Ethan's POV

After finishing the paperwork for the contract with Birthstone Industries I stretched out my sore muscles. I had already sent my Secretary home since I knew I was going to be in the office way past hours. Getting up I grab my suit jacket and head towards the company garage where my car was waiting. Hopping in, I start the engine.

As I get out onto the busy New York roads I debate whether or not I should go out drinking again or go home and do so. I go with the club cause who knows maybe I'll find someone with whom I can drown my sorrows.

Going to a club owned by my company I work my way to the bar. Several girls try getting my attention by pressing up against me or shoving their cleavage towards my face but I just ignore them and continue to the bar. Looking up at the bartender I notice that it was Logan tonight. After ordering a shot of whiskey and downing it I began to think about what had been happening in the last couple of months.

My father had died of Cancer. And in the event of him dying his multi-billion dollar empire had been handed over to me. I mean I'm not going to complain about the company. I always knew I was going to eventually take over for him. But I hadn't thought it would be because of him dying. Of Cancer no less. Cancer is a bitch. He had been fighting it for years without telling me and when he finally does confide in me it's when there is absolutely no chance of him getting better. Ever since his death I have been working myself just to prove to myself and everyone else that I could handle the job he entrusted me with. It probably didn't help that I also drank constantly because I didn't want to feel the pain of my loss. I mean it's not like I thought he was going to live forever I had just hoped it would be longer. Till he at least had a grandchild like he always wanted. But unfortunately I hadn't paid attention to the signs that his time was coming. So now in my guilt ridden self I have come to this same bar most nights to drink myself blind.

Suddenly as I'm about to down another shot of whiskey something or more like someone falls against me. Looking back ready to yell I stopped cold when I met the most beautiful pair of eyes I have ever seen.

They were a bright blue and belonged to an absolutely gorgeous woman. She had long dark hair that cascaded down her back in soft curls. A full figure that left my mouth watering. Pink lips that begged to be kissed. But what intrigued me the most was the fact that she had makeup smeared everywhere on her face. She didn't look to be a whore but her makeup kind of gave off that signal.

"Wow. Easy there." I breathe out on a husky whisper and wrap my arm around her waist to help her keep balance.

"I'm so sorry." she gushed, sounding on the verge of crying.

"Sweetheart what's wrong?" I asked frowning as I watched her hastily wipe at her makeup.

"Why do you care?" she demanded bluntly, glaring at her feet.

"Because, my dear, I do." I replied simply as I forced her to take a seat beside me.

I knew I was drunk but not completely trashed. I also knew that this was most likely going to end in a one night stand if I was lucky enough. So I listened as she poured her heart out and explained to me how her fiancé had left her the night before their wedding and that today was supposed to be the day she married her high school sweetheart but instead she was clubbing with the sole purpose of forgetting him in any way she could.

After a few more rounds of drinks I suggested that I could help her get over him and well one thing led to another and soon we were in my house.
