《Blue Eyes (A Paranormal Romance)》Chapter 19

As soon as my mom sees me the next morning a loud gasp comes out of her mouth "what on earth happened to your nose?!" She screeches, actually hurting my ears. "Woah mom, calm down" I yawn still in sleep mode from just waking up a few minutes ago. "Don't tell me to calm down when you walk in here looking like that!" She exclaims gesturing to my nose.

"Now you better tell me what happened right now!" She demands.

"I wasn't paying attention to where I was going and smacked into a door, that's all, but I'm okay, it looks more painful than it actually is I swear" I reassure her.

She steps forward and wraps me into a hug "oh honey, are you sure you're okay? Would you like to see a doctor? Or stay home from school? Or both?" She asks, holding me at arms length as she watches me, waiting for a response. I shake my head "no mom it's fine, really it is" I assure her. She looks at me for a moment longer before nodding "alright, but you call me at any time if you want me to come and get you okay?" She offers "okay" I agree and give her a kiss on the cheek before turning around and racing upstairs where I pull on a pair of jeans and a long, 21 pilots hoodie on, I know, no strange clothes today, but I just wasn't in the mood.

I walk over to my mirror and study my nose. The bruising hadn't gone down at all, I lightly touch it and instantly jerke my hand away when a shot of extreme pain shoots through my nose.

I actually feel tears well up in my eyes from that simple touch. I realize there is no way I could even put foundation on here to try to cover it up.

Disappointed, I step outside and get in my car, driving off to Abigail's house.

When we get to school, as soon as I step out of my car people are whispering and pointing.

I read the minds of the people around me.

Omg! What on earth happened to her?!

Woah looks like she got hit by superman

What is everybody pointing at?

Did she get into a fight?

I bet her parents are abusive.

Wait, is this new gossip? Was there a fight I didn't know about? I need to go talk to Ally.

It looks like she stopped a train with her nose, then fell face forward into concrete, then got a hammer and smashed her nose, then put some make up on it to make it look worse.

Gee, how kind. I think sarcastically.

As I walk through the halls some people try to come up and ask what on earth happens to my face but Abigail gives them the death stare and tells them that unless they want to look like this all over they had better walk away, and of course everybody listened.

When we finally make it to my locker I feel like school should be over, I've already had enough of this and I hadn't even been to my first class.

Abigail asks if I'm alright by myself while she goes to the bathroom to check her make up real quick, I of course tell her I'll be fine and she leaves promising she'll be back in five minutes tops.

When she leaves I open my locker and inspect my nose closely in my locker mirror. It's absolutely hideous. It looks even worse than yesterday, it's twice as swollen and the bruises are an even darker shade of blue and black. How on earth did my nose look like this? All I did was hit into a door, it's not like I was walking 100 miles an hour or anything, it was just normal walking.

How could my nose seriously be that sensitive? Suddenly I feel a big hand grabbing my shoulder and turning me around. I look up to see Mr Blue Eyes looking down at me with so much concern it melts my heart.

"What happened?" He growls loudly. A few people look over to watch us.

"I hit into a door" I tell him shrugging. "That happened by hitting into a door?" He asks skeptically.

"Yes it did" I say, crossing my arms. Little jerk wasn't going to believe me? Well whatever it was none of his business anyways.

"What do you care anyways? And by the way what was that last night? That ringing, and the bright light, and then all of a sudden I was just in my bedroom? What-how?" I ask amazed at what had happened all over again as I play through it all in my mind.

He looks around nervously before grabbing my wrist and pulling me forward out the school doors. "Hey, what are you doing? Let go of me" I yell smacking his hand that holds my wrist. He completely ignores my yells of protests as he picks me up and sets me onto his motorcycle.

I don't know how he so easily picks me up and pulls me around as if I were a doll or something but he does without even a grunt. "What do you think you're doing?" I question as I start to get off of his bike, he pushes me back down, sits on the space in front of me, puts his helmet on my head and starts the engine.

"I'd hold on if I were you" he advices. I quickly grab onto him not wanting to die but when I wrap my arms around him, I grab a a chunk of his skin in my fingers and squeeze down as hard as I can. A yelp of surprise and pain comes out as he jumps high in his seat. I smile triumphantly while he growls at me.

And then we're off zooming down the streets with my hair whipping wildly behind me.

I close my eyes and lean my head against his back taking it all in, his peppermint orange smell, the wind whipping my hair, the whistling sound in my ears as wind sounds around me, the vibration of the motorcycle as it drove down the mostly empty street. I loved riding motorcycles, I realize. It's just such a relaxing yet thrilling feeling.

