but I was just too shocked to try to be empathetic.

Unconscious? What, is he going to knock me out? Not happening. "Uh, what do you mean by 'unconscious'?" I ask feeling a little nervous. "Well I'm going to have to use my er-abilities to make you kind of go into a sleeping state of sorts, just so that you don't see how to get there. It's a rule." He says, waiting anxiously for my reply. "It doesn't hurt." he quickly states, still nervously.

While it is scary to think that I'm going to be unconscious, which means I'm leaving my life completely up to Jake, I do feel like I can trust him, and rules are rules, so I don't really have any option but to let him do it, do I?

I nod my head slowly "Okay, it's totally painless right?" I ask, feeling my hands begin to shake. "Right." He confirms, stepping closer to me. "Alright, just close your eyes and lean forward." He says. I do as I'm instructed. After a moment, I feel Jake's warm hand on my face. It's a calm, soothing action that instantly brings goosebumps to my arms. It's silly, I know. It's pathetic, lame, and totally wrong, but that doesn't stop it from happening.

I can feel Jake's peppermint-orange breath blowing lightly on my face and feel a small smile reach my lips despite everything. There's just something about Jake, maybe it's his always calm attitude, or his cocky confidence, or maybe that sexy smirk of his...oh gosh I'm going totally off topic, I apologize, my point is, somehow he's always able to calm me even when I'm in my most hysterical moments.

"Princess?" Jake says "Yeah?" I breathe out, keeping my eyes closed. "You're welcome." he whispers, his lips pressed lightly against my ear, of course sending a shiver down my spine. I don't know what he's saying you're welcome about, because he's knocking me out? Or maybe he felt me physically relax, before I can find out, there's a slight buzzing noise filling my ears and I feel my head start to fall, suddenly I'm overtaken by complete darkness, and all I can do is stay still and think. Trapped in my own thoughts, there's only so well this can go, and it wasn't looking positive.

It's impossible to keep count of time as in I'm sitting here, my thoughts swarming me. This is serious torture, of course Jake had left out the part about me being trapped in my own mind, for who knows how long.

But as I was saying, I don't know how long I'm in here, thinking about every little thing down to my favorite Star Wars quote. (It was a close call between 1. Do or do not. There is no try. 2. Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, and Hate leads to suffering. 3. Be mindful of your thoughts, Anakin, they'll betray you. But in the end, I had to choose 2.) I've been lost in thought going over every detail of every little thing, I've been considering possibilities, I've been thinking over memories, I've been wondering strange little nothings, I've been up and down and all around my mind and now I'm just sitting here, bored. I've found during this time that my mind is a lot darker than I had originally thought...but I won't get into that.

Suddenly, without any warning, I'm brought out of my head and into the real world. As soon as I open my eyes and see Jake standing in front of me, I begin punching and slapping, jumping off of the bike as Jake backs away. "Ow, hey! What's your problem? What did I do?" He asks holding his hand up to defend himself. "You," I say punching him in the chest "locked," I growled, flinging another punch at him, this time in his stomach.

"Me," again I pause to punch. Jake is backing away and looking at me with confusion "in my mind," I scream, punching him in the arm this time "for a bajillion years!" I exclaim slinging my fist at him once again, but this time he catches my fist in his hand and holds onto it.

A small smirk raises the right side corner of his lip "oh, right, did I forget to mention that?" He asks feigning innocence. I let out a huff and stick my tongue out at him, which of course he raises an eyebrow at, suggesting something that definitely wasn't what I meant.

My eyes widen and I feel my cheeks blush, I quickly look away, turning around towards he motorcycle. "Where are we? Why'd you wake me up?" I ask looking around.

We're in the middle of the woods, there's literally nothing around us besides dirt, trees, grass and leaves, as far as I can see, there's no openings, just this deep forest.

Jake steps forward, a dark grin on his face, he pushes me up against a tree and lowers his head down to my ear. I can feel my breathing fasten. He presses his soft lips lightly against my ear "oh come on, you didn't really believe I was Jake did you?" He whispers.

My eyes widen as fear takes over my whole body. What does he mean? Is he really not Jake? So who is he then? Surely he isn't...Slyder, is he? I gulp loudly. I fling my knee up as hard as I can at Slyder's crotch, but he moves his leg and blocks it. He then presses both legs against mine, trapping them to the tree.

I reach forward and punch at his chest, but he grabs my fist and squeezes hard, before grabbing both of my hands and putting them in front of my stomach and pressing his body up against mine so that I can't move. I try to head butt it like I've seen people on movies do so many times, but he swerves his head to the right and then pushes his forehead against mine. I now can't move a single part of my body. Its infuriating and horrifying at the same time.

I'm shaking like crazy despite being pressed hard against a tree. "Stop it Slyder! Leave me alone!" I scream. A dark look shades over Jake-er Slyder's eyes. "Oh come on baby," Slyder mocks "use your little moon power, I thought you were supposed to be powerful. Guess it'll be as easy to kill you as it was Abigail." Slyder mocks, a dark laugh pouring out his lips, a horrible parody of Jake. His leer was nothing like Jakes smile. How could I fall for this again?

Slyder already killed Abigail? She's gone? I was supposed to save her! Jake was supposed to help me, but this whole time it's been Slyder, lying to me and tricking me into thinking that he was Jake. That he was going to help me train, and then save Abigail. When he knew this entire time that she was dead and that he was only leading me to my death.

Instead of sadness and fear like I'd expect to feel, all I'm feeling now is anger, pure anger and hatred. The dark emotions swirled within me, taking me ever closer to my breaking point.

Slyder watches my angering expression and barks out a sarcastic laugh. "Aw, is little Kamaria getting angry? Don't worry. You'll be dead soon enough too. " He was practically gloating in my face.

I close my eyes and concentrate solely on the moon, it isn't shinning directly down on me, but I find that if I focus enough on it, I can still borrow some of its power. Just like grasping at a string, and pulling it to me. I breathe it in slowly, then open my eyes and use every amount of strength I have to shove Slyder off of me. His eyes widen before he falls to the ground on his back. I step onto his stomach and push down hard, at first he lays speechless in pain, but out of nowhere he flings his arm under my leg, sending me backwards.

I fall on the hard ground, stunned, feeling a hard stick of wood press against my back. Slyder stands up and begins to stalk predatorily towards me. I quickly stand up and run forward, focusing only on the moons strength, as I smash my fish against his cheek with all of my strength, and more. My eyes widen as a burning pain sears through my bloody knuckles, and I shake my hand wildly. You know, on movies they never show that this hurts like a mother!

Slyder takes my moment of pain to his advantage and shoots his illuminating red-orange light at me. A short scream pours of out of my mouth as I'm sure this is going to be my end, I don't know what to do, I squeeze my eyes and put my hands up, blocking my face, as if that's going to do anything.

After a long moment of nothing happening, I slowly open my eyes to see Jake there looking at me in disappointment. "Seriously Princess? What is this?" He asks putting his arms up dramatically, and squeals a very girly, and high pitched squeal. There's no way I looked or sounded like that.

Now I'm seriously confused, this definitely doesn't sound like something Slyder would say. Jake rolls his eyes "I'm not Slyder, I was putting you in a dangerous situation to see how you would act and respond, and how well you can defend yourself" Jake explains. "You what?" I scream stomping forward. I'm about ready to go donkey kong pounding on his chest, but before I even have the chance, Jake ruins it by grabbing my wrists. "Alright enough, man, you're a violent girl" Jake mutters. "Only when my friend lies and deceives me, making me believe I'm in danger and then attacking me!" I scream.

A slow smirk raises Jake's lips into a full on grin "I'm your friend?" It's like Jake ignored every single word except that.I can't believe that's the only thing he caught out of that entire sentence. I roll my eyes as I feel myself blush "I don't know." I shrug "I think so." I mumble looking away. When I look back up, Jake's grinning at me "Well I consider you a very dear friend of mine too." He says. I feel my cheeks blush a much deeper shade of red and a small smile tug at my lips.

I feel awkward and embarrassed, so I quickly change the subject "Of course you easily beat me, I've never used any of my powers before, that's the whole reason for this trip remember? For me to get the training I need to fight."

I say crossing my arms.

"Still, that squeal at the end really just ruined all of your strength that you had been showing just moments earlier." He says disappointment clear in his voice.

"Oh shut up, you have to admit, I was was beating you at first." I say smiling up at him. Jake scoffs "Please , I was letting you win." He says confidently. "Admit it." I reply simply.