The motorcycle swerves and pulls to a stop and I open my eyes to see that we're home. Well at his home.

He gets off the bike and pulls of the helmet from my head buckling it to the handle on his bike.

I jump off the bike and cross my arms at him "mind telling me what we're doing here?" I ask hoping I sound as annoyed as I am.

He doesn't answer as he once again grabs my arm and pulls me into his house and upstairs to his bedroom.

Deja vu much?

Once we're inside I yank my arm away from his grasp "what is with you and yanking me into your bedroom?" I hiss.

"So you're telling me that you were walking at a normal pace when you smacked into a door, and your face came out looking like this?" He questions.

"Yes, I have a very sensitive nose thank you very much" I inform, lifting my chin, trying to keep some dignity. He takes a step closer to me "who was with you?" He interrogates.

"Brandon. Why?" I ask, getting seriously aggravated at his interrogation on something that had absolutely nothing to do with him. He yanked me out of school against my will to ask me lame questions about my nose? His eyes suddenly become dark at the mention of Brandon's name and he looks away. I roll my eyes "are you done with the little interrogation now? Can you take me back to school?" I ask, not caring to hide the annoyance in my voice.

"Does it hurt?" He inquires quietly. The way that he asked surprises me. He said it so kindly he actually sounded worried. I thought about snapping back some sarcastic sentence like no, bruising my nose so badly that it's black and blue doesn't hurt at all. But decided against it, still taken aback by his tone.

"Yeah, I can't even touch it with out tears coming" I admit. He looks up at me and we instantly lock eyes. He takes a step closer and I instinctively take one back lightly hitting against the wall. He takes another step closer, so that he's standing only inches from me. His eyes never leave mine.

His hands slowly lift up and both thumbs come towards my nose. What is he doing? I just told him it hurts to even touch it. His thumbs gently glide against my nose on either side. I flinch, expecting to feel pain but instead feel a slight tingling, not in a painful way, actually felt kind of nice. Slowly his thumbs glide up and down the outside of my nose, meeting in the middle at the top. His thumbs move from the bridge of my nose, sideways to the middle of my cheekbones, and back again. It's such a simple motion yet it feels so amazing and phenomenal. His eyes never leave mine and mine never leave his, no words are spoken as we carefully watch one another.

Slowly his face comes down and his soft lips press lightly against my nose. A powerful tingling arises where his lips touched as soon as the contact is made. He lifts his lips up and brings them inches from mine. I want so badly to just lean that two and a half inches forward so that our lips can meet, but somehow i control myself and restrain. I just stand there breathing in his minty orange breath as we stare. The tingling grows more and more powerful but I ignore it.

After a moment Jake pulls away and shakes his head slightly, as if he were trying to get out of a trance. I clear my throat, feeling myself blush. Jake awkwardly scratches the back of his neck. "Uh I-I should probably take you back to school" he mumbles without meeting my eyes. I nod in agreement.

We walk down the stairs and onto his bike in awkward silence. The rev of the engine fills my ears and I'm grateful for a distraction from the awkwardness.

When we get to school the tingling has intensified so much that I reach up and touch my nose.

My eyes widen as I feel around, there's no pain, and it's normal size, I run into the girls bathroom and inspect my nose closely. Every single bruise is gone, there's not a single scratch or purple or black mark, it's not humongous in size, there's nothing.

The tingling finally dies down but all I can do is stare at my nose in awe. I press my finger hard against my bridge but feel no pain at all. What the-I quickly run out of the girls bathroom to find Jake but instead smack straight into a muscular body, strong hands grab me before I fall to the floor. I look up to see Brandon with an arched eyebrow "you okay?" He asks, pulling me up. I nod and just then his eyes look down at my nose and widen "your nose, what happened? Do you have that cover up make upey stuff on?" He asks, staring in disbelief.

I put a hand to my nose, how could I explain to him that Jake kissed it and all of a sudden it was healed? "Uh yeah, I've gotten really good at make up, years of experience" I lie with a smile. He nods, a confused expression still on his face, like he doesn't quite believe me. In mere seconds the look is gone and replaced with sparkling eyes and a bright smile. "Right, well you did an amazing job, so what do you say we eat lunch now?" He asks, casually resting his arm around my shoulder, I nod in agreement as we walk into the cafeteria. As soon as we step in the whole place turns to look at us before buzzing with whispers.

Even though I'd rather not, I suppose this is just something I'm going to have to get used to.

I end up earning even weirder looks now that my nose is healed than when it was bruised.