"I'll never admit such a lie" Jake says shaking his head. I poke him in the chest "Admit it." I tease in a sing-song voice. He watches me with a teeny smirk on his lips before rolling his eyes playfully. "Ok, Fine. Whatever, yes, at the start you had taken me by surprise and were winning, but you definitely need more training if you plan to fight Slyder."

I smile triumphantly, "So you admit it, I'm the most amazing, beautiful, powerful person to ever walk this earth." I say cockily, trying to elicit one of Jakes sexy laughs.

I watch as Jake tries to stop himself from smiling. "Sure you are princess." He says looking down at me with a look I can't quite describe, a look I can't quite read. "Knew it!" I exclaim doing a quick victory dance. I was shimmying my shoulders, swinging my hips as I lift my arms above me head, and then smacking both of my hands onto my chest before flinging them up.

When I'm finished Jake just stands there, shaking his and barely concealing his amusement and a large grin with his signature alluring smirk. I blush a little under the heat of his electric blue eyes. I clear my throat "So, are we almost there?" I ask looking around. Jake's expression changes into a look of pride "We are here." He says.

I look around with furrowed eyes brows "Oohhh, is this like a Frozen moment? Are the rocks going to start rolling towards us and then turn into trolls that sing a totally perfect song? Please don't tell me they're going to try to convince me to marry you." I tease, saying the last word as if he were a disease.

Jake looks at me with an expression that was clearly not amused. "Haha." He says humorlessly.

"Come on." He says reaching forward and grabbing my hand. I know this sounds totally corny, and way lame, but I actually feel tingles shoot up my arm when he does this. I begin to blush as he pulls me along to a part of the woods that looks exactly like everywhere else.

"Oh wow, that moss on the tree looks so...mossy, this is so cool," I joke sarcastically. Jake ignores this as he lets go of my hand (sadly) and squats down, moving over a medium sized rock. He starts to push away leaves on the ground and slide away the dirt "What's up? Lost your precious?" I giggle, looking at him curiously. Again he ignores me, as he continues to move dirt and organic debris.

I watch closely as he looks around before knocking a rhythmic sound onto the dirt covered ground. To my surprise, it sounded hollow.

After a moment a small camo colored camera, covered in leaves pops up and points itself directly at Jake for a moment, then turns to me and zooms in, the out, then in, then out. The camera goes back into the ground. I just stand here, staring dubiously at it, what was that all about?

Out of nowhere a green light flashes from the bark of the closest tree. Jake recovers the the small area with leaves and dirt then sets the rock back onto it. He stands up and dusts off his hands, then turns toward a tree on the opposite side of him and pours his blue light at it.

I watch in absolute astonishment as the trees begin to disappear and in its place appears a humongous, gorgeous golden gate with Eribiss written in cursive letters in the front. My jaw rests comfortably on the ground as ginormous mansions and buildings appear on the inside. Random people begin appearing everywhere. I just stand here in utter stupefaction, my eyes unable to blink, my mouth unable to close, my lungs unable to work right. I can't believe what I see before my eyes. The gate made of pure gold is higher than six of me standing on each other's shoulders. The mansions on the inside of the golden arch are around seven hundred times the size of my house. The only thing that appears normal here are the people walking around. Of course just at the moment that I'm thinking this, a little kid throws a blue fireball at another little kid who laughs and absorbs the fireball, shooting one right back. My head is spinning, how is this possible? Seriously how? One second we're surrounded by woods and the next an entire world is set in front of me. I knew I've said 'how is this possible' a bajillion times, but this, this, is definitely the most amazing, surprising, and astonishing thing I've ever seen in my life.

Jake looks back at me and smirks at my bewildered expression. "Come on." He ushers, nodding his head in the direction of the golden gate. "Is this heaven?" I ask, to be honest, half of me is seriously wondering. Jake laughs "No, it's definitely not. Now let's go, we're on a time limit remember?" He asks me patiently. I shake my head but that doesn't do anything to clear my mind. Still I step forward and walk with Jake to the front enterance. As I near closer, I notice another camera.

The golden camera that blended in with the gate well suddenly moves forward and looks Jake up and down before turning to me and doing the same. After a moment, there's a loud whir, and the camera goes back to its hidden position. The gate doors begin to slide open. I wouldn't be able to speak if I wanted to as I step past the open gate doors, looking in amazement at all of the beautiful, fancy, huge mansions that fill this place.

Jake turns to me and almost overwhelms the moment by brushing his hand against mine, smiling, before looking away.

"Welcome to The Eribiss, Princess."
